What is the difference between G928C and G928F? - Galaxy S6 Edge+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I know that G928F is european and G928C is Asian. However, what exactly is the difference? I'm asking because previously the processors used to be different. However, Samsung have put the same processor in all of the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.
P.S. Which GB did you get? 32GB or 64GB?

Mainly the Modem and the bands it supports is what's different between these models, at times companies also include Country specify features like LG G3 had TV antenna for Korea version, but that's rare. Apart from that if you buy it from a specific carrier they also might some say, for instance Samsung pay not working on Verizon models.
So, for the most part it's almost identical except modem.
I got 32 as 64 isn't available in my country (yet?) But boy I love this phone, killer looks and display with an awesome camera.

I just got G928G, and on it's box there's a sticker "American SIM card only". Does it mean that it wouldn't work in Ukraine?

Anyone know what the different models of the S7 Edge are going to be? If precise information (bands, capacity, dual sim, etc..) can be shown this could be useful.
Thanks

The main difference is in the CPU/GPU and different radio chips i presume. The America`s will have the SD 820 cpu and Europe and maybe the rest of the world the Exynos 8890.

Agreed. But i would like to have more info. Like the note 5 has so many variants. N920I / C / CD / 9200 / G / K / T etc...
The US, EU and Asians don't have the same bands it could be tricky for the buyer who is in a hurry to buy the wrong one.
I can't seem to find the different models online.

Check eBay if you are in a hurry, there is I think 1 more for grabs of the g935fd. Apparently the second SIM slot can also be used for sdcard in case you don't need the second SIM.... But that is still to be checked.

It can definitely be used as SD if you wish. Go to samsung.com and switch to Indonesia. Find out more on s7 and edge, click on hardware and scroll down, and you will see dual sim.
I have tried the same with a few European countries and yet to find one with dual sim.

It's indeed funny that the Swiss site only shows the SD and doesn't mention the dual sim (i'm from CH like you).
I just called Swisscom, and they had no idea if it was possible...So i contacted Samsung Switzerland and they told me that the phones sold in Switzerland will only have the possibility of having 1 sim and 1 SD (G935F EUR model), and that the second slot will not be able to take an extra SIM (they could be wrong). So the G935FD is going to be a rare beast...
the G935F is going to host the Exynos (which we all knew i guess)
I've been reading a lot about dual Sim phones recently. Correct me if I'm wrong but to my understanding it is not enough that is is hardware-ready, it needs 2 IMEIs as well.
Let's take the recent Galaxy A series for example, they all have a hybrid tray SIM1 + SIM2/SDCard but they are being restricted here in Germany (and probably elsewhere). Being sold as single SIM capable
If we take the previous Galaxys like the S5 Duos (G900FD) and the Note 5 (N920CD) for reference, the SM-G935FD will most probably be sold in the UAE and will support Europeans LTE Bands 3, 7 and 20.
Are all these international phones locked to local carriers? You can't buy a UK 935f and pop a US AT&T sim in it, right?

I'm pretty sure you'll have to get the Verizon model as Verizon is a CDMA network and the international model is GSM and won't work (it'd work on AT&T and T-Mobile as they are GSM networks). Even if it did work you'd have to consider what frequencies/bands the international model supports vs what your carrier uses (and it seems that's not been specified yet, at least not on GSMArena, unless all versions supports all the same frequencies/bands).

I'd be careful
I am still looking into comparing the US Snapdragon variant of the Samsung Galaxy S8+ vs the International variant with the Exynos chip. I will say the Exynos chip usually works a lot better than the snapdragon on a samsung phone. Which makes sense since it is a Samsung chip. The real world speed tests for the Exynos and benchmark tests usually outdo the snapdragon.
With that said, frequency bands need to be compared. Because obviously the international variant will not work for Sprint or Verizon. Furthermore, there are LTE bands to worry about for T-Mobile and AT&T. And I can not seem to verify the bands for the international variant. From what I remember for the S7 International variant, there was no LTE band 12 which T-Mobile uses for their new LTE band. It didn't matter much before but now this band is being used for low-band spectrum which is for inside buildings and rural long distance connections. This band is expanding.
Therefore, I want to first see the real word speed tests (because snapdragon upped their game a bit) and confirm the frequency bands which seems to be harder than I thought. Frequencycheck seems to think the INternational variant has Band 12 but are they reliable this early?
Anyway, can anyone confirm the LTE bands for the International G955F variant? Maybe I need to search in German or French.

World S8/8+ = 4gb RAM 64gb ROM -vs- China S8/8+ = 6gb RAM 128gb ROM

Ouch! Why will there be a difference?
"China to Get High-End Version of Galaxy S8+ with 6GB RAM & 128GB ROM"
Could it be that the market has more competitive Phone choices?
I was looking for the 128Gb version because I kept seeing it would be released and the only version Tmobile is releasing is the 64Gb version. Seemed odd.
I think its retarded too, they should of just sold one model (6GB RAM/128GB) worldwide. When I had a Mate 9, I had to buy the CHN version for 6/128 compared to the normal 4/64. I might have to do it again if the CHN version supports all of TMO LTE bands. One thing I've experienced with CHN vs US phones is I get better reception with the US version even though the CHN supports all of TMO bands.
It's costs, it's probably cheaper over there, the price increase for 6gb/128gb in the UK would make the S8+ nearly 1000 quid!!!!!
Don't know what's going on... I'm in China and will hopefully grab one once they are up for sale... Worries me that there are no pre orders yet. Also... Needs to have an exact HK variant. If they aren't the same model as the HK variant, then I won't be able to exchange firmware, and then there is no way I will put myself through the torture of a phone without Google.NO WAY! I guess I'd wait until summer to pick up the 4gb version in my home country... Probably the metaphorical smoke will have cleared by then and things will have calmed down a bit to see what battery life is like. Worried I'll purchase another battery lemon like what happened to my 6p... Man, that battery died in a year and a bit.

Chinese model = no warranty so thats a deal breaker for me
6GB vs 4GB RAM you probably wont notice the difference in real world use
You can buy a 128GB SD card for much less than the difference in RRP between world and chinese models
Finally will the chinese model support the LTE bands required for your region and carrier?
Too many unknowns for me
it my have a global modem that supports all bands (bar cdma in the sd 835). agree, you wont notice much of a difference between 4/6 gb...
Will 6gb affect battery life in a negative way? I still doubt this will happen, but nonetheless, don't mind investigating thoughts on this matter.
Things to remember if you get the CHN version is no warranty, stuck on CHN ROM unless you root and install a different ROM and possible no wifi calling if your US carrier supports it.

I agree that being stuck on CHN firmware is a horror show if you are not a Mandarin/Chinese language user.
From another perspective, so long as there is a HK firmware for SAME model number, you should be able to change firmware to HK firmware from CHN Firmware using ODIN. Pretty simple process. I have managed to do this on several Samsung phones no worries. Only with the C7 (2016) did I recently come across some weirdness that was solved by an XDA member who prescribed a relatively painless ordering of ODIN processes.
However, Samsung used to have weird China only models that did not have a HK firmware variant... which completely sucked - My Note 4, SN-9108v was a horrible experience due to this firmware and model isolation practice. Also, there are some phones that are only sold in China and only come again with Chinese Firmware (possibly the C9 pro (2017) is an example - can't remember). If Samsung have chosen the same isolationist Chinese model practice for s8, then avoid it like the plague... You'll be buying into a joyless and expensive sans google experience that will only be tolerable with decent Mandarin skills to enjoy the plethora of Chinese app store equivalents to google.
At this stage, I cannot find any reliable links to Chinese and HK model numbers. Perhaps a Chinese based Mandarin XDA user can clarify. I am very interested in preordering this mythical Chinese s8+, but I am not in the industry and am a little time poor in terms of being able to research this. There certainly seems to be very little reputable information (in English) or easily found reputable information (via translate) that details exactly when or how pre-orders in China or HK will operate. Just unsubstantiated re-reported links and news stories about the 6Gb variant and blah blah blah.
Would be really great to hear from someone legitimately more informed than me in this matter.
Cheers!

SM-G955NZKESKO/
That is because China has many local brands provide adequate device with only one third price. If you can maximum your specks. You will fail there!
Nope. I'm off the Sammy train. Thinking Xperia xz premium
Read an article that says Samsung is mulling over bringing the 6Gb to the US and other markets besides China / Korea. If this happens I would like to know who made the original not to release in other markets so I can kick then in the nuts.
I don't care if it is 4GB or 6. Just so long as it is NOT Snapdragon. Speed tests seem to already be confirming that the typical $#!++y ram management is still present in the Snapdragon S8 and S8+ phones. Also; If I were to buy the Snapdragon model, I would not be able to activate mobile hot spot on Cricket. You can with International phones (Exynos).

Which Samsung S5 Model is the best to buy?

Recently i wanted to buy a S5 second hand or refurbished. But wasn't sure which model was the best to buy.
Also which model of the S5 has the most XDA Developer Support right now?
That's hard to answer. I'll make a note so short summary of all the S5 for you, so you can choose one instead
Start with the ordinary Galaxy S5 model (G900F). The most popular variant, with tons of development support, has the standard SD801 and 2GB RAM. Do note that, since the G900F itself has many carrier variant, you might want to avoid the Verizon/AT&T model (G900V/A), due to locked bootloader. Any other variant falls under the klte category will be fine. Also get the FD model if you want dual SIM support. Fun fact: Sprint has an all blue variant (not just blue cover with black front)
Next is the Exynos model (G900H). Only released in Asian countries, this variant had a lot of potential, if it wasn't for the lack of LTE (which makes it the #1 contender for the worst S5 ever) Development is surprisingly good for an Exynos phone, probably only behind the international S3. Also has a dual SIM variant.
Also available is the S5 Broadband LTE-A aka G906S/K/L (whoever named it like this must be drunk) which is the S5 everyone dreamt for. Quad HD screen, Snapdragon 805, 3GB RAM LTE-A support, blah blah blah. Even the Sony IMX240 sensor, the same one on the Note 5 is here too (don't expect picture quality to be the same though due to different aperture and software and whatnot) Only released in Korea through Koreans' Big Three Carrier thought (no, not your Korea, GTFO Kim Jong-Un). Which is the reason why development sucks big time (since it is some of the rarest S5 available), only behind the S5 Sport/Active model. Without @cvxda and @bjnmonkey77, this device would've been on the same club as the LG V10. Rest in peace.
*Also, Samsung did release another LTE-A (called LTE+) capable variant of the S5 in Singapore and Europe. This one only has the SD805 though, everything else is the same as the klte variant. Development is a bit better, but not much.*
Can't forget the Neo model though. Basically the refreshed S5 without the water flap (yay!), better selfie camera, a new front camera and the brand new (for the era) Exynos 7580. Although lacking the removable battery and the development support of the klte S5 (boo!), the newer TouchWiz UI and a planned Nougat update more than makes up for it. Even if Samsung says "**** you" the device, porting Nougat from the A5 2016 should be easy, since both has the same Exynos SoC.
Last is the S5 Active/Sport model. The Active is exclusive to AT&T, while the Sport is Sprint's answer to AT&T's Active (the irony). Both are some of the hardest-hitting S5 available, while are also even rarer than the LTE-A variant. Development is pretty much non-existent, not even sure whether root is available or notz can't check sorry
I guess that's it lol. What a long answer (silly me). Sorry if you find it confusing, since my S5 only have like 3% left, and it was 11PM here. And enjoy I guess. XD.
Also XDA, swap your font plox. Looks like it's from 2010 ;;

Also XDA, swap your font plox. Looks like it's from 2010 ;;

Woah. Didn't expect such a long anwser tbh. So the G900F is the best one to get for development support. Thanks. I will check if it is a carrier variant or internation. Can't really get the G900H, im in UK.
I knew the S5 had a lot of models but didn't it had this many tbh.
It's Samsung dude. Also glad to help you ^^

Weird question. What's the best S5 ever?
The following parameters are needed for the answer:
- in which network you're going to use it,
- if you really need LTE,
- if you really need root,
- how much money you're going to spend.
Generally, "F" variant is the best for UK because it supports B3, B7, B20 LTE bands, but it's the most expensive. I'd say, 3-5 times more expensive than "V", for example.

G900F variant supposes unlocked bootloader.
Vodafone version may mean a branded firmware (can be replaced with unbranded for the same variant) and network lock, probably.
Root should definitely be possible.

You're welcome.
I've just bought yet another G900V for $36...

The matter is that I can repair something.
That's why the latest 4 G900Vs were bought for $25-$65.
The problem is to find device with good LCD.

S5 Mini or S5 Neo
Hi,
I currently own a Samsung Galaxy S (yes no trailing number)!!!!
I am looking to replace it with either a Galaxy S5 Mini or a Galaxy S5 Neo, I'm not really sure which one to go for and I hope someone here can give me some advice as to which one is the best phone, from a reliability / performance / ease of use / battery life perspective.
Thanks in advance!!!

New motherboard

So my motherboard is toast (yes, I'm positive) and I'm shopping around for a used one. Since I'm pretty sure all versions of the S8 use the same internal layout & connectors I can probably put any version motherboard in as its replacement.
That being said, which model motherboard would be my best bet for the following:
-Must support T Mobile USA (all the bands they utilize) if unlocked
-Has the best ROM support
a third bonus would be having great worldwide band support since I travel, given it's already covered my first requirement (having all t mo band support).
Thanks.
Well your kinda hindered a little bit because you have to go for the snapdragon variant of the board.
There is root but there are issues with it, and as far as I know not many people are developing roms for the snapdragon variant.
Also the snapdragon variant probably isn't going to work world wide, just like the exynos version doesn't support American bands, the US variant won't work in European countries

Are you sure they aren't pin compatible? I'd be somewhat surprised if Samsung actually had two board produced (but maybe). If this is confirmed by teardown or whatever then thanks for the info
