the battery i am currently using seems to be fake so i would like to use my old one again.
Sadly my old battery got some little pressure marks on it because i wasnt careful removing it. (thought not going to need it again)
So do you think this battery is safe to use? Please take a look at the pictures.
By the way: i dont want to invest 40€ in a new battery, bought directly from LG, because my digitizer seems to fail also (vertical non-responsive line)

As long as there wasn't any penetration and it's completely sealed, i think it would be okay. To be honest though, I wouldn't risk it. These batteries can cause quite an explosion.

A friend dropped their HD2 from a quad bike. Not sure of the cosmetic damage yet but he says it no longer works, that the cable has disconnected from the motherboard. However, i don't think he has stripped it down so no idea how he would know that.
So, presuming it looks ok, is there anything to look for in repairing this? Are they easy to fix or is a knock like this likely to have damaged it beyond repair?
I have yet to see it but i presume there is no sign of life as opposed to any sort of 'erratic' behaviour.
I have a HD2, i am just seeing if it is fixable as wifey wants one.

i dropped mine quite severely, massive multiple cracks all up the screen, gps no longer works, but otherwise its worked fine for 8 months now.
I wouldnt kow what to look for inside, but two things come to mind.
1st - teh battery pins bend easily, so i can imagine a battery flying out might easily do that, so check that.
2nd - the official htc training stripdown video is on youtube, might be worth watching that a few times before and during stripdown.
I already found the excellent strip down video and feel confident in dismantling it. I just have no idea what to check and/or replace. Thanks for the tips though guys...
Check for power, i.e. bent battery pins, disconnected ribbon cables. Look for obvious signs of breakage (cracked CPU, etc.)
Apart from that, haul it to someone who's got better equipment.

Ok, recently I've been having freezing problems constantly and I found out that is was my old sim card that was causing the most problem with that deal. I got a new sim and it is working much better, but still has some freezes but not as much as before. I can conclude that my HD2 has always run hot, but now that I got a new sim it doesn't run as hot but I think the heat sensor is faulty as it barely gets hot but freezes my phone anyways. I got to thinking is there anyway we can either disable or bypass the heat sensor on our HD2 software wise or even hardware wise? So I google searched and stumbled on to this:

Now, this scared me. I think there is a reason why there is a temperature safety valve on our phones!

Often these batteries do not have any fuses or security stuff in them because they just want to produce a cheap product.
It sucks for that guy that his phone exploded and caught fire...glad he's okay.
But the important thing is, anyone else catch those baby blue bed sheets with the bugs on them? Priceless!
i think a lot of the dead touch input problems are related to the phone getting hot,
I recently bought a replacement hd2, cos mine, tho it worked fine, had a cracked screen. I started using my old hd2 just to charge the extra battery i now had, swapping out the batteries once or twice a day, so the old phone, tho it wasn't being used, was plugged in to wall charger most of the time, and within a few days (a week, tops) the screen has gone. No touch input at all. 18 months without a glitch, and bang, gone. So glad i pre-emptively replaced it!
Is it possible for HTC to issue a recall for HD2 owners? Just like Apple did a recall recently with their really old iPod Nano for a new one.

That sucks, haha. My battery runs at 31-36 degrees, its quite hot, but I'm not that worried at it running at that heat, don't think it'll catch fire.

I'm afraid you are right，many batteries made in China with that huge a storage is fake and useless. There is a highly risk that it might blow your phone when they got too hot.
Never let your HD2 get too warm, my last one broke because of that.
Exploding fireball HD2s aside...has anyone ever thought of how to disable the heat sensor? Maybe something fun to do on an HD2. That'd be cool!
I am replacing the screen of a nexus 4. Taking out the battery posed a significant difficult and now I'm worried I've damaged the battery. Just how flexible is the battery and should I be worried? I'm thinking about simply replacing it with a new one but I want to make sure.
Also should I need to dispose of the battery where do I go (I'm in the UK).
I've uploaded some pictures of the battery showing how bent it is. Although it was a little worse during its removal.

Thanks, that's a load of my mind. I finish putting it together tomorrow and see how things fair.
I have a 910T3 that I slow charge (AC) most of the time. When I see the green light go on, I unplug and see 100%, but after I reboot into TWRP recovery it is usually like 93%. Which one is accurate? I'd prefer the green light to go on when it's really 100%. Thank you.
Also, the stock battery is about 20 months old, and I can use it to about 0%-1% before it shuts off.
You could try reinitializing your battery. However seeing as your battery is that old. You would be better off getting a new one.
What is reinitializing the battery? I really wanted to avoid buying a new battery unless I really had to. I've read people's battery dying at like 25% left, that's when I'd buy a new one.

Above post is correct as your battery is quite old it is probably time for a new one. My old note 4 was very similar to this before the emmc failed in it it would always show different percentages on battery,the phone died before i got to replace battery though

Man I was hoping it wasn't time for a new battery just yet. Also, sorry to hear about your n4. Looks like eventually all of them will die like that soon. I swear this was planned cause the n5 wasn't that great, trying to thin out the n4 herd.

I loved my note 5. Battery killed in it too twice i haad a note 7 edge rom on it

I tried the no5 for a bit, but wasn't really impressed with it. It had it's pros and cons, but I felt the no4 was better overall for my uses. I read others saying pretty much the same thing with sticking with the no4 rather than moving on the no5 cause of no battery or microsd card support etc.
How did you deal with dead batteries out of warranty or did you have both battery issues in the first year?

Lol i bought 3 note 5s and pieced them together with one one good screen and a bad usb port on said screen i swapped the batteries myself I heated the baqck and didnt bust it just scratched it. so i ordered a new back and use small dabs of rubber cement to put it back on.
I do all my own repairs no warranty. i had a verizon tmobile and sprint mother boards luckily I rooted before the usb went out completly and used wifi file transfer and wireless charge for that issue. So much as I now despise Usb ports and no wireless charge on devices.

Wow, I wish I had the skills and patience to do that. I know I'd make things worse and end up paying more in the long run for parts and fixing it. I think that is a huge reason why many won't move onto these newer phones without replaceable batteries.
I swapped out an older, but less used oem no4 battery and will see if it's any better.
So I'm using the older battery and lights up green at 100% (same level as TWRP rec).
But today, my phone just shut off at around 35-39% while in the middle of streaming a short video clip. Only way to turn it back on was to remove then reinsert the battery. Is this normal of dying batteries around the last 1/3 or could this possibly be an unstable kernel issue.
Any oficial way to change the battery of a Nexus 6p? Mine is working horrible lately
The battery in this phone is a known issue. There is a way to do it and if you Google tutorials for it you'll find quite a few. If you have never disassembled a smart phone before I don't recommend doing it your self. I would recommend buying all of the spare parts and paying a cell phone repair store to complete the project for you.
I replaced mine. It wasn't too bad, however, the black plastic rim around the screen is SO fragile and chipped in a couple of places. Other than that, pretty easy to do.
I would take it to a shop. Atleast they have the correct tools and hopefully not damage the phone. I also have to replace my battery as it started to act up.
Thanks for the info. I live in Mexico so I don't really rely on any phone repairing store.. haha. I guess I will have to wait for the pixel 2.. and hope that the battery on that will be more durable
If you get yourself a really fine blade, some guitar picks and this site it's not too hard. Just test the new battery out before you close it back up. I did it flawless the first attempt but when the replacement battery was defective out of frustration I marked up the sides taking it out a second time. Also when prying on the battery just remember there is a important cable running through the middle underneath. Ultimately your decision of course maybe just selling it down the road and getting a newer model if you can hold out. ?
