is freezing the same as going under settings/apps/running/ and stopping the app? i tried that and moto care just pops right back up

It would be like disabling an app. I use titanium backup to freeze my apps. I bought it a long time ago. You will need to be rooted to freeze an app.

I also use titanium backup one of the main reasons to root...

If there's an OTA, you wont be getting notified if you freeze Update Services app.
Also App Quarantine is a free app that can be used to freeze apps and services (needs root)

Yeah I use Textra also. For calendar I use Business Calendar, you SHOULD NOT freeze the Google Calendar because you can't sync calendar. Just info for other people.

Google Maps is my problem...

Hi there.
I have a Xperia Play with .042 firmware (stock ROM), and only rooted (locked bootloader).
My phone works well, but sometimes feels a bit laggy. I've noticed in the Running Apps list that a lot of times Google Maps turns on even if I didnt open it, and it causes me a lot of that lag, so I have to close it and then the Xplay works well again.
So, my question is, can I uninstall Google Maps and then reinstall it from the Play Store as a non-system app? This should stop thet the app opens itself on its own...
What problems can cause uninstalling Google Maps?
I don't think making it a non system app will stop it from running in the back. I just uninstalled it altogether
Sent from my R800i using Tapatalk 2
It's just Google spying on you. No need to worry.
If you are not sure just freeze it with titanium backup or system tuner pro or something. Nothing will happen if you uninstall it tho.

Use an app called Autostarts to control which apps start automatically and when. No need to uninstall or freeze anything. Its like msconfig/startup manager for android. Its a root app so it gets the job done properly, meaning it stops apps from starting in the first place, not one of those useless apps which kills them after they start.

Good idea. I've frozen it and for now my Xplay goes perfect.

Setting Force close?

Upgraded to 4.4 with a clean wipe. I uninstalled some of the Google apps I never use such as currents ect. After awhile some apps start to force close such as settings. After I reboot or wipe cache or both the apps then reinstall themselves. Strange. I have never had a problem like this in any other version of android. Anyone else?

yea, i found out two weeks ago that you cant uninstall system apps in kitkat without getting a fc in settings. my way around it, i disabled 19 of the apps found in /system/app/ instead of deleting them. it seems to work just as well. pick any of the apps, select to view its info, tben press disable in the app info screen. itll remove that app from the app drawer as well.
Thanks Simms. Your one helpful dude! I always felt better totally getting ride of them to open up more space but it is what it is.

its what i do too, and always done. i have found that you can delete a few apps in /system/app/, like plus one, but they cant be considered system apps. its one of the first things i noticed about kitkat, that settings fc after removing system apps.

This is wrong on so many levels. After years rooting and running custom roms, I'm suddenly stuck with a load of bloatware if I upgrade to 4.4. I only use the account manager and Play Store and don't want any other Google apks, and would like to do without even those two, in fact I have no Google account 99% of the time and both are disabled unless I have to update something.
Hope there's a way out of this...

Email (Exchange) App force closing after root...

Wanted to throw this out there for those of you that use an Exchange email with the native email app on your rooted 10.1...
I noticed this issue once I rooted the device but to be honest I never really checked prior to; once the device sleeps and I awake it I try and entering the email app via a notification in the taskbar OR from the actual email app itself, the device hangs for 4-7 seconds and it tells me the email app stopped unexpectedly. However I can reopen once that opens and use the app just as normal from that point on. Now I should note the tablet runs lightning quick doing anything else and only crashes on the email app.
The only thing I can attribute this problem to is me rooting the device. I disabled some of the bloatware which was listed in the "speed guide" thread; Knox, Samsung bloat, etc.. I'll take a pic of the apps I froze once I have a chance so everyone can see. but without that, does anyone know what the problem may be? maybe someone experienced the same problem?
Any suggestions?

It has nothing to do with rooting. Rooting by itself doesn't change apps. It's the power that comes with rooting that sometimes affects things negatively. There are few posts about this. I bet you froze MyMagazine app, and it creates this problem. Unfreeze it and email will be back to normal. There are 2 "My Magazine" processes: you need to unfreeze "My Magazine 1.0.0" process.

I'll take the man.
Only Samsung software engineers know why My Magazines affects email.
What do you recommend if someone deleted my magazine instead of freezing it or making a backup first?

How to stop 4.4.3 update notification

OK, so I am running Beanstalk, and want to stay that way... problem is that I keep getting the factory 4.4.3 update notification. I thought I would be a simple thing to just turn off the SystemUpdateService in Google Services Framework, but it was already disabled. Then I found the SystemUpdateService in Google Play Services and disabled it, problem then is the phone would not sleep.
It's not a huge deal, but is there a simple way to stop the update notifications yet not effect anything else? I remember in the Rezound we used to do a little edit to prop.build and all was well, anything like that here to make the Google Services think that the phone is already on 4.4.3 even when it isn't until the ROM can get updated?

I found one but it is, or might be, Beanstalk ROM specific... I disabled the SystemUpdateService in Google Play Services than used Wakelock Blocker to stop the wakelocks, been fine since.

Settings --> Applications --> Google Play Services --> Uncheck "Notifications" option
You can stop only the upgrade notification with the app Autorun Manager

That's why I mentioned Autorun Manager. You can select the services individually with this app.

Clash of Clan and Hitman Sniper not working on XPE

I just got the XPE 2015 today and can't get these two app to work. Clash of Clan is just stuck at a blank dark screen. I already install the app/ reboot the phone several time.
Hitman Sniper isn't working either. The app launches but get stuck at 100% installation. I am serious thinking about returning if I can't these super popular game to work on a brand new phone.
Clash works great on my Moto xpe ... Not sure what might cause that... Are you dl on Wi-Fi or mobile network? Sometimes mobile causes errors

It's a simple game that works on $50 phone. I don't see why the hell XPE is giving me so much trouble. I did root it but I don't see how that has anything to do with it.
Works fine here since day 1.

Found the root cause but I can't fix it. I convert facebook to system app by mistake, STUPID of me but it happened. I try to uninstall it using system app remover apps but that only removed the APK file but the phone still thinks it's still installed. I go to Play Store, I don't see any option to uninstall, just disable. Not sure what to do next now.
