I also got this new version, mine is the dvd-less 7" model with 6 buttons at the bottom. One other difference that wasn't mentioned: usb keyboard and mouse are not working. Still experimenting with it.
I'm trying to get the source files from my seller lets see how this goes.
Were u able to get it to work @sciallo ?

I installed it and have been on the road, haven't had time to really do much other than install some apps,
I got update files from my seller but didn't test them yet... The file naming suggests they are encrypted like the. An-21u's if I remember right the encryption got figured out at some point, I'll have to research it when I get some time
Other things I found out so far:
- USB keyboard/mousd doesn't seem to work
- sub out only works with radio, nor poweramp Pandora Bluetooth or even built in music app. I ended up connecting my subwoofer amp to the rear channel
- hard drive works, I use a 128gb solid state hd.
Some apps are not compatible according to play store but can be side loaded (eg. Tablet talk and if I remember right poweramp), some are compatible according to play store but force close (eg gmail and weatherbug)
that's all I got so far, I thought I was buying another an-21 identical to the one I already have because I knew what to do and don't have too much time lately and here I am with the latest...

I also got this unit but my seller was not able to share the update files with me. Would it be possible to get them from you? I would like to investigate the differences to the dual core firmware version. Many thanks in advance.

Somebody (you?) posted the same file "4.4syestem.zip" in the AN-21U dual core thread a couple of days ago, and I got it already investigated by a real expert for this. It turned out (in the emulator) that it's the dual core firmware. You could double check - maybe something went wrong.

Did you check whether the system update files were somewhere on the unit? I couldn't find them on mine...
One more comment: My seller always told me that the firmware in the quad core would be the same as in the dual core. When comparing Sciallo's quad core files to my dual core files then there is only 1 significant difference: libandroid_runtime.so (of course the stock app apks are also different but this is not important here).
I'm no Android expert but I could imagine that only some native libraries would have to be modified for the new quad core hardware.
Would i.e. a new libandroid_runtime.so be sufficient?
I will try to contact my seller. I wonder if there could be differences between units. Since they all have the same hardware I doubt it but multiple sources might be helpful.
Got Root rights program: KingRoot , it is permanent.
nice, this is the unit I was looking at on ali express. What I don't understand is looking at the R16 on google, it looks to be a quad core A7, not quad core A9. Can someone link me to the specs of the R16?
The seller is smart rover, here is the item I am looking at:
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/8-An...For-Mazda-6-Atenza-2013-2014/32369470348.html
I am curious how it performs against the RK3188-based HUs.
---------- Post added at 09:37 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:27 AM ----------
how is BT audio quality? How is mic quality?
Have been playing more. I haven't come across any incompatible apps. However I have noticed Easy Connect doesn't work most of the time and Bluetooth connect is glitchy.

Wrong unit. I have seen that unit before, but its not any of these, however it is another Hybrid unit of the AN-21U
Quadcore Unit (Tontek)
Here's some more info/video from me regarding the quad core unit. I also own a dual core unit from the same manufacturer (Tontek), and I have to confess that the quad core is just superior in any way. My main expectation was that the unit performs faster and that apps like Poweramp and Sygic are running reasonably now - this I just can confirm now. Basically, Tontek seems just to have adjusted the firmware to make it run with the new hardware but all apps look / behave the same as on the dual core. Unfortunately, the seller did not provide the system update files to have a closer look into the firmware (i.e. to check if Red Mod could be adjusted to run on the quad core).

I have noticed that these units vary in the AN-21U updates,
For example: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Tonghai_Create_AN-21_U#Versions
My Unit runs the update "System Version 2.6.40". Now of course these numbers will not match up with the quad core unit's numbers since all these updates have been modified, however they all vary in which update they carry. Now what does this mean? I don't know. Yet...
I can confirm that kingroot works, @imableeblob you might want to update the first post

I've been getting the usual Chinese stalling techniques from my seller. Still on it and they're still promising to provide the update files.... we'll see.

Hi guys, I just picked up a tab 2 from a reseller over here and although everything works perfectly I find several strange things about my unit.
1. Lock screen does not work at all, I tried going to settings and toyed with the lock screens, even the ones with passwords does not work. It just goes directly to your homescreen when you press the power button.
2. The box my unit came with was for a galaxy tab 7 PLUS, albeit everything was brand new and unused.
3. The back of my tab2 does not have anything inscribed on it excpet samsung and the CE0168. A sticker was attached to it with it's serial and model P3100.
4. I checked the about on my phone and status, my serial number is 000000000??? Baseband version is p3100xxlc4, build number espressorfxx-eng 4.0.3 IML74k P3100XXALC4 test-keys
5. My internal storage is showing that I have 11.87 gb available! I thought this only came in 8gb versions?
6. I installed quicksettings and my processor is showing up as ARMV7 rev 3 (v7l) Dual Core 0: 1008 Mhz 1: 1008 Mhz.
Shouldn't it be TI OMAP 4430?? (why does it show 0: 1008 mhz and 1: 1008mhz)
Again, everything works flawlessly but I am just perplexed with these details and the lock screen. You guys think I got a prototype or something?

phone ablities??
sounds really sketchy.
Aorth may be interested in some files from your device.
Ok i think i really did get a developer version of the tab. My apps is showing dev tools on it. I restored to factory settings already. Hmmmmm
My battery is also showing 3700 v instead of 4000 listed on the sites.
Or it could be that you got some knockoff

Sounds unique. Mind posting some photos, screenshots?
I will upload tom
mind us asking what you paid for it and where?
also of interest.. would you be able to do an: adb pull /system and zip it up and upload to dropbox or google drive, etc??
Thanks.
I would have kept the dev tools , etc for a while. thats just me.
talk about hurrying to get these {pardon me} recycled scrap parts out of the door..

says customer service acknowledges manuals aren't included and not sure when they will be ready.
Pics are there
I have no idea how to do an ADB pull but if someone could give me a noob proof step by step guide I will try. Again, everything works perfectly even calling and texting, it's just the lock screen that doesnt seem to work.
Thats wierd bro.. My Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is model number GT-P3113. Also the charger is black not chrome.. it did not come with headsets, the storage is only 8gbs and the processor is a OMAP-4430.
I think u might have a mix between a "plus" and the "2"...

the back of that Tab doesn't have the LED flash that can be found on the tab 7 plus. you mentioned galaxy tab 2 3g. . . should the galaxy tab 2 7 only available in WIFI only?
I think it could be a case where they just re badge galaxy tab 7 plus and they put ICS on it and called it galaxy tab 2 @[email protected] . .It can be helpful for ICS port for galaxy tab 7 plus developers if that's the case
I don't know what to conclude if your lucky or not. Is it working properly? if not maybe you can return it for a proper unit (since it still covered under warranty)
Nope I only got it from a reseller who tells me that it's unused and was only given to him as a gift. He refuses to tell me anything else and this has no warranty.
My processor clocks in at 1.0ghz dual core so I don't know if this is faster than the ti omap one. My gpu is the same with the official one.
One thing I noticed about this unit is that it's a little sluggish opening and switching apps. Even typing on the keyboard has a slight delay. I don't know if I should classify this as normal because Im used to my galaxy s 2 which is lightning quick at just about everything.
Yeah, like you said, I don't know if I'm lucky or unfortunate with this.
It would be interesting to see the output captured by these programs:
The boot log:
Code:
adb shell dmesg > /tmp/dmesg.txt
The cpuinfo:
Code:
adb shell cat /proc/cpuinfo > /tmp/cpuinfo.txt
The system properties:
Code:
adb shell getprop > /tmp/props.txt
is your desktop OS windows? you can always download and setup android SDK to get adb, I will see if there is an easier setup.
attached my platform-tools folder minus one large .exe program
unzip cd into it and try running adb from there.
good luck

was he fully aware of what he was buying?
hopefully he will help us.
Sold it to a store that buys and sells so no can do: (
Sorry guys if you had posted sooner lol apparently the tab 7.7 can also do voice calls and is a Mich much more faster and responsive device than this one .
ahhh. maybe he will show up on here looking for help hopefully.
Samsung Quality Assurance at it finest. lol
I have similar device.
GT-P3110
Kernel: 3.0.8-154857-eng se.infra-89 #1
Build number: espresswifi_xx-eng 4.0.3 IML74K P3110XXALB6 test-keys
If I can help I'll do what i can.
Will I be able to root it and install recovery like on original device?
Edit: device is quick and responsive. WiFi only, CPU ARMv7.
Has anyone bought one and how do you feel about it?

I've one and the microphones are still in parallel so I had to cut the front
mic to get decent sound from the external. Not worth it.
I've asked a bunch of question a week ago and they promise answer within 24h. No response yet.
I like the home screen it's nice. One of my questions concern the icons on the home screen. They
seem not to be replaceable.

Did you contact Pumpkin by emails on Aamzon?
I have also asked them some questions, very pleased with great service. And I'm planing to buy one with Parrot Bluetooth, but thank you.
OS: Android 4.4 Kit Kat
CPU: Rockchip PX3 Cortex A9 Quad Core 1.6GHz
RAM: DDR3 1GB
Nand Memory: 16GB
Radio IC:NXP TEF6686
Bluetooth IC: Parrot FC6000TN
Audio output: 4*50W max
Screen Resolution: 1024*600
Cold Boot time: about 25-30s
Just FYI-
I have this unit: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01B2JNF2C?tag=xdadevelopers-21
While everything else is impressive, bluetooth still sucks at the moment. Volume gains are terrible, and the MIC is still low. I have to literally crank my sound to 30 before i hear a heavily static'y and distorted conversation.
I did see a youtube video demo by pumpkin that did not seem to have my issue, so im wondering if i may have a bad chip. Don't get your hopes up too much though!
My experience in another thread: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showpost.php?p=8902358&postcount=57
UPDATE:
Most all issues have been resolved after some back and forth and rom updates:
Fixed:
Bluetooth sound is now separated from other sounds. So now bluetooth volume control now works properly and comes through loud and clear.
Still not perfect:
The MIC kind of sucks. People struggle to hear me clearly, but it does work. Not a deal breaker for me, but I wish it was better. It would probably be a lot better if i cut the internal mic cable on the deck and just use the external one
My steering wheel controls work most the time. Sometimes they are not responsive. Honestly though, I believe that this is an issue with my Scosche head unit adapter for my car. It is known to be a problematic piece of ****.

I had an answer which didn't make wiser. Sent another question about the bad BT sound. Also about
the fixed icons on the home screen. I like to put my own icons there, but it's hardcoded and can't be changed.
The DAB-radio works excellent, but you can't upgrade to the 1.5 for better layout since it's a system apk.
I'm not happy with what they call an improvement.

Had a late reply again. Icons on home screen are hard-coded. They will ask
factory to change, will never happen of course. Neglected to answer question about BT-audio.
If you buy try to buy via Pay-Pal so you have a free return.

The installation is on hold since the FW is not up to the standard of my now fitted KLD. The BT is no improvement, the Icons are not an improvement either.
DAB firmware old style and so on.
The size is standard Chinese DIN size and not real DIN size. It wont fit in a standard DIN that's for sure.
Ive got this unit installed for couple of days
The price is ok for what you get.
Currently found flaws:
Does not fit very well in a standard Double din frame.
DAB application is annoying, desperately need the 1.5 somehow installed,
Bad reception with the 3g-module ordered from autopumpkin. This is in a dutch Metropolitan Area
Only mastervolume , no application specific volume control. you cannot hear google maps above radio/dab/mp3
perhaps someone can answer this:
Is there a custom rom available (malaysk?) (its KDL6) for this device?
This Mine installed in a Skoda Octavia

I only don`t like the original apps and launcher, so I installed all the KGL apps and modded the Dab-app a little bit to the KGL-style. You can download it here if you want: https://mega.nz/#F!69JH3SwZ!G30W-fliypsgxOMw6NigBg
I have already a newer version with grey background when you press a station button and white font instaed of the pink one. I can also upload it if you are interested. The Dab reception mostly also works well, but it would be nice if there would be an app wich switches between FM and Dab.

Thanks for the Dab apk, excellent :good:. Are you running stock or Modded firmware ? I aren't to keen on the apps or the main screen.

I've tried to upgrade the DAB, but it's doesn't work with the original FW since DAB.apk is a system app. I asked Pumpkin and they
told me the factory doesn't have any new app.

I also asked Pumpkin about the icons on the main screen. The answer, it's hard coded in firmware. Only system apps
can be replaced. I don't like to change the FW since I like their launcher.

If I understand you right, you want to change the icons in the original launcher?
Thats no problem.
First you need to root your unit, install apk extractor from play store, extract the launcher and put it on your computer. Then you have to download the APK Image Themer: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2579389
After that you have to decompile the apk with the program, go to res/ drawable... and there then you can change the icons or also make the background, how the kgl launcher has it invisible. After changing you need to decompile the apk and also sign it.
Then you can install it on your unit.

I am running stock rooted firmware with kgl apps and kgl launcher.
I uploaded now a update of the dab-apk with new icon and grey background when you press a button in the list.

Thanks a lot, but no thanks. I do appreciate that you took the time and wrote the instruction down. I prefer the seller to do their job.
I would screw up half way, trust me. I tried to copy the launcher to my Malaysk's unit, but it only works halfway. The main page doesn't appear.
The other pages with Pumpkin's icons work.
So the Malaysk firmware is compatible with this device or not? Can anyone give a one word answer?

It works on my unit, except for: 1. The internal WiFi stopped working. 2. DAB stopped working.
internal wifi is pretty important
After a lot of searching here and elsewhere I was not able to find a unit that matches these parameters. The unit was branded as Premier AN-740 which is obviously just a sticker label. Any help with identifying this unit will be greatly appreciated.

Update #3: ROOT!
I was able to root my device using the procedure outlined here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android-auto/android-head-units/ownice-c500-root-t3558760
Using the longer password and with some minor command line alterations (see screenshot here https://ibb.co/njSw5q). Hope this helps someone.
My next goal is to get to the factory settings. If anyone gets the code for that please post it here.
head unit info
Hello, it seems that I have the same head unit. Mine is unbranded and it's shaped to fit a 2008 suzuki swift, however all the codes seems the same.
What I got until now is that 8888 is the boot logo code selection and I can access to the engineering mode menu by dialing *#*#3646633#*#*
I'm trying to perform a factory reset because I accidentally delete the "su" executable and I cannot access it anymore even with the password, howevere there is a factory reset password that I can't find on the net. The next step will be trying to access the "RST" button and check what it does.
Hi Mr. Purple,
Thanks for your code

I can confirm that it works for me as well. I was not however able to locate the FM Radio settings I was looking for (let me know if you find those).
Good luck with the factory reset, and let us know how it turned out.
Updates
I have some news:
The actual model seems to be the witson w2-k7xxx (in which xxx is the code of the shape of the front panel, mine is w2-K7658).

I managed to access the system menu with the code 3711 and here there are the FM settings!
Here follows what I discovered by trying and trying again and searching on the net:
CODES (to be inserted in Settings > software version > small gear icon near HMI):
3711 -> factory settings
8888 -> boot logo settings
6666 -> a chinese text that reports "no update files where found" appears (probably the update code)
7777 -> a chinese text that reports "no update files where found" appears (probably the update code)
0 -> MCU update page
How to access the engineering mode:
dial *#*#3646633#*#*
How to access the firmware update page:
Click the RST button
touch the screen (and move your finger) until a writing appear on the top left
if a binary file is present in the root of the SD card, then the update begins
How to perform a factory reset: (/system partition is left unchanged, only user data is wiped)
Click the RST button
touch the screen with five fingers (and move them) until a writing appears on the top left
The factory reset procedure will begin. It lasts for 10 minutes
I mailed witson for a firmware update (in order to override the /system partition and restore the su executable) but they ask me for a serial number that is written on the unit. I will disassemble it in a couple of days and if I manage to get this update, I will post it there. However it seems that each model has its own custom firmware that supports only one button layout. If I flash a firmware of the same family (w2-k7xxx) but from a different model, the buttons may not work.
Maybe you can find your own model on witson website

Wow man, you've really been busy! I'm definitely going to try out those codes and knowing who the manufacturer is will help as well. The user interface here definitely looks familiar, though I'm a bit confused as to how you were able to discover the XXX code in the W2-K7XXX part number of your unit. In any case thanks again for all the info and keep us updated, especially if you manage the much needed firmware update...

Well, my HU has the panel that fits only in the 2008 suzuki swift, so I used the search engine on their site to look for "Suzuki Swift" and there I got the part number!
However if you have a standard panel maybe you can go in product page, then on the left column select "+ For Universal All-in-one" and see if one of the model is the one you own. In that page I see only 4 Android 6.0 headunit: W2-K7900G, W2-K7927G, W2-K7902 and W2-K7924 (I can't send link because I'm new on XDA, but you can easily find them)
From the photos you posted, it seems that your HU is the W2-K7927G

Yes, I think so too ( Link for anyone interested). It would be nice to be able to confirm that this is indeed the exact model before we attempt a firmware update as flashing the wrong firmware is almost guaranteed to brick the unit (i'll try to search for th exact P/N in the "hidden" menus). Besides, now that I have all these secret menus to play with, maybe I can fix the problems I experience without a firmware update. The biggest two issues are speaker noise while idling (even when radio and music player are off) and waaay too jerky FM reception (unit is constantly trying to find a better frequency for the current station - I was told that I need to lower the FM sensitivity in the technician menu to fix that). If I can fix these two issues, I can definitely live without a F/W update. Did you experience any of these issues or is it just my particular model / unit?

yes, the idle background noise is too loud too on mine. The reception seems fine, just a little worse than the suzuki stock radio definitely usable. However if you find a solution for both, I think I will try it too! At the moment I'm stuck to solve the "su" problem!
sorry to hear that.
i assumed the factory reset took care of the SU problem.

Unfortunately the factory reset only reset the user partition, but the /system partition is left unchanged.
However after two weeks of mails, I finally got a firmware update binary from Witson.
I don't know if it's compatible to your radio, however i mailed to [email protected], they asked me for a product code placed on top of my Head unit and then sent me the update after I provided the code.
Here a picture of the location of the product code on my unit (it's the top side of the box):

Maybe you can ask for a firmware too with your serial and then we can check if it's the same file.
Now I'm trying to fixing a network bug that made my cellular network connect to a roaming operator (TIM) instead of my operator (three) due to a wrong priority assignment.
As always nothing but helpful information from MrDeepPurple (seen them in concert not too long ago hehe). I feel kind of ashamed for not contributing anything.

I plan to take apart the center console in my car during this weekend so I'll be sure to check for that code - in addition to a few other things I've been saving for this event such as debugging that horrible background noise we talked about. I plan to disconnect the HU from all peripherals one by one until I find the culprit. If the HU itself is generating that noise I'll need to rethink my strategy. As for the radio reception, I did find the radio sensitivity setting thanks to your help and lowering it did help a little, but it turns out I've been kind'a stupid not noticing how short the antenna the previous owner put on the car was. With that size it was physically impossible to get good reception, so I just ordered an OEM antenna from the car manufacturer and hope to be done with this problem. The moral of this, I think, is that even though this HU is pretty sh**ty, we shouldn't be so quick to blame everything on it as there are other components in the system. One thing to note to anyone fiddling with the system settings from the codes MrDeepPurple provided, be aware that saving the settings will RESET YOUR HOME SCREEN TO STOCK so if you want to try out different settings do it all in one go, otherwise you'll end up having to replace all your widgets and things to the way you like them about a zillion times.

It seems that the problems never end with this HU - is this bug due to the firmware update?
At this pace by the time we get them to perform adequately they will be outdated.
Anyways good luck and keep updating.

yes, this happens on a random OTA update I received a month ago. I didn't even know that this HU can have OTAs. However I'm not able to select network type (2G, 3G, 4G) anymore because the menu is greyed and instead it appeared a menù with PLMN editing. I didn't even know what a PLMN was before that.
However this menù is totally useless, the selection and the editing of PLMNs is resetted when you exit this menu. The PLMN which has the highest priority is TIM, then comes three UK (why uk? iI'm in italy!!). I read that there is a sqlite db accessible only with root permission that contains those informations so I need root to access it.

You contributed to find the correct way to root this HU that is the most useful information to me by now!! Thank you!
well, it seems that the root procedure doesn't work on mine.
After all the steps on Ownice C500 post (even with the short password on forfan executable and the long one with the su executable) it seems that the root doesn't work. When I try to run the su command on a terminal emulator it returns 1. It's a generic error code, so there should be something missing. However I'm not scared to test it now that I have the firmware update files.
Did you use the su executable in the Ownice C500 post?
Are the other file useless (libsupol.so, sukernel and supolicy) ?

Having performed the root two months ago I'm sorry to say I don't really remember much. However two things are clear from the screenshot (third post in this thread):
1. I used the longer password.
2. Only the actual su file is copied and given execution permissions.
Not sure what's the source of that 'su' executable but it's probably from the link given as I can't recall doing otherwise.
Today I received a new update binary, I will try to upload it soon and check if it solves my problem

The main reason I've put Android in the car is be able too use Waze properly (i.e. no weird phone holding gadgets) so yes, I can confirm that Waze works fine on this HU. Otherwise I'd have replaced it long time ago.
As for the idle noise, I currently tend to think it's a hardware rather than software issue. I'm going to take apart the center console and see what's what as soon as I receive some parts I'm waiting for (for which I also need to take apart the center console - no sense in doing it twice). Will report my findings.

I've noticed that these things are becoming popular and I thought why not make one for my Android head unit?
(I have Intel Sofila 3GR variant)
After doing some research in Computer Vision and hacking UIServer app, I'm happy to announce that it works
You can see a live demo in my youtube channel - https://youtu.be/bRYOB4MqHmo
The solution is software only:
1. it uses a computer vision algorithm that I've created that changes the perspective of the rear camera to top view.
2. A simple, analog, 480TVL video camera is enough for this algorithm! which means no hardware mods are needed!
3. An initial calibration process per camera per car is needed (usually takes 5-10 minutes)
4. In addition to the top, 360 view, it also undistorts fisheye lens!
It translates rear camera view:
into top camera view, with a memory of previously seen space:
Hope to release the app when it will be steady enough.
Until then, I've ordered a PX5 CPU based Android for better performance.
Looks promising!
Not bad. Keep going and updating.
thanks!
I've did some retouches, now it looks even better - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzpn0ROKkX8
What's the CPU load like when that's running ? I presume you have added the usual heatsinks & fan to your Joying ?
All original hardware, no extra heatsinks (its 20-5 Celsius out here right now).
It runs 2 threads at full speed so it takes like 50% cpu load (100% for each thread that runs on an individual core).
Holy f**k this looks amazing. I would love to try it out (got a joying PX5 unit).
This is awesome ! Any release soon ? even if it's beta
You will have the self driving car manufacturers paying you billions for this soon ?
can't wait to try this!
any updates on this?
I have "Joying SC9853i",
would be nice to try this app !!
hope you will release it for Joying SC9853i !!
Hi, sorry for not updating for a while, it's not easy to find free nights for that project.
I've stabilized the code a bit but it still isn't good enough for releasing it - it jerks when reversing too fast and my analog backup camera has a very poor and noisy quality which doesn't help either.
Another issue I'm facing is that in order to listen to reverse gear interrupt I have to do dedicated reverse engineering for each model which isn't trivial.
What I do have and will update soon is more videos, I've added a feature for recording the top view perspective. It does work perfectly in many scenarios and even OFF ROAD! which is very cool!

Is your joying active cooled? may help with the jerking.
Why listen for the reverse and not just use it as an app first, and listen for that intent later?

1. I want it to be automatically - as soon as I hit reverse gear I want to see that top view (and that's what we have now ).
2. not only this interrupt needs special treatment per different MCU model, but also getting the video feed is not always trivial. Those Chinese manufacturers aren't using Android HALs as they should be using. That means - I can't just open an android Camera view and see the reverse camera (in Joying luckily it is like that, but in others like ALLWINNER its sucks, need to hack into some process and send it a proprietary IPC message)
3. I haven't modded it for cooling but it has some fan in there. I'm in a hot country (32 celsius easy) so it might worth a try because sometimes FPS is high and sometimes very low without any good reason.

2: I'm running this rom but can't see the reverse camera on my device unless I supply power to the "back" wire.. So I'm curious if it would work with mine.
3. I've got a joying single DIN and it just overheats on the regular (Dutch weather, so not that hot) and it thermal throttles a lot or just shuts off/boot loops because of it, and I've ordered a cooling kit online.. so it's likely

get a launcher from the playstore.
i like FCC and CarWebGuru (i'm using the latter) just download and install and select "always use as homescreen".
you might not be able to find the radio, bluetooth, tpms and other stock apps in the drawer anymore.
if that is the case you need to install the correct apk's to get them visible in your app drawer again.
here are the apk's: http://www.mediafire.com/file/14sodhuv8mvl7g6/stock_apps_for_AHU_%288227L%29.zip/file
download, unzip and copy the needed apk's to your usb stick or sd card.
insert the card/stick in your Head unit browse to the files, click install apk.. and BAM! full working stock apps!

Thanks. That is very helpful.
The stock apps on my device are quiet bad. The BT app for example does not sync properly, does not support favorites and has very poor functionality and UI.
How can I change a stock app to a better one ?

Welcome to the forum. So as you have probably started to notice, the unit you've bought is not up to expectations but fear not, there are plenty of optimizations that can be done to improve the user experience. Feel free to visit this thread for inspiration and of course software that can help you on this journey. And check out the video in my signature that will demonstrate a lot of these improvements.

Hi everyone. I have 8227l demo android headunit in my car running on android Go 8.1. It has 2GB RAM, 32GB ROM (have verified that it really has these specs). All apps run fine but Google Maps app works very slow, lags too much. Kindly anyone guide me how to fine tune the headunit for a better & smooth speed of Google Maps working. Thanks

This is a common problem with these units in general. What you need is a modified firmware then root. You can speed up your head unit considerably this way.
Check out the video in my signature and at 1:54 you can see the speed of Google Maps but on a 1Gb RAM unit.

It's just not the right kind of unit. The units that are most common are 8227L type with YT921xx system type

Apologies, I thought I was replying to another post with similar question. I don't have anything for 2Gb RAM units, is what I was meaning to say. But there are plenty of stuff for your device out there.

What can I do with my device to get the best out of it? What do you recommend bro?
Hi,
I installed Joying android unit JY-UQS03N4G, and it worked okay. But now it does not recognize both the USB ports and Im unable to connect via USB.
Your advise appreciated.
Got it back. Ran 'factory reset' and both USB s working properly.

Well, it all depends on your skill level. Here is what I'm doing to these devices as part of my charity project (you can find more info here)
HARDWARE MODS
1. Installation of TDA7729 sound processing chip (if not present) - without it Fade and EQ do not work
2. Boost the sound quality of the onboard radio and sound effects (exchanging SMD components)
3. Installation of TDA7850 amplifier powered by external 18v power supply (custom built by myself) as well as replacement of capacitors controlling the bass and the treble. Active, temperature-controlled cooling system with additional heatsinks to ensure the proper heat dissipation - this requires modding the case internally as well.
4. WIFI antenna - increasing the average download speed from 1-2 Mbit to 30-40 Mbit
5. Vastly improving the microphone quality by removing the internal mic and replacing it either with a better internal mic or an external one.
6. Proper heatsink on the CPU that feeds into the aluminium case
SOFTWARE MODS
1. Installation of custom firmware (normally publicly available on 4PDA)
2. TWRP recovery
3. Root
4. Viper4Android - massive sound improvement in combination with the TDA7850 mod described above
5. Custom UI and startup logo (boot animation)
6. Speed hacks using root to greatly improve the performance of the head unit
Much more can be done as well, things like installing SDcard reader, AHD chip, RDS radio and other cool stuff.
Hope this answers your question
