Since this phone can go with any carrier, what carriers are you using? Based on current (not grandfathered) large data plans, here is what I can gather so far based on 4G LTE data.
Verizon 20GB $140
Verizon 12GB $100
ATT 15GB $115 (+40/5GB)
TMobile 21GB* $80
MetroPCS(T-Mob) 21GB* $60
Cricket(att) 10GB $55
Boost(Sprint) 10GB $55
Virgin(Sprint) 8GB $55
*based on Unlimited Throttle
Anyone seeing anything else?

Is anyone on MetroPCS? How are the speeds/coverage? Is throttling actually occurring at 21GB?
I've read people have gotten around the throttle by switching over to HSPD+ after the cap, and go back up to half speed, which will still stream, etc.
I just found this, that shows that off-brand versions are getting slower speeds than the carrier:
http://www.tomsguide.com/us/prepaid-carrier-performance,news-21331.html
MetroPCS is 26% slower on average than T-Mobile.
Cricket is 78% slower on average than ATT.
Cricket, Boost, and Virgin really shouldn't be on this list, as they do not even perform at 3g speeds even when connected to LTE.

Okay, locally there are a few prepaid plans that I'm considering to use an iphone 4 or 4s on. They are prepaid though never have used prepaid before.
From my research I know you can use the iphone 4 or 4s on straight talk from walmart
$40 for unlimited talk/text and data (most users report 2gb plus or minus cap and if you go over your service will be terminated.
local company selling Sky view wireless?? Never heard of them before but apparently you can go either cdma or gsm on this.
(Att)gsm version: $60 unlimited talk/text plus 2gb data thats it
CDMA: $50 unlimited everything, apparently no cap on data can use Iphone 4s from sprint on this.
Looking for feedback on people who have tried a prepaid service, tried skyview or straight talk. Currently using an iphone 4 unlocked on local gsm carrier recieving only 2g speeds May switch back to android and get a 4g phone. Note that I only pay $55 month for 500 min and unlimited text/data, no contract month to month! Typically a 5gb data cap then drop down to 2g speeds. Thanks for input
I switched over to the new 20gb mobile share plan from ATT...I had the 5gb plan and continuously went over the limit and had to pay close to $100 in overages consistently. Unfortunately, I travel for work, so I'm constantly in hotels, so there's no way I can have a cable company install internet in my room, and the wifi from the hotels is hopelessly slow. I looked into broadband or "mifi" but they all had some limitations, whether in speed or in data allowance.
Here was my idea: Switch to a 4gb mobile share plan (I have 2 lines) from ATT, then get another phone from either Sprint or T-Mobile since they offer unlimited data. Sprint only offers 2gb or 6gb hotspot plans, but I'll just root and get their unlmtd plan, and T-Mo is goin to offer unlmtd 4G starting Sep. 5, and while they won't allow hotspots, once again, I'll just root. Right now, I'm paying $260/month for two smartphones and 20gb shared between the two on ATT. If I switch to 4gb, I'd be paying $150, plus getting an unlimited plan from either Sprint or TMo, get a basic Android phone that offers a tethering option, and monthly pay no more than maybe $70-$100, which would put my bill max at $250, still $10 cheaper than what I'm paying now and I get the added benefit of unlimited data.
I would be using the T-Mobile or Sprint phone for strictly a hotspot, so I'd need minimal minutes and messages. Does this make sense? Is there something I'm missing that would make this impossible?

Not to insult you, but using a phone exclusively as a hotspot is kind of a douchebag move. I know you need it for business and I know you're trying to save money, but you're the reason unlimited data is going away and carriers started cracking down on tethering. So please, don't do that, and consider going for a business line on AT&T or something.
What he said ^^^. Cricket has 3G unlimited data and they have modems as well. That may be a thought.
Will I at least be able to get regular 3g speeds or do they throttle you even more?
Bad. Very, very, very, very bad.
I work for a retailer and I sell a hell of a lot of T-Mobile. You will be down to edge and from then on, it's pretty unusable. Their HSPA+ is brilliant in my area. It rivals the speeds of VZW's LTE here... But running on 2G is horrible. If you're on a classic plan and can afford to shell out another $10 a month, I'd just go for the truly unlimited data without any throttling. I mean, that's if you don't feel that 2 GIGs of HSPA+ is enough.
I'll be going with their $30/mo plan with 5gb of 4g data. You have to really try to go over 5gb of data lol

If you're spending $30/month it's unlimited now. There is no throttling on that plan. Th only 5GB plan they offer is $35 and that gives you the mobile hotspot feature. So, you should be good either way! I love the anti-throttle that they have going on. Definitely worth the extra $10 over the 2GB plan if you ask me.

Hate to burst your bubble but if you read the fine print on the $30 Monthly 4G it says first 5GB up to 4G speeds.
http://prepaid-phones.t-mobile.com/monthly-4g-plans
found out that they throttle you to 2g speeds.

Really? I'm going to check that when I get in to work today. I've read the fine prints on our new "TRULY UNLIMITED" brochures and the new contracts and I don't recall reading anything about that. I wouldn't put it past big magenta, though. Seriously.
I do know that the old contracts read something about "To provide a good experience to the majority of our customers (blah blah blah) up to 5GB." At our meeting a few months back about this, we were all told to make sure we're switching customers off of their grandfathered unlimited data plans that had the 5GB cap and move them to the newer ones.
Then again, I'm at a retailer that does VZW and AT&T as well, so I could be misinformed when it comes to that. I'm definitely going to have to look into it more.

Monthly4G plans are prepaid. Truly Unlimited Nationwide 4G is only offered on postpaid accounts. Assuming the OP is talking about a postpaid Truly Unlimited Nationwide 4G account, then there is no (advertised) throttle. As described here:
http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/Packages/ValuePackages.aspx
"There are no limits, no overages, no worries—you never have to keep track of how much data you use."
Monthly4G accounts will throttle to EDGE speeds after you use up your allotment of 4G (ex. "*First 5 GB at up to 4G speeds").
I wonder how T-Mobile's plans will shake up next year when they get rid of contract plans altogether and introduce LTE.
I went over my throttle limit once, when I move houses and didn't have broadband for a month. Throttle is slow.. Slower than edge. About the same speed as dialup.

I have a grandfathered unlimited data plan from Verizon. I have the 450 minute & 1K Message & $39.99 data plan for a total of $81.98. I've never once gone over my minutes in years so more than 450 isn't required.
The new unlimited everything plan is $85 and this includes Mobile Hot Spot (Needed now that FoxFi doesn't work on Nougat).
Has anyone made this switch? Is it as good of a deal as it seems? I wonder if this new plan is throttled or if it's the same as what I have now.
It's very much throttled unfortunately. In the fine print it says your internet speed will be de-prioritized after 22GB (meaning you'll be queued after other non-unlimited users), and the hotspot will only run on 3G which is basically worthless compared to 4G or WiFi.
If you are gonna switch, consider selling your plan on eBay, they're going for $1500-$1800 bucks. I'm never gonna get rid of mine.

Speeds should be the same, throttling may happen if you "use over 22GB and are in a heavily congested area."
Hotspot should also be the same but it also applies to throttling at 22GB if it is congested.
Id go to Verizon and ask them what costs would be and if you'd save money by switching to the new plan.
You get 10gb of hotspot at 4G speeds then downgraded to 3G speeds (some users reported not getting downgraded to 3G or seeing differences after 10gb). I made the switch and have yet to notice any differences. I normally end up around 20-30gb used a month.
Also you don't get throttled you get de-prioritized in congested area, meaning someone would connect to the tower before you if over 22gb. And who know what is consider a "congested" area.
verizon unlimited plan, do you guys think this will be around come october? that is when my contracts are up on my to UL old plans....

Bummed about FoxFi, and although it's not ideal tethering still works with grandfathered UDP. Check this out: https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-s7-edge/help/tethering-nougat-t3568501
I've been thinking about getting the AT&T unlimited plan, right now they are offering the unlimited plan with 10gb of mobile Hotspot per line. My question is, is anyone currently in the new unlimited plan (not the grandfathered plan) and have you went over your 22gb of unlimited data, if so was you throttled by AT&T any.
I have the AT&T new unlimited plan and so far I have never been throttle. I switch from the grandfather unlimited plan over to the new ulimited plan and glad I did.
I am as well. I easily use 100 GB per line - 3 lines. And have never been throttled.
Thanks guys, also if i read it right, it says something like 3mbps download speed? That don't sound right and i think i probably misread it, but do you have regular 4g download speed. I'll look it up again and ss where it said that.
Edit: the 3mbps download speed is on the unlimited choice plan, not the unlimited plus.
I went ahead and swapped to the unlimited plus plan. With the HBO $25 credit plus the $10 wireless and paperless billing i figured I'd save about 25 dollars a month since this plan is 10 dollars more a month than my old one.
