Hi,
So I just successfully installed JP9 firmware and I have Froyo running perfectly on my Galaxy 3, but there are several Orange apps pre-installed which I want to get rid of + the ugly TouchWiz UI.
So first I'd like to know how to root G3 and then get rid of these two things.
Many thanks for your help.
try titanium backup... it can remove any system file..
Absolute system root is what I used for the exact same thing. To bad you'll have to "pay" for it.
You could also try doing it via adb but for some reason that rom didn't have read\write capability.
Oh and whatever software you use, don't delete oranges home screen selector. For some reason the rom wouldn't launch for me after that.
Oh2 and be sure to have alternative launcher installed before removing any launchers..

Orange ROM is restricted to the user and applications. My suggestion is to upgrade to a much faster ROM of Froyo, that is precooked. This will remove your Orange branding on the phone (i.e. debrand it) and will mean you can remove any unnecessary applications still on the phne). In it's current state, because it's Orange's Firmware, there's not a lot you can do to it.
I'm Orange branded, used z4root, and Super Manager to remove the Orange crap all apart from homescreen selector. I removed Layar and Thinkfree Office too as never used. Left TW on just in case want in the future so don't know if that would break it but the rest is now gone for good and I have 20mb more phone storage
id suggest keeping touchwiz as a backup launcher expecially if you are using a third party launcher
you can get rid of touchwiz by installing launchers like laucher, adw, golauncher etc .
or use this awesome theme: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1149113
..
When i got my phone i immediately installed Kyrillos 5.7 so I have no idea how TouchWiz works. Is it that much worse than other launchers that everyone wants it gone?

Hope you enjoy!
Downloading now. Will flash and report back.
Well so far it seems to be a very smooth ROM. The only issue I have run into so far is Swype not working. Besides that it seems to be a nice functional ROM. Good job.

Thanks, I have tried and it actually worked randomly for my friend and never worked for me. Im not much of a Swyper, but my suggestion would be uninstalling swype, and then signing up for the beta if you use Swype.
Thanks for the report!

Yeah, in the past as well as now, that has never worked for me. It always fails 100% of the time. I have other like keyboards that I can use. I will continue testing for a day or two and report any issues. I really like some of the icons and the animation you have cooked into this ROM. It's surprisingly fast and responsive. Hard to believe that this is your first ROM.

I mean the DarkCore kernel is still just a CWM3 Kernel based off of the voodoo kernel. So in retrospect it should work, that being said I understand what you mean and will flash it right now to test
EDIT: Flash went perfect! Swype is now working, for the next update I will just add that, the coloring doesnt match my ROM, but neither did the original swype, this is actually a much cleaner look. So thanks! Swype is now working

I used it on apex 7.2 and had no problems.....I've always had to flash it in CWM3 i've never tried in CWM2 so idk?
after about a day of use, im a pleased to day that it runs very smooth and fast and have yet to have any problems. However i do have some suggestions for furture updates:
Add some adblock, most roms have some sort of adblocker in them
Have a way to change the settings on the TW launcher(its sort of annoying have the 1st screen be the default screen, and also the app drawer is unorganized. There shud b a way to sort alphabetically.)
Boot time is pretty fast, but it takes a while to turn off
Personally id rather have stock TW icons, the SGS icons are sort of bland.
Hope this helps. Ill keep u posted on future problems/suggestions

Ya In my next release I was probably going to go with the TW4.5 so people can have the option to edit all the stuff they want.
The Icons i dont know what to tell you cause i kinda like that look but if thats what everyone wants ill be more than happy to change it back
Finally with the ad blocker dont know how to implement that so if anyone knows how I can PLEASE PM me and Ill ad it for the next release without a doubt.
Thanks for testing!
No problem im happy to test. And also i dnt no if its just my phone but the power control widget doesnt work

Hello Guys,
I can't post on the Development Thread yet, but I have been closing following development threads, they are been most helpful.
I wanted to to Thank you for all the Dev and Testers to coming of these wonderful Roms.
I'm not sure the issue I'm facing is due to usage ATT version of S4 but instead of locked boot-loader I'm not sure it is not working for me.
Issue:
Foxhound DarkTheme don't working properly when I tried with both 3.0 and 3.1 version. I see the headings is always remained with Stock look and partially cut from the bottom. This is evident in Setting screen and even the dialer setting and anywhere that heading is used. Dark them on dialer does not work either and remain stock.
I have tried complete full wife with delvik, cache, system, data and integrated storage.
Tried first going with stock Theme and then reflash Rom without wipe to Dark Theme.
Nothing works, I don't see why this is such a pain since the dark theme is working for many people on on a fresh flash after a full clean.
My differences are :
Using ATT version of I337 of S4
Using TWRP 2.6.3.0 to clean/format partitions and flash roms
I really appreciate any tips anyone could give me.
Thanks
Just want to jump in and say even Wireless Tethering does not work.
Just went ahead with Foxohound 2.0 Rom and all works great.
Dark UI Theme works everything aligned and PNGs are filled in.
Wifi Tethering works.
I'm kind of thinking 3.1 Rom has issues with compatibility on various S4 models including ATT variant.
I think as for beta testing for themes and UI modes it could be good test with different careers provisioned phones since their true model number is always different from what put in the build.props.
Hi all
So I have an interesting aesthetics / theme question. Here's the background: I have a S5 Dev Edition phone with TWRP. My first custom ROM was Team UBs 24jun version. I really liked the look of it (especially the small fonts and icons) but thought it was a bit unstable so I then installed the unofficial CM 10jun version. That worked well but some apps said they weren't compatible with it. So today I experimented with the new UB 13jul ROM. Unfortunately that wasn't too stable so I went back to the CM one. However after I reinstalled CM it looked quite different, with much larger icons and fonts.
Now in hindsight it looks like I didn't do a complete wipe in between UB and CM the first time around so CM must have picked up the system settings including fonts and icons that UB had installed. This time around after a full wipe CM installed its own defaults, which are much bigger. [I have CM on my Nexus 5 and it looks a lot more like that]. The apps that didn't work by the way do work now.
So my question to you all is do you know what UB's settings are for fonts and icons? I would like to replicate them under CM. Is there a theme setting that contains all of UB's presets?
I should also mention I have the full version of Nova launcher which I installed on CM, and UB had it as well. If it can be changed in Nova setting somewhere please let me now.
thx
PS - I tried to post this in the dev section under UB but it didn't let me, so posted it here.

Well, the easiest thing you could do is under nova launcher settings, go to look and feel, you can change the font and icon size there. I believe it only applies to launcher settings, so it won't change any of the system fonts or sizes. For those you just go to settings, display and there's a font section there... as far as I know themed roms occasionally change the DPI of the entire system, to give everything a cohesive feeling, but there are also a lot of things that need to also be modified when you change the DPI, so exactly copying the look of a particular ROM is not quite as simple as it sounds.
Hope this helps.
DPI question solved
Hi
So I figured out the best way to set the DPI is to download texdroider from the play store. It handles it across the board for the device and everything looks great. I set my DPI to 370 btw.
Thx
Hey Developers,
So I was pretty excited to customize my k20 to make it look like it's mine but when I was checking out the themes. I noticed some things. Like Notification Bar Style, Icons nothing changes on applying any theme, notification design doesn't changes, status bar doesn't changes....etc. Even tried Nova Launcher, Pixel Launcher and many others but nothing happened. So literally I was messed up when I got a theme (Don't remembered the name) which atleast changed the notification bar. So what is the real cause there? Are there only limited number of themes to work well on MIUI 11 or what ?
Secondly I wanna know that how can I just get those fluid stock android 10 gestures on my phone. I know that MIUI 11 comes with full screen gestures but I never like it bcz of that sluggish animations. And atlast Is there any way to get stock android animations in Redmi K20 without installing any AOSP ? Basically What I wanna do is to make it just like Stock Android phone...
Thanks in Advance for any kind of help.

I wanna do that but I doesn't have any experience nor can I find a stable official rom for K20 to meet my daily requirements.
I will surely do that If I found a Youtube Video on installing the most stable pixel rom with review.
U can use this rom
I think its good for daily driver
