Hello
I just bought for my girlfriend Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime G530FZ. There is the Ultra Power Save Mode but not the old Power Save Mode. What can I do in this case. It is new and I don't want to root it yet. What application can help me with this case? Are any specific applications that shall I remove from its bloatware?
Best Regards
Akis
Any suggestions? Juice Defender for example or something similar is there any chance to do the same as the power save mode (not the ultra) does?

Hello all,
I got a Nexus 7 3G and want to protect it (better) from theft. There are antitheft apps which can locate the tablet. The problem: If someone steals it he will probably power off the tablet immediately.
What I thought:
The battery can't be removed so the only way to power it off is to use the hard key and press power off.
What I want is to replace the power off option with a fake one (The real power off option should be hidden somehow). If someone uses the normal option a fake power off animation should be displayed and the screen should turn off.
To turn the screen off the code of "Screen Standby Root" can be used. A challenge would be to prevent that the screen turns on if I press the hard keys for a short time. If I press the hard key long a fake power on animation should be displayed.
I am aware that it's still possible to power it off by holding the hard key longer but a "normal" thief would not think about it.
If it's not impossible to do this I would be very happy if there is someone who would consider to code this mod.
I have heard of company's doing something similar to monitor employees. Even if you took the battery out they could still locate your phone with GPS, and if it was off with the battery in, they could activate the camera and look around. Certianaly there's a way to do what you are saying. Pull the AOSP 4.2.2 branch and if you modifiy the framework/base you could probably do it.
Here's another idea, set it where if you try and turn it off, it shuts down only putter system functions, but keeps the core system running.
Sent from my Nexus 4 @1.67 GHz on Stock 4.2.2
The company modified the hardware if they could locate it even without the battery. This is not an option for me.
You made me think about another way to try:
The power off option should be replaced with a reboot option but after the reboot the screen must stay off. I don't know how to do it.
I don't have any experience with AOSP so this will take me much time to figure out..
I have had Samsung phones from the original Samsung Galaxy through the S4. Now I have an S5 and it is a great phone
Except....
On the prior models if I go stuck, I could always long press the power button and restart the phone. The S5 does not appear to support that.
Is there any other way to reset the phone (other than a battery pull). It is a real pain to have to open my Otterbox Defender case.
I tried searching without any luck and hope that I can get some help here.
Thanks in advance.

I bought a Samsung S4 advance (GT-i9506) it was in a sealed box but when I took the phone out and turned it on I found out that it has android lollipop and some Vodafone Australia apps pre-installed, battery is manufactured in late 2015. so do S4 advance (GT-i9506) from Vodafone Australia come with lollipop? do Samsung still makes s4?, is there a way to tell if it's genuine or not? I already tried the "Genuine galaxy" app but it does not seem to recognize it and says it's not genuine although the CPU, RAM, screen resolution and sensors... all are what you expect in a s4 GT-i9506
Try to boot into download mode. Turn the device off. Afterwards hold the volume down + home + power button until it vibrates. This should take you to a screen where it says:
Continue (volume up)
Restart phone (volume down)
Select continue and you should be in download mode.
I don't think fake Samsung phones download mode.

Hi @GDReaper thanks for the reply
I will try to do what you suggested.
by the way I have run the Antutu app and it shows a score around ~48000, the hardware look similar to official specs from Samsung, the only thing that bothers me is that it has android 5.x instead of 4.x and that some of those code like *#???# do not work I don't know if it's related to the model being i9506 which is not as common as the other models.

The antutu score is about right (similar to S5 scores)
My phone, GT-I9505, came with android 4.4.2 pre-installed (touchwiz lollipop wasn't released at that time)
I think retailers update the phones before putting them out for sale. Or maybe that's how Samsung shipped the phone.
And touchwiz roms don't support all of those USC codes.
Hey guys, I really need your help, today I had to wait for my little sister to finish an exam, but because I had like 8 percent of battery life I turned on the Ultra power saving mode on my S7 Edge, I clicked accept then waited for the lock screen to show up, I swiped to unlock my phone with my password and the keyboard doesn't pop up, I keep tapping and trying, restart the phone, tried again, nothing, booted into recovery to wipe cache didn't do anything neither, booting into safe mode was another waste of time, and then I realized I had disabled the samsung keyboard some months ago in order to switch completely to the GBoard keyboard (I thought this may save battery life), I don't remember if I deactivated it normally or through some package disabler. And since the Ultra Power Saving Mode deactivates most apps, it deactivated my GBoard, and since the samsung keyboard was also disabled, it didn't bring the keyboard up, I can't disable the ultra power saving mode because I need to INPUT THE PASSWORD WITH NO KEYBOARD, and fingerprints are also disabled so I'm pretty much locked out, I was wondering if there was anything I could do, like a command to uninstall the package disabler or to activate the keyboard again or if I could install a zip that would do some magic through recovery, because I haven't found anything at all, thank you.
This is the reason I didnt disable Samsung Keyboard.
The only solution I can suggest is using a USB OTG adapter and connect a wired keyboard (most wireless ones will work too, if they use USB receivers), and type your password on the physical keyboard. I think the S7 came with one in the box, but if you dont have one you will most likely find one in most electronic stores (or online if you're willing to wait)
Good luck
Yes I managed to unlock it, I tried to do what you wrote initially, but the ultra power saving mode disabled external usb functions, so I discarded it completely, then thanks to a forum I read where it said that ultra power saving mode usb "lock" could be bypassed if it was connected at boot, and it did work, thank you so much I was about to hard reset it
I tried all the other methods posted in various forums, but none of them worked including connecting a usb keyboard. I use the findmymoblile.samasung.com website to unlock my phone remotely and that finally worked.

Didn't know I could unlock it using the Samsung website.
