[Kernel][N4][N7] different franco kernel behaviour - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello there,
i have a little issue with a "same but different" behaviour the franco kernel does. both devices use the latest paranoid and franco version, see below.
i use usb y-cable on the nexus 7 to charge it and have a connection via usb-lan, so wlan is disabled. this works without any issues on the nexus7, but it doesn't on the nexus 4.
the n4 just charges, but it won't recognize the usb-lan adapter (dmesg shows me so), so no connection via lan.
also both devices run afwall+. the n7 shows the the firewall logs, the n4 does not. logcat is working on both, also the CatLog app is running fine on both devices, sbut no afwall log on the n4.
my guess: because the n4 (#217) kernel doesn't log denied packages, at least i wont see anything when running dmesg. (not to mention: of course dmesg shows me denied packages on the n7)
any idea why that happening and/or if there's a way to fix it?

[Q] Hotspot Mod - NAE, MDC, MK2?

Hi Everyone,
I've tried searching Google and using the Search function in this forum but I cannot for the life of me get a clear answer. I rooted my Sprint Samsung Galaxy S4 phone which had Stock 4.4.2 firmware by following the [SPH-L720] CF-Auto-Root steps and then I installed CyanogenMod 11 by using the Android and Windows Apps. I would now like assistance with getting Sprint Hotspot enabled. I was able to locate the threads in here for the [MOD]. I was able to determine I am not using Odex, but am using Deodex by looking at the System/Apps folder using a Root Explorer. The only thing I need to know now I believe is whether or not I am running NAE, MDC, MK2, etc. as this is not easily available to see on my device (so it seems). I believed it was NAE based on the Build information but that ended up causing me to brick my phone for a moment and having to do a recovery of my last backup.

None of those mods will work, the hotspot mods you listed will not work, they are for the stock Touchwiz roms only. You have CM installed. I believe CM has Androids built in tether provisioning enabled so ask in the CM thread or search your settings till you find the toggle for it.

[Q] Flashing custom kernel only on my Nexus 7 (2013)

Hi,
my only goal is to use my Nexus 7 (2013 version, running kitkat) to view digital television (dvb-t).
Therefore, have I unlocked it (with complete erase grrr), then rooted it.
And finally, read about one hundred message threads on xda to know how to compile dvb modules for my kernel (3.4.0-gac9222c).
My problem, after all this work, is that it seems that Google did not compile its kernel with modules support.
After doing
# lsmod, I got the following error:
/proc/modules: No such file or directory.
This means apparently that there is no modules support for this kernel.
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/18818442/loading-kernel-modules-in-android-4-3
My 2 questions is the following:
(1) is it possible to flash a kernel image on my nexus 7 to get module support
(2) is it possible to do that without reflashing my ROM (my stock ROM is enough for my needs)
Cheers,
Louis
I am now in the process of recompiling my own kernel for my Nexus 7 2013, incorporating the DVB-T drivers that I need.
I found a very good tutorial for doing this: http://pete.akeo.ie/2013/10/compiling-and-running-your-own-android.html
The only problem is that the sources of dvb usb drivers in the Android kernel are not up-to-date.
I am searching an easy way to inject the last sources from git://linuxtv.org/media_build.git into the Android kernel?
The directory structure is different. I think i will be forced to update the Makefiles and the Kconfig files by hand, and add & replace .c and .h files manually. I someone has a better (more lazy) solution, I am interrested :victory:
Meanwhile, I play with an old Freecom usb DVB-T stick that is supported by old media sources in the Android kernel.
Wrong forum, here is the 2013 model's one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-7-2013

[Q] Can't install Android Wear

Some time ago I bought (tricked) a Bepa G900W very bad clone from Galaxy S5.
Once I began to know what kind of bug it was I decided to install a better custom Rom.
Right now it has this ROM:
Model: SM-G900W
Android version: 4.4.2 (I'm not sure this is true)
Baseband version: G900SKSU1ANDCD
Kernel: 3.4.5 [email protected] #1
Compilation: KOT49H.G900SKSU1AND3
My problem is that I can't install Android Wear. The Play Store doesn't show it, and when try to install directly from an APK, it gives an "analysis error", "an error has been produced when analysing the apk".
Does any of you know a possible solution?
TIA
I just found that this specific kitkat version 4.4.2 for MTK6582 is really API level 17.
Is there anything against cooking a Kitkat ROM, API level 18, for MTK6582 devices? Nobody has done it yet?

[MarshMallow] Unofficial LiquidSmooth MM6.0 | Oppo Find 5

Just IN....
The nice smooth LiquidSmooth with MarshMallow 6.0 and latest android-6.0.1_r10.
Install:
First time installing LiquidSmooth to your Find5, or coming from another ROM:
- Make sure you're running a proper working Recovery (TWRP 2.8.6.0 recommended)
- Copy GApps and LS-MM-v6.0--YYYY-MM-DD-liquid_find5.zip to your internal SDCard
- Boot into Recovery
- DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET
- Flash LS-MM-v6.0--YYYY-MM-DD-liquid_find5.zip
- Flash GApps zip (I you don't need all Google feature, i recommend Opengapps, mini)
- Reboot
Works:
- Device boots
- Graphics working OK (No stress tests done)
- WiFi, bluetooth works
- Vibrator, sounds, apps, etc. works
Does not work:
- Cellular network is unavailable. I will fix this in my next update
- Minor things not tested (Please give your input or raise issues)

Sorry guys. My repo is messed up now. I need to fix certain errors in kernel and cm13 frameworks before anything is delivered. Working on it...
I will test it out for you but i am not sure how I can help you. If you release the rom I will try to flash it.
I currently already have cm13 from wux on my find 5 running.

Ditto, and not sure if wuxianlin is going to release newer builds. Even with the existing bugs, I like CM13:
The big 3 problems with Oppo Find 5 CM13 builds are WiFi hotspot not working, bluetooth audio not working, video recording not working. If this is going to be an active ROM that will be maintained and I can help testing, I'll install it.
New build with Liquidsmooth this time. Help yourself...

Excellent news! Any success with getting hotspot/BT audio/video recording working in this new release?

Nope. All these things will work but right now I am stuck with simcard not being detected. Am trying to debug that. And get the camera profiles up and running.
Dear All,
I am changing companies and also moving computer builds these days. So I will not be able to work on this anymore. But hopefully, I will come back with an Oreo build for our beloved Find5. I will close all the other development threads that I have since no further development will take place on the older versions.

Firmware update full_8227L

Hello, i have an old android car device and i updated it because it became very slow and i couldn't use it anymore... But it seems i put wrong firmware, now its working faster but the problem is that the resolution is not correct and it cut off the screen. The problem is that i don't have much information for the device, i tried to put many different firmwares but i get the same error message: "Fail, please check usb and files" This is the information that i have:
before the update:
Model:
8227L
Android version:
9
Kernel version:
3.18.79 (gcc version 6.3.1.20170404 (Linaro GCC 6.3-2017.05)) [email protected]#72
Full_8227L_demo-userdebug 9 011019 1550112051 userdebug
Custom build version:
alsps-mo-o1.mp5
And the screen shots are after the update. I tried to update it trough the both usb ports but it didnt work, should i try to do it trough the SD card? If someone has similar device or problem please let me know if you have any solution, also if you have the right firmware. The pictures are after the update. Also i cant find much information about the device because i bought it 4 years ago..
