Leather back case - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm thinking of getting a leather back when the moto x style gets released in UK but not sure if I'll like the bumper case that comes with the phone, as I've never used one before.
If I don't like it I'll need to buy a normal phone case but want to know if putting one on will damage the leather in anyway?
I had the G4 when it first came out and remember that at the start there weren't much case options if you chose to have a leather back. Is this the same with the moto x?

Favourite G2 protective cases

Hi guys,
Was just wondering if anyone had any recommendations for cases for the G2?
I like how it looks naked but am worried about dropping it!
If it was made entirely of that grippy grey material and didnt have the aluminium finish on the back itd make a difference but..
Also if phones had wrist strap loops I wouldn't need a case at all!
What are you guys using and what's good about it?
Thanks!
Edit: erm i just realised the existence of the G2 accessories forum
Sorry mods! orz
i got a smoke clear case from vanguard... 5/5 stars
Check out the Accessories forum
I like the cheap black G2 case that is posted in the accessory forum. I also trade off between that and the clear case with kickstand that T-Mobile sells. Got it on accessorygeeks.com for cheaper though. The clear one is hard to take off.
I use the G1 OEM Black Pouch for my phone. Mostly when its in my pocket to protect it from my keys and to keep dust away. Fits perfect. About $4 bucks on Ebay.
the cases at accessorygeeks.com are good
if you live in canada it takes 3 weeks to ship to you
I run naked! Well I grabbed a Stealth Guard on their site for $3 and so far I like it, protects the back fairly well...just wished it was on the side better
Bought a $3 case off of Amazon. Great fit butthe paint job isn't the best.

I did the Unthinkable...

So today I was getting out of my car on the way to class and i dropped my Droid X in the street!! Needless to say theres more than a few scratches and dings on it . I was very mad at myslef. I wish there was a way to fix these scratches and dents.
Anyways, my question is what is the best case for the droid X that will cover these scratches but add minimal to no extra bulk?
Thanks
Really, it's all going to be on you. I personally, like the Otterbox cases, however, you should probably look at the Verizon store, see if there's anything there you like, and then get on Amazon and see if you can find the same case (probably @ half price ).
I went with the Incipio case. I put a review in the accessories section, which reminds me i should get the pics up. But like stated above its all personal preference when it comes to cases.

get an epik case from ebay. only cases i use on my devices. I have one now for my thunderbolt.
I use the a no-name thin profile rubberized case available on Amazon here. It's only 3 bucks (with free shipping). It has a nice grippy feeling to it without being too grippy where it sticks in your pocket. It also adds very little bulk to the phone.
Dude, you had no case or screen protector? Lesson learned? Ebay has a ton of cases that would have protected your phone. I use the Verizon TPU semi rigig silicone case with Zagg invisible sheild on the screen. It's really protected.
Otterbox is VERY good, it completely encompasses the phone & also comes with a screen protector.

If you want the maximum protection, look at the Trident Kraken case for your DX. Check the price at Amazon, as they're usually lower. If you want intermediate range protection, check out Otterbox or Body Glove cases. They also are sold by Amazon.

Thanks for all of the advice guys! I just wish i had a time machine so i could avoid this whole fiasco!
I had a carbon fiber case on my dx when I dropped on a glacier but it hit some rocks on the screen side so it took some dings (last summer). Moral of this story is the best way to protect your phone isn't always a case or screen protector, sometimes its being extra careful.

Naked or Tough? (A poll about cases)

Simply put-
How many turbo users prefer no case?
How many turbo users need protection?
I want to get an idea of how many people are confident with the build quality of this phone, i want to know the averages for preference of our turbo users, and i want it simply put in yes or no on the poll.

Yeah same. Phone is great without case. The trouble with the cases is that most of them don't seem to fit very well. I have the 64 gb version. Tried the moto flip case. It was so tight I almost had to rip the case in half to get it back out. Otterboxes for this phone are junk. The only good fitting case I've found is the incipio dual pro. I keep it off at home and on at work.

I have an otterbox commuter for my 64gb bn and it fits perfectly. Not too tight and has already saved my phone from 9 separate drops. I definitely wouldn't call it junk. Sure a bit bulky. But that's the price you pay for a tough case.

The defender was definitely junk. I had to return mine. The way they cut the screen protector out is horrible. It makes it so you have to swipe down two or three times from the notification bar. I tried the commuter but then I remembered that every single one I've gotten in the past has cracked and fallen apart when I didn't even drop it.
I use a case only to hold the metal piece so that it connects to my magnetic car mount. Aside from that this phone is naked.
No need to case it! It isn't a samsung phone!
I use a case at work. I work in a shop so there's grease, weld spatter, grinding dust etc. I brought the phone in ONE DAY and it slipped out of my hand and bounced off a metal welding table. Never again. I have the otter box commuter and I like it. Its a little bulky but still fits in my back pocket just fine. If I didn't work in such a messy and hazardous workplace I would never have a case on this sexy phone.
Naked at home, sarcophagus when out
Otterbox Defender. I am pretty rough on phones. Wouldn't last a week without it.

No case. I'm in construction. And even when I'm carful my phone can take a beating. My g2 was all scratched up in the first week. This beast still looks brand new! Very impressed
Screen is covered by motorola if it breaks. No need for a case if you ask me.
Naked all the way
I prefer no case, but I prefer more a phone that doesn't have a cracked screen or broken internals
I go caseless. I just like the way the ballistic nylon feels in my hands. I'm waiting for the new Tudia case for the BN version to use for when I go out running. That's really the only time I feel like I need one.
This is the first phone I've had in years (since pre-android days) on which I have not put a cover. I've seen people's comments about the Turbo being ugly, but the ballistic nylon is the first phone for me where I am both confident enough in the general build and impressed enough with the looks that I cannot bear to hide it behind a case.

Question to Moto X owners - experience with wooden back

Hi all,
I sticked to the Sony Xperia Z line the last years and now time has come for a new mobile. To cut things short - the coming Moto X Style is definitely on my radar now. I love the possibility to customize its looks, and here comes my question to all Moto X users that have opted for a wooden back cover: What are your experiences in terms of durability and looks after some months of use? Would you go for the wooden finish again? I am a bit scared that the wooden back will look cool in the beginning and soon wear off and lose its charme...
Moto reps said during the launch event, that the 2015 backing will be better than the older models and more durable.
Does this imply there have been issues/complaints about the previous models?

Yeah I think I remember hearig a review that people had peeling problems and discolouration. But obviously Moto fixed any issues with manufactering defects so atleast you get good customer service.

Wondering how slippery the wood backs are. I hated how slippery the gs6 was

I've had the 2013 Moto X with the Bamboo back for about 1.5 years and it has been great. It's not too slippery and I've had no issues with discoloration or durability. The 2013 Moto X had four wood options: Bamboo, Walnut Finish, Ebony Finish, and maybe Teak finish or something. I don't remember the last one. The Bamboo back was real bamboo and didn't have any issues, but the "finishes" were not particularly durable and would peel away from the backing. I don't know if they were real wood or just a laminate made to look and feel like wood, but they were not great quality. I think you can feel confident getting a wood back as long as you know it's real wood and not some cheap imitation. My guess is that after the negative feedback, they will use real wood for all of the backs, but I don't know. I personally am going for leather this time around, but just to see how it is, not out of disappointment with my wood back.

It must be real wood since they advertise each one has a unique grain pattern.

That's pretty bad ass.
Does anyone know if the backs are swappable afterwards? Or is this permanent after moto maker?

It's permanent ... but they let you change it out within 14 days if you don't like it.
You also have 14 days from delivery to redesign or exchange your customized smartphone or watch.

I too had bamboo back. It was surprisingly durable
speaking as a guy that works doing phone repairs i boubt it will not be changeable but motorola phones are always very difficult to work on. i do not expect it to be possible without significant experience. i just had to change a battery on an older x today and it was hell separating the back. and these things tend to be harder not easier on newer models https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Motorola+Moto+X+Back+Cover+Replacement/16971

Slim Mi2s flip case that replaces the back of the phone

Does anyone know of a seller that will post to the UK who sells the flip case that replaces the back of the phone instead of just covering it and making it even thicker. I'm looking for a case like this one. Unfortunately, that seller doesn't actually post out the case he has pictures of and sent out one like this.
It's one of my favourite things about the mi2s that you can get a case that you take the original back of and replace it with a case that is slim, but still protects the screen. I tend to buy a new one of these cases every year when they get worn out - but no-one seems to see them any more. This phone is chunky enough and I don't want to make it even bigger and heavier with a case to protect it. Also, I don't even know where the original non-flip back of the case is any more that I'd need for the cases that everyone else seems to sell!
Thanks very much
