best AOSP ROM for SM-N9005? - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i would like to know the best AOSP rom available for SM-N9005 I want to know for someone else i do not have a note 3 so i can not flash and check one myself i have been away from the note 3 scene for a while so i would also like to know that have bugs like speaker cracking, whatsapp audio bug have been squashed on these roms or not..thanks

No offence but all the AOSP ROMs have bugs beyond counting. Try Temasek, cause that's the one most people are using and the so called fixes supposed to come very fast from the developer, last time I heard.

Temasek or Tesla

[Q] CM 12 and S pen

I was hoping someone could help me out here, I'm a HTC guy and I recently decided to give the Note 3 a try because it seems more useful for my job. The thing is i never use phone with the stock OS (Sense or Touchwiz) since I am a die hard CM lover.
1. What i want answered is whether the s pen is still useful and as functional on CM 11/12 as it is on the touchwiz rom and if not, what functionality is retained since its the reason I got the Note.
2. What is the best rom CM/Touchwiz/AOSP available for this phone

The best rom is Best Rom. As you said some like this while others like that. No answer to that. People here ways you to try roms yourself and decide. Or better to look at roms thread and see what people say about bugs and functions etc. And what you need. If not sure you can try the most popular ones. I personally never try unpopular roms to avoid unexpected things.
Now I am sticking with cm12 too and it is very stable. I use Temasek unofficial version 9. You cab find it in development forums. Like you I don't like laggy touchwize even if it is useful due to some apps that only work with touchwize. But hey, if you never like touchwize you will not miss that crap. The speed with nova launcher on cm12 is better than my new Note 4 with lollipop, and even almost and scores on antutu. Real life performance is better on my Note 3
I bought note series because of the school and note making with spen. That's why apps like snote are useful.
Spen works as it should but apps are gone as they relay on touchwize framework which is not present in cm12 which is the whole point of cm. There is an spen app in PS that do some things and another one in beta testing here in xda. But i use Microsoft note and if works just like snote but with some less features. Search forums for root and updates if you decide to do it. Or ask here.
Have a nice day

I have tried few most popular roms for note 3 (even tho its TMO i was using supported ones) and i can tell you that stock lolipop gave me best experience and here is why.
My first rom ever to be flashed was darklord note 5 port by darkera13 and even though it gave me stunning battery idle time it also gave me some bad experiences using camera software which was either poor quality or simply not working when it was needed.
Next I tried s6 port by same developer assuming 5.0.2 base would be much more compatible with our official one but there were some massive memory redraws and weird display brightness bug(screen becomes dim on wakeup).
Since roms above were used as base to other port style roms I dont expect any better from them.(not saying they are bad, contrary, but when stability and reliability is in question ill prefer stock sluggy rom.
I must say that I have never used CM on note 3 so I must leave that to someone else but by the time I am writing this i am using stock and only 5.0 rom provided by TMO on top of lean kernel.(also its massively debloated ).
Cheers,hope it helps!!
AryaMod: Fully featured. Stable. Fluid too (as fluid as stock), and believe some features are really handy, like the alarm notification on lock screen which Samsung omitted from Lollipop. Just use it without Xposed, and you are good to go.

Try tazzy-aurora note 5 port with darklord kernel 1.5 & LS speed mod. Everything works fine and it's really fast with good battery life.
I flashed the s6 settings + stock ui mod (extra mods) and i'm really happy with. Also no camera flickering with darklord kernel
See my sig. Temasek ftw ^^

AryaMod IMO is by far the best Lollipop TW based experience available. I tried literally every single rom from here for 5.0 and nothing compares to Arya when it comes to stability, usage, battery... I highly recommend it!
Always back to cyanogemod CM12.1 = quick, slim, reliable. Only negative is of course the lack of s pen, but you got some third party apps for that.
Used to be great fan of miui, however they are now getting less popular by making their new MIUI 7 lollipop based, which is a sad thing.

No Spen for 5.1.1 [HLTE/TMO/SPR/VZW][ROM][CM12.1][5.1.1_r26] Temasek's UNOFFICIAL

Hi everybody
After flashing rom 5.1.1 from [HLTE/TMO/SPR/VZW][ROM][CM12.1][5.1.1_r26] Temasek's UNOFFICIAL Build v18.4, i can't find anything relates s pen, s note, air command. It means that i can use s pen function. Can anyone tell me : does 5.1.1 support s pen?
Thanks so much.
Regards.
All im gonna say is wow !!!
sorry, i don't understand what your mean ?
no you can't use spen with cm roms, you may need to download third party apps or any mods, like trying to install moded spen air command.
He thought maybe Samsung made cm.

Support? Yes and No. Cyanogen Mod supports S Pen with some apps, honestly I have no interest about CM and stuffs, but you can ask on that particular ROM's thread which apps you might use as replacement to S Note and all that. And by no I mean the integration is nowhere near as flawless as it is on TouchWiz based ROMs, but then again that's quite normal.

Let me explain.
The official firmware made by Samsung is called TouchWiz, and there are ROMs based on it, and all of the functionality of the device is kept by flashing such a ROM.
Downsides: as much as the developers here making TouchWiz ROMs are trying, TouchWiz' innate lag is close to impossible to deal with, and people who cannot simply stomach that, flash AOSP ROMs.
AOSP stands for Android Open Source Project: code provided by Google themselves, which allows developers to create a ROM based off pure Android.
Which means that when you flash an AOSP ROM (Cyanogenmod, Tema's version of CM, Resurrection Remix, Slim, etc.), you are flashing a ROM that basically turns your device into a Nexus.
Nexus phones don't have S-Pen.
Pure Android doesn't support it.
Anything you found on TouchWiz as functionality CAN be achieved to some extent on an AOSP ROM by flashing various mods and installing apps and frameworks and whatnot, but it will not work as well as on TouchWiz.
So my suggestion is that if you use S-Pen regularly, you will want it with it's full functionality, and for that you find a TouchWiz based ROM, we have a couple of good ones. AryaMod, Audax, various ports of the Note 4 and Note 5...
If you go AOSP on the other hand, your phone will be A LOT faster and more responsive, but you will find a hard time restoring some S-Pen functionality with it.
Yeah, well let me state some FACTS here as well, in case some amateur completely misses the main flaw in the above post.
Yes, TouchWiz lags, that's beyond any question, but who said flashing a Cyanogen ROM turns your device to a Nexus phone? That's beyond ridiculous! AOSP is great, fast, stable, as good as Android could and should be. But Cyanogen isn't that! It's based on AOSP, but with plenty of bugs, and not tiny bugs either. I don't have any time or interest about pointing them out, but just Googling will reveal them.
A Nexus is a Nexus, which runs on naked Android without any sort of customisation whatsoever, which is called AOSP. A Cyanogen port can never have same stability or bug free nature like a AOSP ROM, N E V E R. Now I honestly don't care if some troll or fanboy comes and say there are no bugs, well that's as usual hilarious. You have to have use a stable and bug free thing first to notice or comment on which are bug free, which are not, LOL!
This is the actual sum up:
TouchWiz: Stable, slow, laggy sometimes (when people say the lag is impossible to bear, well that's when you should find your dictionary and look up for the word 'exaggerate'), but with every feature possible, needless to say S Pen integration is excellent.
Cyanogen mod/ or any AOSP port: Turn your Note 3 to something other than Note 3. ROM will be faster than TouchWiz, but again, it's not that fast that it would make a world's difference, and you lose all the Samsung features, and some of them are quite important ones, and there are bugs, some of them are quite important as well, like poor call quality or degraded photo/ video quality! But then again there will always be people who don't call form their "mobile phone" or snap any photos, and then there is the S Pen. But look at the bright side, you can now scratch your ear with it.
At the same time, I would prefer if Samsung moves to clean Android like Motorola or Sony, keeping some of their useful apps like S Note, Messaging an Dialler app etc., cause there is no real point of having a totally heavy kinda skin on top of Android when the main Android is pretty good itself. They can add a bunch of apps, they don't necessarily need to add a whole framework for that.
Thanks everybody so much i choosed tazzy-audora rom. This is great rom

Which Rom is good for s4 I9505 and without problems!?

Plz guys help to find good Rom for my S4 and without problems
Every rom is great, just try them and read a little in the threads to find the one that fits you
I prefer that you should stick to stock-based Roms because they are more stable than AOSP, MIUI, etc. Every Rom has their sets of issues just as us humans, we are not perfect. We have to overlook acceptable problems such as occasional and minimal lags or delays, but not the significant problems such as wifi connectivity, bluetooth problems, cellular data/signal problem, FCs, quick battery drain, extreme overheating, and etc.
So there is this stock-based rom that I use, called Imperium Rom v.12 by Slim80 http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/i9505-develop/rom-imperium-ll-v1-0-t3046889 It is the most stable Rom I have ever used as of now and I like to make my S4 committed to it, not commiting adultery with other roms anymore. Don't limit yourself by flashing an AOSP-based rom. The reason is the bugs that come with these AOSP roms and limited features compared to what I have been using now. Perhaps S4 is really meant to stick with its roots, not in the roots of others. So I suggest that you stick with a Touchwiz-based rom because of the premium features that AOSP doesn't have such as the amazing camera features, multi-window, great keyboard, and many more. Let the S4 grow in its roots.
I hope I could have helped you decide.
Note: This will be time-consuming, all of the flashing, organizing, and many other things. This can make us forget and ignore the existing human relationship we have now with families, friend, and the people around us and most importantly , the relationship we have with our Creator. Time is short. So I hope this android development thing will not interfere with the real priorities we have now for it had scrambled mine. So best wishes in Jesus' name.
Dirty Unicorn 9.8 or CM 12.1 SnapShot
For me i prefer Imperium Rom V12... Im also using albe95 note5 rom but still nothing compares with the original modified stockrom.. no lags, no bugs, smooth.. and the coolness whenever i play games.. especially when i play nba2k16, the temperature of my fone never changes..
PhoeniX Rom v11.6
I use PheoniX Rom (v11.6). And I think this is the best rom you can found at this moment for the galaxy s4. I am a flashaholic, so I tried every (TouchWiz) rom I could found here. But always come back to PhoeniX Rom. It is full of features, so that xposed is no more necessary (for me). The Battery life is also very good for our old device and everything is running smooth and fast. I use imperium Kernel and never had any issue with this awesome rom.

Touchwiz Based Roms :
[ROM] Albe95 S6 FULL PORT 4.7 [S6/Edge FEATURE PORT]
CM Based ROMS: Dirty Unicorn 9.8 or CM 12.1 SnapShot
But this isn'^t the correct section.
Request Move please.
Albe95 Note 5 port and Imperium 12 are best that i have come upon.

Thx
For me i prefer Echoe ROM v5.0 wiht kernel echoe v5.7 ..stable for me
Indeed Imperium is one of the best tw ll based custom roms. But the only thing I don't understand is why Samsung themed lollipop so bright, although we all know that amoled screens have a better battery life with dark pixels. This question really bugs me.

Can Imperium (and Albe for that matter) be made to be dark all the way, ie how 4.4 was?

It's simple: they don't care
Sammy lollipop firmware is way below kk in terms of battery life. Also has more bugs, lag, etc
Edit: I think this thread should be moved into right section...
I found stock to be great but front camera works horrible on all of them. Aosp and cm roms give you better quality images and most likely better battery life too
its either Stock 5.0.1 (which is what i am on) or Imperium rom

You must be high or something.. everyone knows that AOSP based roms have terrible camera apps and horrible image quality.. Samsung camera app is way better.. and this is the only reason I can't stick to AOSP.. besides it gets boring after a while!

Cyanogenmod issues for our Nexus 6

ive used nexus 4 and 5 and 6 running CM all the time , i cant use ANY android phone without using CM as daily driver , i used to flash the nightly builds because they are were very stable and i didn't face any problem at all
ive used A lot of ROMs based on CM and i cant find a Very stable one , the stable CM is the clean official cm rom , i dont care about the extra features that cm based roms provide because i like to stay clean and stock , i dont even use any custom kernel , i use Pure CM builds
but these days ive noticed something weird , something that made me Rethink about using CM rom , yes i was a blind all the time !
Cyanogenmod has gone bad ... very bad actually in latest days whatever you use a Nightly or snapshot builds
havent you noticed that your device become Laggy and buggy the most of the time ? Long booting time ? heat ? battery drain ? maybe something else i didn't notice ?
yes im talking about our beautiful nexus 6 , it supposed to be an High end phone but unfortunately we cant feel this by using CM roms anymore and I DONT KNOW WHY !
if u dont belive me just try an AOSP build right now ... yes its much much faster and stable than CM by miles !
now i can say that i have a high end device but like i said that i,ve been blind
i just made this topic to make people who use CM roms or CM based roms rethink about using it
AOSP is much better than CM atm and you can try and judge
sorry for my bad english and i hope that i helped :good:
snapshot is very stable build for my n6 using cm kernel or hellsCore kernel i didnt have lag or battery issues but nightly is different its not stable and yes there are some lag , i love cm

I am sorry to hear you are having problems with CM13 on your Nexus 6. I find CM13 runs great on my Nexus 6. I have not experienced any of the issues you have identified. I am running the nightlies and its been great for me.
thanks for your issue
Never had issues with cm on n6. But again I do clean installs on major updates.

Problem with your hyperlink
Dont feel bad. There have been bugs in CM that have not been fixed in years and it also part of the reason the last OEM cut ties with them.It is also the reason many have stopped using them for source changes.
I would give a few roms a shot that are based on AOSP and not CM.
I use both (generally between Pure Nexus and Temasek's CM builds) and I'd put their performance as equal. Theming is the biggest difference. At this point CMTE can't compare to layers when it comes to theming completely and with versatility. Arcus looks promising for improving CMTE but there's not many yet who've made good use of it.

I agree with you.
Biggest thing with the whole cmte fanboy, layers fanboy crap and the biggest thing people seem to NEVER talk about is longevity.
Layers being native, should always work. You can't count on the cygyn team to ALWAYS be able to find a way to make the theme engine work.
