Hello friends,

I have been Google-ing around to find a way for installing a custom recovery on my SM-T531 and a rom for 5.1.1. but have been unable to find one. I currently, have 5.0.1.
i want to do this for being able to install Kali Linux on my tablet. can anyone shed light on this?

Use this post to root and have a custom recovery. I don't think anyone's succeeded porting Kali or Ubuntu to this tablet

if it would be that easy, everybody would do it
what do you mean by "good with computers"? do you know how to write code (C/C++)? are you yet experienced with running linux? have you ever compiled a kernel before? do you want to make a source-(AOSP)-rom (then you can get the source here: http://source.android.com/ and here: http://opensource.samsung.com/) or do you want to just theme and customize a stock firmware?
i think there are already some tutorials around which will help you in the beginning. just google for them!
i haven't done custom rom development myself but i would really like to get some (clean) aosp goodness on this phone. i am experienced with linux (use it since 6 years as primary os) and i can code c/c++/asm. so if you are in fact serious and able to go all the way. i would appreciate to help!

I'm pretty able to develop with Eclipse, so android sdk. Linux quite good, i prefer to use windows, but i know linux is necessary. First of all i'd like to know how to customize GALAXY fw and then i'll study how to compile a kernel, no one during my life helps me, and it's difficult for me because i'm not good with english and all tutorials are in english!
I'll try to work on it! Thank you
Can someone explain me how to cook a Galaxy S Froyo ROM with AOSP as the base and samsung drivers?
Could someone please explain to me how to flash the Korean firmware onto the European phone? Really need the native "record call" feature
I saw some instructions posted here

It's not difficult if you're comfortable with linux, shell scripts, custom kernels, and cross compiling.
Basically that's pretty much all it needs, Android systems are very similiar to a running linux system.
Boot off a bootloader (usually closed sourced) into kernel and initrd, then init loads the drivers, system and configs, after which is pretty much to your taste and likings.
Source code of android, samsung kernel source, are available online, google is your friend.

[Q] Technical questions about CyanogenMod !

Hi everyone,
I’m using CM7 for a month now and very appreciate it ! I’m a bit of a noob in the Android & Linux world and so I wanted to have more information about a few things that I’m reading regularly. I’m looking for papers, blog posts, wiki sources or your personal tips and tricks about :
- In what consist porting a ROM to a device ? I mean for instance in what consists the porting of the ICS sources to a mod as Cyanogenmod 9 for a specific device ? (I’m using the Motorola Defy)
- What is building a ROM? And what are Nightlies ?
- What are the main difficulties in porting sources to other devices?
- How does rooting of a device works? What is modified in the device?
- How is the bootmenu installed ? What is modified to have access to that menu during the booting ?
I’m asking because I was looking for technical information and found nothing !
So, if you could help with all kinds of information and sources, do not hesitate !
Thank you everyone !

For boot menu, the logwrapper binary is changed to a new file. That file is one of the first things run by the kernel, and this binary is used to hook in and light the blue LED, and listen for a button press. It then starts the boot menu for real if you press the down button, and displays it on the screen.
Rooting is exploiting of a vulnerability in the device, in order to gain root (superuser/administrator) access, and thus full control of the running system. You then leave a binary in place to allow further access as root without issues (su binary), and Superuser.apk to control root access on a per-app basis.
Thank you for answering.
Do you know what kind of vulnerability is exploited ?

[Q] Kali Nethunter for 230NU

I searched the other forums and didn't see anything about this topic.
I have a rooted SM-T230NU and want to install Kali Linux Nethunter. Is there anyone who has had any success with this? As far as I can tell only Nexus and 1+1 devises are currently confirmed to be able to install. Is there a anyone working on this project? I don't have any developer knowledge but will be willing to help where I can.
Thank you

Helo nethunter and nexmon

my device nexus 6p
I apologize in advance for my english. It's been 3 years since I've been dealing with kali nethunter and nexmon.
I want to deal with it again and I have a few questions about it.
Which rome and which kernel is best for kali and nexmon?
And which nethunter build or chroot build do you recommend?
Three years ago it was only possible to use it with stock rom nexmon if I remember correctly.
thank you for your coming help.
I'm pretty sure you can I install on custom ROMs now, I was reading on the android development forum about a kernel with the wireless firmware already in it, try it out, CYPHER, I think it was called. And let us know how it went.
