What process do I need to go through to safely go from the full android 5.1 rom to the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow STV update 3.0? Thanks
You have to install the 2.1 recovery firmware.
Boot into bootloader mode (adb reboot bootloader) and flash recovery and system partition:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img
Then reboot into Android normally. When asked for it upgrade to 3.0 firmware.
The 2.1 recovery firmware has been removed from the Nvidia download servers but can still be found here
Maybe you need to wipe data partition with TWRP before. For me it worked without it. All programs and settings were kept.
the more and more I read about the 3.0 update and marshmallow update, I don't really see an advantage to it actually maybe more of a disadvantage because I have seen lots of complaints...but thank you so much for the reply if/when I want to do this I now know how, if anything changes please update me because I have read lots of conflicting info about the process, SO ya anymore info would be great! Thanks so much for your time!

Hey! I'm wondering if I could flash MPD24.107-52RETEU OTA on the firmware of MPD24.107-52 RETASIA both are based on 6.0.1, I upgraded from an old 6.0 retausia update, it working flawlessly, just want to flash to EU-version instead, or do I have to fastboot flash? Its on my moms phone, and I preferably dont want to wipe everything.

You could possibly try if you are into experimenting, but it will most likely lead to problems which would involve wiping everything. Best way would be to backup everything ,flash the EU-version and then restore the backup.
If I helped give a like.
Hi to all,
had root this device on 6.0.1 with TWRP. Now I needed a full reset due to a Bluetooth problem to check if its root/software related. BUT on my mistake I erased EVERYTHING through TWRP (Dalvik/ART Cahe,System,Data,Internal Storage,Cache, Micro SD, Android Secure, USB-OTG)
Tried to install custom rom Aospextended but I don't know the how to and I am lost in forums.. the phone doesn't boot... after zip file installation the screen fades to somewhat yellowish like LCD problem... I can still access TWRP..
p.s. I am an iPhone guy and just tried to fix this for my son... hope for your understanding for probably asking something very common..!
ANY HELP WOULD BE greatly appreciated even to get back to stock rom
Many thanks in advance!

You must go to section Samsung j5 2015 you will find all you need, since restoring to stock, rooting, installing the correct TWRP for your device....and more.
You NEED to READ because too much information for one post, but this is the correct place for you.
Pay attention the correct files TWRP for 601 because there are TWRP for lollipop devices, and when choosing ROMs you MUST downgrade your firmware to Lollipop, that's the reason for artifacts and greenish screen because of incompatibility of TWRP and there are ROMs that you can install with twrp601, others need booltloader and twrp lollipop. Hope you are nota blind anymore

I had the same problem when flashing Lineage 14.1 on my phone (J500M), screen fadding with a green-yellowish color and no boot. That happened because I was trying to flash the custon Rom with the wrong base. I was using 6.0 before flashing and Lineage requires you start from 5.1.
All I need to do was search for my device on sammobile.com , get the right stock firmware and use Odin to flash the rom on my device. From there I was able to flash TWRP again and install Lineage correctly.

You have two solutions, you can restore your phone STOCK ROM with Samsung Smart Switch or downgrade to Lollypop firmware and install any custom rom trough TWRP.
Restore to STOCK:
Use Samsung Smart Switch, see howto here
Downgrade to Lollipop:
Install only Bootloader/Modem [6.0.1/5.1.1]BOOTLOADER AND MODEM FOR J500xx [Downgrade more easy] (Collection)
Downgrade to Lollypop (full ROM) (Tutorial) Upgrade J5 (2015) to 6.0 and Downgrade to 5.1.1 + Rooting

MANY THANKS to both of you guys!
Bro just install the official rom ,u can download it from the official site and flash with odin ..
Hello, the other day I accidentally wiped the system when using TWRP. So i found a stock rom but unfortunately it was this one https://forum.xda-developers.com/general/rooting-roms/real-official-stock-rom-xt1625-xt1642-t3575895 which is a 6.1.1 rom. Now my problem is that no updates have come through for android 7.
Regards,
Jack
What device do you have? It looks like you downloaded the MPJ24.139-64/65 build from the Motorola website and might have meant there's a mismatch between the expected build for your software channel and the build on your device. That would mean then Nougat wouldn't update.
If you desire Nougat and are willing to update to Nougat via fastboot, you could flash the March 2017 fastboot ROM (NPJS25.93-14-4). You may choose not to re-lock the bootloader if you desire flashing TWRP or a custom ROM. https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/stock-rom-npjs25-93-14-4-march-1-t3608138
Since I do not know what stock ROM you had previously on your device, I would exercise caution and ensure your data is backed up and off your device before attempting to flash the stock ROM. Though it's a stock ROM and fastbooting should be a safe option to upgrade with, it's still a flash affecting your system. Be careful.

Hello, thanks for your reply. My device is the XT1642. I am surprised I managed to wipe the system. I never normally am this stupid when it comes to messing with flashes and wiping data.
Hi Experts,
I've flashed TWRP and the stock rom posted into XDA with GAPPS included , everything is fine and working.
Now I want to disable TWRP and deploy the stock recovery image bacause I need to sell the phone and after an factory reset TWRP comes up, to me it's acceptable but for an simple user this can be annoying.
I was not able to find the factory recovery.img for Nubia Z17 to flash it. Do someone knows if it's possible ?
This can cause problems ? I don't want to lock the phone again I just want to deploy the stock recovery and let the phone with the actual ROM.
Any help will be appreciated.

I think you need to flash the "recovery.img" from the stock ROM to the phone.
And befor that flash the stock ROM
And I have to admit that I have not tried this but have also thought of doing it.
Let us know what happens.
Thomas
Understood. So I need to flash the Chinese stock ROM without GAPPS and other stuffs.
I think maybe just flashing the Chinese stock ROM it will replace TWRP.
BUT in order to install GAPPS I MUST have TWRP right?
What I want is to flash everything to have the phone functional to sell to an simple end user, this means with PlayStore, GAPPs and without TWRP.
well flashing the chinese ROM will NOT replace TWRP. I believe I tried this once.
I would do the following:
0. keep TWRP
1. Flash the chinese stock ROM
2. Flash GAPPS depening on your customer
3. as a last thing flash the stock recovery image

understood, but how do I get the stock recovery image?
Take the Chinese Rom and open it with WINRAR or winzig.
At the top Level you'll find a recovery.img about 18mb in size.
I believe this is it.
Flash it with fastboot utility.
Cheers Thomas
winzig should be WINZIP
