Just got my note 4 and noticed that cm 12 isn't ready. So u searched for a stable cm11 to install and it seems that I can't find any posts about development on it.
I haven't found YouTube videos either on this.
What gives?

Friend, that's like buying a new Ferrari and retrofitting it with a 4 cylinder engine
Someone has to go to the effort to retrofit cm11 to our device. Apparently no one has yet.
Why would you ever do this?

Some of us prefer the stock android experience over touchwiz, Like me personally. I understand you will lose many Samsung features like s-pen.

Note 4 is an quite new device, and has little or no custom rom atm.
@RaymanFX an Recognized Developer here at XDA, is the offical CM12 maintainer for Note 10 2014, He is looking to port CM12 to Galaxy note 4 exynos, He was able to port CM12 in just a couple of months. Please check out the thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=3463426
Thank you for the explanation. I'll flown that thread.. I currently have the US T-Mobile version..

The Note 4 came out about the same time as Cm12 came out. So, there's no Cm11 for the Note 4 and it would take a lot of time and effort to make it. So like everybody said, since Cm12/lollipop is out, why would anyone want cm11 ? It wont ever come to the Note 4.
CM12 Snapdragon is still in Alpha. We're working on the last feature that's still not available: UHD video recording. We already got it working 100% correct in FV-5 cam, got it working in opencamera since yesterday (however still not 100% perfect, it initializes with a black screen but after that everything works fine) and got it recording in the lollipop stock cam, but it's garbled up (found the problem already). But it's good progress, so I'm expecting results soon.
Then, if that last feature that wasnt available in Cm12, has become available, I think we can call it a betaROM. After that we will focus on fixing and improving current features. However, looking at how extremely fast development for Note 4 snapdragon has gone (in a few weeks from nothing to a ROM that has almost all features working) and that some very gifted, dedicated and talented devs like @fattire and @slayher are working on it, I expect a rock solid stable build before the end of Q1.
About Exynos, I dont know. People just started a donation fund to get a dev an Exynos Note but seriously, Exynos are generally (way) more difficult to develop for, since most of the stuff is closed and generally most devs buy Snapdragons. And you need at least like 3 good and dedicated devs to get things going in a reasonable timeframe, it's just WAY too much work for 1 dev alone to get to a stable build.

Completely okay with this. I went with the n910c, because I have heard that it is easier on the battery, and is actually faster. Plus that glimmer of hope that it will get 64-bit. Custom roms are cool, but I can wait.

Look at the T-Mobile Note 4 forum, there are many, many custom Roms and Lollipop Roms. It seems the N910F version is being left behind in development as most devs seem to have the T-Mobile version . Incidentally, the Note 4 is only around just over 2months old, it was released at the end of October.

910F is not being left in development at all. Development is common, only difference is the modem and that's solved already, so EVERYTHING that we're developing is done for all versions of the snapdragon. Like, I've been working hard with Slayher and Fattire the last weeks to solve the last issues, like getting NFC up and now 4k recording (working on FV-5 and opencam already now with our latest patches, and hopefully stock cam soon too). I dont have time (nor will) to release nightlies, preaper has been doing some, I think he will continue. If not I will see if I can release something at least twice a month. Or, alternatively, compile it yourself, it's not hard at all, especially if you know some programming you should be able to do it.

This is just nonsense, it's not out 4 months, it's barely out 2 months. We've gone from NOTHING to a ROM that has ALL features in under 2 months, I think that's a tremendous accomplishment. And that's mainly due to @slayher and @fattire, these guys have been working around the clock almost every day, from morning to night, I think they deserve some more respect,it seems you don't have any idea how much (unpaid !!) work all this has been. I only played a very small part in it and I've been working weeks myself already, putting in pretty much all of my spare time for the last month.
You see, this wasn't just a 'port' to a new device. It's been a port to an operating system that Samsung itself even hasn't released (lollipop), so that made it extra hard. If it's a port to an existing system, you can just compare logs from the existing TW to the CM logs. But since in Lollipop a lot has changed, that wasn't possible for a lot of stuff.

I have the Tab Pro 4 10.1, Tab 3 7" and the Nexus 7 2012. My Nexus 7 2012 had gone through all the updates to Lollipop but none of my Samsung devices have any updates for months while the Nexus 7 the oldest of all the three have all these updates that just keeps on coming. I'm getting frustrated with Samsung because until now my Samsung tablets are stuck at 4.4.2. If Samsung can release a new phone/tablet every 3 months with the latest OS then why can't they update the OS of the older ones at the same rate? Why do we ever bother reading the news about Android's latest Lollipop if we can't even get them on time? All I see is - it's coming, yeah right! What kind of software developers or engineers they have in there? Maybe they only have one guy working on it that's why it's taking so long or never at all. With all that money that they have, they can't even do this simple things. I guess that's why they couldn't beat Apple at their own game. Anyway, I'm out. Thanks for reading!

Just what do you see on Lollipop that makes you want it so bad.
I have purposely turned off OS updates on my N7 as don't want it. The device has not enough power to operate more and more memory intensive OS.
I let my N4 get updated and now regret it. Had no problems prior but now the battery drains overnight if left on standby. I used to let it go for several days before charging now I have to ensure it is plugged in and recharged nightly. This battery drain is being experienced by others. I don't want to have to do a complete factory reset and load everything again which is what some people recommend when doing these updates. Lollipop to me offers nothing that I want and it removed the ability to quickly close all apps which now must be done individually a pain. That plus the chance of other problems makes me want to leave my tab as is.
Google makes the Nexus line.
Google makes Android.
It's to be expected that a Nexus gets the Android updates first.
I'm under the impression the TabPros are getting Lollipop in Jan/Feb sometime with the rest of the year old devices, is that way out to lunch? If they aren't, I will be jumping to CM12 way sooner than later!

Just for laughs I backed everything up and loaded touchwiz back onto it cause its been awhile, i put cm11 on it like a week after I got it. Anyways, I loaded touchwiz back onto it and I couldn't believe how bad it sucked, and I had it debloated, rooted and finevtuned! My advicemis... Screw stock LP and just upgrade to cm12

Whats so good about lollipop..... wellllll, on my phone after lollipop update I went from a 32k antutu to a 48k antutu, after lollipop im getting noticeably better performance in browsing and gaming, after lollipop im getting MUCH better battery life, after lollipop my phone runs like I want it to. As for being more memory intensive better look again. In its initial release lollipop had a memory leak, that was fixed so now it is easier on your device than kitkat. As for the close all in recent tasks which has been renamed...its still there. As always brand specific features will overwrite stock features though.
So in short why would someone want lollipop? It is simply better in almost every way. One of the few updates I have thought worthy of taking.

Dude, yes. This a hundred times. I was going to return this stupid tablet (10.1) because the TW ROM is so horrifically bad and sluggish. With CM12 it flies.
Yup, it'll either be out this year, next year, or the year after that. Trust me. Don't worry about it. Keep buying Samsung tablets, they're great.
I see a thread just like this one on every single device I've ever owned. A spoiled baby crying that they don't get updates right away. If you want updates so fast why would you get anything but Nexus? Go install CM12 & be happy.

lol seriously? 4.4.2 is just so out of date, it makes sense everyone is complaining.
not to mention, there's so many dumb bugs on the official GTP 8.4 firmware that it's pretty obvious this model is an "afterthought" for samsung
i actually don't expect ANY further updates for this model, it's pretty clear that when a company replaces a product with a newer product just 4 months after the product comes out (Tab S) they consider the first product a failure and don't care about it anymore

It is not that out of date cmon man. If/when 5.0 drops you will see a new thread dedicated to how bad it is on the tablet & asking how to go back to kitkat. If you want loli so bad why not play with cm12? If updates are such a priority to you why did you get this device? It has been like this for pretty much every non nexus device. Some get updates pretty quick, but most have to wait months.

hi bro, would you care to check something for me? I'm reluctant to flash cm12 until I know this.
in CM12 for tab pro 10.1 if you set an unlock pattern. does it appear on the first screen after pushing power button(like stock) or do you have to swipe for it to appear? (which means additional screen/step before unlock)

Are you really happy with that Lollipop on your Nexus 7 (2012)? I also own a Nexus 7 (2012) which became useless after Lollipop update.
Guys, go and visit the Nexus 7 sub-forum here and see how frustrated are those people after they got Lollipop.
I am really happy with my Samsung's (especially with 8.4), I wouldn't trade my milliseconds lag for a 30 seconds Lollipop lag and I will wait some good time when the update will become available.

Samsung has released Android Lollipop 5.0.1 today, first in Poland (SM-910C). Samsung seems to be using Poland as a test ground, hoping users will bring up bugs and battery life problems so Samsung may release a fixed and near perfect software to the widespread community. Now, it's a waiting game until it reaches OTA for Verizon Customers. Reaching root may be difficult on Lollipop 5.0.1, even impossible as far as we know. Besides the fact and enjoyment of root, stock TouchWiz incorporated into Lollipop on the Note 4 will be by far the best OS of and across all Android devices.
Near perfect? You sound very optimistic. Best os across all android platforms? You sound very very optimistic. But I do hope you are right.
I have been surprised on how much I have not missed Root. I just came from the S4 MDK and had CM12 on it. Really do miss Lollipop, but I really do love this phone. Sad to say though, with Verizon it maybe 6 months before we see Lollipop.
I think we'll get Lollipop before mid-March. VZW got it out very quickly for the S5 so I believe that they are working on it now.

If Samsung did get lollipop on the retail N4 soon and it was rootable I would actually use my upgrade and get the N4. Currently still using a rooted N3 and honestly very happy with it, but the temptation for a rooted N4 with lollipop would probably be too much.

I just hope they have de-touchwizzed it a bit so we can enjoy all the bliss of Lollipop. If nothing else add a AOSP theme in the settings. Give us the option. I think Samy would sale a lot more phones if they gave the users a theme option. I don't see it happening though.

Hello XDA,
I have the 910G variant and I've been waiting for the release OTA or via Kies since the release began but bubkiss.
Sammy mobile literally has dozens of variant firmware and theres plenty of threads on here about cross flashing X to Y or what have you but not a single mention (according to a fair amount of searching) on whether any of the existing ROMs work for the G or whether its going to be released etc.
My question is, does anyone know of any of the variant versions that WOULD/SHOULD work with the 910G or if the firmware is out there and I'm just an idiot?
If someone can recommend a ROM to try within reasonable margins I'll definitely give it a shot and be a guinea pig.
Thanks in advance.

F ROM's will work on our G device with a custom kernel like AEL - but we need the bootloader and modems for our G model first, which we cant do without samsungs release.

From my understanding our modem and bootloader is different from the n910f and therefore we can't flash it on our n910g untill someone finds a custom kernel or sammy releases it. Sucks i know, I'm waiting for lollipop since it was mentioned by Google

It was literally the main reason I bought this phone over the Nexus 6, I had a Note 3 and flashed the early Lollipop leak and that was such an incredible leap in quality I felt the lollipop for the note 4 would make it the best phone on the market by a long shot, especially given the 4.4.4 firmware was already so much better then the usually touchwiz fair.
Oh well, patience is a virtue, if only I could buy it on ebay.
Yep we just gotta wait, sucks but it's android and not ios and since we all love android we have no choice but to wait. The only good thing about ios if you get updates fast, but that's not good enough for me to use that horrible os.

Agreed.
I handle iPhones at work a lot and I have to admit the hardware is gorgeous and Android hasn't totally outdone the iPhone 6 yet in hardware, but the software, the most important part is far and away much better.
Every time I pick up an IP6 and think "man this sure is sexy...maybe the software is better now" I try to navigate through menus and end up playing the "wheres the back button now!" game and I hate it.
I like the design of the iP6, but i absolutely hate the OS with so much hatred lol. I would never go back to iOs. If only you could install android on a ip6...
I'm officially starting to get pissed off enough to consider returning the phone, the rep guaranteed me the Lollipop update would be out for my variant the week it released for all others.
Clearly thats not true.
What is taking so long to release?

Lollipop for the N910F is NOT gonna work on G since you don't have the correct bootloader and modem.
so i'm sorry, but you'll have to wait for Lollipop release for the G.
and even though the F roms work on G with kitkat...it still needed a different kernel, and that has to come from sources...that samsung has to release...which takes a looooong time
so sure, you can look at spec sheets and see that F is basically the same as G, but it still won't help boot the rom.
sorry :good:
Im interested to see how he went with this...
I wonder if samsung ever reads our feedbacks

Another week no update... I am guessing something is seriously wrong with the update. Australian version Note 4 Edge received the update so i can't think what else would be stopping it. I hope they decide to bump us to 5.1 instead of going gradually...

To everyone in the thread waiting, Sammobile reported yesterday that 910g is getting lollipop in India as of yesterday so the ROM should be up on their firmware section soon hopefully.
Rom is on Sammobile 5.0.1 enjoy

+1 Man, its been like half a yr now or more. Something is taking so bloody long. I dont believe the S'Pen function on the Note4 and Lollipop is the culprit hey? Theres no other explanation. Other phones get 5.0. the S5 got it. Note 3 too. WHERE IS it for sm-n910G ???
I am seeing that i9505 got 3 marshmallow roms from different developers. Whats up with i9500 developers, are they working on something or is everyone sleeping

EXACTLY!!! And one of the devs has done it albeit with major bugs but AFAIK he has left the 9500 development without even sharing the link!! And last year we got the HUGE update (Lollipop) in less than a month, by the end of Nov. However now, it's more thn 2 months M has been released and altough it's a relatively small update compared to L, nobody has done it. I hope the devs will soon turn off their hibernation mode and get on track. We know this isn't their job, but they can do it! Our devs are the best!!

It's because you got a ****ty device with a ****ty chip and no documentation on the chip. Same story with the S5, S6, S6edge etc. Exynos sucks. So it's 10 times harder to develop a rom for you device.

I know it is much harder and I got a $#itty device, but if I knew these stuff back then, I'd rather die than get 9500. However, done is done, you can't get back infortunately :crying:
But the fact that it is already partially developed is burning me cause it's not being released to the public. Furthermore, N3 exy also has CM13 and released to the public even though it has a slight laggy touch input bug

There is no point at all releasing a rom that is far from usable. But you just have to be patient. There probably will be a working version eventually:

Thanks man! Just contacted him btw and asked if he could give me a link to download it.
@Azar_98
It isn't even released yet. You can track GearCM's GitHub and see what changes are made for our device-tree, rather than request a blind build.
