Hi all, just updated the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 to CyanogenMod 5.1.1 ROM. Phone doesn't recognize SIM card (I live in UK) anymore, baseband is showing as "unknown" under the About Phone section. Please can someone let me know where I can download the Baseband/Modem firmware for SM-N910F?
Many thanks!
You could attempt to download the full stock firmware by either using 'Samfirm' or the website 'Sammobile'
Unbranded Note 4 CSC is BTU but it is currently still on Android 5.0.1 but the modem and bootloader will still work fine with Cyanogenmod ROMs.
Right, I did download the official Samsung firmware N910FXXU1BOC5 from a website, but when flashing with Odin 3.09 I was getting a error. So I ended up using the customized ROM which didn't seem to have the baseband/model inside. How could I extract the baseband from the official firmware in MD5 format?

Bootloader
Modem
Put your phone in download mode manually (Pull the battery out and put it back in after 10 seconds and then hold volume down + Home button and power on the device) Then connect it to your PC and run Odin as Admin and flash the bootloader and modem.
Make sure you uninstall Kies if you have it installed.

Hi mate,
I have a quick question with which I hope you can help (if you have the time of course ). There is a newer firmware version for UK, which is COK3 (and O2, which is what I have), and I'd like to update to this one, but the only way I know would be to update the phone entirely and then root it again and install whatever mod rom I'm using from there. However, this would be a painful lot of work. Do you know (or mind sharing) how to extract the baseband from an official md5 release so as to update this only or as well as the bootloader? Is there any way to put the entire firmware md5 file on Odin and tell the software to update just one thing?
I saw that you did just that above and I'm having some trouble with the phone connection being lost quite often, so it would be of great help.
Many thanks in advance for your help mate!
Cheers

Thanks for the quick response mate! You are the man! I still have a couple of questions though. Firstly, what's the difference between the cp and bl files in the link in your signature? I take it that bl stands for bootloader, but not sure of what cp stands for then. In any case, the most important bit I need/want is the baseband, and since I'm in the UK and my network carrier is O2, I believe the XXU1COK3 (as per Sammobile) would be my best bet, is that right? Will it make much of a difference with the XXU1COJ3 that I have installed right now? In any case, is the bl-cok3.tar file in your link the same XXI1COK3 baseband?
Secondly, that other post that you included is for a galaxy s3 and within that topic they link to a galaxy s4 topic, will those files and guidelines also work for our note 4?
Finally, I have TWRP recovery and within advanced backup I can individually backup the boot (which I imagine is the bootloader) and the modem (which I suppose is the baseband as such). Do you know if I could I install a new firmware through Odin and, backup the modem and boot, and then restore everything but those two things from an different rom backup? Have you ever tried?
Thank you for your time bro! I know that these might be a little bit of a newbie's questions but for more thar I search, I can't find anything close enough to answer what I'm asking.

In the bootloader and modem folders I have included the latest Odin, if you use that the 'CP' and 'BL' will make sense.
CP= Modem
BL=Bootloader
The steps should still work for the Note4.
I don't back-up and restore bootloaders or modems using TWRP.

Aah OK, that makes sense. But then the modem I am talking about is not in that list, is it? However, the bootloader is I think. Is there any chance you could extract the xxu1cok3 modem for the UK and O2 to add it to your list? ?? Pretty sure other people would appreciate it too, I know I would :good:

The modem isn't COK3, only the bootloader was.
The modem was COJ3.

I don't see a point in doing that, it won't make a difference. The firmware does not have a 'COK3' modem. So I can't extract it if it doesn't exist. The O2U firmware had a bootloader of COK3, CSC of COJ1 and modem of COJ3.
If the modem isn't working well then you should flash a stock firmware for your region and apply the appropriate CSC.

Would This Work ("Workaround" to Receive Latest Kies Updates Where Not Available)?
Hey everyone,
So, I have a Galaxy S2 on Virgin Mobile Canada, and in Canada, the latest firmware/kernel was KG2, and we all know that KG2 is slightly old, compared to KH3 (or higher, I'm not sure atm) in Europe.
Now, we all know that Europe is the first to receive OFFICIAL updates to the latest firmware/kernel via Samsung Kies.
What I'm thinking is that I can change the "Region Code" on my device, to 'trick' Kies into thinking I'm located in Europe, and then it will deliver to me the latest OFFICIAL firmware/kernel update. After updating, I can install the stock KG2 modem for Bell/Virgin (if you're located in a different country, just use your local modem/baseband) via Odin. Then I can use CF-Root Kernel to root my device, then revert back to stock.
This way, I have a Galaxy S2 with the latest official firmware/kernel, a modem that still works perfectly with my provider/network, and root, with no yellow triangle!
However, I don't wish to mess anything up, so I haven't tried this yet. Do you guys think that it can work, and is a viable option instead of waiting for official updates to come to my region? Can anyone maybe try this and post their results/findings (or maybe someone has already done this?)? Also, would all apps like "Samsung Apps" and the Android Market still work properly, as in for my region? What other problems could I possibly run into? I'm mostly concerned about the Market...
I got my S2 free ! from Orange UK 5 days ago, love it, what an upgrade from my 18 months used X10 .
Anyway they do what you want with the X10 so I suppose it can be done with S2 though I dont know for sure.
I used to follow the X10 forum (here now) though I left my X10 stock and was happy with it but I rooted this the 3rd day already and unlocked the simlock ready for my Holiday next week = super low cost local data (50p uk per gig).
What a great device this is !!
Or you can just tell kies to stuff it and flash roms via odin.
Once you update with kies, changing the modem will mean you wont automatically get new updates anyway, as it wont recognise the firmware combination.

So, you're saying that using Odin would be much easier?
Also, I've heard that the KH3 modem works really well with Bell/Virgin, but incase I need to revert, I can always use Odin to flash the KG2 modem while keeping my KH3 kernel/firmware, right?
So, if I just download the Europe KH3 firmware from "http://samfirmware.com", then I just use Odin to flash it, and I'm done? Will it wipe any of my data? Also, would the European firmware work in Canada?

If you have the i9100T You need to use one of the T stock modems or your wifi/bluetooth/data wont work very well/at all (so i hear), but yes you can mix and match rom+kernel and modems from different releases without any problems.
As far as getting a rom, grab a non wipe version from this thread and you should keep everything.

I have the i9100M. I have heard great reports of the KH3 modem with it, so I'm pretty confident it'll work fine.
So, I just download the KH3 files from that link, and then flash via Odin?
Is it a must to flash the CSC as well, or can I leave that out?

The M is fine to use any modem/rom, it will change the model code to just i9100 though, might be changed back by flashing the stock firmware though.
Yes flash via odin.
No you dont need to flash the CSC unless you get problems, but you might as well, the worst that can happen is that you need to manually enter your APN settings.
Hello,
When ever I download a firmware file it comes as one file, e.g.: I9505XXUBMGA_I9505ITVBMH1_I9505XXUBMGA_HOME.tar.md5
When I put it in Odin (AP) I get a Fail(Auth) error. However, when I try to install a firmware that is divided into separate files, e.g.:
AP_I9505XXUFNA5_373648_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar
BL_I9505XXUFNA5_373648_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar
CP_I9505XXUFNA5_373648_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar
CSC_OXA_I9505OXAFNA5_373648_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar
The flashing procedure succeeds, I use the same cable and the same USB port.
What could be the cause?

Ived seen a few people saying you can downgrade your phone into 4.3 by using mobile odin pro...So do this at your own Risk. And Sammobile released another kitkat leak 4.4.2 FNAD firmware today so you might wanna check that out . And im sure Samsung will release the Official kitkat firmware soon .

I have another question. The reason I opened this thread is because i'm having reception issues for quite some time.
I changed to a different carrier today, the device cannot connect to the new carrier, I also changed to the new firmware
you just mentioned, still nothing.
Should I try to flash a different modem? if so, which of the modems are compatible with this version of firmware?
Thanks

Hey all!
Is it possible to downgrade from a newer (NE3) firmware to an older (ND3) through Odin or it will brick my phone because of the bootloader?
The only things I know are that 1) Downgrade from 4.4.2 to 4.3 is not possible 2) It's possibile to install a custom older rom on new bootloader and vice versa BUT I don't know if it's possible with stock roms with Odin.
I looked for a solution but nothing found and no one answered me so I opened this thread to find out a solution.
Thanks in advance.
UP still interested because NE4 + custom kernel gives problems that others doesn't have

I never actually tried going back to an older version but I really don't see why you shouldn't. As long as it's KitKat 4.4.2 just try it should work. I downgraded my Modem and haven't had any issue.
With the Bootloader worry...did you even change the bootloader? As well as the Modem you have to do that separate to the Rom, as flashing a Rom doesn't touch Modem an Bootloader!!! If you don't know how to do that please just leave it alone though unless you read, read, read a lot on how to do that.

Thanks for the reply, every time I install a new rom I make sure to update the bootloader and modem too, and from what I can read from the Synapse app I have the NE3 modem and NE4 bootloader.
I'm asking how to go back to older roms because going from 4.4.2 to 4.3 updating the bootloader with Odin you obtain only a fancy paper weight, and I didn't know if going from newer to older 4.4.2 bootloader it was the same story.

I'm pretty sure there won't be an issue mate since I flash between custom roms almost daily which are most of the time different models. If you want to be 100% sure wait for someone to confirm as I'm rooted since I got the chance to do so.
Thanks to the developer Civato I read on his FlexKat thread he correctly downgraded his bootloader from NE6 to ND6 with Odin...
So problem solved, this is definitely possible.
Thank you everyone for your replies :good:
Downgrading bootloaders on the same version generally tends to work OK, mainly because on 4.3 Samsung patched the security flaw which stopped you going <MJ7
Kith Kitkat I never had any issues flipping back and forth.--- Until it's a BL upgrade with OS Number change (IE: 4.4.3 if it has new BL) then it shouldn't work.
hi. sorry, this is probably an old thread but I need some help, please and somehow,Google got me here. I want to downgrade (not really downgrade) my N9005 to 4.4.2.
I currently have a custom ROM(resurrection remix v5.6.9,in settings it says that I have android 6.0.1 marshmallow). Also,I have a custom recovery(TWRP). Well,I would like to install the KitKat stock ROM and really did a lot of research but I cannot find it anywhere :'( . Do you know any source? And also, can I flash it with mobile ODIN? When I opened Mobile Odin Pro it said that if I don't have the boot loader for the ROM I want to install then I will experience a soft brick. Isn't TWRP a good boot loader?
Also, does it matter what version of N9005 I own? mine is: XXUGBOJ1. Could I flash smth that is not for this ..base band is it called?...
pls help
I'm such a newbie and I don't wanna mess up

hey dude if i do a flashing faliure will kies fix it?
What FW is on your phone right now? and what are you trying to upgrade to?
Questions belong in Q&A, not General.
Thank you.
Now that this is in the correct place...
Stock ROMs do not come in a flashable zip format. Kies is not going to help you in this regard, and is absolutely useless for fixing flashing problems that may crop up. Thus, you'll have to use Odin, like it or not.
I'm assuming you want to upgrade your ROM, so please post the following information:
1. Model Number
2. Android Version, found by going to Settings > More > About device.
3. Firmware Version (AP, CP, CSC), found by dialing *#1234# in the dialer or by installing Phone Info from the Play Store and running it.
4. Service Provider
5. Country
6. Is the phone rooted? (Yes/No)
7. Is a custom ROM installed? (Yes/No, and the name of the ROM)
Some of this may seem redundant, but putting it all in one post makes it easier to help you.
Hi there,
I just started testing a custom ROM (audax) on top of my G928G that was originally running with PDA G928GUBU2AOJ4 / CSC G928GZTO2AOJ4 with arter97´s kernel and Phillz Recovery.
All went well with the ROM flashing.
But then I downloaded the modem / baseband from the ROM´s thread (CP-MODEM G928F: Modem_XXU2AOKB) and tried flashing it with Odin (using the CP option).
I hit the start button and it appeared to be flashing... but returned a fail at the end.
The cellphone is fully operational.
What did I miss? Do I have to flash the modem AND the bootloader together for it work?
Thanks in advance!
Well... just tried flashing the bootloader and modem, and this is what I´ve got...
Any ideas?
You may need to get the equivalent for the G variant that you have. I've tried cross flashing modems before on my W8 variant, without success. It's possible that it may work with some modification, but I'm not sure what would be required (or if that is even right). If you just download the full ROM for the G variant from somewhere like sammobile then you can extract at least the modem and flash it..
