I tried out CM12 for my Sprint S4 (L720). I was able to root it, but never able to install TWRP and make a Nandroid. I then decided to Odin (V3.09) back to stock with the file 720VPUFNG2_L720SPTFNG2_L720VPUFNG2_HOME.tar.md5. Odin completed with the PASS message displayed. Upon reboot, it got stuck at the words 'SAMSUNG' after playing a musical note. I've tried Odin several time and each time it Passes, but with the same stuck on reboot symptom. Any hints on how to resolve would be appreciated.
As an aside, I've also tried to Odin TWRP several times thinking I could restore a prior stock Nandroid if I could get into TWRP recovery. Again, Odin displayed PASS, but phone cannot enter recovery. It just goes back to the stuck reboot when pressing the enter recovery buttons.

You have to wipe your internal SD after installing a Lollipop ROM. Go back into Download Mode and install TWRP again, this time make sure Auto Reboot is not checked. After it says PASS, disconnect the phone from PC and remove the battery. Replace the battery and hold Power and Volume Up until it goes into recovery. Wipe the Internal SD, system, data, cache, and dalvik cache and flash your ROM.

Thanks. I did exactly as you said, but following the Odin of TWRP it just goes into stuck boot mode instead of TWRP recovery. It says PASS each time. I was sure to uncheck Auto Reboot and I also removed the battery the instant PASS was displayed. Any more ideas greatly appreciated. I seems amazing that it says PASS, but nothing changes?

It's not supposed to boot, when you turn the phone on hold Power and Vol Up until you see Recovery Booting in blue at the top of the screen and then release. Just like booting into Download Mode but you hold Volume Up instead.

Thanks again. Yes, I follow your instructions, but it goes into stuck boot instead of recovery when pushing the correct buttons. I've used the buttons to go into recovery previously so don't think I'm getting that part wrong. As you say, it's just like going into Downloader mode except you use VolUp instead of VolDn.
I recently sent my 900F back as it was having some overheating issue. They sent me a new S5, also a 900F with a CSC for the UAE.
I have tried to flash Philz recovery (nothing I have donent a dozen times before on my previous S5), but with no luck apparently. ODIN says the flash works fine, but when I reboot into recovery, the stock recovery is still there.
Is the BL locked? or am I missing something?
Thanks for any info, ideas, suggestions

OK guys, disregard...
On my I tried flashing another version of Philz, and that worked. Not sure what is was having an issue with, but its good now.
do not let the phone reboot after odin finish, disconnect immediately and manually go into recovery by holding down power, home and volume up at the sametime
Update 2: Use this thread and TWRP and everything is fine http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2697762
Update: If you dont reboot after flashing, you can go into philz recovery. Disable "auto-reboot" in ODIN. When flashed successfully (PASSED): hold power, home, volume up until it boots into recovery.
--------------------
I wrote the following text before I noticed this thread. It seems to be the same problem. Where do I get another recovery file from?
--------------------
Hey Guys,
i tried to flash philz_touch_6.26.2-klte.tar following this guide: how-to-root-galaxy-s5
I went through all steps succesfully and also odin3 v1.85 told me, that the recovery was successfull installed (See photo). Unfortunately when trying to boot into recovery philzs recovery is not present, but "Android System recovery" instead. I tried to flash the recovery twice. Both tries showed "PASSED" in ODIN.
I dont know what exactly went wrong. I assume that their is a problem to boot into philzs recovery cause i get a short popup inbetween "Loading recovery" and "Android System recovery" which says: "Kein Befehl" (engl. No command).
I would be very pleased if you could tell me what i can try else.
Thank you very much for your support.

@mellhen.......
Assuming you are trying to root the F variant, this method will work......
....Follow exactly....
1) deactivate 'Reactivation Lock' (can be found under Security in Settings).
2) copy SuperSU zip to your device.
3) boot into download mode. (Vol -, Power & Home button combination)
4) Odin flash TWRP 2.8.7.0 (specifically this version).
5) DO NOT allow phone to boot, (uncheck auto reboot in odin and if necessary remove the battery as soon as the TWRP flash has completed) then.....
6) boot directly into recovery. (Vol +, Power & Home button combination)
7) flash SuperSU zip.
8) boot device as normal.
Odin v3.10.7....

Dear friends,
I have me problem today, i found my note 3 N9005 keep bootloop.
I was thought because i just change the recovery from philz to TWRP, so i try to enter both Recover Mode and Download Mode without any success.
* My phone keep boot loop (when i re insert the battery, it automatically on and shown Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005 logo and suddenly down)
* I am trying to get into recovery Mode, but no work (shown only recovery booting... with Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005 logo and suddenly down)
* I am trying to get into download mode, and when i press Continue, and the menu appear, it suddenly shut down.
i have no idea what to and kindly your help.
thanks
Chou
Reads as you have flashed the wrong recovery not your model .
Solve
i have manage to make it On again
here what i did :
1. take off your battery
2. Open the case of your phone and open all the screw then take off the inside case ( i really mean it)
3. connect an usb cable
4. press volume down plus home button the insert the battery,,,it will goes to download mode (now you can flash your recovery preferable Philz and the phone will reboot )
5. Phone back to live
the problem is the power button is broken, thats make your phone boot loop and cant enter Download mode...
when you can make it On, you cant make it off..so you have to install Reboot apps
I have almost the same problem with my Samsung Galaxy note 3 N9005. It is on bootloop. I can enter in download mode. I have instaled official rom for this model, but the phone enter in recovery boot loop and is restarting itselff
I dissasembly the note 3, i have clean it up, but the problem remains. I cant enter into recovery

My power buton is ok, and icould enter to download mode, I flashed official rom but it enter in bootloop in recovery
Are you sure its the correct firmware .
What else have you been flashing ??
You may be flashing older firmware over newer bootloader .
i have tried to flash 10 different stock roms with Lollipop, and 3 roms with KK, but it still not booting up. I suspect that the motherboard has a hard issue, who makes to enter in bootloop but it doesn.t enter on bootloo if i enter in download mode. Is so weird
Try flashing a TWRP recovery tar via Odin and see if it boots .
I have tried allready. It boots the same way, except it shows me: Set waranty bit: recovery, but it enters still in bootloop.

vol+ and vol- aren't working, vol- and powerbutton doesn't run recovery, neither vol+ and pwr btn, Literally, it does nothing but shows that logo.
Bootloader is locked.
What I have tried?
I have entered to 9008 mode (2 wires from USB cable circuted - it enters 9008 mode, sometimes 900E) and then flashed few roms :
-Global-7.5.9.0, 8.0.3.0 and 8.2.1
with success (at least Miflash beta says so, it didn't work on older miflash) but phone still shows only that penguin.
What else can I do?

Lol... Seems like your device turned into Linux. :silly:
Your device seems hard bricked... Seems like your aboot (in which partition bootloader is stored) is corrupted... As aboot controls everything including fastboot, recover, ROM... Without it nothing will work
Then why I am able to install ROM in download 9008 mode with success?
After flash Global-7.5.9.0(fastboot Rom) in redmi 3s prime penguin logo fix?
answer me plz: penguin logo fix after flash?

Hi,
I'm new on Samsung devices modding, and I would like to know if is possible to unbrick my Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 2019 T290, below are the steps I made to current status:
1- Unlocked bootloader apparently (OEM LOCK = OFF)
2- Tried to flash LineageOS recovery
3- Bootloop, then after few reboots system started without issues.
4- Locked bootloader after enter in samsung download mode, long press up, and then confirm to lock bootloader.
5- After reboot, just boot directly to download mode, without possibility to enter to recovery
6- Flashed stock ROM to try to revert any change made, but still boots to download mode.

yes, i flashed with Odin, but not success.
Steps I made for installing stock ROM:
1- Download the firmware specific for my tablet T290
2- Extracted files
3- With Odin, I checked:
3.1- AP with its file
3.2- BL with its file
3.3- CP with its file
3.4- CS with HOME CS file
4- In Options settings, was checked auto reboot and f. reset time
I'm stuck in the same situation, only difference is, I've still got the older T290_DBT_T290XXU3CVG3_fac firmware installed. Does anybody know the meaning of the error message?:

Seems that there is no easy solution, I'm considering buying a new motherboard from ebay, found it for 10 bucks, seems not very hard to change the motherboard
Actually, the solution is quite simple, at least in my case:
flash stock rom with odin (auto reboot off)
after stock rom flash, reboot from download mode with vol down & power btn, usb still plugged in
immediately after screen turns dark, release power btn and press vol up and vol down
download mode/unlock bootloader menu will appear
continue with unlocking bl (long press vol up)
confirm prompt of factory reset
tablet will automatically reboot and perform factory reset and restart again
stock rom boots after this.
Still wondering about the meaning of the aforementioned "reason vbmeta" error message though.
