Spotify skips/stops when in my pocket - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, my oneplus 2 is on version 2.0.2 and I'm having a weird Spotify bug. When it's in my pocket it'll skip and stop. I thought somehow it was turning on using the double tap to wake gesture so I disabled it but it and it didn't make a difference. I also use poweramp and I've never has this happen with that app. Maybe it's turning on the screen somehow? Any help would be appreciated.

There are gestures for Music control that include play, pause, next and back. Might check to see if those are enabled. Another way of making sure it's not gesture related would be to always put your phone in your pocket with the screen facing out. That ensures that your thigh isn't 'drawing symbols' on your touch screen. Downside is exposing your screen to things you bump in to...

I tried both of those already. I don't use the music gestures so I never turned them on. Weird because it doesn't happen with poweramp, only spotify.

Screen saver or locker available?

The other day I tried my XDA2 as an MP3 player for the first time, walking to the supermarket with headphones on. I realised that you must keep the machine turned on otherwise Windows Media Player stops playing. Bit surprised by this! (Does this fit with what other people have found? Seems a little impractical.)
So, I had to walk to Tescos with the XDA2 switched on in my trouser pocket. By the time I got there, I'd managed to open the Contacts app, find an ex-girlfriend's contact info and edit it. I'm not sure how I did this in my pocket. (But she always used to call me 'Clever ****' )
Anyway, has anyone heard of an app that covers the screen with some sort of blank page and turns off the backlight, so that I need to touch a specific spot to reactivate the regular display? With something like that, I couldn't accidentally mess about with the machine and cause havoc. If such a thing doesn't exist, does someone fancy making one? Surely it would be so simple.
Would be interested in your thoughts, XDA2 brethren.

WMP has an option to Toggle off the screen.
Tools - Settings - Buttons
Hardware buttons are still live but the screen, and touch capability, are disabled. It also helps to extend battery life.
COOOL!
Perfect! Map the Action button to the screen toggle and my prayers are answered! Thanks a bunch for that - I'd discovered how to map play, pause, stop etc to the cursor pad, but didn't realise what 'screen toggle' did.
Nice one. Much appreciated.

[Q] Any way to disable wake-on-motion?

Seems to me that far and away the #1 battery killer in Wear is the fact that the watch turns itself on constantly due to incidental movements. Hopefully this will be addressed in the next OS update (however that works) but in the meantime... I'm using a Moto 360 and I've read that "silencing" the phone would turn this feature off, didn't work though. I'm thinking of making an app that would just force the screen off until I hit the hardware button and disregard accelerometer events, but I don't know if this is possible. Anyone know if there's a working fix to the overzealous motion wake yet? If not I'll give it the ol' college try...

Can someone please help with this?? I have the same problem!
I would really like this as a feature too. In class it can be a bit distracting. There should really be a ton more options in the Android Wear app. Options like:
Disable Motion to Wake
Disable Tap to Wake
Swipe up/down (on the bottom) to hide/show notifications
Option to re-show dismissed weather cards without saying "Show me the weather".
Option to turn off vibrator (I can just glance at my watch when I feel my phone vibrate)
To answer the OP, no you can not disable wake-on-motion.
Many want this, I want this but who knows what Google will offer.
Rumor is there will be a Android Wear update soon, but I read the main thing is you will be able to play music from your watch, great I get 16-17 hours battery life and I really want to use it as a MP3 player.

Meizu MX5 Lock screen bug/glitch while playing music (FlyMe 5)

Hey, I have MX5 with the latest "stable" international version of FlyMe installed and I keep getting a weird glitch or bug with the lockscreen while playing music (I'm not sure if it's only happening while playing music but it's certainly most common)
The standard lockscreen with music playing on background looks like this:
http://imgur.com/1wDLpEw
And sometimes, when I pust the power button, or try to unlock/wake the screen or even without touching anything it "switches" to this weird lock screen, which is smaller, has different wallpaper, can be swiped to the right (and doesn't even show the right song playing) and overall it's just a ****up. Several tries to lock/unlock the phone get rid of it, but it appears again few minutes after.

This happens both with the stock music player and the Google music I tried afterwards. I also tried hard reset and it didn't help either.
Any suggestions?
I figured out this bug may be caused by a magnet in my leather pouch. If the phone gets close to the magnet it opens the weird glitchy windowed lockscreen. I made a video about it:

Autorotation for screen is way too sensitive

Every time I sit my phone down on a table, it rotates.
Had to lock my auto rotation, I am currently using Tasker to allow it on some apps, like YouTube and Netflix, or anything with video pretty much.
The final straw for me was trying to listen to a voicemail, if I hit play and then put the phone up to my ear, it would stop because it rotated. I'm not holding it up to my ear sideways, but it's just enough to cause it to flip.
It's way too high, and I doubt it will be fixed.
Has anyone used another ROM like a Lineage based ROM? Does it still have the problem? I imagine that it could be fixed through software calibration, or in a completely different ROM, never have existed in the first place.
Anyone have any other fixes?

I used Tasker to solve this issue. I found it to be overly sensitive also. You just going to tasker, start a new profile. Select the apps you want to auto rotate. I just have YouTube. Create a new task, actions, screen, auto rotate. Set it to on. Then back all the way out long press the task and select an exit action. Set it to turn auto rotation off. So every time I open YouTube autorotation goes on. Everytime I close it Autorotation goes off

In my experience, all you have to do is the first part. I don't have an exit task and it works fine and autorotate is on with only on the apps I have selected.
How to fix it... at least it worked for me
it seems to be caused by the accelerometer/gyroscope being mis-calibrated, to recalibrate it,
1. go to dialer
2. open the number pad, and enter *#808#
3. select "sensor self-test and calibration"
4. lay the phone on a known flat surface
5. then tap the buttons with the word "accelerometer" and "gyroscope" about 5 times each
6. exit the menu and see how the screen rotation feels
Just tried, can't say I noticed much difference..

Ahaa , thought it was just me.
Annoying
You can turn off autorotation and use this app to turn it on only in selected apps. Works flawlessly for me [emoji2]

It's ****ing annoying.. why don't they change it or at least offer a sensitivity slider in settings...
Have the issue on the 5T as well...

+1 I mentioned this a long time ago, when setting the phone down I have to be sorry careful not to slant the phone. Or it'll rotate..
First phone I've ever had that problem on..

I do not want to change a habit I've never had to just because an OEM couldn't do their jobs properly.
It's safe to say as much as I like the one plus (mostly for the 835 and extra ram. I will never buy another Oneplus, they just don't have any depth of any kind. HTC for me..Ois and all the above minus 2GB of ram.
dladz: It looks we have pretty common history of phones - at least last four phones iPhone wasn't good enough? I was thinking about switching to Apple before OP5, but again I decided not.
OP5 is almost best one, but have few "little" cons I hate about it:
- cannot wake phone by home button (I don't mean fingerprint unlock), just waking up as any similar phone has HTC 10, Nokia 6 etc.
- stupid sound profiles switch, which isn't the same as with regular android do by "vibration" and "no sound at all" modes...
- stupid stock dialer, thankfully replaced by Google one
- and this awful rotation thing, does it have some solution except additional APP? I tried to turn it off, but every time I sit in car, want to watch video in browser etc. I have to turn it ON manually, which is quiet annoying!
To fix the problem you have to recalibrate the sensor.
To perform this go to Settings / about the phone / tap 5 times on kernel version.
Then a test system menu appear.
Choose no 25 Accelerator, put your phone on a table and tap button calibrate.

Question Change a few settings

Hello all!
My Razer Phone 2 stopped charging. This is how my Razer Phone 1 also died, basically the charging port went bad, then worse, then died completely.
Anyway I got the Nothing instead, since price and specs fit me pretty fine.
However I want to change a few things. I might be blind in the settings menu, but I'm hoping you'll still help me!
I got a few points I'd like changed, and no amount of googling helped me here:
1. The phone turns on the screen when I pick it up. But there are often mistakes, and the screen just turns on by itself when I'm walking with it in my hand, or in my pocket. It has happened already a few times, after having for phone for 48 hours, that I have dismissed some notifications because of this. Can I stop this function all together?
2. I can also press the screen once and the screen will turn on. This is also a problem when the phone is in my pocket. On my Razer I had to double tap and it still turned on sometimes in my pocket. I ran the Razer phone with Nova Launcher, maybe I have to change to this launcher from the Nothing one to get this double tap feature?
3. I can turn off the screen by double tapping on the home screen. That is a feature I always use and appreciate. I never put the phone screen down so the lights on the backside won't get used. I always double tap to turn on the screen, check for notifications, and double tap to turn the screen off should there be no notifications. Nothing phone won't turn off the screen with a double tap unless I actually unlock it, so I can't do a quick check for notifications by double tapping and double tapping again. It won't matter if the phone is on a table, but I frequently check notifications and put the phone back to my pocket, and having to go for the screen button is not exactly for me. Do I need Nova Launcher here?
4. I NEVER use sounds on my phone, except for the alarms. When someone calls me while the screen is turned off, the screen turns off and I get vibration. If the screen is on I won't get any vibration from it, only a visual notification which is easy to overlook if I let it sit with the screen on but locked if I just checked notifications. Also I like the feedback in my hands in case I am doing something on the phone. I already missed some calls because of this. Can it be changed?
5. Is it possible to manipulate the glyph on the backside? I found a "secret" setting which makes them light up to the music playing, but that became pretty annoying just after 5 seconds. Are there some basic things you can do with the light? Like making a custom event and then specify how the light should react? Could be something simple like when a call is active the lights come on very dim? Maybe a 3rd party app someone did?
6. The Razer Phone 2 (and 1) has HUGE speakers in the top and bottom, so I have been living with pretty big bezels. The Nothing has the same size but the phone is almost 100% screen. If I need to go to the bottom and press a back button or something, I cannot reach anymore like on the Razer. Is there a way to add some virtual bezels on Android?
7. I really hate this "notch" or "camera bump". It is a bit of the same as number 6, but can I remove it completely, so the top of the screen where the camera is won't be used at all? The whole line, effectively adding more bezel here too.
I am probably picky, but I have used my phone in a specific way for my whole life, and I am not really good with changes. Also I think a phone should adapt to my needs, and I shouldn't adapt to it.
Thanks for reading and hopefully helping
To be honest, sounds like the Nothing Phone isn't the right device for you.
I like to know the answer to question 1 too.

1. There is an option to turn this feature off under Display->Lock Screen called Lift to show lock screen.
2. Don't know, but you should try using the Nova Launcher.
3. Don't know, but you should try using the Nova Launcher.
4. Very niche use case, you can try to search some root methods.
5. There is root app which can control the light you can try that.
6. and 7. There should be some root apps or magisk modules which allows to do that.
To 2: (I dont know if this works on NothingOS since im on Paranoid Android. But both are very near to stock, maybe it works for you or for others.) I disabled that tap to activate setting and am using fingerprint while screen is off. This can also act as a quick look for notifications, for that i tap where the fingerprint reader is really short so it fails to unlock. This way only the always on display shows up for 3-4 seconds.
Nova wont change anything lockscreen related.
To 5: If you have root, time and like playing around with commands and apps, you can try tasker. Since im on Paranoid Android and the glyphs arent really implemented yet, i made a task that fits my needs perfect.
To your other problems: i think too, the phone should adapt to the user. So i suggest you to wait, i guess there will come roms that are way more customizable.
And maybe a pixel would fit your needings better than this phone because there is a big custom rom scene around.
