Or do I need to install TWRP onto it?
Is the installation of TWRP pretty stnadard, or it's more complicated than that?
No, there is no custom recovery in stock kit kat, first u'll have to root the phone and then install an app from play store to flash twrp.
its a simple. process..
With twrp otg support pipework?

Is it TWRP Manager from JMZ Software that I need?
Is there a thread about it for E7? I don't see anything like that.
I need the thing to flash a zip with Xperia keyboard.

I just came from a custom ROM back to stock rom and wanted to root again. I flashed CWM recovery with ODIN en then flashed CWM-SuperSU-v.0.99.zip
When I opened the SuperSU app and clicked on update, it said installation failed. I went to the play store to update. Now it says I'm not even rooted . What am I doing wrong here?

No, you were just installing supersu app (you don't need cwm recovery to do that), but not making root. Supersu is just a tool for root management. Flash cfautoroot with odin and then go to gplay and download supersu.

I flashed SuperSU (so including the binary, not just the app) in CWM recovery. How is that not making root? It should work that way, just apparently not for me.
so I already have CWM recovery, and the CF-auto-root brings the stock recovery. My question was whether I can just flash over it or not
edit: I just flashed over it, and works now

Supersu is just an app to manage root accesses, and binaries can be installed directly oppening supersu after install it from google play or from a zip using cwm (what you did), but first you need to make root. I am 99% sure that cfautoroot backups the actual recovery to restore again after root; if dont you can flash again the cwm after cfauto and you shouldn't lose root.

Hi
I have a non rooted Note 4 N901F, L.5.1.1.
I didn't plan to root it for now, that is, unless I have to.
What I mean is I would like to have a recovery, like TWRP, so I can do full backups, wipe caches, and so.
How do I install a recovery? Do I need to root first?
Yes you need to root if you want twrp, there are other ways to backup your phone mate

Actually, you can flash the recovery before rooting. The method I use to root my C variant, is that I flash the TWRP through odin, then flash a custom kernel to root. So, you can say I flash TWRP recovery before rooting...
Hello,
I have Rooted OnePlus 2 and TWRP installed on Official OxygenOS 3.0.1,

Well, I need root, I cannot live without backups and android without root and backups are incompatible really... thats what I dont like from android, so, my questions are.
The main question is, can I flash twrp without unlock bootloader to backup data? cause here first will flash, then unlock...
http://www.droidviews.com/unlock-bootloader-install-twrp-and-root-zte-axon-7-a2017g/
so I can flash twrp, backup, then downgrade, unlock bootloader, upgrade, reflash twrp, and restore data?...
Its possible?
thanks so much
As far as I understand:
You do not need to unlock bootloader if you stay with stock ROM (no custom ROM).
The signed TWRP (from tenfar) can be flashed using axon7tool without bootloader unlocked, and root (currently SuperSU 2.79) to be flashed immediately after (since you swipe to allow system modifications).
Then you must upgrade immediately TWRP (from inside TWRP using latest TWRP .img file https://twrp.me/devices/zteaxon7.html), otherwise the signed TWRP has fatal bugs and cannot be used to backup and restore.
I don't think that will work...
Use the stock backup app.

The problem is i can't install any custom recovery on jiayu (advanced) the only one working is the stock rom using sp tools
i do have the 4.4.4 kitkat never flashed the lollipop i tried flashing:
twrp 3.1.1-0 using mobileuncle and sp tools (using both download only and firmaware update modes)
cwm 6.0.5.1 using sp tools
twrp 3.1.0-2 aroma edition using sp tools
twrp 3.0.0-2 using flashify
twrp 3.0.2-1 using flashify
When i reboot to the recovery it just stay there with jiayu logo and then reboot to system
and then when i flash the stock recovery using sp tools both down/firmaware up , it just works normally.
thanks for anyone willing to help:good:
Are you rooted? Try with rashr
