HI everybody
I updated my n910H to 5.1.1 , worked well and decided to flash a custom kernel . also faced to problem with wifi and now i decided to flash my original kernel.
i extracted the boot.img from update package N910HXXU1COH4_N910HOLB1COH4_N910HXXU1COH3_HOME.tar
now, im not sure how to flash it !! via odin or anything else needed
thank u for your help
any help ?????
when I had my S3 if I needed the stock kernel I would simply reflash the stock rom since they usually have the stock kernels built-in

Never tried with samsung phones (and probably it is not possible) but with my other android devices I just extract the boot.img from the ROM and flash it with fastboot using the command "fastboot flash boot boot.img".
With a samsung device you should probably (or definitely) create a flashable .zip file with the boot.img of your stock ROM and flash it via recovery.
You need to download your original kernel from net, there are 2 types of file you’ll find, one is .zip and another one is .tar. If you download .zip file you have to flash it with recovery (CWM/TWRP) or if you download .tar file (don't try to make your own .tar file) then you can flash it with Odin tool.

I tried looking around, but couldn't find the stock recovery for the P3100. It's available only for the P3113. Could someone with the stock tab upload the recovery here, please? To flash via Odin, obviously.
Thanks!
PS if a thread like this already exists, please link me to it and then delete this thread!

You can download from samfirmware a full rom for p3100 ,extract it with winrar ,and inside you'll fin stock recovery.img.If the extension of the rom it's .tar.md5 ,just remove .md5 form extension, and you'll be able to extract it with winrar without a problem.Cheers!
If you have the stock kernel (boot.img) and stock ROM (fully stock, no files deleted), stock recovery should flash itself back to your phone every time the device boots up.
No, I don't, which is why I wanted the recovery!

I can also use mobile ODIN free or PAID and flash only the stock recovery, if that what you want.

Hi, im neew here.
I got the recovery.img from sammobile, what can i do to remove cwm?? i have to install this or move it to my android?
After rooting the official rom,I'm always removing cwm recovery by flashing official recovery.img using Mobile Odin.I you don't want to buy Mobile Odin Pro from Play, you can use the free version from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1347899
Cheers!
I want to install my stock recovery to be able to download OTA updates using my stock themed firmware but I can't figure out how to install the recovery.img that i got from my official firmware. I already tried to flash it using odin & through twrp recovery but the file is not supported. Can anybody convert my recovery.img into a flashable file?

Look HERE
Flashing the stock firmware for your phone will also flash stock recovery and stock kernel.

I am currently using stock firmware and stock kernel but my recovery is twrp. I want to restore my stock recovery without affecting my root and modified system files.

You will need to find a stock recovery only image that can be installed by ODIN.

I was able to extract my stock recovery.img from my stock firmware but it is formatted as Disc Image File. I am wondering if its possible to convert it to other format so that i can flash it via odin or recovery.

You can`t flash the extracted stock recovery with Odin but you can with Mobile Odin Pro from your phone. It also flashes .img files. Did it myself on the I9505.

I tried to flash recovery.img that i extracted from my stock firmware via mobile odin pro but got some problems. After boot logo, it goes back to the setup wizard like when you open your phone for the first time. I can't also proceed with the wizard since i'm getting an error like secsettings stopped responded.
Hello the community,
i'd like to ask you for help because i don't manage to make it.
Here is the problem :
1/ i flashed last firmware for the phone
2/ then root it, install latest busybox....
3/ dump from my phone cache & system using this :
dd if=/dev/block/platform/13540000.dwmmc0/by-name/CACHE of=/sdcard/cache.img
dd if=/dev/block/platform/13540000.dwmmc0/by-name/SYSTEM bs=4096 of=/sdcard/system.img
I check it using linux reader. No problem at all
4/ Then repack those 2 files with others files which are on stock tar file (boot, hidden...)
5/ Launch Odin, put my tar on AP then flash.
- All were ok until it came to cache.img then fail
On stock tar, there is a system.img (not .raw). Don't know if it is sparsed but....i suppose as it needs to be converted to bre used with linux reader.
So i dunno what to do to have a valid cache.img & system.img
If you can help me, i will be grateful.
Thanks for all.
Hi
I'm trying too making a pre rooted stock rom flashable through odin. But i get everytime a "failed" from Odin.
However why are using your cache instead of cache.img present in stock firmware?
Try unpack stock firmware and replace only custom "system.img" that contains root and finally repack stock firmware!
Well some info i need is in cache
why don't you make a flashable zip since you know the partions then add root

A stock firmware pre-rooted flashable through odin is more comfortable whenever you wanna reset your phone isn't need to using FlashFire or Mobile Odin. IMHO
Hello Canada. I'm on Rogers and updated a few days ago to the new 6.01 Marshmallow ROM. I have root. Seems to be not much development work on our device, the G900W8, wanted to try some custom kernels and see if they would work but they all seem to be for the 900F. I'm interested in battery life improvements.
So I wanted to get a stock kernel I could flash in case something goes wrong and it won't boot, or if I just don't like the kernel. Some custom kernels require you to flash from stock rather than other custom kernels.
So how do we get things like kernel and radio out of our new G900W8 download? The download I have from Rogers is G900W8VLU1DPD3_G900W8OYA1DPD3_G900W8VLU1DPD3.
Use 7zip to open archive the stock rom. Then extract boot.img. IMG files can flash via TWRP.
Did some searches, seems like Flashify will do it. Gonna give it a try.

Thank you. I grabbed the file boot.img from the downloaded Rogers ROM file and copied to my PC. It has a file size in Windows Explorer of 12319. I also used Flashify to extract it, copied it to the PC, it has a size of 13,312. Wonder why the size difference?
I've been using a custom kernel on my G900W8 but I'm getting a lot of performance issues, so I want to go back to stock.
I do have a file I extracted called boot.img which I believe is the kernel. How do I restore it?

Wait until you get an expert opinion. I was looking here and there for threads to extract and flash the stock kernel but ended up bricking my device. (No recovery, No bootup, THANK GOD I could access download mode).
I extracted the boot.img but didn't know how to flash it. There was a thread, a script that could turn .img to .tar.md5. I did that and flashed the file through Odin and boom. Stuck at bootlogo. So I try to restore the nandroid backup, but recovery keeps bootlooping.
Had to install stock rom completely through Odin...But it still isn't booting up.
User @nickpatel130285 has shared stock kernel for G900F in this post.
I flashed using that zip file and it worked like charm. So what you can do is replace the boot.img in that zip file with the one which is compatible with your variant and leave the rest as it is. Repack and Flash.
It should work but just in case if you mess things up you'll need to flash stock rom using Odin. So make sure you make a nandroid backup and have a copy on your PC (safely).
Flash at your own risk.
