Hi all,
So I am leaving UK on the 18th (was a student) as my course is over. Sadly It's earlier than I expected and I will have to cancel my preorder most probably.
I am in a major dilemma because India (I have my sister there) doesn't offer 128gb as of yet. And my main residence country (Qatar) doesn't look to be getting the 6p any time soon.
Although I would love to get my hands on the 128gb (I can have it shipped to me easily) my issue is with the warranty. Spoke to Google customer care and the 6p's warranty is limited to country of purchase
So should I risk buying it without warranty or wait for it to get released in middle east.
If anyone has any info/rumours regarding 128gb release in India and/or release in middle east it will be appreciated.
Worst thing that can happen is that you need to mail the broken device to UK for warranty repairs, etc. Right?

Anyone recommend a reputable online dealer that has the SGS 2 and at a competitive price?
Amazon and Newegg both have it around $575...
Anywhere else that is as reputable?
I got mine from expansys usa the first week they were out in UK and available in the US, you can save a few bucks and they are reputable in my book (this is my only transaction with them but you can read on your own)
a lot of us that bought the international SGS2, got it from Expansys-USA.com. worth a look.
If you buy the phone in the U.S. (from anyone, regardless of what they claim) it'll have no warranty as Samsung considers any product purchased outside its country of intended sale "grey market." Expansys-USA gets around that by sending the phone back to the UK for their U.S. customers should it need repair under warranty. You can also buy from Clove and Hantec in the UK as both ship to the U.S. It's $612 delivered from Clove right now and since it's purchased in the UK it retains the 2-year global warranty.
If not worried about warranty, then Amazon is pretty good. Also you can look at mobilecityonline.com from where I bought the white sgs2. You will get the new white sgs2 for $539 after $20 off coupon.

Expansys, my first order with them, but very happy with the transaction. Will use them for Galaxy Note.
Does mobilecityonline.com honor the warranty for an SGS II?
Or, is it only Clove and Expansys only?
I got mine from Expansys USA on June. Pretty quick delivery and no complaint about them.
I got my Sony X1 from Clove UK long time ago. Very good service and fast delivery too.
My friend brought one from Amazon recently but found it's being used (stated as new). So beware on for Amazon seller.
Great options mentioned so far. OP, if you are ok buying the locked AT&T version, it is $550 before taxes without contracts. This phone would probably be better "tuned" for the network, and would come with warranty.
P.S. sorry if my suggestion is too obvious

No. Technically, the phone bought at Expansys-USA doesn't qualify either. They get around that by shipping it to their branch in the UK should it ever need repair. If they go out of business (unlikely) your warranty would go with them as they're acting as an itermediary. The only way to get an "official" warranty is to buy the product from an authorized reseller in its intended country of sale.
The Australian Samsung Galaxy Note launch will not happen till February!
While announcing it's Galaxy Note World Tour event in Jakarta, Indonesia,
"Samsung also mentioned that Australia will only see the handset come February 01 in 2012." according to Cnet.
February is quite some time away. Could Samsung be waiting to roll out ICS to the note before launching it in Australia to avoid more Apple lawsuits?
Samsung recently changed the look of the galaxy tab in Germany for the same reason.
I know companies launch products in different markets at different times for a huge variety of reasons, but I can't stand the waiting game
(need to get it on plan as a work thing, so no ordering from overseas, ha ha)
Also, I have been asking Optus about the Galaxy note:
-Online help confirmed that they are looking forward to its release on the Optus network and to expect to hear more soon.
-An instore sales rep also said that he had played about with one at training in Sydney recently, but they still have yet to confirm release date for the phone.
So looks like at least one carrier will be selling the Galaxy note over here

I live in perth and naturally knew it would be a life time before Australia gets this phone so I it ordered online. If you can afford it, it's worth it because I just went and stuck a virgin sim card in there and went on my way.
It's a better option than waiting till Feb and then seeing the optus deal somehow fall through and the note only being on telestra or something haha. By all means do what you feel comfortable with
Got mine from becextech
Took about a week from placing order. Came from Hong Kong. Had it for a week & very impressed.
Gave the missus my 3GS
My wife bought me the Note as an early Christmas present.... Ordered Friday afternoon from Handtec in the UK, delivered to my hand in Australia mid-morning Monday.
At the time it came in at 449GBP plus around 30GBP in delivery I think?
Screw waiting for Australian carriers to realise it exists, then buggerise around organising their 'deals' with Samsung to install as much crap on it as they can get away with before finally letting their privileged customers get their mitts on it for $79/month or more on a 2 year contract.
got mine from mobicity. it was a polish version that was shipped from hong kong to australia. got it within 3 days of ordering, which is pretty awesome. they also offer a local warranty, which is pretty nice.
most of the time, buying a phone in australia is silly. despite our aussie dollar being pretty strong right now, they still expect us to pay outrageous prices for a local model. as an example, i nabbed a brand new n900 on ebay for $400 from hong kong, harvey norman were charging $850 for an n900.
just buy it online, its worth it.
I love the fact that all 4 replies were convincing me to get it right now...
actually worked too!
I think I'll order one next pay check, since they will probably put it overly pricey contract at first anyway D: Thanks guys!
Got mine from Expansys, was here in a few days, screw waiting until feb so they can bake some crappy exclusive Telstra/Optus/Vodafone firmware with a ton of bloatware, probably also cheaper to get imported.
I paid $730 delivered, can't imagine the outright price from any of the AU carriers will be close to that.

yeah...screw the wait for AUS carriers and also with their wares on it...
Hi there. I am sorry if this has been posted before, but I couldn't really find such a thread.
Coming back to the topic. I am thinking of getting Nexus 4 from US through my cousin who lives there. As I browsed the SHOP NOW page at Google play store, it showed the price $ 349.00 for 16 gb version. What I want to know is that:
- what will be the final price of the device including the TAXES & SHIPPING to Stanton, California?
- and as Google has mentioned a few countries where it will officially launch the device and people can order it online. Does it mean the actual product will ship from the US to (lets say) Australia? Which means the shipping will dramatically increase? Will it?
Would appreciate if anyone could shed some light on it.
Thanks in advance!
Can anyone please reply
I can't answer you about US taxes, but when I bought my Nexus 7 direct from Google play (I'm in UK) they were dispatched within the UK. Well from Northern Ireland, but it's still technically a part of the UK. The delivery charge was £10, which is typical here in the UK. I'm sure they are dispatched locally if they are purchased within the officially released countries, or it wouldn't really make logistical sense for every individual order to be dispatched from the US worldwide.
So, if Australia was an official country, it would be dispatched from there, or somewhere close enough.

Appreciated. Thank you very much for your response.
As Makaijin has said before, it's not shipped from the US all over the globe but rather the local distribution centres. For the U.K. it's from the U.K. but here in Australia, stuff gets shipped from Singapore (it was for the Nexus 7 at least). Thank God Australia's an official launch country .
Ahan, Any idea about the TAXES one has to pay? As in, how much (tax) would one pay for this phone in the US?
and what generally are shipping charges in the US?
Going off the Nexus 7 @ $250 I paid $283 out the door. I believe California has 7-8% sales tax so that should be around $28 in tax plus I recall 2 day shipping on the Nexus 7 was $12. I'd say your out the door would be right at or just over $400.
This launch is so crape on so many levels when on earth will it be possible to get the grey one in the UK or am I better off ordering one from Germany etc?
How are we supposed to know?
Ordering from amazon should be fairly safe in terms of return policy etc, but they don't have it in stock yet either, so I'm not sure how much that helps. I also wouldn't pay significantly more just for the chance of getting it a bit earlier.
I don't suppose you plan a trip to Germany because Saturn Germany has the grey version available online but they are only shipping inside Germany so I let it ship to a store in Passau and am getting it today.
I picked mine up today aswell from Saturn Passau.
Here to confirm availability. Just picked up my grey Axon I ordered on 04.09 at Saturn Germany.
Sometimes I wish I didnt live in the uk get crap everything.
I live in the Netherlands and just ordered a gray Axon 7 at Media Markt Germany because I also couldn't wait for a (not even confirmed) release in The Netherlands. I used a site called mailboxde.com to ship the phone to one of their deposit boxes in Germany and they will then ship it to my house. I read overwhelmingly possitive reviews about this service so I have high hopes I won't be screwed. I will keep you updated when I do indeed receive my phone. Maybe if Mailboxde proves to be reliable it will be a valid option for you too.
Hi All,
Now that Google Store is not selling 6P anymore, I am just wondering where I can buy a proper 6P here in the UK. Amazon has some marketplace sellers who still sell the device, which are not reliable as to the warranty as well as the models. I can see none of other retailers do sell 6P anymore. I can see the likes of eglobalcentral.co.uk but heard that they have very poor customer service if something goes wrong with the item (need to send the devices to Far East for warranty repair).
Any ideas, as I am planning to buy 6P instead of the overpriced Pixel.
Thanks
I think you can still get them in certain retail stores from Carphone Warehouse while they have stock.
