anybody has a direct link for the download ?
If owners of US and RoW LTE devices would like to do a an 'adb logcat' to capture the ota links, you could post them here. I'm grabbing the WiFi OTAs now and they will be uploaded to the post in my sig shortly.

I'm not quite sure, but you can at least get the download link from the logcat.
1) Make sure adb works for your tablet
2) Open up the "system update" screen on your tablet but do not hit "download"
3) Open up a command prompt and type "adb logcat" but do not hit enter
4) Plug your tablet into your computer. Once your tablet is fully connected and recognized, proceed to 5
5) Hit enter on the command pompt. As soon as you do that, hit "download" on your device
6) After a few seconds, unplug your tablet
7) Search the command prompt for the download link
You'll want to do this twice. Once for the incremental and once for the full OTA

I have the Wifi version which it seems you are already getting the OTA address for now. I already downloaded the OTA I was just going to flash it in TWRP but haven't been able to locate it on the drive yet. I am going to continue digging for now.

Didn't realize that we could flash it like any other zip. My twrp tried to flash it but error'd out.
I found it in /data/data/com.nvidia.ota/ROMs/. I couldn't flash it via twrp.

was it an incremental?
Yes its only 25mb so I'm guessing it is.
It wasn't large enough to be a full ROM, just an incremental patch.
You can force download the full ota by clearing out the update data and then selecting "check full update"
Or I could just aptg... Sorry download the full ota that you have so kindly, and quickly provided in your thread.
Update**
Downloaded full ota, flashed, wiped, reflashed SuperSU, and... Flawless Victory! Thank you!

Hello mates,
this morning my nexus 7-wifi (unlocked bot not rooted. w/ CWM) said me there is a system update for new android os. Kitkat.
Then i install the update without getting any CWM backup.
Zip file started to be installed in CWM and it processed all install. steps successfully.
However when the progress bar reach to %100, it said something like "...status 7.... installation aborted" (do not remember clearly).
And after reboot i come across a new boot animation (kitkat's new animation i think) which does not end up to a system start or an error message.
Now,
what should i do to complete installation of kitkat?
Thanks in advance.

I did the same exact thing that you did and experienced the same error. Luckily, I came across a stickied thread, ""Flashing a factory image with fastboot / return to stock" and followed the instructions EXACTLY and.. it worked! It took me back to 4.3 which was great because at lease tablet was working again! (I had tried everything else I could think of!) What was funny was that within 2 minutes of the tablet up and running again I received the OTA push for 4.4!
I would strongly suggest following the instructions posted in the thread I mentioned above as they worked perfectly.

Hello buddy,
thank you for the feedback. But i do not want to lose my data in the tablet. So, first i will try to fix this without wiping data.
Currently i install adb files to my pc.
And i managed to find the zip file i need to upgrade from 4.3 to 4.4 without losing any data.
If i can flash this zip file via adb i will be ok. but i cannot flash it via adb, because of the recovery i am using (i think ). With CWM i could not do that. after adb sideload **********.zip command, it says "error: device not found"
now i am looking for a solution to this error.
But if i could have had my tablet open in stock recovery, it might already be solved.
PROBLEM SOLVED.
HERE IS THE STEPS TAKEN:
DOWNLOAD OTA FILE FROM 4.3 TO 4.4 (NOT FACTORY IMAGE).
DOWNLOAD LATEST SDK, RUN SETUP.
PUT THE OTA FILE IN sdk\platform-tools DIRECTORY.
SIDELOADING THE OTAFILE:
http://www.droid-life.com/2013/02/1...date-a-nexus-without-root-or-custom-recovery/
IF YOUR DEVICE IS NOT RECOGNIZED DURING SIDELOADING CHECK THIS:

I am actually getting the same problem. Each time I tap on the notification for the System update to 5.0.0, and it finishes the download and restarts to finish the installation, it simply hangs and won't proceed. Does anyone know what I need to do to make the update install?
Thanks.

1. The updates must be installed via STOCK Recovery or via OTA.
2. The updates via OTA have to be installed in STOCK ROMS for the device model: GT-i9505G (no for other models).
3. The OTA updates aren't for Custom Roms.
My phone is a stock GPE S4 I9505G with stock KITKAT 4.4. I am downloading from OTA. The only thing I have done is Root temporarily, but had to remove it due to my work Good+ Enterprise detected it and would not
run. Now that unrooted, my work app works fine. I get the errors listed in the image that was attached to first post.
Any ideas to get the OTA to run?

Are u sure? You can see very clear that your stock recovery tells "KOT.49. I9505XXUFNA5" on your first pic attached. This is the stock recovery of one GT-i9505. Anyway if you are sure about the model of your device:
1. Reflash the stock recovery (you can select NL3): HERE.
2. Try to update your phone now
I am sure. I wonder if during the "unroot" process it changed the recovery. Are you saying I should follow the original thread that I had for unrooting and use the NL3 image?
Should I follow these directions below? I would like to make this completely stock so when 5.0.1 comes out, I don't have to do anything but get the OTA.
NL3 is released.
NOTE: This image is *NOT* rooted! If you need root, see here.
WARNING: Stop asking if you can flash this on other phones. You can NOT. It is meant for the I9505G ONLY. This is NOT a "rom". This is a system image for the I9505G. Flashing to any other phone will brick it.

o) Download the I9505GUEUDxxx_FULL.tar.md5.gz package from below
o) Make sure you have the USB Drivers installed and you have Odin 3.09 from below
o) Put your phone in download mode and connect it to USB:
-Disconnect the phone from USB
-Power OFF your phone
-Hold Volume Down, Home, and Power
-When the "WARNING!!!" screen comes up, release the buttons
-Volume up to enter download mode
-Connect the phone to USB
o) Open Odin
o) Click on AP, then select the I9505GUEUDxxx_FULL.tar.md5.gz package you downloaded
o) Odin will extract the tar md5 file from the gzip archive, and this will take a while...be patient
o) Once the tar md5 is loaded, make sure you have a COM PORT in Odin ( any )
o) Click Start and wait till it finishes flashing...your phone should reboot when it's done

Android Central has the log change. It's bug fixes really.
Also, in this thread a user states that apparently only with the full 5.0.1 can you install it with CWM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/shi...p-nvidia-shield-tablet-ota-android-5-t2982677
You will lose root and CWM after the reboot but those took about 3 minutes to get back .. easy peasy. I'm now at 5.0.1 on my shield with root and CWM.
Cheers.
Hello aegern,
deletes the full update all the data? can you give me the recovery and root attach files?
Thanks

So here's what I did:
Download the full OTA then reboot to CWM (assuming your rooted + recovery) and unmount system partition ( I believe all others were unmounted) and then delete system, data, cache partitions respectively. Then flash the OTA zip followed by latest supersu.
Just tested this method and I have a rooted 5.01 32GB LTE US model working flawlessly. Even managed to take out the top spot in Hwbot Prime for the Shield (woops to newb for links I see lol)

So, did it work for you? I've tried the file in both this link and the official update and get the same thing with both. I'm still on KK and I can't install either the 5.0 or the 5.01 updates. I get the same "this is an ardbeg" error with any update I try to flash, and I'm flashing the full files, not the incremental updates. In fact, I have two tablets (both lte) and I updated the first one to 5.0 a week ago, no problem, but the new one I just bought, I can't even though I'm using the same files (cwm and update). I'm stumped.
Bah. nm. I went back and reinstalled the recovery from here again, http://forum.xda-developers.com/shi.../recovery-cwm-recovery-nvidia-shield-t2848064. Flashed 5.01 just fine. Not sure where I got the other recovery.

Hi dgjenkins, sorry answer so late. So, answering you first, not, it did not work for me. I actually did give up, the bad was that I tried so many ways to do it that I freezed the tablet and did not start again. Well, looking out there, I found this amazing video who saved my tablet of bust it again the wall and start from the original firmware.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsMo1tPlIFU
I did intal the Minimal ADB and Fastboot
Copy the image files in to the Minimal ADB and Fasboot directory c:\Programs Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot
Ope Minimal ADB and Fastboot
-Type: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
-Type: fastboot flash boot boot.img
-Type: fastboot flash system system.img
-Type: fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
-Type: fastboot flash staging blob
-Type: fastboot flash dtb tegra124-tn8-p1761-1270-a04-e-battery.dtb
And done . I can now install the updates from the stock firmware. Maybe I will root it again once a stable way to root the shield tablet appear out there. :cyclops:
Happy Holidays and Thanks for the interest! :good:
Nvidia updates definitely trump Android ones. These days, Google is in the habit of pretending that a nexus 5 camera bug is worthy of a new Android version (that was KitKat) or that an update is a great place to break functionality (App Ops, also with KitKat). Anything that's not a minor version with updates you know you want... Avoid on a non Nexus unless you have a great reason for it.
Manufacturers besides Google, see, they do this thing I like to call quality control. They generally release an OS that is ready for the hardware and software*. Crazy, right?
* unless that hardware is, say, the pen
I just got the new T-Mobile update, but I haven't flashed it. How do I get it off the phone? I looked in /cache and /download and it's not in either. I am rooted so I have access to all the folders.
Thanks

I used wugs to flash stock rom with no wipe. Then took the OTA. You can side load it as well. Then used wugs to re-root

Thank you
The full LYZ28J image is now available for download directly from Google.
does anyone know if there's a boot.img without forcencrypt for LYZ28J?
What's the difference, please, between the file posted by @biggiestuff
https://android.googleapis.com/pack...amu-ota-LYZ28J-from-LYZ28E-superblock-fix.zip
and the one posted by @jcsww

There is now I had made one earlier today for my new N6Shamu rom which uses the LYZ28J as a base. I de-odexed it as well. While I was making the rom, I edited the kernel so it does not force encrypt. Try this flashable zip and let me know how you get on.

Cool! Trying it now.
*EDIT* I can simply extract the .img, rename it, and drop it into the toolkit, correct?

Not sure if these two posts are related and I'm probably doing something wrong trying to apply this update. I am stock rooted with the MultiROM version of TWRP 2.8.7. When I go into ADB Sideload, ADB loses the connection so I can't sideload. I just updated to Windows 10 Pro too, so I don't know if that is related either.
These are the commands I used after I connected my phone:
adb devices (works)
adb reboot recovery (works)
In TWRP - Advanced, then ADB Sideload (works)
Swipe to Start Sideload (connection lost)
Cancel (connection restored)
Any tips or help to get this installed would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same issue. I found this somewhere and it worked:
From a command prompt (administrator):
adb devices and be sure it shows your device serial number.
adb reboot recovery
Use the Power button and Volume + button to get past the green droid with the red sign.
Unplug the usb cord from the PC and then plug it back in.
In W10, go to Device Manager.
Find your phone under Other Devices with a Yellow !.
Right click on it and choose "Update Driver Software"
Choose "Browse my computer", then "Let me pick from a list."
If you see categories, select "Android Device", then select "Android ADB Interface".
The driver will install and adb sideload should proceed with the update.
What a PITA but it worked.
Dear xda forums,
today I received the OTA file for Android 6.0.
First thing I did to the mobile phone (when I got it 3+ months ago) was installing TWRP and rooting it.
So far so good... I tried to install OTA via TWRP ADB Sideload feature. (Knowing normal Installation wouldn't work)
As long as I don't start 'ADB Sideload' in TWRP, I get the device listed with 'adb devices'
As soon as I start ADB Sideload, the devices doesn't appear in the command prompt anymore.
When I cancel ADB Sideload the device gets listed again.
Any guesses what I am doing wrong? Haven't found similar problems.

AFAIK it only works with the stock recovery. There you chose update from zip and go to your update. zip file.

Okay, didn't know that. Will try that on next OTA Update lol.
I now put a clean 5.1.1 Firmware on it, installed the OTA Update.
With 6.0 I installed TWRP and then SuperSU, think this way was better than upgrading my 5.1.1 Version.
Having root it is really easy to backup the apps and move to SD
