Hello i extracted this tweaks from xperia z3 ROM and it seems to be working,I went from 5 hours Sot to 6+ hours Sot add them to bottom of build.prop, and put the file in system/etc with 644 permission then reboot

thanks to berndt_toast we have a flashable zip!
use adaptive brightness to get maximum potential battery save!
Lot of people tried this mod and told me that adaptive brightness works better and faster with assertive display, also in direct sunlight display is more visible
Have you noticed any performance issues/problems? I'll test this out and give some feedback in a couple days.

So we're supposed to add this to the bottom of our build.prop file(which is in system) and then put it in system/etc. Does that mean we should keep our original file in system and also have this one in system/etc?

Interesting! Ill give it a shot.

I beleive he means, add the tweaks to build.prop as normal in /system and then add the downloaded file from the dropbox link to /system/etc and change permissions.
Thanks for this! Im always down for ways to save more juice! I just installed everything following the OP instructions and rebooted....phone is up and running! Everything seems ok so far.....have to give it some time to see if battery is any different
Thanks again:good:
Edit: Phone "feels" a lot faster for some reason....haven't changed any other settings in probably about a week??
Thanks again!
After half a day I'm going to have to say I'm convinced. I usually only make it to 3.5-4 hours of sot and I'm over 4.25 hours and still have 30% battery left. This is encrypted on M preview 3.
Disregard

I have no idea what this does.... But I'm a believer. I usually take my phone off the charger at 6am and have to charge early afternoon with around 3 hours screen on... Applying this last night I'm still at 43% at 730 pm and over 4 hours screen on time. I never got over 4 before. Now I also applied a black theme so that may be helping but this is much better than before.
Is this just for N6? Would it work on CM based Rom?

I applied it through the original method, but that was only because the zip came earlier today... If it was available yesterday I would have just flashed the zio.
Let's see if this works for me
Is there going to be a revert zip? Thanks

When my battery reaches 5% the screen dims (probably to the lowest brightness possible) so much that when outside the phone is not usable because I can't see anything and the brightness slider from the notification bar disappears. Is there a way to disable this? btw power saving is turned off.
Also does anybody knows if the phone slows down cpu/gpu when on low battery because I've been playing some games on low battery and I think they were a bit "laggy" but power saving was turned off.

I hate this feature as well, but it's on all phones that run android
It's built into the system
At 5% power, brightness goes to minimum
It's good feature, but when you have extended battery, it's really annoying with still a lot of power left. Screen becomes pretty dark.
And the fact that power of extended battery does not show correctly, it's 5% us not even like 10, but could actually be like 20, makes it even a bigger problem

Any ideas how to fix this issue ?
There's no actual way to override low power at 5%
It's built-in android.
If you really need backlight, get app in market, called adjbrightness, that's one word.
It can override brightness to any percentage you details yourself, it actually guess from 0-255, but it won't Activate auto brightness, since that blocked by android due to low power.
So just use that apply if you really need more light on screen till next charge cycle.

That's what I've thought
You need stock rom and stock kernel
Otherwise, everything is messed up.
You don't have necessary modules for the program to work with.

This app worked for me:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.pruss.superdim
5% low battery no brightness adjustment
This is absolutely bs! I really can't stand samsung for doing this the only thing that I would say that puts samsung a downfall. I tried to do the same thing and rooted or not makes no difference. My guess is that it must be custom rom med or at least hack the binary and system to customize. Example remove enabled 5% lowest brightness from the system and identifying what the name of the file of system thats corsing the problem.
worked for me!
Wow you are my saviour. I've been having a problem with my battery showing a fualty value after rooting my galaxy tab 4 with stock ROM and kernel. My battery always reads 1% even though I charged it not too long ago. I can finally use my device again! Thanks so much!

This works great on rooted Galaxy Note 4 with stock rom. I'm using a zerolemon battery on it and it stays at 1% for hours. Finally a way around the screen dimming issue. Thank you.
I'm so relieved just to discover at least ONE person disturbed by this one most absolitely damming function
I saw quite a few topics comparing consumption with various kernels, setups, roms. But most of those are done by one person using one phone with different setup. Even if there would be variety of people, the information would be lost in discussions. Here I want you to post structured informations about your achievements in battery usage. Please post in following structure:
1. Battery life hours;
2. Screen on time hours;
3. Battery type;
4. Rom
5. Kernel
6. Screenshots to prove 1 and 3
7. Special notes, like consumption in offscreen time, and during screen on or some special undervolting or anything else.
My desire to see world records in battery life discipline.
My personal records were done on gingerbread rom with don't remember what kernel and conditions but believe it was tegracs kernel.

I just hit a new record. I'm on the Bell (Canadian Phone Company) official 4.1.2. I use greenify to hibernate things like facebook and keep them from running the background. I used titanium backup to disable a host of system programs that I don't use/need. I also have setCPU running at its default settings.
Last week I made it to 7d 54m 24s
I forgot to look how much screen time I used but it made up 25% of my power consumption. When I'm at home or at work I have access to a PC so I only use the phone for texting, checking the odd email etc....
If I'm out of town I might get 2 days on it. My average is 4-5 days. I must not have used it too much last week.
I also have an Anker battery in it (as my originals charge time started to decrease). It seems to do rather well (maybe even slightly better than the stock battery).

I didn't save the main screen, I think those shots were made about 3 years ago. And you just have to trust me that that 11 hours were true. BUT there's one trick here. My phone had an issue at that time, it couldn't go to sleep. I put it by my bed and closed flipper over the screen. When I woke up, I picked up the phone and noticed that screen was just a little darkened but not off. I looked at screen time and was shocked, made that screen... The rest you know. so, you right that this result is out of range.

I went 7 days before I had to charge it. There's no way that was 7 days of screen time.. lol. Maybe a few hours of screen time in there. If you click on the thumbnail it will go to imagebam and make it bigger.
I never thought to screenshot the detailed screen page where it says the hours you used. I just took that snapshot because I'd never made it to 7 days before (even though I rode it all the way down to 1% power). I also use an Anker battery in it, which seems to give it a smidge more power (even though the physical battery is the same size as a stock battery).

I used to do pretty good on stock ICS 4.0.4 roms. They never released 4.0.4 in Canada so I think I used a rom from the UK. It was really light on battery consumption. Way better than gingerbread, 4.0.3 or 4.1.2.
The only downside was wiping the phone with 4.0.4 using certain programs would brick the phone so I think alot of people avoid the 4.0.4 roms (and probably why the didn't finish spreading globally).
Wow.
You guys have some good results there.
But 7 days I can hardly believe.
Cheers.
Hey guys,
i want to make this thread because i use CM instead of the Stock rom and didn't find a battery thread for it.
This thread i want to use to share battery states and improvement hints.
I'm also working on a kind of app which should help you improve your battery life.
For me it is really worth at the moment, i get almost 1% battery drain per our over night.
I will use the first posts to share important hints and statistics.
Tools:
-Wakelock Detector (to detect which wake locks keep the device awake)
-Battery Monitor (to get info's of battery - i recognize that my battery shows only 2500maH after 1 year)
-BatteryGuru (Qualcomm App which should improve battery life - in my opinion it doesn't)
Cheers

i'll found out that the wlan drains a LOT of battery and when i mean a lot it is a lot with wlan on over night lost 1%-2% per hour with wlan deactivated i lost not even 1% per hour
will look into it, compiling cm12 atm and make some kernel tweaks
don't think that the .zip will help .... the biggest difference is the govenor change from interactive to ondemand which will also cause loose a lot of perfomance

Believe me it will help a lot ! That's what i'm using from 5 or 6 months till now. I never had any battery drain with my z1c or my z2.
Try to replace your original "power_profile.xml" (when you decompile framework-res.apk) with this one. The original consume a lot of battery.

Most of the values you specify in the init.d files are redundant as they are already set.
Perhaps you should take a look at the original firmware. Where did you get your values from?

No! This changes only what is displayed. Further, the values are totally wrong. I am afraid you don't know what you are doing.
Tinkering with power_profile.xml doesn't change the battery consumption a bit!
Hello guys,
I have finally found out what does really cause the battery drain on Sony's latest Nougat releases:
Well Sony was "intelligent" again and totally miscallibrated the Virtual Memory Values
So I did new callibratons and also added 1 tweak to improve it even more
Requirements:
Latest Stock Nougat (tested on Z5 Premium, I don't know if it works on other devices too)
Root
A Root Explorer which can edit texts
Guide:
1.) Open your Root Explorer and navigate to /system/etc and open the file init.qcom.post_boot.sh
2.) Now scroll down to the last lines
3.) Add now these lines at the end of the script:
Code:
echo 'N' > /sys/module/msm_thermal/parameters/enabled
echo '1' > /sys/module/msm_thermal/vdd_restriction/enabled
echo '0' > /proc/sys/vm/laptop_mode
echo '60' > /proc/sys/vm/overcommit_ratio
echo '70' > /proc/sys/vm/vfs_cache_pressure
echo '20' > /proc/sys/vm/dirty_ratio
echo '10' > /proc/sys/vm/dirty_background_ratio
echo '2000' > /proc/sys/vm/dirty_expire_centisecs
echo '3000' > /proc/sys/vm/dirty_writeback_centisecs
4.) Save the File
5.) Reboot
And with that you finally fixed the Battery drain
See the effect here:

Generally these stats are well, just see Phone Idle and Display are the first 2 ones, so yeah I can guess you don't use your phone that much right? Then of course your SOT is like just 3 hours because at the background it drains a bit too (a bit is well said)

I tried adding the values via Kernel Adiutor and the big cores shot up to 100%. I guess it doesn't work on the Z5 Compact.
EDIT: It seems I messed something up with the CPU Hotplugging that caused it to shoot up to 100%. Rebooted without CPU hotplug settings on boot and things are fine now. Will update tomorrow with results.

My personal recipe, just begun on a lot of testing custom roms that will only deliver at most like 4 hours on sot, and maybe less.
So, here's my test:
Stock MM rom - decrypted
Pico gapps
Normal apps like Facebook, ig, lnkdn, wsap, here maps and others.
I know, and i'm aware about the security issues, and i was thinking on a replacement phone, yhe hell that i'm going to let down my beloved MOTO N6; i whish that this phone would have a 4000mah battery.
Best phone ever.

I can't upload pics, but i will upload as soon as possible on a desktop, and coz i don't have a tapaccount, but just to make things clear i been testing and using a lot of custom roms, included these ones that claim bug-free oses.
Well, i would whish a clean MIUI launcher and i would be done with this.

I have been looking at the motorola e4 plus, the battery is 5000mah, would it have the same size to modify the N6?

I have a Moto E4 plus that has a broken screen. I'm going to yank the battery out of it and see if it fits in the Nexus 6.
Curious, if you're running stock MM, why flash Pico Gapps?

Yeah, flashed through NRT, and then flashed picogapps in recovery.
To clarify things:
the phone has stock android mm mob31t (flashed with NRT for unencrypted data partition)
Lastest recovery teamwin 3.0.3
Picogapps.
Some minor tweaks in settings, like enabled dev, for sppeding animations. Gps on device only.

I don't like the ui, so that's why I'm sticking to MM.
Did you make any changes, apart from the stock nougat?

Not that much, he's rooted and encryption disabled.
I turned off every feature I don't use. I activate a feature, only when I need it, just as long as I need it.
(BT always off, Wifi when needed, data always on, NFC always disabled, Ambiant display disabled, greenified everything, set a true black theme with black wallpaper, no gesture, LED activated)
You can earn maybe one or two SOT hours more, but you have to lower the resolution/density. (That increase perfomances too)
Edit: You can reach 10h SOT without lowering screen density... (while calling/texting/browsing/networking/youtubing)

Hhmm...I have already used pn 7.1.2 and never noticed the change in battery, now I am in paranoid lastest versión with franco Kernel, My battery arrives almost 4: 40min,I never understood why PN is the most recommended ..

Did not try Paranoid, but I read that it isn't stable at that time.
PN is stable, have nice features and is well updated. Good perfs and battery life.
In my case, I don't want to switch to another because PN works fine. And I learned to keep working things instead of switching and take the risk that it won't work anymore..

Good to know, how i can apply a dark teme? I'm on stock kernel, in some moment i did test the lowerin resolution too but i was unable to check any difference, i will check that again.
I did test the pure nexus too, and never reached the 5 hours on SOT, plus a little buggy for that time, (two months ago)

If I am right, layers on MM can be changed with RRO Layers, which is now deprecated.
You'll have to download the RRO LAyer manager and then somme layers of your choice.
If you wanna lower screen density, the better choice is 720p because of the homothetic proportions. (otherwise, some icons may be bugged)
I forgot, I try to avoid heavy apps. I did not install facebook and created a shortcut to fbchrome's page. Same thing with Tweeter.
GPS also disabled if not needed

Please let us know. I'm installing a droid turbo battery (3900mah) in my Nexus 6 soon. The zerolemon note 4 I had broke that phone isn't any where near as smooth as the Nexus but I still miss the insane battery life. I'm willing to buy an e4 plus if the battery connects. The Nexus 6 was my girlfriend's old phone she upgraded to the s8 plus.

I'll see if it fits this weekend. I'm currently using a Moto Z Play and the battery life is off the charts.
I have about 4-5 Nexus 6's that I can tinker with and about 2-3 Droid Turbo's that have good batteries also

It will fit with some modifications. Check this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/help/battery-mod-t3536162 . Ordered a new Nexus 6 mid housing on Amazon for 10$ just in case I mess mine up. I'll post some pics this weekend. My battery life now is terrible.. Figured if I need to replace the battery anyways might as well upgrade it.
So I did the Droid turbo battery swap. So far so good battery life seems way better than the stock dying battery. I did have to modify the frame some to make the battery and back cover fit.Wireless charging and everything works.
