Long story short.
Was on cloudy 2.2(KK),tried to directly flash Cloudy 3.3 (LP)
Got Soft bricked with only LG logo coming and blank screen.
But could boot into TWRP after great difficulity
Now my best option is to Mount OTG and flash a stock ROM to fix the phone right?
I just want my phone to be working again.
Can i install Cloudy 2.2 again after a full wipe?
Or do i need to flash stock lg firmware now?
Model- D802
Yup. Or do a an ADB sideload
Sent from my LG-D800 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Just flash stock through Download mode. You didn't flash the LP Bootstack, thats why it got bricked
Or if you have access to TWRP, do a factory reset and flash 2.2 to get it working. Latest TWRP supports MTP mode so you can transfer ROM from PC
It would have been enough to flash an LP bootstack, for ex. from daniel.stuart and 3.3 would have booted.
Indeed, flash right bootloader and reboot recovery. After that flash rom.
(if you see LG logo very short and then you see a black screen, most of the time it a wrong bootloader)

Thanks

I have the Tmobile LG G2 (D801)

I cannot install either TWRP or CWM Recovery.
No matter what method I use to install a recovery (a zipped recovery) or using adb fastboot, I always end up on a black screen with
[720] Fastboot mode started
[770] udc_start()
I need the latest CWM or TWRP so I can flash 4.4 Roms. I feel like there is no definite guide on how to install the recovery or it seems like a recovery for D801 does not exist.

There is a guide and a YouTube video walking you through installing twrp through adb. I used it Saturday, works. But I'm thinking I need cwm to install cm11 twrp fails every time.

I just I stalled twrp on my phone today, so here's how I did it. Download recovery from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2469995 , save it on phone SD, dcim folder. Now download flashify from play store. Go to app and choose recovery image, look for the one downloaded earlier. That will flash the recovery and boot after.

Just Tried your method I still get the black screen with the Text on the top left corner.
I'm starting to believe I cannot change recoveries on my phone.
Also, using your method, It only installs 2.6.3.2 , I need 2.6.3.4 or latest CWM cause I want 4.4 based roms. 2.6.3.2 always give me an error when installing 4.4 roms

I am having the same problem can someone help.
Okay so i have a few questions here its been a while since i have placed a Rom onto my device the last one was a Sprint model of the G2 and i was able to successfully install CM12 nightly onto it.
With my T-Mobile G2 i had used the once click root application to do so and used auto rec from the app store to install TWRP recovery hopefully i didn't do anything wrong at this point. So now i try to boot into recovery using the power and the down key at the same time but when i did this i was prompted with do you want to reset all data or not and i of course i chose no and booted back home.
Yes i have Super Su with granting access so to solve this minor problem. I had the quick boot application here to boot into recovery but another problem persisted. I cant flash anything over it fails every time and i am trying to flash 5.1.1 cm 12 i think with gapps with 5.1 i believe but in doing so still failed it matched up and everything. I thought that maybe i was trying to flash something that's really not compatible with my phone so i tried to use the same rom but different carriers.
It was cm-12-20150406-NIGHTLY-D801.zip and gapps-lp-20150222-signed but still failed to install the rom? is there something im doing wrong? May i have a tutorial step by step on what to do to successfully flash? and why cant i boot into recovery with the button configuration did i do something wrong with that i just want to so that if theirs a boot load epidermic and i need to use that to restore and see what the problem is? just need help please

There's no way anyone can read that without any punctuation marks or any paragraph order.
Basically, the data reset function doesn't work when you have a custom recovery, that's how you enter it. But the TWRP version installed is usually old, somewhat like 2.7.0.0, so you need to update it before installing any roms.
If you really do have recovery installed when you get to the screen about erasing data just choose yes and yes and it will just take you to recovery. If that's too scary for you then just boot into recovery using an app like rebooter from the play store.
As far as flashing it sounds like you may have downloaded bad files. If you're using your phone to download the roms maybe try using a pc then transferring to your phone. And DON'T flash roms for a different carrier, you're just asking for trouble.

The problem might be that you are on the wrong bootloader so v30 lollipop. As loki and bump don't work on it it will result into an failed flash. What you can do is flash the right bootloader or easily downgrade bootloader and bootstack with autorec for your phone. Read carefully which one you need for your tmobile d801. If there is an loki error then just flash the jellybean bootloader what you easily can do with autorec.

Well you download the right version for your d801
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=13763
Then you need to install it
Click on the lollipop and let it do its job. If it asks for root then allow it.
It will probably reboot and you are done. Only need to flash then a newer recovery. Also search bender_007 on xda and leave him a thanks perhaps for his app

With cm12 I am not sure but the cause could be perhaps the wrong modem, and or bootloader. I also suggest to check out newer custom roms the only cyanogenmod as some custom roms are already running on lollipop modem and caf. CAF is code aurora forum so kinda it will also have changes specifically for qualcomm devices.

Hi guys,
I got my brand new LG G2 in the mail today. I was following a guide to root it (which went fine). I then installed autorec to get the TWRP recovery. After clicking the 'to recovery' button in autorec and rebooting the screen is completely covered in colored lines as you can see in the attached picture. From my research I suspect I need the jdi patch for the kernel but I have no idea how to install this with the screen out of action. I'm not even sure if TWRP was installed properly. I would reply appreciate some help with this.

I tried to enter download mode to reflash but it makes the usually booting up sound so I don't think download mode is working (of course I can't see anything on the screen). Anything else I can try?
I was just able to do a stock re-flash. It didn't fix the issue
When you say stock re-flash, do you mean through the LG Flash Tool? If you flashed the stock ROM that way, it would replace the kernel and solve the problem. I don't think your stock ROM flashed properly. Once you get it back, there is a version of Autorec with the JDI panel kernel. Here's a link to download the Autorec with JDI patch: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BxVbJlj3DLzKd2QyQ1Y1Vmh1dTQ
Just follow this method and all will be ok.

which variant is he on ?
Problem: Can't boot into OS on my D800. When booting the screen stays at LG logo and LED keeps flashing green and blue.
Hisotry:
1) Had original AT&T D800 not rooted, no recovery. Got OTA upgrade to Lollipop.
2) Got new phone so decide to debloat to give phone to my wife (on T-mobile)
3) Read xda forums. Downgraded to d80010o using LG flash utility. rooted. installed older version of twrp using autorec. now phone won't boot but can get into download/twrp
4) got into firmware download mode and flashed d80010d using lg flash utility. this time copied new twrp on sdcard and stripped version of rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-g2/development/rom-stock-lollipop-30b-stripped-t3144195) along with dorilp kernel
5) went back to twrp. flashed stripped rom and kernal.
Still no dice. Exact same situation. I can get into download mode/twrp but when booting system gets stuck on LG logo with led slowly flashing.
what am I doing wrong ?
Are you able to get into recovery? With a lolipo ROM you have to download KitKat boot stack or simply download blastgator lollipop ROM patch from here http://blastagator.ddns.net

From what I read in the OP of that ROM, you're supposed to just flash the rom zip, boot up, go back into recovery and flash the kernel.
"To install ROM, just flash the zip! (Note: The zip isn't signed.) My zip flashes everything you need for the ROM to work correctly.
Recommended: Flash @dorimanx kernel after install. My zip includes stock 30f kernel."
Maybe that's the problem?

okay.. installed the patch. still no dice. still getting same stuck at LG logo with led flashing.
also dorimanx kernal is installed. still getting the issue. btw i am not married to this ROM. Any AT&T rom will work. I think there is some mismatch of bootloader/kernal/rom and what not.
what things I can check ?
pulling my hair out.
whatever rom I install using twrp it gets stuck on LG logo. i think i see some message about not being able to unmount /system (but rest of install succeeds).
only way I can get back in OS is to use LG flash utility and flash d80010d or d80010o which basically wipes away everything (recovery, root etc).
assuming I am on stock d80010d, can someone please give idiot proof step by step direction (do i need to check modem version/baseband/bootloader/radio/recovery versions or something to make sure it is compatible ?)

Ok flash back via tot to kitkat and take ota to lollipop. Then use autorec v2. *Do not use the twrp thats comes autorec as it does not flash roms* flash a BUMPED twrp using twrp. Then install your lolipop rom then afterwards install the dormainx d800 lollipop patch just for safe measure but it should work without flashing it.

Yeah it can be rooted. Download stumproot and install it, follow it thru the steps and do the brute force root. Takes a few minutes but it works. I've done it on stock a couple of times. Get autorec v2 on playstore.

I have went through many tutorials but none of them were able to help me with flashing custom recovery(TWRP). My LG G3 D855 was rooted with towelroot(I think long time ago). I do not know how can I unlock my bootloader or I don't know if it is already unlocked(Picked it off craiglist long time ago). Phone is stuck in fastboot mode. I have tried to fix but I could not. There is no 'download mode'.
Could you please explain each and every step in detail? I really want to reboot my device with a custom ROM.
Phone is running Androind 4.4.2.
So guys? Any help? Just tell me how can I remove that fastboot mode that appears when I restart my device for recovery.

Have you flashed TWRP already?
I have a an D855, I don't think you have to worry about a locked bootloader Mate,
but it was a long time since I got rid of the LG crap, because it was the first thing I did after buying new!
You're on 4.4.2 with towel root so it should very simple to download and flash TWRP using the official TWRP app in Playstore or using an app like Flashify etc.
I basically lost my S7 Edge a week ago so I'm back using my old LG G3 now running Resurrection Remix 5.8(Nougat 7.1.2. AOSP based)
If you wanna run anything using Aroma installer then don't go later than TWRP 3.0.0. for now, because the newer versions don't work.
Either download the Quickboot app to boot to recovery or search on Youtube on how to boot to recovery from off..

The problem is, there is no recovery. Even though flashing TWRP via flashify resulted in nothing but an error showing "Fastboot mode started" when I tapped on option named "Reboot to recovery". This is the main problem I am facing. I can flash, upgrade/downgrade and etc but this fastboot mode thing is something beyond what I can fix with my current knowledge.

Maybe first flash back stock, update to the latest firmware and start fresh from there?
There are some good guides in the forums here for that.

If you've to go back to firmware, don't install the newest. Rooting needs an older version. Also described in root-threads here.
