i am trying to get a friend of mine with a gs5 in australia, im in the states, fixed up with root and rom. the problem is i am not familiar with what phone she has over there. it is the 900i. i am having trouble finding a stock android rom that will go on it. seems like everything i find that says it will work on the phone is a touchwiz based rom. can yall please give me a suggestion on a good aosp/cyanogen rom fir this device? or tell me if it, the phone is compatible with the att, sprint, tmo, verizon roms. and i can find one myself.
also.. looking at this thread here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2699648 ... it is saying to run a backup and backup efs. i have slapped dozens and dozens of roms on phones and never backed up efs. yet i seem to remember some talk about it. anyways.. is this something that is important to backup? she doesnt have a lot of room on her storage. and sd card is maxed to boot. with no spare.
any help would be appreciated.

The 900I goes by KLTEDV
Here is the CM link : https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=kltedv
If you really want to backup your EFS, you can use a tool called EFS Professional. But, much like you after flashing what has to be literally hundreds of times, I've never had to restore EFS.

Hello guys. I have the n900t, I am now running tweaked s5 base n4 style v6.0. And I run alot of n9005 ROMS as well. With that said here is my issue. For only the past few weeks ( month tops) every time i make or recieve a phone call my data drips down to hspa. The second i hit call and right before my phone rings is when it happens. After my call the data takes a very long time to jump back up. This is a new issue and i have no idea what it is. However, i did flash back to a stock ROM and the issue was solved. And i forget which rom it was but it was soley TE based and there were no issues. I did try to flash a modem but it didnt take. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Or can anyone suggest a fix for it.
Thank you for your help.
bump.
Still having the issue. I tried to flash a new modem and it just failed anyway. Dont know if I should try a radio. I just cant fivure out why this happened out of no where. I was fine no matter what ROM I was running. Now...this crap. Please guys, 40 people saw this, can SOMEBODY please help.

1) Quite strange - your picture suggests you are on Verizon yet you comment about a N900T in the forum for the INTERNATIONAL Note 3. On what network are you? Are you aware that there might be network-specific factors involved which could only be visible for other users on exactly the same network in exactly the same region?
2) Try stock ROM (with corresponding stock modem) from a location with very good signal.
5 he physical device is an n900t, however, I am running as of now, the hyper drive note 5 port with n4 UI. When I do flash back to a full stock TW ROM all is good, A FEW TW based ROMs seem to be OK. Like this one, the calls do not affect the data signal. But most ROMs do effect it in that way. You said that it shows I'm running Verizon?
But I am very curious why all of the sudden I am having this issue. I have never had it before. Except with a few specific AOSP based ROMs. I just can't figure out what it is that's causing it. I have done vigorous wipes of the phone to no avail.
And I am in Philadelphia so there really is no place that is actually bad reception (except in the susubways of course...lol)
And thank you for your reply.

1) Your avatar mentions Verizon for some reason.
2) If it is all OK with the stock ROM then it is a problem with the custom ROM, ask in the specific thread for that specific ROM. Most likely it has something to do with the modem and the corresponding RIL.
So when ever a new ROM is flashed the modem is flashed as well. Unless the dev says otherwise?
Hello, I have the Exynos Note 4 and I'm losing the IMEI after flashing custom ROMS. I have tried restoring it with apps that back it up, but it is not working. The IMEI is restored when I use Odin and flash stock ROM. Any solution to this? I really need a custom ROM on my phone!
Thanks!
Are you sure you're flashing the correct rom for your model?
U , C, etc
I have the S Version, but I believe there aren't any ROMS for it. The problem I have is that the phone thinks it's roaming all the time and data gets disconnected when I use it for larger periods of time. Also LTE doesn't work (the LTE roaming option is disabled).
Is there any way to flash one of these other roms on my phone and restore the IMEI? Everything else seems to work great!
You might be in deep water dude. I hope you backed up your efs patitioncheck this link for more info...
Oh and flash the right ROM dude, looks like the radio is wrong for your country hence the roaming thing. Good luck!
If there aren't any custom rom for your model then I suggest you stick to official till then. You might end up with a brick.
Be patient and someone will build one. Or even ask a Dev to include it in his projects.
Also take a backup of efs and keep it somewhere safe.
I have a few questions for anyone familiar with the Samsung Galaxy J series, specifically the J3. I have virgin mobile, and after a long time suffering with their HTC Desire 510, I want to upgrade, and not wanting to spend $400 on a galaxy S5 , the J3 seems the next best phone to get. However, as I've grown used to having a rooted phone and customizing my phone as much as I want, etc, I want to make sure my next phone can be rooted, and has support for custom ROM's, etc.
The main thing that could help me with my decision would be some guidance as to whether other versions, the J2, J5, J7, etc, that are present here would be potentially compatible with the J3, or if I'm out of luck and should consider other options if rooting is a necessity for me.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Anyone?
I'm sure you can root it.
I'm using j5 and it took me like 15 minutes of reading and about an hour /including downloading and setting up all the things /for the root.
I just want to say that you would need to be prepared to wait until someone make a custom Rom for it.

Thats what I was thinking. I figure that rooting it (hopefully) is similar to the other J series. As long as its rooted, wouldn't I be able to (even w/o custom rom) debloat/customize/etc it with various root tools, apps2sd, etc? Or are those dependent on having a custom rom? On the only phone I've rooted so far (htc desire 510) I didn't really spend any time with stock rom when I rooted, instead immediately flashing Nonsense rom, so I'm not sure what limitations keeping stock rom comes with when rooted.
Thank you for the reply! It gives me a bit of hope at least.
I'm not really familiar with the device. As I said before I have a j5. According to the applications that you mentioned I think that it would be possible to get and install them. But rooting isn't quantum mechanics. There are some apps that you could easily install on almost any device and get the root privileges. For example kingroot I am sure you can find others. I usually root my devices trough pc.I recommend you to take some time before jumping on the first option that comes up as a possible solution.
According to changing the stock Rom. I don't known how developed is that treat so.. Again read here and there about it.
GL!
Let me know if I helped by hitting the thumb up
I dont think permanent root is going to be possible until a working twrp is made so that you can flash supersu. I know that sux, I wanted to get one for my wife because she broke the screen on her vm s3. But without root and the ability to get unlimited hotspot... nope. I asked a dev ( lrs121) if he would port twrp to it. He said he would try if I had the phone and could get him the necessary files from it. Look in the sprint s3 section under twrp for virgin and boost s3. He is a great dev.
Actually far as I can say there are 2 twrp options. you just have to read more

Read where? Could you be a little more vague?
I am by no means a noob, and when I answer someone, I generally throw in a link.
But thanks for letting me know it exists.
Is it another phones twrp that works? Any hints at all?

Sorry i was on the phone while traveling. I`ve mistaken that it was about the j5 ( like mine device) and for that especially i had tried 2 working options up to now for twrp. but i`m pretty sure you can find tutorials or you can even simply DL the twrp /for example/ 3 install it as an apk and than you if it stuck just would need to DL odin for your PC and than strictly follow the steps / install /unzip odin, connect device , go into DL mode and flash it with the stock ROM which you can find in sammobile /.com i guess/ ?
GL and hit thanks if i helped!

I am working on a unofficial build of of lineage OS for this device. You can see it here. https://forum.xda-developers.com/general/general/lineage-os-samsung-galaxy-j3-t3553175
Moto g5 plus 64g (single SIM),unlocked bootloader, root...4g works fine on stock ROM rooted w/Xposed
. ..and that's great but Ive flashed custom ROMs
Resurrection
...and Halogen
... and Desolation
... and they are very nice ROM s but I only get 3g (no LTE) and the only info I find on this is a quick-fix w/jio SIM using a DUAL SIM. .... Am I the only unlucky human w/a single SIM 3g problem?
I was so excited about this phone, thought I did all of my research , bought TWO 64g g5 plus phones(not 32g no way because I wanted to BEST lol but its single sim, stupid me).
...should I just give up on custom ROMs ? ...or is there something can be done?
Ive being at this for 2 weeks now...Any/all info very appreciated.
I would've posted in other forum but wouldn't let me due to lack of status....or rep...or bling..or something.
Do you have correct APN set? On some custom ROMs I have installed I had to change APN, because it was set to first in the list by default.
I dont know much about APN ...not durecwhst it's suppose to be set at..im boost mobile.. I'll start researching that next ..thanks brother
No luck.
I found the APN settings on Boost mobile site, I set/saved that to no avail.
I went back to stock/rooted and 4g works fine. But no matter which custom ROM I use I still only have 3g.
Surely someone somewhere knows how to set/fix this.
Can a Mod move this to where someone may have hands-on with this 3g vs 4g issue? Dev or someone?
Month later...5 custom roms later...still either no 4g on custom rom or no camera on simple root w magisk. I still can't post in Dev forum.
No LTE

Have the same problem, how did u go back to stock? TWRP restore? or did you fastboot flash stock fireware? I'm not sure if it makes a difference but after reading a few of these it looks like stock firmware may need to be reflashed with fastboot then start flashing custom ROMs with twrp. If you get the answer let me know if i find out I'll let you know?
Thanks
Update: yes there are ROMs that will fix the LTE problem, I was reading someone with a connection problem someone suggested downloading stock debloated , another suggested AOKP, downloaded both , first I tried debloated got LTE , then flashed the other, for VoLTE. Also I'm not sure if this is correct or not but fastboot flashing modems may work I'm not exactly sure and would need to look it up further is something else I read but didn't try as its 2:00am and I'm being yelled at by a hidden speaker in my kitchen which is why it took so long for me to even try to look for a reason because I've been getting yelled at so long I think I got cancer, I hope Santa brings them a tall glass of shut the f up so I get one day without being yelled at , also Lineage 15 says LTE working. I haven't used it since I don't want to mess with 8.0 right now. MeryXMaz
I'm havin the same issue. Also with Boost Mobile. Most other devices I've rooted have had some sort of boost/sprint/virgin APN fix .zip. But I donno....

Thanks for responding. I still haven't found a fix for the LTE. I will try to aokp again maybe something has been fixed or added. I did fix my camera problem by flashing elementalX so that's good. But not having LTE is not cool. And I also did not want to message w 8.0 yet.
So I tried AOKP to no avail. Still no 4g/LTE. That's time I'll never get back lol.
had the same problem XenonHD seems to work well...
I'll try it thanks
Hoping it'll get better with the official 8.0 release.
I've read through most of the different threads and I am really confused about what's possible with my Lenovo Tab 10 X704A version. Ideally I'd like ROOT AND something that will let me use this thing on T-Mobile (it is carrier locked to ATT and ATT has completely abandoned it). Even if I can't get it to work on TMO, improving everything else would be helpful.
It would also be nice to kill off the ATT garbage and have a shiny new ROM as well.
I downloaded the TWRP that's supposed to work with this version but I have no idea what that actually does for me. Maybe I don't need ROOT if a new ROM takes out the junk software.
Anyway, if someone could sort of guide me on what's best here. I don't necessarily need help on how to do stuff, just need guidance on WHAT to do and it what order.
Thanks!
