Welcome Samsung Galaxy Note 5 owners in the Philippines,
come and share your thoughts and reviews about the device here. :good:

i'm not in the P.I., but I'm really liking my N5d.
off-topic: why is the PI a market for dual-SIM phones?
(Sent from another Galaxy via Tapatalk)

Probably because it's so easy to get prepaid sim cards of different carriers =/ I myself bought one for about a dollar.

Because carriers here typically have very cheap offers for unlimited calling and texting to subscribers of the same network while its relatively more expensive to make calls (and text to some extent though this isnt the case so much anymore with texting) to subscribers outside the network. (and there are basically two carriers only competing)

I noticed that Smart sells an S6 duos in which both SIM slots are locked to Smart. seems odd for anyone to have two SIMs from the same network carrier.
by the way, if you've experienced using the S6/edge, then the N5 (and possibly S6e+) will virtually feel the same in processing. but if you're doing some more heavy multitasking, then you may feel the difference the extra 1GB RAM of the N5 offers. the screen real estate is always appreciated, but handling of the overall phone might be a thing people actually consider more and so they may go for the physically smaller handset. I mean, there are actual iPhoners who think the iPhone 6 screen is too big, and miss the smaller screens.

Hi, I thinking of buying the dual sim version. Can you receive calls on both numbers? I assume you have to specify which sim is used for data. Thanks in advance.

for Calls, there's the option to select either SIM or both. but I don't seem to be able to dedicate any one SIM - they both just work anyway (as long as I have service).
for SMS & MMS you only have the option to select either/or.
for Data, one SIM is dedicated to 4G/3G/2G while the other SIM is limited to 2G. or you can just turn data for both SIMs off while talk and sms & mms are still in service.
when you're making a call, you have two call buttons - one for either SIM.

make sure, first, that it will support the bands you need for the network you plan to use it on.

Preordered the Note 5 here in PH, haven't claimed it yet though.
http://www.samsung.com/ph/galaxy/note5/pre-order/
Just learned that no 64GB available here and 32GB without SD Card for expansion is a serious drawback.
I can live with no IR and no removable battery but lack of SD Card, with all that 4K video recording and all, is really a tough pill to swallow.
Just my two cents.

especially if you use the Cinema 4K app...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.frozenvolcano.android.cinema4k
the native app records 4K @ 48 Mbps. Camera Mod (for S6/e) bumps it up to 70 Mbps. well, Cinema 4K amazingly raises the bar to 200 Mbps.
here's a sample from someone that's popular in the M43/Blackmagic community...
https://youtu.be/1fzrLChc_48
he used a different handset, but I've tested be Trial version on both my S6e and N5d with no issues, even with the Flat profile (for colour grading).

Haven't tried that one yet. Looks awesome. Thanks for the heads up.
That confirms I need at least 64GB for GN5, too bad.

I have friend living here and I want to buy the dual sim version, just want to ask how much for the Note 5 32GB dual sim. Thank you

Anyone tried rooting the N9208? There's a chinese site that has instructions of rooting it. Are there differences between the OS of TW and PH N9208? I'm afraid that if I followed the chinese instructions, I'd end up with a TW language device.

Hi i just had my note 5 for about a week or so... its the dual version issued by globe philippines... i didnt notice anything wrong with the phone until i tried making calls. 1 out 10 tries pushed through.... so my first thought was to reboot my phone to fix it unfortunately it didnt. Then a text came through feom my friends tling me that they have been trying to call me and all they get is that im out of coverage when I'm just at home. By the way im connected to Lte when this happebed. So I tried to look for another way thought of changing the mobile network to 3g/2g. Calls started pouring in and out. It was fixed. But when I switch it again to LTE same thing happens all over again. Has anyone have the same problem?

Globe LTE doesn't support voice with data unlike with other carriers outside our country with VoLTE

Yeah. It's called buying another identical phone and taping them side by side.
*end sarcasm mode*
No, its limited by the chipset.
there are 2 in 1 sim adapters you can buy on ebay that will allow 2 sims for one slot. however there are many "versions" and some work some dont, its very hit and miss unless you know sim tech.. the one thats 40$ over the 3$ one with the newer version number is usually the one to go with..
but also know NOTHING about htc devices.

they're are Chines phones with this built in. there is one on youtube that i saw when i was browsing phones.. dual SIM capability and a 1.5GHZ dual core processor perfect replica of the Iphone4 but running android 2.3 G.B. i think it had about 572 MB of RAM but w.e.
either way i have seen it before and i know it is possible
. but i for sure think there is no way in hell you can mod your cell to do it...

I found a German website advertising a dual sim android phone. So yes, they do exist. I'm however not sure if Cyanogenmod could support such a phone.
i dont have any idea
I have no idea why dual sim phones aren't yet available in Europe. It is the ultimate solution for anyone who needs to use a work phone. In the times of dumb phones it was no bother to carry two but now when we all have our smart special one people are really struggling. Is there any normal (non-developer) user who is simultaneously using two smartphones? I don't think so.
It is very common in China, they call it "Dual (sim)cards, Dual Standby"...
nope at least not with a stock android phone, why would you want to ? i doubt any manufacturer would make that anyway, impractical feature for most people especially as most phones come locked to one network and are intended to stay that way, they wouldnt see a need for consumers to have two of the same network sims

they would, i should think... think of it this way: they give you two sim cards and you pay for two simcards. all they want is the money, and you using two sims will get them more.

I guess you need to buy a dual sim card phone from china or one of the known brands
Well there's the new Galaxy Y Duos, though i don't think how android would work with 2 SIMs
Although, i used to switch SIMs when i need mobile internet by:
Turn on flight mode >> open phone >> Switch SIMS (depends on your phone design) >> Close >> Turn off flight mode.
worked on a galaxy i9003 & HTC desire S no need to even shut it down.
From memory a lot of ZTE and Huawaei phones do tend to be dual sim. I think there's a few triple sim ones as well.
Seems to be a super popular feature on asian markets for some reason. Exactly why, not sure.

dual sim card sounds interesting, I'd have no need for it though. lol deftone
If it has the same specs as the Note II this will be a dual sim 3G world phone. Are there any other Android dual sim 3G world phones out there?
I wouldn't have a need for one but I guess it could come in handy if i wanted to put a prepaid sim in it.

Maybe, look on Google for ROMs for a regular device with a dual-sim variant. For example, the Galaxy Pocket and the Pocket Duos. They have the same specs just like the Note 2 and the Note 2 Duos do so look to see if anybody has flashed a Pocket ROM on their Pocket Duos. If they did, then I guess it would work.I think you can probably find it in a couple of days. Or you could order from China Mobile, the carrier with the device, and have it ship to you.

Dual SIM Note 2 would be awesome for a backpacking holiday. Local SIM as primary, with home SIM as secondary with its super expensive roaming charges. Each time you change country just swap out the primary.
I wasn't sure about Note 2 vs Note 1 but with 64GB internal, 64GB SD, dual SIM and Seidio case with kick stand and holster it will be an iresistable killer combo
Adding decent GPS App with locally stored maps and an external range boosting antenna would make it the ultimate travel phone

Sounds Good!
does anyone know what dual sim entails? can you have 1 sim for mobile broadband (with telco provider a) and 1 sim for minutes, SMS (with a separate telco provider b)?
both reading at the same time. the note 2 knows which one to use and when? so you don't clock up data on the wrong sim, and calls and SMS on the other?
thanks
The "classical" Samsung DuoS phones (at least mine and others I had in hand) let you choose a primary card that is used for everything by default and a special button that allows you to choose the secondary SIM card before making a call or sending sms. Web connection and other services always run from the primary card. Changing the assignment of the primary card causes a reboot.
Both networks are actively receiving calls/sms.
How this one is (or would be) done is hard to tell, not many people had it in hand (if it really exists). Unfortunately, probably not many people ever will.
Personally, I need two networks, so I carry a "phablet" without SIM plus classical DualSIM phone. DuoS Note would be cool.

Guys, where do you bought it??
And if I buy from site as Ebay, why do these people always response late and is there a chance I get scammed?
Hey, u live in Germany, thats NEXT TO Holland, wanna sell it to me?
I just send one to (Germany Munich) works great on O2 and Tmobile DE
Its the time difference you guys are 7 hours ahead of us.
People tend to answer around 5-9pm US time which is after midnight ur time.
I been having great success getting them on ebay and Local craigslist.
Local so u can see the phone.
Ebay you have a buyer protection plan.
Though keep in mind it may take almost 1 month to arrive depending on shipping method and retarded customs.
Razr i or Razr M are ur choices.
Razr M 200-300 USD will cost you 175-250 EUro
Razr i is 300-500 Euro
So do your math what u want to do. It is a locked bootloader though on the M VZ the i Will be unlocked
Now the Galaxy S2 (i777) version is the one I bought for my GF sister.
Its a great phone but slower than the M. The Razr M also feels alot more premium compared to the cheap plastic feel.
I had both to play with, but the S2 has alot more custom rom stuff to play with.
You are able to damage the LCD of the S2 alot easier.
S2 has the ability to access the Battery the M does not.
The S2 chrome ring is prone to chip. The rear door feels flimsy
Oh and the S2 takes normal Mini Sim where the M takes Micro Sim.

Whats a local craigslist? [sorry my english is bad]
And is a micro sim more smaller than a mini sim [which iphone 4 uses]??
So, I have to cut my sim?
But is it really necessary to put that much efford just to buy a phone?
My last option would be the Galaxy s2 then

In the US Australia and Some European Country.
There is something like a Local Posting called Craigslist, you can buy and sell stuff, like a garage sale online.
(Free for most parts) And since it's local you have to meet them up and buy it form them like at a garage sale.
Just make sure you have some one else with you and meet up at a save secure location and its fine.
Mini-Sim is what normal phones tend to use, which the Galaxy S2 uses.
Micro-Sim is the size like the iPhone 4 and 4S
Nano-Sim is what the iPhone 5 uses
-You have to either cut a mini sim to Micro but it wont work unless u good/precise at cutting since
it has to be perfect else the Click mechanism won't work. Or just get a 5-7 dollar Sim card clipper (Like a hole puncher) make sure its Mini to Micro (not Mini to Nano
No its not much efford, I am with T-Mobile they just give me a Micro sim for free since i am already a customer.
T-Mobile also has Nano Sims if i wanted to go with an iPhone 5 (No cutting just go store and ask)
O2 also has Mini Micro and Nano Sim but they charge 5 Dollars to swap you over unless something happened to ur Sim (Damaged)
Hardware wise i did not like the S2 especially the wierd US veriations.
I do like the i777 which is an US variation by AT&T but it is the closest to International S2 with out the Physical button.
Software wise that phone has tons of support hardware wise its basic.
Hope that helps.
These are the screens shots of XT907 in Germany on O2 using OEM Verizon Rom (No Modified Aussie Radio)
She gets Edge(2G) and HSPA(3.5G) sometimes 3G(3G)Roaming
Though her current area has a lot of interference with electronics.
So in Germany/Europe this phone can run pretty much at is Max on stock ROM, except no 4G and LTE since Europe use 3.5G i believe.

Anything can be done, its all-ways about the money. If you deal with Euro then getting one over to you should be easy.
But if you use Lira or similar currency it may be expensive due to up-conversion.
These phones aren't quite cheap, sure... not as expensive as the stinken GoldBar of an iPhone but not as cheap so u can get one ever week.
I am about send an i777 S2 to my gf next week which is for her sister.

Razr M not working in India (yet)
Hi, so I got my Razr M delivered today here in India. But when I put in my local Vodafone GSM, it showed me a message saying "Your SIM card is from an unknown source." I pressed OK, but it shows the emergency calls only symbol. I tried changing the network mode from CDMA to GSM/UMTS. Didnt work. Then I manually searched for available networks, and tried connecting to them. But everytime I got the same message: "Your SIM card doesn't allow connection to this network".
Any ideas on what could be the problem?

Did you find the solution?
Make sure you fresh ICS or JB firmware loaded.
And that it is not a modded Firmware.
Start with that. If that will not work you have 2 choices.
VZ Firmware with Aus Radio
VZ Firmware with 01 mod
Unless India is on the black list of the phone also which it should not be, u shouldn't have a problem.
My old boss just went back to Dubai with his and had no issues using his phone with local Sims.
Yeah it happens . I will soon post a list of things i have tried , this has something to do with actiavtion of verizon phones in the US and then using it abroad

Just got the S5 Mini Dual Sim in Las Vegas.
working with t mobile and Walmart Mobile as 2nd sim
Did you buy it in Vegas or order an international model?
Got mine yesterday. Impressive little rascal this one. So fast and fluid, no lags. Great size for one hand use and vert pocketable. Exellent screen and so is the camera. Came from an S5 and my first impression is that this one is just as quick in daily usage despite lower specs

Yea, trying to find where to get it in the states, would prefer to get LTE and 4G with it. One irritation with Samsung, other than their flagship devices they take forever to hit the states with anything
Was looking at the new Alpha phone but I'm sure it'll take forever to hit here too, though no sdcard slot might be the deal breaker for me.

This new galaxy mini has fm chip radio?
The phone has no radio.
It does not have USB OTG support, also.
Hi does the g800f has notification led? If yes is it multie color or just one color?
And has anyone tryed wanam xposed with it? Does it work? And how is the batterylife compared to s4 mini? Is it worth the upgrade?
Thnx in advance.

Yes, notification led. With root you can personalize colors, with led blinker, for example.
I didn't try wanam, don't know what is it. But I did a xtheme, xposed works very well.
Very good battery life. I am happy with this phone. Little bigger than sgs4 mini, but any comparison about quality, 720p is better... colors too. It's time to upgrade bro!
Does it have air view and air gestures? The one where you can hover your finger over an item to preview its content?
Yes it does, air view, motions and gestures are available.

thanks for clarifying that. coz gsmarena says on their review that it doesn't have that feature.

Galaxy Tab S2 4G LTE Unboxing Review with Phone features

Testing out the Galaxy Tab S2 4G LTE version. So far I will be keeping the Tab S2! I wasn't going to upgrade from my Tab S, but after these last two days of using it on the road, it is a premium tablet! Samsung has come a long way from previous builds, not that I didn't like them just has stepped up.
Here is a look at the Galaxy Tab S2 4G LTE, it is a bit long as I was testing out the 4G LTE with Verizon SIM and AT&T. Also some web browsing and overall look.

it's good to have a tablet with the phone features, though sometimes it feels not so convenient as a phone.
nice video.

With Google Voice, pretty much anything with access to the internet and a microphone can place calls and receive them. It does come in handy at times.
Honestly i don't see much a point for a tablet to place calls outside of google voice, because that would mean you have a separate phone number.

Thanks... Yes this wouldn't be as convenient to use as a phone, but would work if someone wanted to use a Bluetooth headset and a Smartwatch.

Yes I don't think I would use the tablet as a phone, maybe only as backup with a Bluetooth headset. Maybe I can see using it in the car as a phone where you can pair it your car or just use the Bluetooth headset.

I have the tab s 8.4 lte version and when my S6 was sent in for repairs, I used the tablet as a phone. It was great! The size wasn't that bad to hold up and with the built in ear speaker, I may have looked weird talking on it but it worked just fine. More so, I purchased the LTE version because its great to have Data anywhere.
Also got the the LTE version. You can also whatsapp on it. It basically a giant S6

What carrier you using your Tab S2? I call my Tab S2 9.7 the big Note 5++ ?
Sent from my SM-T815 using Tapatalk
Just got mine today. Took the ATT sim out of my ipad air 2 and slipped it in and it shows the network bars but wont connect to any data. 4G lte worked fine in the air 2. It is an add on line for our mobile family plan. I guess I need to call att and have them provision the sim for the S2? The sim out of my S6 active works fine it the S2.
EDIT: Ok they set it up with the new imei and it is working fine now with just one issue. It shows 4G and not lte like it did with the sim out of my S6. It is getting the same LTE speeds as my S6 it just wont show actual LTE like it did with the sim from the S6. Doesn't bother me just kind of odd.
@ElCamino, thanks for the detailed unboxing and review!
Samsung has like 100 variants of these tablets, each with a different band support configuration. Can you please list the full Samsung model number (including all the letters past the 815...) and its FCC ID (if there is one) of this imported model?
How do I access the phone call feature on my AT&T LTE 9.7 in version ? Don't see an icon or anything to make calls or is calling limited to certain tablets ?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G928A using Tapatalk
I do not think carrier versions have calling function that is cellular..this is standard practice as on t705/707?, t325/320 etc...the carriers fault...not Samsung's just as iPad has no cellular calling just data capability..same as t335/337?, t230/231?/235/237? and so on....
I may have carrier model numbers wrong but my point remains
You need international version for cellular calling

Make sure the SIM is provision for LTE. For a Galaxy Note 5 that I had done a video for, it would only stay at H+, called and they changed it on their end. In the Tab S2 I have, it shows 4G at top but checking in settings, about devices, status. I can see that it shows its on LTE.

Just a few comments in defense of calling capability in a tablet.
There are several reasons you might want this:
1. You are carrying around a tablet and a smart phone, why not just carry one device, a tablet?
2. Smart phones are too small, you need something bigger for your eyes.
3. Your new vehicle demands a phone connection and you constantly forget your phone, both at home and in the vehicle. You plan to install a small tablet for a phone & also other uses so it is there permanently.
Comments:
1. No where is there a law that says your phone must be held up to your head. In fact, it is probably better that you don't do that (radiation). Modern technology allows other ways of communicating.
2. T-Mobile has the 'DIGITS' feature in progress where 1 number (your number) can be used for multiple devices. Hence NO NEED to get a second number.

I have the T719 and it is my only phone at the moment! I am liking having a large device for my apps and internet, and the only really hurdles have been not being able to pocket the device, and calls in public can be cumbersome without a headset. But in the car with Bluetooth it's exactly the same, and it's not an issue at home at all.

What is the exact model of your T719 including the letter if any after the 719? I am still looking for a model to install in my car to use as the car phone, same number as all devices using T-Mobile Digits.

It's simply SM-T719, no carrier affiliation at all. It isn't sold in the U.S. except online. The guy I got it from gave me the link to a great site that ships to the U.S. very quickly. It's in another thread here, couldn't find it just now but will find it if you're interested ? Oh, and it seems to have full Penta band LTE, so it even supports T-Mobile perfectly. Between all that, and the snapdragon processor. I couldn't be happier with it.
