Broadlink RM-2 + Tasker + RM Plugin + AutoWear. Control IR and 433/315 MHz RF. Work well.

I wonder if there is an app that can record each button (one by one) of my custom IR remote and then save the command so I can send it through my S4. You know, like in old days, record IR command of each button than save it as a remote for the future.
I just want to control some unbranded products that will never be supported by WatchON or any IR Blaster app out there that count on a list of regular codes for each brand.
Thanks in advance! :fingers-crossed:

I am also Looking for something Like this. Somebody Can shed light on this?
Unfortunately our S4 lacks the hardware to receive IR signals- it can only transmit. I believe the HTC OneX has the learning functions as well. Wonder if one could use one to copy the remote and transfer the files to the S4.
Hello I used to control my Sony DSLR with SGS4 IR remote control, but now I cant find aplication compatible with LG G2 IR blaster and the stock apk doesnt have camera codes. Do you know some apk free or paid with G2 compatibility?
THX
Make a custom remote and just have the phone learn the codes from the DSLR's remote.
what about us who don't have remote at all ?
Does anyone know of a camera remote control app that works on the S4? (I mean an app that can act as a remote control and remote viewfinder on another phone).
I've tried:
- Camera Remote (by BusyWWW) - I couldn't work out how to pair with another phone
- Remote Camera (by Emparador) - this seemed to work, but broke the camera app on the S4
- Remote Shot (by a Far East developer) - this wouldn't preview the viewfinder on the other phone.
Any other ideas??
Not sure if this is interesting to anyone else or not looking for a harmony remote solution but..
Because you can control the Fire TV Stick over ADB: ( sigh.. can't post links, aftnews + how-to-remotely-control-an-amazon-fire-tv-or-fire-tv-stick-via-adb/ )
There are also a few more commands available which you can see here: ( search android KeyEvent ) (for media buttons mainly, but many interesting buttons that might come in handy on the stick)
My setup for this includes.. Logitech Harmony Remote using a Media Center IR receiver on an HTPC using Windows 7, and a Fire TV Stick
I made batch files for each of the remote commands, with an adb connect to the IP of the Stick just incase (it timesout after a while and if it's already connected it ignores the command). Then I setup AutoHotkey to look at my chosen remote commands, there is another autohotkey script that I use that tracks all button presses, so that you can just press the button on the remote and see the code to create a keybinding with. So now I have a script of all of the remote commands that I want which run the corresponding batch file. Then I setup one final script to turn on/off the keybinding script. I chose to use my Guide button to toggle this because I have no DVR in my HTPC anyway.
So the end result is that I can control my Fire TV stick via Harmony Remote -> IR Receiver on HTPC -> Autohotkey keybinding grabs the input when running -> Runs the ADB command for it. When I press Guide it goes into "Fire TV mode", and when I press it again it goes back to normal (so that I can control my HTPC again)
It's not the cleanest and there is a delay because the adb commands take about half a second to trigger, but it works and I'm satisfied for now. Because I haven't seen anyone else with a setup like this I thought I'd share. Just let me know if you want me to provide the scripts I have and go into more detail. I plan on refining it some too because I know next to nothing about batch files (I could probably just have one with different arguments, the only argument is the command number you want to send anyway) or autohotkey.
I'm just setting up a new office lounge.
At home I've used a Vizio Google TV (which has pass-thru HDMI) to control the TV, the Google TV box and the DVR cable box. I'd like to get a Nexus Player for the office but as it doesn't have HDMI switching, I'm wondering what people are doing to reduce the remote clutter?
The TV is a brand new Sony Smart TV (W790B) - unfortunately couldn't wait for an integrated Sony Android TV .
I presume the NP remote is BT so that creates an additional layer of complexity>
I've used some logitech universal remotes in the past which were "ok" but would love first-hand feedback.

You could use a flirc receiver and use any IR control to control the NP.
I am using the Logitech Smart Control with it. There isn't an official profile for it yet but there is a working compatible profile for it. The only key I can't map to it is the menu button. Also, if you rapidly press the buttons, it sometimes loses the connection for a short time. Other than that, it's been awesome only having to use 1 remote!

Thank you for the great suggestion! Do you know how the Smart Control communicates with the NP? Is it by BT? What "compatible profile" did you use?

The Smart Control has a unifying receiver that does both IR and bluetooth. This is where I got the steps to set it up.

Here is a copy and paste of what was said if you don't feel like accessing the link:
1. On the app, go to Harmony Setup > Add / Edit Devices & Activities > Devices > Add Device
2. Select 'Computer' from the list > Windows
3. Select 'Yes' when it asks you if you want to screate a new Activity with the newly added device.
4. Select devices to be included in your activity
5. Select 'Watch PC' for Activity Type
6. Once you've finished up selecting all the input for your devices, it will go into a bluetooh pairing mode to allow you to pair up the remote with the windows computer.
7. Navigate to Settings on your Nexus Player > Remotes & accessories > Add Accessory. Give it a few seconds and it should find a "Harmony Keyboard". Select it, and your'e done.
