Take just 1min out of you time and help me if possible :) - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I know these questions have been probably asked and answered a million times already, but honestly, I haven't been able to find answers exactly for my questions.
I will try to keep this as sort as possible, all I ask is to either point me somewhere or answer with a simple Yes/No. Of course longer responses are welcome as well
My info:
*SM-N910F *trlte *Firmware CSC code- TTR *Bootloader/PDA/Baseband- N910FXXU1COH4 *5.1.1 *LMY47X.N910FXXU1COH4 *If more is needed just tell me.
So here we go:
1)From what I understand, for installing a custom ROM, TWRP is the first thing I should install. Correct?
2)Which is the latest Odin version (or which version should I use) to install TWRP?
3)Is it possible to install any STOCK rom from SAMmobile or only the ones specific for my country?
4)After installing TWRP and making a backup, which application should I use to root my device and which one to make an EFS backup?
Thats all, thanks a lot in advance everyone

1)I would recommend installing a custom rom but thats a personal choice 2)I believe the latest is 3.10 but 3.07 works just fine 3)Any stock Rom for your model 910f 4) If you install a custom rom it will be rooted already if Stock CF-Autoroot should work but do it before changing recovery as it puts the factory one (3E) back also TWRP will let you back up your EFS

Thanks a lot pal, have you tried echoe rom? They ask for a modem installation but I'm not sure how that's done...

I have but I have a 910w8 so I use the T-mobile version no modem required
But you can pull the modem out of the MD5 file (odin file) using winrar or something like that and flash just the modem in odin or just find a flashable zip for your model

personaly, i tried every custom rom there is for the n910F version, and none of them was good to keep, one's drain to much batery, the others lack features.. so currently im on the stock 5.1.1. german rom, with root, and its amazing for my needs, stanby time can go easily 3 days, SOT 4h

Branded Galaxy Y?

Hi to everyone. I'm sorry, probably this question has been asked lots of times, but I'm not expert in flashing devices, roms, etc.
I've a Branded Galaxy Y which code is GT-S5369 (instead of 5360), and I would like to know: Are the firmwares in this forum compatible also with my phone? And do I have to do any specific procedure in order to install a Custom ROM, or does it work in the same way of non-branded ones? That's the ROM I want to install: http://http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1757125&page=264 .
Thank you :fingers-crossed:
you can only try it - unless someone has that device you probably wont get an answer
take note of your stock rom baseband in case you need to flash stock rom via odin
I had a look and your stock rom is probably S5369BULL1 or something like that - check about phone in phone settings
you can download that stock rom firmware from sammobile.com/firmwares but you will need to split it with the splitter tool to be able to flash it via odin
the link to the splitter tool is on dokys thread at the top of the dev section for odin firmwares

Thank you for the reply. My stock rom is the one you said, I've downloaded it from sammobile I've read in other websites that it is necessary to de-brand the phone installing the GT-S5360 stock rom XXKL3; is it actually the best way to do it? Sorry for the questions but I want to be sure of what I'm doing.

Debrand basically means to remove all bloat apps that providers bundle with the phone that are really of no use
I use xxlk3 as it's one of the latest UK firmware
Make sure you make a nandroid backup in cwm before you flash anything - you can then restore your phone back to it's previous state if necessary by restoring the backup in cwm

Well, as I understood, debrand is not an important thing for installing Custom ROMs.
Anyway, I succeeded to install the Evo-X 4.2.0 rom, just unlocking the root, putting the file into the SD and applying it via CWM. Nothing simpler than that. Thank you for the kindness, there was not any problem with it

Custom Roms should be pre-rooted no need to root again unless you have problems
Enjoy
I think they are compatible

It is possible that the newest MD5 has not been updated yet.
EDIT: Checksum I got from X-Note_Aroma_Build_9.0_NA7_KitKat_Public Matches fine.

Well it's supposed to match, but I never ever check my downloads..
Yes you need to update to Stock first before flashing (NA6 is OK no need for NA7)

Try flashing it even if the MD5 doesn't match, just have another ROM ready in case it doesn't work. Might just be an anomly that is causing the checksum issues.

I usually add Upgrade to Stock Kitkat via Odin >Root with cf-autoroot > Flash a custom Recovery > download custom ROM > flash via custom Recovery.
But thats because I need root and want to make sure my phone has rooted properly.....
Oh, and make sure the KK you flash ISN'T a branded rom - supplied by a foreign carrier as this can cause problems and may fail near end of ODIN flash...
No need to root when flashing a recovery :good:
EDIT: Re-Read your reasoning for doing so!

Just make sure you have the latest cf-autoroot and that the CWM you install is greater than version 4.0.4.6... These are KK friendly, anything else will cause issues...

How can I see if the KK I flash isn't a branded rom or not?
I'm using the cwm 6.0.4.7 (it said friendly KK )I think so, I no longer near my pc but I will confirm that later.
Use XEO (Poland) KK which is unbranded
HERE'S a fast link for it.

Downgrade G900H from Lollipop to Kitkat?

I seem to be having an issue with downgrading my S5 G900H Exynos to Kitkat from Lollipop BOAD. I've tried 4 different stock Kitkat firmwares from sammobile but all of them cause the phone to hang at the Samsung logo however I can flash back to stock lollipop BOAD and it works fine again.
ODIN gives me no errors when I try to flash kitkat or lollipop and infact both gives the "PASS!" mark what should I do?
I downgraded to KK from LP the other day, and ended up stuck at the Samsung logo too
Tried factory resetting, didn't work
The only thing that finally worked was flashing the same KK ROM again over the top of the one that got stuck at the Logo
Once I'd done that, it booted

You might need to flash the PIT file for your model S5, maybe the partitions are different between ROMs for that specific model
Be sure to get the exact PIT file though or you'll brick it
PIT file and KK ROM in ODIN at the same time, it will flash the PIT, then it will flash the ROM

You could flash a custom recovery like TWRP, but unless someone has made a flashable zip of the stock firmware for custom recovery it'll not work
You could flash a custom KitKat ROM from TWRP
The only method that works for mine is flashing CF Auto Root, to gain root, then using TWRP manager from Google Play to install TWRP Recovery
This will void your warranty though

Mine is similar to that too. I have to install CF Auto Root first and then install Flashify and then install TWRP via flashify img file to gain custom recovery
Might be worth flashing a custom KK ROM, then trying to flash stock over the top after 100% wiping everything & formatting from TWRP advanced wipe

Stupid question, but you did factory reset after upgrading to LP?
KK leaves behind rubbish files which cause battery drain, I got the same after first upgrade, but after a reset, it has been great since
Performance is definitely better with LP this end too, but you're not alone, the majority who upgraded say KK is way better atm

[Q] As a first timer on samsung what do i need to do ?

Hey guys i just bought this international exynos note 3 (N900) and i have some questions about it ;
1. I want to install all the roms kernels and mods i could find but in order to do that (I'm %100 stock btw) ,do i need to first unlock the device ( i dont know how i couldnt find it), then root it with CF- Auto root( my warranty is over so i dont need to think about KNOX i think??) Then use the dd method to flash a recovery and flash whatever i want. Am i right about the things i said on all above ? Is there an easier way to do it ?
2. Do KNOX ever prevents me from flashing things in ODIN if something gets triggered ?
3. If i am not right about the first question starting from %100 stock what do i need to do to get this baby rockin ? I'm thinking about flashing a stock lollipop rom with a custom kernel and root ofc. Any suggestions ?
4. Do we need to flash modems from odin ? Because when reading the AryaMods thread i saw something about updating the modem. I'm on 4.4.2 right now. Can we flash modems or even kernels from recovery ?
Thanks already!!

There is no much of roms to choose for this one. 9005 is most supported here.
Root using cf auto root.
Make back up of ta partion/imei.
Flash recovery with odin. Then flash roms in twrp (watch the ere about how to use twrp or YT).
flash stock roms using odin.
Can't i just flash recovery from odin then flash a custom rom after that without rooting ? Thanks!

If you are going to flash roms based on lollipop, update your phone to latest stock rom for your model using odin so you get latest bootloader.
Dude, you need root access to access system and write to it. Don't custom roms require root, if you take a look? (don't answer to this [emoji61] )
If you want that way, flash twrp with ? odin. Then flash supersu for your model using twrp. That way too you get root. Then flash roms after (read rom instructions).
Ask if all wondering. ?

No my question was; not rooting the device in the first place before flashing the recovery and the rom. The roms already comes with the root in it. So just to be clear first upgrade the base to lollipop from odin then flash a recovery and lastly flash a lollipop rom. Would this be your sequence when you just bought a new note 3 ?

Flash latest firmware then custom recovery then flash the custom rom of your choice. No need to root after flash official firmware but it's good to root first as you may want to backup efs before you start messing the phone. I backed up the efs for the past 1.5years but so far never need it.

Downgrade from marshmallow to lollipop

Hi,
I have a Samsung Galaxy sm-g900h phone which I updated to android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow). But after the update the phone's battery life decreased significantly.
Is it possible to downgrade it to the previous 5.0 version. Thanks
As far as I know you can I've done it so you should be good just put into download mode and flash with Odin
Could you please tell me or give me a link of the steps that I should follow?

You have to first Install a Custom recovery like Philz Touch, Clean the rom, then flash in the old rom using Odin, or if you have it in .Zip format, its straight after cleaning the rom, go to install from SD card

Please stop providing members incorrect information. Philz is not a ROM it is a recovery. And if he wants to be on stock he needs the official firmware for his device and carrier from sammobile.com and Odin. He needs Philz or TWRP if he wants a custom ROM. However, I recommend a custom ROM over stock. More features and tweaks for the phone. You can also root and get kernel auditor and out it to battery save.
You should try clearing the cache partition and leaving the phone for a week to get used to Marshmallow. I'm on it and it's quite better than Lollipop, just give it some time to settle in
