I'm planning on returning my Verizon LG G2 VS980 back to exchange for the ATT variant. Sorry if this question is obvious but I was wondering how to revert back to stock, like on 4.4.2 with LG's original os. As of now I'm on 5.1.1 Blisspop and should I use KDZ Method or the TOT Method? Is it even safe to try reverting back? or did I screw up by installing lollipop. Sorry I'm only used to using Samsung phones and using odin to bring them back to stock.

I was wondering what the limitations are on Loki'd devices such as our LG G2? It was my impression that since it bypasses the stock bootloader, you are able to flash any ROMs that are built for the phone. Upon trying to flash Malladus for my Verizon LG G2, I found out that you are only able to flash the ROM if your base stock ROM is 11a and not 12b. Why would this matter since I do a complete wipe? It almost feels like Safestrap in a sense that you need to have custom ROMs that have the same kernel for the stock build. Am I wrong?
Little bump here

Also to note, I backed up my stock 12b ROM in TWRP prior to downgrading to 11a. I tried to then restore it and it wouldn't boot up. It gave a blank black screen just like Malladus did when I tried flashing it on the 12b base ROM.
That is the limitation with loki. It's a hack so it's not gonna work with every rom, only the base stock. I suggest you go to the General Forum and check out the "Go back to stock" stickied thread. Do that before flashing any roms.
Note: the go back to stock method will wipe all data/files on the phone.

That doesn't answer the question that I am asking. I was the stock ROM when I tried flashing Malladus. It currently requires you to be on 11a even though it is a 12b based ROM.
I was, and still am, a little confused as you are. I used the LG flash tool to go back to 11a, rooted, backed up then started flashing from there. Haven't had any issues since. Not 100% sure if that's exactly what's needed but it's worked for me so far... have been able to flash back n forth from kk to stock based roms no problem... good luck and take the proper precautions

Going back to 11a was the answer for Malladus for me. As with what you did, I used the LG Flash Tool to go back to 11a and I was able to flash it. This still doesn't answer the question for me as to why my 12b stock backup didn't restore when I went back to 11a. I was under the impression the whole time that with Loki it was essentially like having an unlocked bootloader because it was bypassing the locked BL.
I'm looking to restore the stock recovery for tmo 4.2.2G and take the kk OTA and remain rooted. I first need to get back to stock recovery but I can't seem to find one. Anyone know where I can find it?

the only way to go back to stock recovery is to go back to stock but you can also follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2673736 which will allow you to have root and custom recovery

Hi Guys, I have read some topics about downgrading, but im not fully understanding if this is only for people who is already rooted or if this will work for a non rooted device. In my case i have an At&t Lg G2 not rooted with 4.4.2 kitkat and wanted to revert to 4.2 so i can root and then flash a rooted stock 4.4.2 kitkat. Is it possible to do that, even if i was never rooted? I do understand there's no root for kitkat as of now.
Thanks guys.

Thanks a lot bro.
Can someone tell me the steps to turn back the G2 to stock for sale so it can accept OTAs without bricking the device?
Is it with the LG flash tool and original rom kdz only?
Or do I have to do anything else?
And then how to change the root status to unrooted?
Thanks!
TOT will make it go unrooted and back to stock. I don't know about kdz...

I have d901 running cloudy g3. I want to unroot my rom back to stock like how it came in the box. Can i just use lg mobile support tool by itself. I would prefer wiping all internal storage. One issue. I have a d801 model running d803 baseband and twrp. So how would i be able to unroot my phone.

No. This guy is on AT&T for one..
You.cant.go.back.to 4.4.2. If you could, this forum wouldn't have a daily "is there root for lollipop yet?" thread

The YouTube link you shared is to the ATT version of the Note 3. I'm not familiar with the ATT Note 3, but with the Verizon Retail Note 3, you can't revert back to 4.4.2 after your phone has been updated to stock 4.4.4 or higher. Verizon has blacklisted the firmware to prevent you from downgrading back to 4.4.2 and earlier builds. If you're on Lollipop.... then you can revert back to 4.4.4, but as far as I know, there's not a working root method for 4.4.4 at this time either.
