Hi,
I have a Note 4 (N910F) with the original kitkat rom that has been rooted.
I have downloaded few third party firmwares with Android 5.1 and I tried to install them (I'm using TWRP).
The installation is successful, but when I reboot the Note 4 I get the "Galaxy Note 4" logo, the device vibrated twice and it's rebooting again doing it over and over again, and this happens with few different firmware's.
I tried reflashing, tried to clear all caches - it's still doesn't affect the problem.
The ironic thing is that if I restore a backup of my original firmware (the one I made a backup with TWRP) the device works perfectly.
Am I missing something in the installation procedure??
Thanks

INFO: I rooted my device last night and installed TWRP using GooManger. I tried tested two different Roms. The first one was Google Edition 4.2.2 - v1.3 & the second was GoldenEye. Both Roms Seem to function properly. My Device is SGH-1337M ROGERS
PROBLEM: When i reset my device, even after a clean install, my device gets stuck during boot. I've tried going into recovery and restoring backups from this point and they all fail. The only possible way to get out of this boot freeze is to Wipe entire internal storage. At that point, the phone will reboot. This does not appear to be a boot loop as It just shows "Samsung Galaxy S4" and won't budge (seems frozen). I have no idea what the issue is but i suspect it may have something to do with the kernels provided with the Roms? Any help would be much appreciated!

Which ROMs are you installing? On I337M your best bet is T-Mobile ROMs and Kernels. I have Bell I337M and have no issues.

Are you wiping with TWRP? I heard there are issues with using it to wipe and restore or loading a new rom after wipe. Just restore using Odin and then load a new rom (or restore a backup) without wiping. See if that solves your problem of bootlooping

i just went through this all last night what a pita , problem is twrp , if you do a full wipe when you type the word yes , you can only bootup 1 time then it gets stuck next time you boot , theres no way to fix it , even going back to old version of twrp wont do it , you have to compleatlly remove root and return to stock , re root and install twrp again , then if your luck your nandropid backup will work , it took me 5 hrs to fuger this all out , stupid twrp drove me nuts .,...
in short , return to stock and reroot , then never do a full wipe where you have to type yes

Hi everyone,
I'm a noob here but I read the guidelines
You're the only who can save me tonight (it's 3 a.m. here and sry for my bad english).
I rooted my Galaxy S4 (international version - Snap 600 - i9505) and I flashed the latest nightly of cyanogenmod. I started my device and, after 4-5 minutes, the rom started. I felt immediately disappointed, it's a pre-alfa version and I installed it just to try it.
So, I decided to install the Pure Google Rom with Android 4.3 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2341026).
I rebooted my device, but for some reasons (I got a small crash, because I failed, removing my battery during the boot animation), my phone is now stucked at the title screen.
I can see just "Samsung Galaxy S4 - GT_i9505" on an infinite black screen. I'm so sad, I wish to solve this problem...
P.S. I tried to reboot in recovery mode: almost the 70% of the times I tried, it failed entering recovery mode. The only time it entered recovery, I wiped everything, but nothing seems to change.
Please help :\

Usually the international version is i9500 running on Exynos Octa core. Are you sure you loaded the right firmware?
If you have flashed the custom recovery (CWM, Philz, TWRP), you can try to load different firmware (copy to SD card first). Worst case, you can use Odin to flash. Unless it is hardware problem, it is not easy to brick the phone.
Thx

Thank you, I flashed the philz touch version for i9505 and it works flawlessly. I installed the Google Stock Rom and it's working. I'll update tomorrow if I got crashes or black screens.
Thank you so much tingtan

However after the installation, it asks me that i need to restarted the phone, once i restarted, My phone was Stuck on "Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005" LOGO!! I have waited for hours and still would be stuck on the same logo! I have tried reinstalling the rom about 3 times and I still had the same issue.

Make sure you are using the correct version of X-Note. If its the kitkat version then you have to already be on kitkat. Also, you could try Temasek's CM11 port. That worked for me . Make sure you backup your EFS partition (basically backup ALL partitions in TWRP/CWM or use EFS Pro). Don't want you making the same mistake that I made.
I have fixed the problem by going into the cmw and did the following:
Delete system files
Delete Cache
Delete Partition
Format Sd card
Format all user data
After i did the following, X note did work. I think i did the same process i could be able to install the the stock ROM.
Thank you anyway.

Format partition
Hi
Go to recovery , hold power, home and volume up while booting to enter recovery , if you have have CWM recovery , select mount and storage. you need to format your SD card, format system, clear cache data ansd clear partition, basicallt format whatever you see that says formart. then try reinstalling x note.
NOTE : THIS WILL WIPE YOUR ENTIRE SD CARD DATA !!!!

v15
Well I dont know the latest version but v15 should do. Visit XDA xnote page for the latest info regarding xnote firmware.
Thank you
. I solved the problem and installed the latest version 18
First of all thank you very much for your help. I solved the problem and installed the latest version 18. Beginning it stuck in my after installation as before ... but what I did was to install another kernel that is what solved my problem and I am currently using fun at x-note v 18. Thanks for the help ... If someone encountered a similar problem feel free to install kernel that suits his area.
Hi everyone, just tried to root my i9507 S4 for the first time. Went really awful. I used the Chainfire Auto Root from his website for Android Lollipop (this one to be precise) and attempted to get it up and running through the included Samsung Odin. It booted in successfully and I could reach the home screen. I had SuperSU and could open it - but I think something stopped working along the way and everything crashed at once after just a few moments (whether I opened SuperSU or not). Google Play didn't open. I attempted to do a full-install from SuperSU, which got rid of SuperSU but the problems remained, awesome. Rebooting now changed nothing. So I went to Sammobile and downloaded the correct firmware (this one), and I attempted to restore with Odin using the same method as I did rooting. Everything seemed to be going to plan with Android "updating" and the like, and SuperSU is still gone, but the same problem remains. As expected all of my data remained. I'm tempted to do a full-reset at this point but I'd like you guys' opinion first. I'm new to all this - as you have probably guessed! - so please be nice-ish (I deserve some of the flack I'm sure). Thanks guys
Just attempted clearing cache thru recovery (stock) - no changes.
Full wipe then install firmware with Odin.
Through recovery I presume?
Do this: open Odin, uncheck everything except f reset time. Flash ROM. When you see the word reset in the Odin status window, remove USB cable from the phone, remove battery, replace battery, boot into stock recovery, perform a data/factory reset, reboot.
This method will wipe all of your data.

Would this not brick the device? Thanks though.
You only see the word reset if the firmware was flashed. I do this for the note 1, note 2, note 3, s2, s3, and s4.
Hi there guys.
I have a very strange problem. Galaxy A5 SM-A500M. By placing ROM 5.0.2 (A500MUBU1BPB2) through ODIN, the device works normally. ROMs 6.0.1 install, but the device does not go for the first boot, it hangs in the initial screen written "Samsung GALAXY A5". All tested ROMs were installed using Odin3 v3.11.1 and Odin3 v3.12.3, all downloaded from SamMobile site at:
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-a5/SM-A500M/ZTO/
I tried to install several times. I tested the 4 Android 6.0.1 ROMs available, with the same error occurring in all of them, hanging on the home screen before the first boot.
I did all the wipes before and after all the installations, in all possible combinations... (only before, only after, before and after, etc.) I exhausted all the alternatives...
When I install ROM 5.0.2 with ODIN, the installation simply flows normally and the phone works normally.
I'm almost throwing away the device because I do not intend to continue using Android 5 when we are already going to version 7.
Has anyone had a similar problem and can point me out to some path that can solve this?
Thanks in advance for any light to this strange behavior!!!
if you flash a 5.0.1 firmware and just boot into that, then select update from the phone settings. will it start to download anything?

Done that... same error... it downloads, installs, but the device does not go for the first boot, it hangs in the initial screen written "Samsung GALAXY A5". It's as if I have done with ODIN... exactly the same strange error... but oddly enough 5.0.1 firmware is working like a charm... I really don't know what I'm missing here...
