Some phones exhibit choppy scrolling, especially when navigating long web pages when multiple apps are running in the background. Rate this thread to express how you smooth scrolling feels on the Note5 under such conditions. A higher rating indicates that scrolling is always buttery smooth.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
With bloatware enabled, many processes creep onto your CPU load and make things worse than usual. Without bloatware, smoothness is a little better, but still choppy and it skips more beats than any phone with such ludicrous hardware should. Many weaker phones perform much better in this regard, which is disappointing. I wish reviews would mention it because as it stands, people have the impression that the Note5 is the smoothest phone out there. It simply isn't, it's smooth when scrolling through stock applications but load up a long Play Store list and other lists with plenty of graphics and then fluidity takes a hit that Samsung shouldn't be proud of. Hopefully further optimization will help here.

I disagree. My Nexus 6 was just as smooth if not smoother than my wife's iPhone 6.
Stuttering on a phone of this caliber is inexcusable. Especially with this being the 5th one.

I sold iphone 6 to buy big screen phone like note 5 i bought it. Its good featured phone no doubt and its fast too. But smooth? No. Scrolling is worse than ever. Like a 1 core phone.

Ah typing is difficult and also laggy in forums.
Btw when 6.0 is expecting to launch
I agree with others there is definite lag in this phone but not all the time. To me its probably Touchwiz even though I have removed it and I am using different launcher its fully built into they system. Sadly I got this phone for Samsung Pay which works great and I wont be rooting this phone which I am quite sure would help.
Too gain more customers Samsung should give you the ability at setup to include or exclude what apps you feel fit. This with the option of an OEm based rom or a Touchwiz based version would also make many such as myself happy
I think note 5 is not ready to sell in market. Ita down side of android. I mean its just a joke. Is that 8 core phone. Shame 2 core and 2 gb iphone is 5 times stronger.
Im not hater. I had s4 s5 all series but they weren't like note 5. Everything lag in scrolling.
Investing big money and we have no right to get it smooth?
Why should we ignore it? I really like camera and display is best in market. But i believe hands on performance is most important. For now im selling 3 days old phone.
Btw im using moto g3 i really liked this phone. Smooth and cheap. Unlike note 5

Well, lot's of android haters in here, that's odd. Anyway, I started with iPhones, went to android for a couple years and had all the flagships, switched to the iPhone 6 Plus last year, and just bought a Note 5. I think the Note is very fast and fluid. Zero complaints here. Then again, I rooted and installed a custom ROM and kernel immediately but still... When I used it in the store it seemed pretty quick. People are a little quick to say Android will never be as fast as iOS. iOS has it's own share of little glitches and hiccups too.
The launcher is fast, the app drawer is fast, apps open fast, camera is fast, fingerprint scanner is fast, this is a fast phone.

Mate, you're completely missing the point here. People are reporting on scrolling smoothness problems with stock Touchwiz, not some custom ROM and kernel. Of course performance can be better in that case. And nobody here is blaming Android. There are perfectly smooth Android phones out there with much less horsepower, which adds to the frustration.

I'm crazy with iPhone 6s scroll speed, acceleration. But I can say with you that iPhone 6s will smoother than Note 5. Just now 6s come with buggy, lagging iOS version. If you stay with 9.0, it is very smooth! After jailbreak, I can speed up animation. Only scroll speed is problem I'm finding out the solution!

But iPhones were never truly always butter without a stutter or bug themselves. As well as for many years iOS has had a large lead over all mobile OS's in app crashes.
I can't take the slow molasses type of scrolling in iPhone safari browser. I need it to be quick like chrome on Android.
Seems little freezes here and there but I think all is do to network and internet connection. Overall on internal looks great..
I agree that scrolling smoothness isn't what it should be. It should be up to par with other android phones. I got it two days ago and im really considering taking it back for the S6 but i really don't know if it'd be any better. Anyone used the s6 to know?

I've had the SGSII for about a week now after moving from a Nexus One running CM7, and wow I am impressed.
I know that in the grand scheme of things it's an incremental upgrade - the main reason I left it a while to move - however the SGII has in my view made a significant leap.
The main thing is that the UI is now as smooth and as refined as the iOS devices. I don't know what Samsung did that nobody else in the Android market has managed, but they've finally managed to make things as smooth as the iPhone.
I finally get that delicious feeling of having the UI elements "stick" to my finger as I move them around, rather than chase behind.
While we all know this is a superficial thing and adds little to the actual functionality, I believe this has finally closed the gap in terms of delight in using the device. I hate to use the sickening Apple term, but surely the average user will find just as much "magic" in using the SGSII as any iOS device.
Web browsing is now super smooth (hardware accelerated?) as are the home screens. Going back to my N1 I really feel the difference.
The SGSII is even more buttery smooth than my Asus Transformer running honeycomb.
Hopefully whatever Samsung have done, whether it be related to the chips in the phone or software tweaks, will be copied by all Android devices, and we can put the nagging sense of UI inferiority behind us (and I know the lack of smoothness bugged you no matter how hard you denied it).
Let's hope Android has put stuttering and lagging behind it forever. Well done Samsung.
P.S.
I haven't used the HTC Sensation so I don't know if they too have achieved this, but this is based on my observations of the hardware at my disposal.
About the same as my view of the phone thats why i find it hard to understand the this is a crap phone posts can i have sense on it is their an IOS4 rom for it etc . A if i thought the phone was crap i would have returned it B if i wanted sense i would have bought sense phone .
But yes with Android customers have choice across a broad range of phones and that is why its winning the sales drive .
Looking forward to more Android improvements as this is only really year two of development .
jje
Dont get your point.
I find the IP4 laggy compared to the SGS2 . The i9100 is by far smoother in my opinion
I haven't used or seen a better smartphone. My sgs2 is borderline biblical!

samsung has hardware accelerated many parts of the UI. the web browser for example is hardware accelerated, as well as a few other places.
this is why i blast google. they should have been using hardware acceleration from day 1 to give the same smooth UI experience as the iphone. the SGS2 is not doing anything special, its not the dual core making it so smooth. its simply because samsung took the time to optimize the SGS2 with graphics chip, rather than putting the burden on the CPU 100% of the time.
the nexus one would be just as smooth. look at WP7 devices. they all use the same hardware as the n1, but use hardware acceleration and proper drivers, and are the smoothest devices in the world right now.
Well that was my point - How come it's taken so long, and a few generations of Android devices for this to be done? I honestly didn't think it was possible for an Android 2.3 device to be so smooth, I thought there was something fundamental in the architecture that was going to always mean a little lag.
I'd given up any of this generation of Android phones achieving true smooth motion, and here Samsung have done it without this development even being publicised that much.
I totally agree Android should have been like this - it just blows my mind that it's taken so long, and I can see no excuse for any top tier device from any other manufacturer not to match what Samsung have done.
Also, if it is just a case of tuning the software, why haven't/didn't Samsung do it with the SGS I ?
The "this is a crap phone" posts probably mostly come from people who don't own this. ...I know that might sound a little odd but trust me, even in Android communities there are fan-boys, and some actually go that far...

Its hard to understand why people love this device soo much unless you actually ownit. This phone seems to give the feeling that android should have been this fluid from the beginning. There is no device (including the sensation) that operates as smoothly as the sgs2. I love this phone.

GS3! Wow...the rumours, are TOO GOOD. Anything Apple pull out of the bag, even next year would simple pale in comparison to the GS3.
Posts like these makes me anxious to get mine. Still waiting on UPS!
If Samsung did some hardware/driver acceleration magic, I wonder if CM7 and the other AOSP ROM project will be able to take advantage of this as well. I don't want the stock ROM to be the only super smooth and slick ROM available.

it hasnt taken too long. the original galaxy s also had hardware acceleration in the browser for example. only the international version, but it was lightening fast and smooth as butter. it only is because samsung took the initiative and did a custom job. google certainly hasnt implemented it yet, and in ice cream sandwich they claim it will come.
i'm right there with you, manufacturers should have been pushing for a UI experience that matches apple's.
since the op is sharing thoughts about the device, i'll share mine too. i FINALLY received it in the mail today. opened the box, the device is bigger than it looks in the online review (coming from a nexus s 4g). the thin factor is impressive, but not as impressive as i was expecting. the smoothness is there as expected, but the "S" boot image is freakishly laggy--no big deal.
camera-really good
screen-what can i say? super amoled plus looks great,
hardware finish/quality-pretty good...but i prefer the smooth back over the textured back--no big deal
touchwiz 4.0-hmm, this is tough, i need to play with it some more. samsung obviously put a lot to this UI, but so far it doesnt seem as refined as other skins...for example, the default lock screen is kind of laggy, and is a pain sometimes to fully move the lockscreen so that it unlocks. numerical battery percentage would be nice without having to go into settings...other than these minor gripes, i love the touchwiz widgets.
obviously samsung has really tried to outdo itself and competitors, and the sgs II is perhaps the best android phone out there. but as of right now, it doesn't really give me that "wow" factor despite all its features. but i've only had it for one day and haven't gotten to test out the dual core, dlna, and other features.
Not trying to start a troll thread, but I'm honestly disappointed in this tablet. I was hoping for a true "ipad like" experience in terms of smoothness, and user interface but it's just not there. I've rooted the tab, loaded both touchwiz and bonsai roms, loaded the OC kernal, and nothing makes it smooth. there's lag in the home screen scrolling, there's lag in the typing, there's weird app lag, it really sucks. I hate iOS with a passion, but really covet the user interface. My Galaxy S II is very close, so close that I think it's the perfect phone, and samsung really nailed it.
It's just really annoying that i'm going to have to sell this tablet and go back to using a laptop... I had such high hopes.

Ehh. I have some dis likes but i still pick it up everday. I cant say the same for my ipad 1 i sold a few months back
I agree 110% about the software, hardware is nice though.
I think its completely ridiculous that google and devs cant make all simple menus scroll smoothly. Its one of the pathetic aspects of honeycomb and android in general. The typing lag when using a web browser is completely unacceptable IMO, again they cant figure out how to input SIMPLE text onto a form without the tablet getting bogged down to the pint of serious lag JUST to type letters? Its mind bogglingly inexcusable. My home screens scroll pretty smoothly as long as I dont put any buggy widgets on.
In the same boat kinda. Love my SGS2, it's a freaking beast chipset and screen. The tab 10.1 on the other hand... is just another Tegra2 device and unfortunately Tegra2 sucks balls in phones and tablets. I'm not gonna go so far to blame the hardware for all the issues since iOS can be smooth on a single core (iPad 1) so google definitely has some fault here. Google had the chance to come as close as they could as a closed garden with their tablets since they all ran vanilla honeycomb and all ran the Tegra2 chipset but they still missed... so sad.
If the next quadcore tablets with ice cream sandwich aren't amazing (and smooth for once) I think they've lost the tablet war.

Love the tab, I don't see this lag, etc. IOS may be smooth, but so is the android app draw...which is pretty much what the homescreens are on the iPad. Yea honeycomb as a few bugs to iron out, but it is relatively young.
I read somewhere that the ipad2 has a better GPU, so the reason it's smoother is because of the hardware.

Wrong. Ipad 1 has a GPU 3 times slower than tegra 2 and it scrolls all menus liquid smoothly. It has nothing to do with the hardware to make simple scrolling smooth, the issue is with honeycomb and android in general.
I think is has to do with hardware acceleration. ios and WP7 both have hardware acceleration that's better than what we have. Does Android even have Hardware Acceleration?

Same here. I haven't experienced any lag when flipping between screens, app drawer, switching apps etc.
The only really glaring issues I've seen have been with the stock web browser and its problems with javascript heavy web pages and text fields. While Opera and Dolphin are good alternatives to use to avoid those problems I do like the stock browser the best.
After being on this forum for some time now, it seems like the majority of issues people have are either self inflicted, a case of not having/using the right app or from refusing to use a known work around.
I can say I have no issues with any of the screens lagging when I scroll through them. I find it is much smoother than any android phone I have used.
The problem is not the hardware and I dont think the software is that bad. It has ALOT of feature IOS does not have and WAY more capability.
I think the real problem is a lot of people are finding it hard to find uses for the tablet. There isnt a plethora of apps designed specifically for android like their is for ipad. Also I think a lot of people are finding that they spent $500 on something that their phones pretty much already do. So they try and justify their guilt in spending that money by coming up with ridiculous reasons "
why" the product sucks. i think alot of people got it on an impulse buy because it is the new shiny toy on the market.
I for one love my tablet. I use it all day at work and is perfect for travel. Im excited for the new update and all the new features that will come with it.
I agree that the Honeycomb is not perfect and it'll probably be another year before Android tables catch up to the iPad. However that said I like the tweaking that can be done on Honeycomb where iOS is just boring.

I have to admit this is googles fault for rushing honeycomb just to compete with the IPad. I'll be waiting for the ice cream sandwich update and hopefully that will unify the Android OS like google wants to do and fix some of their problems and get tablets fixed because my patience is running thin.

Not true at all. Smoothness of iOS is a direct reflection of the closed locked down environment that is iOS. 'It just works' because the restrictions apple has placed on its operating system. Android on the other hand is open source and not locked down to this degree. Its a more powerful, flexible system which comes at a cost. That would be hardware. Android devices need better specs to maintain the smoothness of iOS. Both of these approaches have merit in their own right. For the record, I still think iOS is super boring.

I have owned and tested for the last 10 months these tablets: IPAD, IPAD2, Viewsonic, Motorola, Acer Iconia (nice) and since a week the Galaxy tab which I will keep. I installed the latest Bonsai ROM and I love it. Smooth, can overclock to 1.4GHz. Sure it lacks connectivity, but nothing is perfect. Honeycomb will become better. I rooted the IPAD2. What a joke: The unofficial apps are baby stuff. I paid for my Galaxy tab $393 and know at least there will be new roms in the future. IPAD2 $525 for a locked system, no thanks.
But it all comes down to personal preferences.
Not sure if
I'll get the galaxy tab but I consider it strongly.had the 7 inch galaxy tab and thought it was well build and the screen quality was very good. As I am in germany I can't test the build quality of the tab and if I read threads like this then I reconsider to buy this tab. Is it really that crappy the tab without comparison to the ipad 2.

Same here.. I didnt bother trying to "fix" the tablet though. I just took it back after 3 days. The Honeycomb user experience is not ready for primetime.. too laggy and too buggy.
I've never owned an electronic device of any medium that makes me so bipolar. My previous phone which I still have is a cracked Nexus 5 which compelled me to go and get the AT&T Note 5.
On one hand I absolutely LOVE the hardware. It is the most premium feeling handset I've owned by a large margin. The display is by far the most beautiful of any medium. The audio quality from the aux is leagues better than the Nexus 5. The camera crushes the Nexus 5. No more do I have to make sure the camera is focused. It's an amazing point and shoot camera. It's sleek, beautiful and stunning.
And then we are left with the software... WTF Samsung. Apparently this beast is running the fastest mobile SOC currently on the planet along with 4 gigs of RAM, yet for some reason my Nexus 5 hardly ever dips below 60 fps with animations and scrolling while the Note 5 lags like hell. I don't know how much I can attribute this to a higher resolution display, but it's pretty pathetic how a two year old device is smoother than the alleged current king of mobile processing. Hangouts is almost unbearable on this device. Yes, I know the new hangouts has lag however it wasn't nearly this bad on the Nexus. The only area hangouts lagged on the Nexus was group messaging when scrolling up and down the message chain. Chrome lags during scrolling and no it didn't lag on the Nexus. Play Music lags. I installed Google Now launcher because I like the easy accessibility to Google Now and the LAUNCHER LAGS!! I've hadn't experienced a launcher lagging since I owned an HTC Thunderbolt. So many changes to the UI for just the sake of change. I open the app drawer for the first time and almost fainted. WTF are 80% of these apps? I also miss Google's dialer. I really do miss searching for businesses in the dialer. Then there are the subjective elements that I can't stand. The icons are absolutely disgusting. The lock screen font is disgusting. The notification bar is a mess and isn't nearly as clean as stock android. Why the F do I need an NFC icon? Then I'm caught in another dilemma when I attempt to use the material dark theme and the DEVICE LAGS EVEN MORE!?!?!
Man how much I wish Google still had the Google Play edition program because the marriage between stock android with the Note 5 would be heaven. Why couldn't Samsung just keep the stock UI but kept the added features such as S-pen? I really want to keep this device. I really love holding it and consuming media with it, but man navigating through this device is just a mess.

Well, for one thing, I didn't get to finish my sentence. So that was kind of rude. What I was going to say, was some people have disabled and removed bloatware through package disabler pro. I never had any issues with lag before. But I disabled 181 apps and packages and my phone zings along. Android is about customization. I'm sorry you feel you were killed or short changed but I have experienced nothing but great stuff from the Note 5. I get 9-10 hrs of SOT and 20-25 hrs of great use. I have done my research and landed on this phone and couldn't be happier. I'd be happy to help you overcome the so called faults you've found and/or fix them. Well, let's chalk that up to basic miscommunication. There was no way of me knowing that you were abruptly cut short. I'll see how much magic disabling all the bloat can do though. Hopefully it can solve most of my issues.
Just to be clear. Launching apps isn't the problem. Launching apps is considerably faster on the Note 5 than the Nexus 5 by a solid margin. It's the scrolling and animations that lag.
If you want a list of the ones I did. I can provide it. But I suggest taking the time to learn what each package is responsible for so you can truly tailor the device to your liking. I got a phone call and hit submit instead of answer when the little phone window appeared.
I compare the Note 5 to a new toaster. You know it's general premise and capabilities. But it is set to default or zero when its out of the box. It's up to the user to learn or test which setting is what to generate an optimal performance every time. While our society has grown to where we expect our devices to make us toast out of the box, it is still a device and has the tendency to require our input.

Well, for one thing, I didn't get to finish my sentence. So that was kind of rude. What I was going to say, was some people have disabled and removed bloatware through package disabler pro. I never had any issues with lag before. But I disabled 181 apps and packages and my phone zings along. Android is about customization. I gotta call bs with 9-10 hrs of SOT unless you really uc the processor have brightness at the min and play zero games.
Fantastic device. User of Note 1 thru 4, i cannot go back to Note 4. Very smooth experience, battery life is way beyond my Note 4 can sustain, and I have not even debloated (not even going to think about it now).
I tend to agree with your post. Scrolling is not as smooth as on my OnePlus One. Even after turning off a lot of background processes.
I feel the exact same way. I love this device, it may be the best android device I have ever used but idk if I can get with this battery life. Coming from a iPhone 6 Plus where I never had to worry about battery life and coming to the Note 5 where I seem to always have to consider my battery life. Yeah I know it has quick charging but that is besides the point. We will see if it gets better or if Samsung rolls out an update to tweak some things (Maybe in the year 2016) but as of right now, I'm paying close attention to my 14-day return period.
Well if you dont like the Note 5 then return it. I've came from a OnePlus One and I am very happy with the phones performance and battery life!
Comparing an iPhone to a note 5 is hardly a fair comparison... the iPhone is like a butter knife, it looks nice and does what it does weĺl... but thats it. The note 5 on the other hand is a swiss army knife of phones.... it does everything and can be tweaked, improved and customised.
If you arent happy thats a shame, enjoy your iPhone.

I also come from a OP1. Although I generally love the phone, for being such a powerhouse, the scrolling behaviour is a bit disappointing. I just held both phones, opening the same apps and somehow I feel the OP is smoother at times. Odd...
They pushed this out at least a month early. and this and the s6 are a brand new hardware platform, not your note 3 era nexus 5 hardware.

Your wrong. I had 4 hours sot @ 46% left and l full brightness too
I agree the Note is fast no doubt, and can open apps faster than my Nexus 6, however over all experience is that the Nexus 6 is smoother with less hiccup. I too wish GPE wasn't dead, but it is and I see no signs of a resurrection. Even the supposed Android silver seems like a pipe dream now. In the end I am happy with Note 5 and will use my JoD for the Huaweii(spell check) nexus
If you have anything like lastpass using accessibility, turn it off and see if the scrolling turns out to work better.

Must not do anything intensive on your phone at all than, sounds very boring.
Would you say that the Note5 is "fast" in day-to-day use? A higher rating indicates that you think the Note5 exhibits fantastic performance.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
In my opinion, the Note5 generally feels fast, but we all know that the phone has problem holding apps in RAM, scrolling can be choppy at times, and the keyboard has trouble keeping up. But that's like 10% of the time. The other 90% of the time, there pretty much a 1:1 level of responsiveness without the phone feeling like it's falling behind. However, I used a Galaxy S6 (that had 5.0.2) and it started getting quite slow after just a few weeks of use. I haven't experienced that yet with the Note5, but I'll report back if I do!
Super fast and fluid, best Android phone ever used since my first one 5 years ago
The phone is very fast! There have been instances with 1 or 2 hiccups, but I don't expect ANY device to operate flawlessly. Even the most expensive desktop, I wouldn't be upset if it had a hiccup once in a while.
I've stuck with pretty much stock everything. I would normally install Google's Keyboard and Nova or Action Launcher. Those are my first installs. I did install them, but found myself wanting to stay stock, so I did. Only thing that is "custom" is the Material theme I installed via Samsung's theme store.
I've had the phone for a week now. Very fast performance however there is the occasional scroll lag.
Upgraded from an S3 on slimkat so quite a noticeable bump.
Battery life for me has been great, about 7 hours SOT over 24 hours.

Coming from the g4 the note 5 is a very fast and snappy phone, and the apps being killed aggressively hasn't bothered me
Generally really fast and smooth. Did notice a stutter here and there but so did my Nexus 6. Anyone that claims there arent any stuttering on any phone (including the stuff that fruit makes), is either lying or disregarded it. Battery life has been great. 8am to 12 midnight with like 15% and not charged at all during the day.
upgraded from iphone 6 plus. note 5 is really fast and snappy when compared to iphone.there are some occasional stuttering and subtle scroll lag. but hey iphone also had them too..

I have my Note 5 about 2 months. I think the Note 5 has smoother operation than the Samsung phones before, and it also has fast responding speed. It quite comfortable to use. I found no disadvantage so far. Hope it can be durable.
Snappy all the time. I don't like the keyboard and so switched to SwiftKey which is awesome as it has got a compact mode best suited for phablet.

In everyday use, almost flawless. Only time it ever lags is once a day or so, in the lock screen, it freezes before turning on. Not big an issue.
In benchmarks, it still smokes the competition. And it has no throttling issues whatsoever. Did a test to see how CPU throttling was: ran several consecutive Geekbench runs. Room temp, air con on, N920I running AOJD 5.1.1.
What about the stutter in facebook when checking the comments and likes? is that app compatibility issue?
You can check this video to check the issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rh4D0wJ0l8s&feature=youtu.be

moded swiftkey??
Note 5 is fastest phone ever made, it the only one that can run PPSSPP emulator and play tekken 6 at 60fps!!!, g4 choked on 30fps and felt choppy, Note 5 is a dream.
Absolutely snappy, no lags whatsoever!! I've been using it for 2 weeks now and coming from a note II, (which is still good on all levels after 3 years of usage, even the battery, the one that came with it, still holds one full day) there is a great bump and makes me confident that the note 5 will last for years to come. Way to go Sammy!
Im galaxy S series users i used almost all S series devices, but after using note 5 tha phone is ama, , its work like Charm, my rating about oveall speed is 9/10... N thanks for this note 5 forum....
when on stock firmware no modification. fast at first but will show some jitters the longer you will use it. i rooted mine used custom rom debloated with custom kernel. there on performace is awesome. looking forward for more custom rom for n9208 though...
super fast and smooth
I've had mine for two months. Still flies. For those of you that say it slows down after a while, just clean up after yourselves and you won't have that problem.
I've always been a huge fan of Android. I remember getting my first HTC Desire many years ago - the things you could do was unbelievable at that time.
Many years have passed and the technology has advanced greatly since then, however one thing that keeps bugging me is how Android still are performing - especially with third party developers like Samsung.
I've been using a iPhone 6s for some time and decided it was time to return to Android. I spent a lot of time researching which phone to chose, and to my surprise, everyone was prasing the s7 edge like it was the next big thing since the wheel.
So... I get one of them and the first thing I notice is how completely laggy the entire phone is. How can a phone with so crazy hardware have such a laggy interface - and how come no one has spoken about this in any reviews? Is it just normal Android behavior - or do you get blind to this when using it for years? I don't get it - and I really regret buying this phone because of this.
Scrolling stutters, typing to fast in chrome while it is loading makes the keyboard freeze for a moment and I don't enjoy the experience. I turned in my nexus 5 and even though it was way more fluent than the s7 in the interface, it has the same underlying stutter/lagg problems but on a way lesser scale.
Usually I'm really pro android - but anyone saying this **** is fluid and fast are lying to themselves or in denial. Try using an iPhone for once - I know it's like comparing Apple and oranges - but it's without a doubt a way better experience, the touch feels like it's moving at the same speed as the finger and best of all. I think we need some kind of nanotechnology to get even close to that experience on Android
Why are you flashing custom roms on xda if it wasn't for the hope of getting a super-fast rom with great battery and no lagg? And am I overreacting? Why aren't everyday Android users bugged by this?
Hmm actually the S7 edge is the first Android phone where I really won't bother to flash anything just to make it faster. I have absolutely no problems with fluidness...
Are you using the SD or Exynos one?

With 2k resolution and many bloatware of U.S network. You can see slow because android no long animation and no wait loaded and touch like ios, fhd resolution of ios. With android 7 and FHD, s7 edge will very smooth.
You got a duff one by the sounds of it. You answer your own question really, nobody in reviews etc. is talking about your issues because, they are your issues.
Have the Exnyos model here on the EE network and I don't get any of the issues regarding speed and fluidity etc.

Meh I feel with the power the S7 Edge has you would expect much higher fluidity in this day and age of phone technology. My old iPhone 4s was smooth as butter. In comparison Samsung has always felt like butter but with crumbs in it. Don't get me wrong I LOVE my S7 Edge but it could be better...

As a s7 edge owner, I have no idea what are you talking about.
my s7 edge is 4 months old and working great
never rooted/ flashed another version
never downloaded cleanmaster apk, taskmanager ect.. never used it
my phone has been working great 4 months so far. Interface is smooth....
everything is smooth
you right- no need to root and mess up with your phone in order to make it work
Take your phone back to the store . try a factory reset under settings maybe it will help.
plus remember android 7 / 7.1.1 will be coming this month. As i checked on youtube and changeloge, there are tons of new features.
the update may solve the problem as well but i would not wait for that
good luck!
Clean master îs a wonderful app.
S7 Edge Smart Manager is powered by clean master so no need to blame this app.
tried many diffrent roms for the samsung s7 (flat) currently on Nougat 7 beta
All Roms i've tried are smooth and i never experienced lag or stutter on any of them.
I think you have bad software or broken phone.
Try a factory reset, or return to the Samsung store and explain the issue.
Post and run, not sure if this is a wind-up
Funny thing is I had the iPhone 7+ before coming back to Sammy, and I find this phone more stable than the iPhone. iOS10 was a big disappointment and I had a lot of hiccups on the iPhone 7+.
Can't wait to see what the S8 looks like too!
I have an ipad air 2 it's slowly to if you install to many apps. My problem with Samsung I can't delete debloat all the crapp what come with the phone without root. And most things are useless in my eyes. I switched from i9300 slimrom and than cm roms . The firmware should be small and fast. My slomrom was 200mbyte now I have to download 1.5gbyte . I don't want know comes in 10years properly 10gigabyte firmwares.
I have had my S7 since release day and i am a heavy user of my phone with way too many apps installed (120+) and yet i have no lag at all. I can type as fast as i want, scrolling your long post had no stutter or lag, and thats with a ton of background apps and a pop up video running! All i will say is my phone is a little warm. I am no fan of Apple so i cant compare but my nephew has switched from being an Apple user his whole life to the S7 and he is happy. There are missing features yes but performance wise he says he cant tell any difference so i take him on his word about that. I would consider if a) you have a dud or b) you have a fake. Either way, get it checked out because like the others say, you cant be right and everyone else be wrong!
sessingo is not wrong.... I've used since two month an Asus Zenfone 3 ZE552KL and, despite the device is loaded full of bloatware, the user experience is far better than with my S7 Edge. So, for me, the user experience on Android can be very good (my Asus for example) with no stutter, no lags, very snappy, even if the hardware is mid-range. It's like night and day between the two devices !!!
Sure the feeling on an Iphone is great, compared to the S7 and Edge. And I'm a big fan of Android and Samsung since the Galaxy S2...

I've very recently changed from my old iPhone 6 Plus to the S7 Edge and I know exactly what you mean. The 6 Plus was my first iPhone having had many Android devices prior to that. Although the S7 Edge is lightning quick, and opening and closing apps etc is super-fast, it has a 'twitch' to it, particularly when scrolling. Also, exactly as you describe, when moving your thumb slowly up and down you feel out-of-sync with the screen. I noticed it immediately, and then even got out my old iPhone to compare just in case I was imagining it. I wasn't. They behave very differently. Its amazing what you get used to. It doesn't feel as polished an experience I'm afraid.
There's lots of comments asking 'how can your phone be laggy? Mine's super-fast' - well I think there's a misunderstanding about what we're describing. For me, it's not that the phone isn't fast, it is. Very. It's about how it feels to interact with. It just feels 'twitchy' and not totally in sync with my gestures. I do get the odd weird freeze on many apps. I wouldn't call it lag but just a short millisecond pause that you're not expecting that throws what you're doing out of kilter. It's nothing to do with power. Just the architecture I think. We probably wouldn't notice these things if we hadn't switched from one platform to the other. I'm don't really want to get into the 'which is best' nonsense. I do slightly regret changing but the Apple handsets were boring, physically - design wise - and the S7 Edge is a beautiful looking phone. I'd underetimated how much I'd miss certain things though.
