Screen off Memo port - Sprint Galaxy Note 4 General

For anyone that likes the new screen off memo feature on the GN5
xperiakle made this nice port
I installed this on my GN4 and works pretty good..

Thanks for the find. Works great

this is sweet!

You can achieve the same very similar results if you configure your phone to open an action memo instead of air commands on pen detachment. It's really easy: Go to Settings > S-pen > Detachment Options > Action memo. VOALA!

KnockOff with Nova - solved

Hello,
For those wanting to use Nova Launcher and still retain the double tap 'KnockOff' feature, I finally got it working via the procedure below. Note that this requires the paid version of Nova.. Hope this helps someone!
1. Download "Turn off the Screen" from the play store (it is free)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=turn.off.the.lights&hl=en
2. Open the installed app and click "Enable Now"
3. Open up Nova Settings -> Gestures and buttons -> Double tap -> Shortcuts -> Activities
4. Scroll to "Turn off the Screen" and expand the options. Choose "Turn Off The Screen : LockerActivity"
That's it. You should now be able to click anywhere on the nova desktop without an app / widget and it will turn off the screen as the stock LG KnockOff does. Note that I began with the "Screen Off and Lock" app, but this ignored the LG setting to not lock the screen for 10min and forces immediate PIIN entry upon unlock.
Cheers
If you knock on the status bar, the screen turns off with nova....no special software needed
Can the knock knock be turned off completely?

iirc it's in the display settings
This can also be done pretty easily with Nova and Tasker. Love this feature. I almost never have to use the hard buttons on this phone.
Excellent..

If I understand your needs, you are wanting to have a solution for returning to your home screen without the need of pushing the home button. Similar to the "accessibility" screen button on iPhone. There is nothing built into the current software for Note 3 (native, as you suggested) but there's no need to root and an app which will accomplish this function. Visit:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.matthewma.swipehomebuttonfree&hl=en
This I'm hoping will resolve things for you.
Hope this helps!

That, I'm unsure of. I've been playing with my settings today and trying to find custom ROMS and I too want to find a solution which will ease the wear & tear on my home button. Unfortunately, I do not think anything is available at this time. There's another app (Home Button Launcher) which I find a bit better and think I will use in the interim but it's a waiting game at this point:

Apex Launcher has the option to set any gesture to 'return to default screen'. Swipe-Down, for example.
I'm sure other launchers have a similar setting.
(Apex uses 69MB whereas Touchwiz uses 480MB... Just saying.)

think Nova Launcher has it too.. but was hoping to set a gesture to return to home screen from any app.
what you described seems like if you are on a second homescreen or something, doing the gesture will return you to the default screen
Swipepad has been my preferred navigation on all three of my Notes. I am also a huge fan of Apex launcher & only ever use those two in combination on note 3 for all my requirements.
One of those requirements is to never have to touch the home button.
My Swipepad has "Apex Launcher" as it's centre Pad so on any screen or app I can go straight to home screen one handed with one swipe.
Both these apps are free & are not memory hungry. Android is all about add on Apps & these two simple apps make the phone very one handed friendly.

* Obviously you can set one of the a swipe pads to "touch wiz home" if preferred by going through the "Activities" option when setting up that Pads action... If you've used swipepad I'm sure you knew that.

I don't have it enabled, let me check.
Yes, it would indeed seem so. Only works on another Homescreen.
What I've done instead is add a Home toggle to Sidebar Pro. (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mohammad.adib.sidebar) It allows you to add a toggle or app to a swipeable sidebar. You just swipe from any side (you can set the size and position), and it pops up a sidebar over anything, even games. I've attached a screenshot.
It's not exactly the same as a gesture, but it's a good alternative.

Samsung programmers must be idiots. This would have been a great feature.
i was searching the net for this too these days but found nothing about it.
would really like to see a mod allowing us to custumize it.
i dont use (s)crapbook and sfinder for example and i have uninstalled them, so clicking the icons in air command triggers nothing atm.

In my view, all the options on Air Command are useless with the exception of Action Memo.

There is currently no such application.
Maybe we should contact some people that can do this and ask them if they would do it.

yes, there is an esy way, but you must have root, there is an apk, pen window manager, and even another to launch air command without detaching the pen, it is pen window launcher, pen window manager is really helpful, since you can put any app you want in pen window

Moto X touchless control hidden menu on Moto G

looking at some old news about "AppOps" i thought about looking with nova louncher in the create shortcut menu/activities and scrolling down to letter S i found "setup" and there "Always On voice" wich open a beautiful menu and a "Yes, I'm in" option
I really have no conclusion about this, there are more option on the "Settings" and "Setup" menu in the launcher, anyone interested should have a look at it (or even other apps)
and YES,i know about the X8 processor but this app leftover could mean something
or maybe some user exploring this menu might found something useful
@edit
There is also on "System UI" a lot of option related to usb,but i get access denied on them

Tips to enable S-Pen features on CM/AOSP ROMs

Guys, I'm sharing few tips to enable S-Pen features on CM/AOSP based ROMs for Note series devices (works like a charm on Note 4 & Note 3).
The S-Pen feature is sorely missed by the users of Note Series and there are certain apps available on PlayStore which restore the maximum possible functionality on above mentioned ROMs. However, since these apps are not known by many, I've decided to make a thread which can benefit users who want CM/AOSP based ROMs without loosing the S-Pen functionality.
Hence, here are the steps:
1. I've tested this on recently released CM 14.1 ROM by @hsbadr for Galaxy Note 4 and it works flawlessly. Do checkout his ROM & appreciate his work by thanks and/or a donation.
2. Install following apps from the PlayStore:
a) CM S-Pen
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tushar.cmspen2&hl=en
b) Note Buddy
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tushar.spen_helper&hl=en
c) Screenshot Crop & Share
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flextrick.universalcropper
d) Sketchbook
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.adsk.sketchbook&hl=en
e) Scrrenshot Ultimate (Optional as Screenshot Crop & Share is good too)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.icecoldapps.screenshotultimate
3. It is recommended to install SuperSU as well because some apps may not work well with in-built root of the ROM. (I used Emotion AOSP in the past with in-built root and the apps did not work properly but with CM 14.1, apps work fine with in-built root. So, test your options. For some it may work & for some, it may not...)
4. Also, due to SELinux policies, a problem might occur that may hamper apps functionality. So, for that an app called SELinux Policy Changer (not available on PlayStore because of Google's policy, but available on XDA) can be used.
5. Open CM S-Pen AddOn app & tap on "Detection Disabled" to change into "Detection Enabled".
6. Open Note Buddy App & tap on "S Pen" tab. Enable this feature & then tap on "Auto Launch" menu.
Enable it. Tap the button below that says blank+ and choose Application Shade. Give it a name as per your liking. Close out the window & then Pull out the S Pen. Tap on the + symbol in the top right hand corner & tap on applications and add Sketchbook. Tap on shortcuts and add Take Screen shots for screen-write. Also, tap on shortcuts and add Take Screen shots for screen-write.
7. For S-Pen sounds, take a look at the below thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2474218
(Since I don't use sounds for S-Pen, I've no experience on how it sounds or work)
8. Open the Screenshot Crop & Share app & enable all the permissions that it needs. For simplicity, you can use "Floating Bubble" feature that places a bubble (similar to FB's Messenger Chat Head) which will let you to take a screen-shot with all the available features with just a click.
9. If you want a pointer for your S Pen then it can be enabled through phone's settings under Language & input. Scroll down to the end of the page & enable "Show icon when using Stylus" for a pointer.
10. Screenshot Ultimate is full of features but it might give some errors to some users or some users might find it bit finicky to use. So, I would suggest to use Screenshot Crop & Share.
For setting up Screenshot Ultimate, open the app. Let SuperSU give it root access. Next, the app will take a minute to set itself up. After it is done, click on Triggers and scroll down to custom shortcut and open custom shortcut settings. Select as follows:
When clicked----------> Take Screen-shot
After screen-shot---------> Edit
Notifications--------->Vibration, sound & toast
Timeout----------> 1 second
Go back to the app's home screen & scroll to settings and open open "General Settings." Change format and quality to your liking. Scroll to timeout and click Disable all timeouts. Close the app.
11. For performing the screen-shot writing:
Pull out the S Pen & once the window opens, click on Take a Screen-shot. After the Screen-shot, a screen titled EDIT options should pop up. Click on Draw. Draw something. Click on settings and save it. Click on view and open it in your gallery. From there you can share it on any app as per your choice.
That's all.
Start using S-Pen features on CM/AOSP based ROMs with ease.
In case of any issues, write in comments section & I'll try to help you out in minimising them.
If everything works, don't hesitate to hit the "Thanks" button.

Thank you very much for this explanation.
I haven't known that there is s-pen for cm/aosp roms until you tell me that.
Great to find a guide how to get it work.
If you could add screenshots to your thread to see s-pen and it's functions it will be great.

New to ROMs here and could use a little help.
Running a LOS 14.1 on my SM-P900.
Followed the steps but my sPen still not working. No detection when I pull out the sPen.
Thanks.
