Stock 5.0.2 laggy - removed SD card and it's fixed - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My note 3 has been quite laggy over the last month or so. A bit of googling, and I found a post saying that removing the SD card will help with wake lag. My wake lag has never been a big issue, it's mostly switching between apps and loading things on chrome.
Any idea why removing the SD card would fix the lag? Should I buy a new SD card?
It's a class 10 32gb lexar SD card if that matters, it's over a year old and has been through a few different phones.

Sounds like nonsense! While opening stuffs from SD card might take some time in comparison with opening something from phone's memory itself, but that shouldn't matter when the card is not in use. You can still just use the phone without the card to see whether there is any difference or not.

I know it sounds odd, but it seems to be true. I have the s pen set to open an action memo when I remove the pen. It went from 5s to almost instant.
And if you search on google, you'll see a number of threads about wake lag and removing the sd card improved it.

Hmm, don't know what to make of it. Probably Samsung is right by claiming external cards do make a phone run slower! I don't have one installed anyway.
What app are you using to set Action memo on S Pen remove? Note buddy?

It's in the s pen settings, under detachment options. No 3rd party app needed.

The SDcard doesn't make the phone slower. Mediascanner/Indexingservice does. There is a very simple solution to this problem. (And it's not removing the MicroSD. Although that works too.)
Just pop a .nomedia file into every folder you dont need for the system. (like a folder with magazines. You don't need to see those in a gallery app, you can just open them from a file explorer. Ditto for documents, films, navigational files, etc.)
The .nomedia file excludes the folder from the index service. You can find one to copy in the Android directory.
The nomedia files also apply to subdirectories, so any folders within the folder containing the nomedia file are also excluded, no need to place one in those.
(Don't exclude the folder containing your alarm or ringtone!)
And can people please start remembering that MicroSD's are meant for MEDIA, not apps? You're not supposed to run programs from a portable harddrive on a desktop, either...

[Q] Limited access to external SD Card by some apps

Hi,
I've done a search and haven't been able to find anything solid on this so I apologize if it's been covered. I've been using the Atrix for a few days now and I noticed that when I view click on the "Files" app (the default file viewer that comes with the Atrix) it comes up with a list of the following options:
Internal phone storage
SD card
Shared folders
Protected Content
This is different than previous Android phones I've used in that I get a file structure instead of options of where to look. That's fine; I can just click on one of those options to view the contents. However, I use a application at work to use my phone as a glorified picture frame. It's called Slideshow Bob and it does not recognize the external SD Card. This hasn't been an issue with prior Android devices, but from little I can glean from doing an online search, this does seem to be a limitation with some Motorola models. Again, I have had no problem accessing my pictures in Slideshow Bob from any of the Samsung Android devices I own and this is my first Motorola phone with this OS so I'm wondering if this is a bug that will be remedied or if they've basically limited file access from apps on this phone. I'm sure that's not the case with every app, but it certainly is for some. Anyone else have any issues or workarounds they'd like to share?
iirc, none of the currently released Samsung Android devices have built-in storage plus an expansion slot, which is why you've likely never seen the issue.
Basically, Android was never designed to have more than one expansion slot, so that ends up being mounted in /mnt/sdcard (or /sdcard, with one symlinked to the other). Since there's no standard on where additional storage ends up being (and most programs assume there's no additional storage anyways), programs usually don't know where to look.
There is probably an option is Slideshow Bob of where to get the pictures, try /mnt/sdcard-ext/[folder name], where [folder name] is the name of the folder on the external sd card where the pictures are.

Hi,
My Samsung Captivate had 16GB of built-in memory and an SD expansion card slot which I filled with an additional 16GB card. In the android file manager I could access the expansion card by going into the ext_sd (or something like that) under the main sdcard directory. I could also see this folder in Slideshow Bob.

Hi,
There is no such option. There is an option for the default folder, but it's a text field you have to type in, not a directory structure. I tried typing in the path to the external sd card, /sdcard-ext/MEDIA, directly (which ASTRO file manager shows exists), but the app says the directory does not exist. I really think Motorola is doing something to limit what apps can and cannot access for whatever reason. This has never been an issue with my Samsung Captivate or Galaxy Tab.
I think this actually has to do with the external sd card being mounted separate from the internal. In my previous devices the external card was seen as a directory on the internal sd card. With the Atrix it is an entirely separate item and some apps may not be able to access it as a result of having that different mounting. I don't have any other apps with which I need to navigate to a directory (other than various file managers) so I can't test how endemic this is. I imagine it might be an issue for apps that rely on a folder structure for data access such as music apps that are folder based instead of reading from what's in the media library.
I just tried another slideshow app. It is a problem, I think, with Slideshow Bob. It can't see any folders not on the internal sd card. In my Samsung devices the external card was viewed as a folder on the internal card and was, therefore, not a problem.
Apps having directory navigation problems on the Motorola Atrix
Kenny, I have the same problem with the PowerAmp app. My phone is also rooted and I have root explorer which shows me the music files exist. I can even play one file at a time with the power amp from explorer. But I get the same issue when I try to navigate to the music using poweramp. One more possibility is that the Atrix is running Android 2.2.1. Perhaps there is an issue with the upgrade. (I thing this "upgrade" is a disappointment compared to 2.2. I'd rather try Gingerbread.) AT&T has a 30 buyers remorse period and I've only had the Atrix for a week. I love the phone and I would hate to take it back but wtf? I'm just like the rest of you, I just want the damn thing to work!
p.s. My wife's Samsung Captivate never had this issue either.
Update: I found this issue in the Poweramp forum and I also spoke to an at&t support specialist and they verified what was said earlier about the problem is in the difference between the Atrix file system versus the Captivate. The Captivate mounts the external sd card as a folder inside the internal sd card while the Atrix has it mounted separately. The Poweramp administrators promise a fix in a week so I'm glad they are aware of the problem. This seems like an easy bug to fix. I will snoop around the market to see if an app can "trick" the Atrix file system to put the external sd in an internal sd folder. If anyone is aware of such an app, let us know.
The Atrix is promised the Gingerbread upgrade later this year. It has a new file system (ext4) which promises to be faster for phones like our Atrix or the Nexus. As I said, it seem an easy problem to fix, I'm sure this problem will be a thing of the past by then, I'm going to keep my Atrix and wait.
Kenny, you might want to check your app's web site to see if they have a fix in the making.
The Atrix being my first android phone im still learning things every day and I have had similar issues with the sd card and storage partitions. while checking out different files and what not I stumbled upon this default.prop file which contains the following..
#
# ADDITIONAL_DEFAULT_PROPERTIES
#
ro.secure=1
ro.allow.mock.location=0
ro.debuggable=0
persist.service.adb.enable=0
EXTERNAL_STORAGE_MOUNT=/mnt/sdcard
I was wondering if any one with more android experience is familiar with creating and editing prop files for certain activities could confirm if we switch the last line to sdcard-ext if this would now read or set our external sd card to be the sd card that the system and most apps read and write to. I haven't tested it myself but being familiar with different registry edits in winmo and windows im thinking this will work.. anyone agree or have some information they can share?

Kit Kat 4.4 and external SD cards

I have read and I like the new restrictions on "external SD card" use. It will prevent a lot of apps from leaving crapola all over your device.
It does not restrict your use of data etc. It just keeps you organized. If you want to uninstall an app and still keep its data, you can simply move the data to a new folder.

True - I only root my devices when they are out-dated.
I don't think the 8013 has reached that point yet.
I am still happy with its performance.
But what I am understanding is apps are corralled to their own folders. This implies to me that some I rely on will cease to work. Example:
I use folder sync to keep lecture notes synced between my 10.1 and S4. By my read of KitKat, folder sync will be prohibited from writing to the lecture notes folder.
What about photos? Different apps to adjust photos depending on what I want to do.
And what about ES File Explorer. Won't it become useless?

Sorry if I may be asking the obvious, but in what way is KitKat a pain for root users?

There aren't. I've had KitKat since weeks after release (S4 GPe). I've been in touch with many developers and made them aware of the issue before it went mainstream. Bottom line, here's the limitation in the simplest of terms.
-An app can read any file on the MicroSD Card.
-An app can only modify contents within a self contained subfolder
So, file managers won't work if stock and unrooted (read only, no writing). FolderSync doesn't work. ES doesn't work (it will tell you that it created/deleted/modified the folder, but then when you refresh, the change never happened).
A good example of how this works would be with a bare bones gallery application. If you store your photos in a random folder within the SD card, the Gallery app can view them. However, if you try to delete a picture, it will only remove from the gallery and remain on the SD card. After a device reboot, it will reappear in the gallery (this also happens with Google Photos and the stock Gallery app).
Another way to do this would be for the gallery app to copy all photos to the gallery subfolder and ignore photos outside of this folder. And if you remove the app? Photos are gone (except what was at the original location). But, this just causes duplication issues.
Lastly, applications can be given permission to read/write to VERY specific ContentProviders and folders. So eventually, you'll have a shared folder called "Pictures" that any gallery application can modify as needed. However, this function is, again, for very specific usage and still prevents file managing apps from doing what they're intended to do.

Seems like the android team need to add some sort of "firewall" implementation, for apps users WANT their old ability back and still provide their users with this security for the majority of their other apps, it doesnt have to be all or nothing, .......make the most secured option as default, for basic users, while giving the power users the option to "fine tune" it, i.e. the "firewall" analogy

Just to be clear, if I write an app and want to write (not modify) to an external SD card I must write to the self contained folder.
Is that correct?

I don't see how you think it doesn't restrict a user's data but keeps the card organised, when I have all my data (a LOT of work PDFs and docs, plus some photos), all nicely filed away and synchronised with my NAS, and other tablets; and now I cannot do this. I cannot organise my content at all (actually I am struggling even to put it on the SD card, except by taking it out out plugging it into a USB adapter into my PC). Until now, I have never had any apps leave crapola on my SD card. I used to be able to save lecture recordings direct to a nice "recordings" file on the SD card. Now it has to put it somewhere obscure (android/data/.somthingrandomthatisapaintofind).
It seems this works on some apps and not on others. For example foldersync doesn't seem to be able to write to the external sd card anymore, nor does X-plore, however, Es file Explorer seems to be fine about it, and happily writes files to the sdcard?! So if ES can do it, why can't the others?

I see - you are just using the USB cable I assume. The functionality I have lost is to:
a) wirelessly synchronise multiple pdf/document files in multiple folders and multiple subfolders, whether edited on the Note or on PC (or both).
b) Used a file management app to organise files & folders on my home network between my PC and external SD card. It was even able to wirelessly copy my work direct from the NAS.
None of the apps I used stored any files on my SD card and because they have taken away my access to my SD card I cannot sync my files properly. I realise I could just plug the cable in, but that is not practicable when I am editing 100s of documents in 100s of different subfolders a day - an automatic sync is fantastic. Android is strongly geared towards the "leisure" side of the market and I am going to have to take another look at Windows tablets if they don't fix this (except I would miss the S Pen!)

What device are you using that can write to SD using ES? I have the Galaxy S4 GPe (i9505G) and ES cannot do anything with the SD Card.
Have you updated ES? I heard they upated to fix it.
As I understand there is something called storage access framework that is supposed to be the replacement for direct file access.
I haven't seen kitkat. FolderSync is my biggest concern.

Yes, thanks to a post somewhere on XDA I am now using ES file manager, which as you say, will work with the ExtSD on Kitkat (though I still prefer Astro myself).
I still can't sync my content though which is the bigger problem. I used to use SyncMe. A fantastically easy to set up App that would seamlessly sync content across multiple devices (still works fine on my Note 8). I can't find anything to replace this at present.

[Q] Changed from IPhone 5S to Samsung Note 3 n900aucucnc2 on 4.4.2 and need some help

OK to start things off this is going to be a long list of questions/issues and various impressions, some opinionated and some fact. I've had apple phones for years and appreciate both, I changed because my iphone couldn't do some things my note 3 can do such as open up 200+ MB pdfs with relative ease, but then again the samsung struggles to do simple things the iphone did fresh out of the box. This is not meant to be a discussion of which is better but it would help to know what I'm comparing it to and how I think simple things should work. I use a PC just FYI.
1.) Data Transfer of large files from various desktops to the Note 3 either through internal memory or external sd card.
My first issue is that I cannot move large files from my internal memory to my sd card. The sd card in question is a sandisk 128gb but have also tried to few others just to make sure it's not the card. If I download a large file on utorrent such as a 720p movie or better, I cannot move it from internal memory to sd card. I just won't do it. Not only will it refuse to move large files but any photos are sometime hit and miss, sometimes it moves them with no issue at all, most of the time the files stay in the parent folder and don't end up in the destination folder. I can move various files if I connect it to my desktop and drag and drop them onto the sd card but sometimes moving the file corrupts it where it cannot be played on the phone. I've also tried this with numerous computers with the same result. to move files on the phone i go to my files, select the directory and then select the file I want to move. I hold down on it to select it and then press move, it then shows the internal and external storage options, i select the sd card and the folder I want the file in and then press move here in the top right hand corner. If there is another way let me know.
Second issue is when dragging and dropping large music files directly to the sd card or internal memory from a pc. If a drag and drop a FLAC album it corrupts it about 50% of the time. I routinely go to play the album and get the message that it does not support the file type or something to that affect. I often just delete it and redo the process, most of the time that works. On MP3's, if I drag and drop an entire discography of an artist (say 8gb or so) it's corrupted 100% of the time. When I go to playback the albums they play at double speed. I have to go back and drop them one by one and sometimes (but rarely) that has the same issue.
2.) Audio Playback/Microphone/Headphone/Bluetooth Issues
Firstly, I thought that all 3.5mm headphone jacks were on a standard. I did not realize that the note did not come with headphones and that the headphones that I used with an apple device would not fully function on an android device. This seems like something so simple it shouldn't even be an issue. All of the headphones, earbuds, etc I have that have inline controls do not adjust the volume or skip tracks on my android device. You name it, like a half dozen brands. It just doesn't work...
When trying to use talk to text for a text message either with headphones with inline mic or with a Bluetooth headset it does not use the microphone on the accessory device, it uses the internal phone mic which is an issue for me. So instead of using the mic right next to my mouth I have to hold the phone up to my mouth in loud places. I don't know any way to change this...I couldn't find it in any settings.
3.) Lockscreen (I don't know how this is supposed to work, I looked it up and I'm assuming its something I'm doing.)
I want my lockscreen to be simple but I cannot seem to get the weather off of my lockscreen. It does not appear unless I swipe down and there it is. How do I remove it? If I open up the lockscreen editor by swiping from left to right its not there. I only have one lockscreen page so I don't know whats going on.
When I have notifications on my lock screen and click on them it puts a box around the lower part of my lock screen where you normally swipe as to say swipe here stupid to unlock. Is that the case or am I missing something else? It seems as though if my phone doesn't have a security lock on it and I press on my notification it should just open it. Or is it intentionally non-intuitive for some other reason?
4.) GLITCHES!!!!!!!! Various other issues
Routinely my music apps gets stuck on a page. Say if I'm listening to an album and try to back it up to my list of albums it just loads the same page over and over again. I have to hit my homebutton and open up the music app again from the icon and sometimes that causes it to crash. It does this on the stock Samsung music player and on play music. Normally my phone plays music 24/7 so it may be just how much I use it for that purpose.
Apps crash on a regular basis, at least a few times a day. I'd say I have an app crash maybe 3-5 times a day on average. Some more than others. Because of all the glitches I did a factory reset weeks ago to see if there was another issue. I've also tried uninstalling and re-installing all the apps that normally crash but that hasn't seemed to help. I don't believe apps used by millions on other android devices such as Bank of America (crashes literally every time I use it) or Pandora could be the problem.
Google integration is sketchy at best, It routinely doesn't delete e-mails off the google server when I delete them off my phone. It's really hit and miss. Sometimes it works, sometimes it will load the same e-mails dozens of times even though I've deleted it daily. The google+ photo backup is hit and miss and even updates over cellular even though its set to only update over wifi when plugged in. All of the sync settings seem appropriate for what I want it just doesn't work.
Text scaling under most situations is completely absurd. I've got 5.7" of screen and have to re-scale practically everything that loads so I can read it. This is especially and issue when reading forums which I'm on frequently. Is there a way to change this? If there isn't there definitely should be! Not a glitch but an issue.
All social media apps that load from a page (a wall, forum, feed, whetever) always reload when I click on something and go back forcing me to start over from the beginning. I've only had this issue on this phone, my previous iphones just take me back to where I was. Is there a way to change this annoying problem?
5.) The Photo Gallery
It just doesn't work. I don't know any other way to put it, its the second biggest failure on the phone. i wouldn't trust it with important anything! It routinely just looses photos, online account's don't update at all, s health photo that I've deleted dozens of times keeps showing up in my photos, all my album covers end up in my gallery and I have to manually go back and delete them all, photos end up corrupted and not able to view them whether on sd card or on phone, it goes on and on. Is there another application I can use? Can I make another app my default gallery app? Some online photos like picassa/google+ don't load correctly, it'll show the preview photo and when clicked on it'll show a completely different photo from that album. I would just delete it but can't delete online account photos from my phone gallery app and when I delete them online it doesn't update it on my gallery.
6.) Voicemail
I recieved a voicemail the first 10 minutes I had my phone and clicked on it in my notifications and it called my voicemail. I was confused at first, was i holding a 700 dollar phone or 90's Nokia? Seriously? And on top of that it didn't come with ATT visual voicemail out of the box, I had to download it. WTF! No I don't need voicemail on a phone I need 20 other google apps instead...seriously? On top of that att visual voicemail app is crap. I routinely miss voicemails because it not reliable enough to show all my voicemails in my notifications. Is that how all android devices are? I may be a little spoiled by the voicemail being on a tab in my phone app but it seems as though if there is an att specific model this should work better than it does...
7.) Text messaging
I don't use the stock mesaging app because it wouldn't reliably send a photo...that is all. I use textra now and it works better but still isn't what I would consider to be reliable...
8.) General Gripes about the phone app
The buttons are so large it looks like its designed for the seeing impaired.
Color scheme looks like I'm 4 and trying to push blocks into the appropriate holes...
I can't figure out how to change the color scheme on it, can you change it?
I hate the cartoonish figures for people that don't have photos.
Okay, it generally looks childish or like it was designed by Mattel. I need something far more professional looking.
On a positive note, speech and handwriting recognition is second to none, S Pen apps and S pen integration in general is very refined. It's extremely fast with very little lag in all situations. There are lots of positives so I'm not downing the phone at all but it just needs to fit my needs better. That's not everything but a good start. Thanks for your time and patience.
And to sum it all up, I think you should go back to i... :sly:

First - ur post is too big to even read.
You are in xda and there is ton of information here. If you search , u will realize that most of the issues have solution...
When moving from another OS its always difficult but stay and you will love it.
Let me rephrase, it's not an android problem that I'm aware of: is my phone ****ed up and in need of replacement our does every note 900a cnc2 do this stupid ****?
The new os doesn't seem to be an issue this is mainly a hardware issue unless you're saying all android phones corrupt photos straight out the box. Which I know that isn't the case.
Some of my gripes are android related but mostly sounds like a hardware issue.
Try moving the large file using "my files", 3rd party file manager cannot move file from internal to external sd (a limitation introduced in kitkat).
Also try copying your music collection using card reader.

I've only tried my files to move it on the phone, it will not move them.
I basically have to use a card reader to copy anything over a gig or so reliably. I can drag and drop it but that doesn't always work.

Really, and you did that just fine on the iPhone? :silly: That would be quite a full miracle given how (as far as I know) the iPhone never had a SD card :silly:
Read around - if you are on 4.4 there are some new security restrictions on writing to the external SD. If you are on 4.3 you are probably doing something wrong.

Of course I didn't, I.used third party software to drag and drop mp3's on internal storage of a jailbroken device. It worked 100% of the time.
But you're still missing the point. My files are being corrupted whether on the external sd card or the internal storage. There aren't any examples off this on my model phone on your forum...
As far as I know my files isn't a third party so it should have full access to read and write to my sd card per 4.4
That does explain why u torrent won't do it though.
Did u use your iTunes mp3 files? My girlfriend is also into that icrap and when she used my computer for music files I learned that you don't wanna use iTunes. Don't take this as a apple...uhm... disliker read about it if u don't believe it. Itunes messes with the music files and therefor I had to do my whole music storage from the scratch.
I think what @Dejan Sathanas was trying to say was: that if you are not ready to switch u will find strange issues that nobody else encounters and end up spamming the threats. For example: I haven't had any issue moving any files ever on any android device!
So long story short
1. Get the device u prefer (even if it is an apple)
2. Try some music files that didn't run through apple tech

I didn't use the ALAC files from my Apple device. I was under the impression they wouldn't play on here, just used mp3s and flacs. I tried to upload a pic of what the corrupt files look like on my phone but got an error that said could not complete this operation due to low memory. I'll figure it out when I get off work and upload them.
Took it to best buy\ATT, they sent me to the Samsung rep/dealer in store. He couldn't figure out what was going on, why it wouldn't move files, why some would corrupt, update Google anything, etc so they are sending me a new one.

[Q] Installed ES File Explorer, but Gallery won't display moved images

I bought the Aquos (reluctantly) a couple of weeks ago and am not overall impressed, but am stuck with it for now...so am dealing.
But I have having major anxiety (OK, maybe just major annoyance) about the storage issue. I have a 64gb card attached and it is fairly useless. I can't move apps over since the firmware doesn't support app2sd (i think that is what i saw one Dev put on their site).
OK, so I downloaded ES File Explorer and I can move things between the device storage and the SD card easy enough, but as soon as I move images - the gallery won't show them anymore.. They are there... I can navigate to them from apps... But just not the gallery.
In my gallery you can see folders i moved onto the card via taking the card our and putting it in a reader. So I know the gallery 'sees' the card.
I have even moved and/or saved a file into one of the folders on the card that is already showing... And they don't show in the gallery.
Is anyone else having this issue? Or is this maybe just my phone.. (I have tried 2 different SD cards, a 32gb and the 64gb and get the same results)

I have used ES File Explorer for years and haven't had this issue, even on the Crystal...
Are they images that other Image Browsers can view also? If the Gallery app is set to default, clear it, and try viewing the photos with ES, Google Photos, or other apps when it prompts you to choose an app to display the pic.
If that fails, try formatting the card through the phone and moving the photos again.
I use quickpic always an it always registers when I move anything over through es.
Always is a loaded word... If it always worked then why isn't It still working?
Before you give up on this phone I think you should try my above post or something else. Instead of factory resetting the phone as a last resort I think you should do so anyways to see if that will fix the freezes you've been having.
My personal opinion is that you should see if your problems go away by trying X (whatever that might be). My philosophy is that if something is broken I try and fix it. If I can fix it I'll be cautious to not repeat the initial problem. If I can't, whether it's not worth fixing after evaluation or too expensive to do so, I can have a clear-ish conscious towards disposing of it. In the end this is my opinion and you can do whatever you want with your stuff.
Well in the past 4 years quickpic is THE ONLY gallery app I'll use. ES and Quickpic are the first 2 things I install on any new ROM and phone. As far as always goes I just said that because I have never had an issue with it or es.
I don't know what to tell you...
I too use ES as my file manager and previously used that to transfer most of my images to my SD card. After I installed Quickpic I was able to view all the images I transferred to my SD card.
Gallery image fail
format your sd card on a pc then reinsert it into your phone it should work then.
Lost Gallery photos

I had this same problem and with ES files. Look through you're files and if you find files " .nomedia " delete them . I still don't know how the .nomedia files got on my phone but soon as I deleted them all my photos in Gallery showed back up. No more problems with photos.
Back last February I had a problem with files named
.nomedia and they caused problems with my photos stored on my phone. After I realized it was nomedia files causing the problem I deleted all nomedia files and all was good until last week. Now the nomedia files are showing up again. I delete them only to have the nomedia files return. Delete the file and it shows back up in a different place,in a different file. It's always someplace on my SD Card and I can't get rid of it.
I'm not sure what to do?
My device is
SAMSUNG-SM-G925A
S 6 EDGE
5.1.1
kernel 3.10.61

Thank you in advance for your time and help.

Known Bugs in JFLTE-GPE 2015315

I am making a thread to let developers and users discuss and talk about known issues with the JFLTE-GPE rom
1.) when you go to format your sd card, it ask to draw a lock pattern even if you have a password, it stilll allows you to enter a password.
2.) Sd card support for apps, i know google changed the way the sd card works in lollipop but that was a very useful feature
3.) Camera saves to phone by default even if card is inserted, you have to manually change it to sd card
4.) When using facebook messenger i had a issue when trying to send a photo the phone would detect media files such as thumbnails for media and stickers and I had to drag for ever to get to the photo I wanted to send
Will anybody like to reply to this post to state their issues with the rom please I will help people from the information I know about it already.
Thanks for everyones time

2) The sd card support for apps was not there in the first place.
Google doesn't want apps and app data to be on the SD card.
I don't know if the rom devs can do anything.
3) The only camera that supports saving to SD is the Motorola camera. Or, maybe, a third party camera app.
This issues should be posted on the actual development thread. That's what it is there for. To discuss issues and problems.
1. Never encountered this, as I don't use a pattern lock or password.
2. As mentioned, Google does not want apps or app data on the MicroSD card. In fact, their phones do away with the MicroSD card entirely.
3. The One Plus camera app also requires the user to manually select the MicroSD card. I don't see this as a major issue, especially when more phones are coming without MicroSD card slots.
4. This is normal behavior, though I agree that it is annoying. The solution is to create a blank text file named ".nomedia" (period required) in every folder that you don't want scanned. For example, I have Moon+ Reader Pro. That app stores every single book cover it extracts from my PDFs in a folder on the internal storage. When using the AOSP Gallery the media scanner would find all those images for my book covers. Adding a .nomedia file to Moon+ Reader Pro's cover storage cache removed those files from the Gallery the next time I opened it.
