Gmail - Samsung Contacts App Integration - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Hello all,
I recently moved my wife to Gmail on her AT&T Galaxy S4. She has a bunch of Google contacts and Facebook contacts. The problem is that when she uses Gmail to email a FB friend who has an email account listed it never shows up in Gmail. I have a Moto X 2014 with the stock Contacts app and I can email any contact in my list, regardless of where it is coming from? Is there a way to get this to operate on my wife's phone? I tried loading the Google Contacts app but that blew up.
Thanks,
Steve

Contact list

ok i have all my contacts linked to my Gmail account so i can transfer from phone to phone...it's been successful going from the BB 8900 to the HTC Tilt 2 and finally to the HTC Aria. 90% of them are contacts that are linked to my facebook account...ie friends contact pictures changes as they update their facebook profile pic.
but what i've recognized having this benefit is that when fwding or composing email in the Gmail app...it pulls the email address and phone number of everyone in my facebook friends list. folks i don't care to or ever will contact, that are not in my Gmail contact list. this makes for even a longer list of names to scroll through..especially using common letters as A or C..etc.
is there a way to turn to this off? i mean only have the Gmail email app pull contacts from ONLY my gmail contact list/those contacts listed on my phone only.
Also interested if there is a working solution to this, for similar annoyance.

[Q] Contacts annoyances (with GMail)

Hi,
I'm a bit annoyed by the way the Galaxy S works with Contacts:
All contacts are synced to Gmail instead of My Contacts
Gmail Groups are not synced, all Gmail contacts are in one group
No easy way to convert phone contacts to Google contacts or to merge contacts into a google contact
Essentially, I want to use GMail exclusively to manage contacts and have all of them synced between GMail and the phone.
I would appreciate any suggestions on how to achieve this, or maybe there is a better Contacts app out there?
This is not SGS issue, but the Android platform has been designed in the way that it's cloud computing centralised, in this case, Android phone is just the "client", you still need to maintain your contact in Gmail (web).
I tried delete a GMail contact in the phone, but that action will not delete the Gmail contact in Gmail server, sadly.
I've searched for solutions and found that the first two issues are solved on some phones, but that the Samsung Galaxy does not have the option to change the sync behaviour.
I want to maintain my contacts in GMail, but the problem is that the phone does not respect the GMail groups and it syncs "All contact", which means everyone I ever sent a mail. It should sync "My contacts", which only contains Contacts I created in GMail.
I hoped that there is maybe an alternative contacts app that does what I want.

I was also annoyed by that fact. But fortunately you can select to display only contacts with phone numbers associated in the contacts
application.
Just hit menu button while showing the list of contacts -> Display options -> only contacts with phones.
This at least solved my major issue with the google synching. Nice: typeahead in the gmail app still works for all people you ever sent a mail.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Try this , it did the trick for me

I have tried Contacts Evolved in the Market. It is a littly buggy, not even sure if it is actively supported. But it does display Gmail contact groups, segregated in tabs.
The actual syncing is still being done by the brain dead Samsung Contacts app, which cannot be uninstalled. It apparently does download the groups data element from Gmail contacts, but fails to do anything with it.
When I tried jp3 2.2 firmware the google groups showed, looks like it will be fixed in the 2.2 update.
Thanks for the answers. Displaying only contacts with phone numbers helps, and if the group thing is fixed in Froyo, thats alright for me.
Now I only need to convert my phone contacts to Google contacts, there should be an easy options like Phone to SIM and vice versa, but I could not find it. Looks like I may have to do it by hand.
This is like the only bad thing for me. Do more people confirm that it is fixed in Froyo?

Haxsync and contacts, weird issue...

So I have haxsync on my phone so i can pull in Facebook Photos to my phone. I worked good till i recently got a nexus 7 v2 and installed haxsync on it. My contacts except for a handful got dumped off my phone when i installed haxsync on my tablet and synced it. For some reason i've always had issues since i got this phone and my contacts. I use hotmail and even when i create a contact on my phone, it will sometimes add the contact to my hotmail contacts and sometimes not. That goes along with editing the contact. Its highly frustrating as my windows phone and apple phones have synced flawlessly with my email contact. As my email contacts is the only place where my contacts are backed up.

Fb Sync with Calendar Events and Contacts?

I have read thst fb stopped syncing with android over a year ago... but is there a workaround for the s7 edge? I recently upgraded from S4 on which i used the hax sync app from the play store to sync birthdates and events. I also had my contacts pics synced which was very helpful. Any ideas? Btw i was really digging syncme; seemed kinda cumbersome

Outlook account not recognized by Google Calendar

Hello,
I am searching for a solution to a strange problem. Recently switched from a Samsung s5 (Marshmallow) to Moto G5+ (Nougat). For some reason, this OS does not recognize my Outlook account for Google Calendar to access. All it currently sees is my Gmail account. Even though I have added it, all the Accounts show in Setup are my FB, Twitter, Yahoo, and Google accounts. No Outlook. When I go to add it I get, "This email address is already connected with Outlook. Do you want to connect it again with another service?"
Outlook app works just fine in recognizing the account. Outlook Agenda widget works. But I prefer the look of Google Calendar widget. And I was able to get two Outlook accounts and a Gmail account to work on previous system's Google Calendar. Just can't get it to work on the new.
Did I run across a bug, or just user error? Any advise on getting this working again would be greatly appreciated.
