no i cant belive but maybe they didnt bought the phone lolll its like the regular edge so many stick with the "old " edge
even for the note thers only one developer its crazy

yes I also very surprised.

Brand new product segment riding on the tailcoats of the "Note Nation" release. Imo, devs are working the Note 5 which we can port from; one of the first ones went live today (downloading now). Hopefully the Note 5 takes some ports from the s6 flat; which can consequently be ported to us...guess we'll see if that sunny outlook works out hehe.

I almost started working on one. But didn't have time. If all goes will I might start working on this or next weekend.

Note 5 development is also growing very slow right now (I think due to the fact that Europe is still waiting for it). But actually shouldn't be a problem to port or make a debloated rom.
Actually you should ask yourself what do you want from a custom rom?
Less bloatware? You can uninstall all useless apps with just root.
Deodex for mods and staff? Already here.
Better multitasking? Few changes in phone and voila.
Custom kernels? Yeah that's actually what might be useful to get some performance and better multitasking abilities but there is nice kernel in progress right now. In the end stock kernel sometimes might be the best for some (in term of reliability).

It depends mate. There are lots of optimization a ROM dev can bring into the ROM, yes it can be done manually but maybe not everyone have the time or understanding to get that working. For a average user decompling a APK or JAR file to make modifications is not easy. Well I think it's purely personal opinion. Note5 ROM is already ported to Edge+ Tmobile version. So I am guessing it might come to International soon. It pain is there so many different firmware and models makes it harder for a dev to provide support for all the models.

so after one year we still have a poor rom developing

Sailfish on N900

I would love to have it ported on N900. I might even try port it to N900 as soon as I can get hold of some sort of image... Anybody else still interested in giving their N900 new life?
U are joking? Sailfish will never work on n900,so do not even dream about it.

Why not. It can be ported there, since Mer and Nemo already were. But it doesn't mean that it'll work there smoothly, since N900 has quite a limited RAM. See https://identi.ca/conversation/97151426#notice-98031241

Yes it is possible. Mer is already running on it so you just need the Sailfish UI. But it won't run smooth. It will be nearly unusable. So why should you really invest time to port it?
It would've been cool if it would run. I;ve tried running android on my n900 back in the day, but that was never smooth. I don't except jolla will either

The N900 was a device i will never ever forget. My first step into Linux systems. for the record, I was able to install and fully use Nitdroid except for receiving and making calls. Back then also, developers on various android forums were promising a complete version. it even built an auto installer for android GB installation. unfortunately due to nokia/android restrictions, it did not reach final stages..
I did not check how jolla looks,.but i am sure it can be done. not a perfect working UI but perhaps like nitdroid.

dont listen them, you doing right thing :good:
Even if you could get the drivers working (quite doubtful) and put one of the newer Android Kernels on it, performance would be disastrous. The Jolla (on hardware ~4x as powerful) is anything but a fast, smooth phone with Sailfish on board. The N900 would barely function, IMO.
Total waste of time.
Sorry for my ignorance,
So apps for Mer and sailfish are almost compatible?
Are they using QT libraries?

Nokia
Hi Falks,
I was owning a n900, and now ordered a new one. I have looked back in Maemo , nothing really changed til left, just got some pain recently with closed doors on huawei and apple. And really want a physical keyboard and total freedom , and out of the box coming with terminal....
Do we have any alternative these days the last Linux phone which had keyboard was n900 (n950 prototypes also but discontinued). I can't beleive there were no devices made for geeks. And yeas more I use touch screen in last days more I miss the keyboard. So any devices newer ARM anfra more ram and physical keyboard??? Do we have like this, and device should come with only flasher bios/bootloader included , not with any chain, I am wondering if maemo as OS would continue that would be nice, but there are rly small people working things there, more or less DYI everything. I assume development for mobile devices are now much more easier SDK + IDE is basic. With proper OS libraries almost everything easy to port, except gui, but there we need strong libraries and guidences how to use them, or ultimately has a fallback library to the original source system UI with virtualization... There wasn't really easy to dev for eg maemo as ansi C was the main, then ok Pyton, and maybe they got a good C++ compiler, but all of above relies on SDK and OS libreries/refrences....
So any n900 like mobile these days, and I am asking for real items not for failed kickstarter stuff

Up-to-date ROM list

Hi,
In case it helps, I have an up-to-date Galaxy Note 2 ROM list kept here, which includes the GT-N7100, N7105 models.
Someone was asking for a list in the AT&T section, so I thought I'd post this info in each section to tell people.
It's kind of a hobby, but it's kept up-to-date pretty much every day.
Some of you might find it useful.
That's some serious consolidation done there m8! Great job, surely helps!
Thanks.
Just a quick bump in case it can help anyone out who doesn't know about it.
Super awesome. If you could just sort it base wise like touchwiz and aosp.
this is XXXDDDAAA
Hi,
It came to my attention that I'd forgotten to add a few roms from the `Original Android Development' sections for the different carriers.
Sorry about that. Those roms have now been added.
Just a quick bump. The Galaxy Note 2 ROMs list is still regularly updated.
I hope it continues to help people out. As usual most of the ROMs are here at XDA.
Thanks.
Note 2 ROMs
cool thanks
I'm still using my Note 2 (believe it or not). The Galaxy Note 2 ROMs list is still going strong, too - although it has gotten easier with less ROM development.
(This is kind of a thread bump. I'm looking to switch to a Galaxy S8 Edge in the near future, if they are any good.)

Sorry for the boring reply, but I would recommend whichever one you try and like.
MIUI is nice for a change sometimes. Here in Japan, we were limited as to which ROMs we could flash, so I eventually went back to the latest ROMs from the carrier (DoCoMo).
The Galaxy Note 2 is still a nice phone. I'm looking forward to changing devices in the coming months, after having stayed with the Note 2 since it came out.
I pay quite a bit each month here for my phone, so it makes sense to benefit from a newer device if I'm still paying quite a bit each month.
The Note 2 still does everything I need it to do. But after trying other devices in the stores, I realize that they are quicker, lighter, and it's important to freshen up life with new experiences. (I'm kind of old fashioned, so I have to remind myself to change every few years.)
(It can also be tricky getting a 24 month contract when you live abroad and rely on renewing your visa annually.)
.. Go with whichever ROM you like, and read the threads and see how much enthusiasm there is for each one.

Do you know the main ROM thread for that? (It doesn't have to be XDA.)
For example: This thread links to these files.
That ROM you posted the link to is dated as more recent, so it would be nice to know the thread it belongs to.
Thanks.
I dont think theres even a thread but therom works fine. I flashed it some days back @Grant Barker
Only the buttons backlight doesn't work. Other than that everything works fine.

SailFish for Z1c

Hi guys, I just saw SailFish has made it easier to port the OS to Android devices. Description http://www.jollausers.com/2014/07/sailfish-os-hardware-adaptation-dev-kit-release-1-0/
Anybody up to the challenge [emoji15]
Finally, been waiting for this. Hope the Z1C is compatible enough for daily usage.

this would be great, having the of android and silfish os for xperia z1c.
Ah man!
Wish I had some space to spare on my laptop to do this
only 3-4 GB left :crying:
maybe the interest in sail fish os will increase when a stable version of sailfish launcher is out and people can test a little bit the "feel" of sailfish.
As the purpose of this thread in rather a discussion and not development I have moved it into General Section

That's sad, I don't have the knowledge to try it. Would be a dream to have the possibility to run sailfish on a z1c (and other devices).
What I saw and read about sailfish os seems to be very promising.
Damn would be so awesome to run sailfish on a z1c!!!
The best part of Sailfish on Z1c would be, doing away with onscreen navigation. I feel so @#$% not to have entire 4.3 inch screen at my disposal.
For Android there is a launcher, which is gesture based and does not need on-screen buttons. I am not sure about its name, but you will find it here on xda. I think it's called LMT...

Any News?
Hej Folks,
I was wondering wether there are any news considering the porting of Sailfish OS to our beloved Z1 Compact. Is there any possibility to do so at all? Or is it just because of the work going along with porting it? I'm a total noob and no idea how to port, but just asking.....
I'm also interesting in having SailfishOS on my Z1 compact. I can help test, if anyone is prepared to port it.
Cheers
Waiting for it, Omar said that maybe he could try to port, but... It seems that there is no interest
Enviado desde mi Z1 Compact
Omar is busy updating all his ROMs to Lollipop and making them run without bugs. I don't think he has time for this now
Hey,
are there any news on Sailfish OS für Z1c yet? I've read something about a new bootloader thing for xperia devices making it easier to install custom ROMs on those devices. I'd love to have a Sailfish OS-based phone, but am not willing to spend money for outdated specs at Jolla Phone and while my Z1c is still very much capable of most tasks.
Can't post links yet, but the news about the new bootloader stuff is i.e. on xperiablog . net

Why Have Custom Roms Taken so Long to Reach the Tab E?

Okay so I just got my hands on the Tab E today. My Note Pro 12.2 has been giving me a lot of problems so I figured I'd get something else for more frequent use. And the Tab E was the best one I found.
But I was wondering, why has CM13 just now come to the Tab E? It's been out for over a year hasn't it? Does it usually take so long to get out the first custom rom for a tablet?
If so are more going to start showing up now? At least updates to the CM13 as the developer works on it?

1. A custom ROM can only be made if a potential developer has the target device.
2. I acquired said device just this weekend. I only made a ROM for this device because I had it, I couldn't have done it otherwise.
3. To make ROMs for other devices, I would need to have said devices, or they'd have to be very similar to the one I have in order for me to be certain of any potential custom ROMs working.
4. If you have device requests, send them. If they meet condition (3) above and I have the time, I might be able to make a cm ROM for them.
Oh I wasn't complaining about anything, I can't thank you enough for creating a custom rom for the Tab E. :3 And it works really well. :3 I can't wait to see how you build it up over time. And I also hope one day you do Lineage 14.

Pretty much what the title says, nobody uses the Tab E it seems. and when nobody uses it how is there supposed to be kernels and roms developed for it? Though I'm itching to see a good kernel pop up so I can overclock

The reason my Noire kernel does not offer overclock is because it is placebo. I have tested all known overclock code for this processor, and the highest known claims to go to 1.8ghz, yet when the system is claiming to run at 1.8ghz, the benchmarks are the same as stock.
There is no real overclock for this device.

Samsungs OS is heavy and a bit of a mess, porting it would be hit and miss even with talent and a lot of time.
I think I can save you the bother though.
It's not a very good OS.
Plus if you've give OnePlus a few years they'll probably have copied it completely.
Nah I'm joking, but it is a crap OS, buy a Samsung if you want a Samsung. It's the best way and probably the only way.
Samsung = bull**** overload. They are the leaders of bloatware.
I still using it Samsung Note 10+ 5g if Oxygen OS can be ported to the phone. More. The Note 10 section is allmost only for exynox models and 1,2 topics about the better european model, with Snapdragon..
Oos ob2 rom.zip = 2.8gb
OneUI 2.5 rom.zip - 5.8 gb (talking about Bloatware...)
must be the dumbest question I've heard it a while? u want a bloated software sell op and get ur urself this samsung phone
It's easy to make rum free of bloatware apps. I have experience in this regard, but I have no knowledge of ROM port.
Everyone shamed this topic but I'll also be happy if someone manage to port it. I'm not dev but I try to help.
