Coming from a GS6E. On the plus notifications aren't dismissing. For example I read an email on desktop and later go to my phone and I still have the Gmail email notification. Is it an Android 5.1 thing or just my plus?

Hi All,
Got my Nexus 7 in Dublin Airport T2 Dixons yesterday with no queues, fuss or drama, no pre orders to worry about, just walked up and paid... love it so far however one little issue i have.
Adding the Gmail widget is fine. Inbox emails show all is good in the world. If I put it to sleep and then open after a few mins the emails in the widget do not show... just blank!!!!! any ideas. The gmail account is fine and all emails in here but the widget just seems faulty.
Thanks
Darren
I use that widget with no problems at all,are you using the stock launcher?

Just tried it on mine and when adding the widget, it prompts which label (or folder, e.g. Inbox, sent, etc.). I picked Inbox and like yourself nothing showed up although I have 3 read emails in my Inbox. So I flagged one as unread again and removed and re-added the widget and hey presto all 3 emails show. Now when I actually read the email the 3 emails still show, all greyed out as read. Looks like a little bug in the code to me ?
Same issue on new Nexus 7

I don't have this issue under 4.1.2 on my Galaxy Note 2 but I can reproduce it under CyanogenMod 4.2.2 on a Galaxy Nexus and on my brand new 2nd Gen Nexus 7. When I add the widget it works fine. Go to sleep and it turns blank.
I've got the same issue in motorola RAZR M and samsung S4. The problem is that for some reason the gmail force closes in the background (i see a error) and then the widget goes blank. I use apex launcher and no task killer apart from swiping away the apps using default app switcher.
I got a Gmail app update this morning and after the update my Gmail notifications started working normally! Finally, since around November my notifications stopped working properly. (even though last week Google claimed a fix was in that didn't require an app update or software update)
But I noticed something strange, if you do not open the notification from the pull down menu immediately, the time of the notification will change to the current time.
This morning I had two notifications (same email but one with Gmail and one with Cloud Magic) and they both had the same time. I didn't actually click on the notification right away so when I went back to the phone it showed my Gmail notification time ten minutes after the Cloud Magic one. Thought it was odd because they came in at the same time. Noticed it happening all day with my notifications, gmail time of notification would change but the other email app notification showed the time it came in.
What version of Gmail do you have?

Hey all,
So which is the best email app to use on a P8, my son has purchased one of these phones now but has Gmail (3 accounts), Outlook, AOL and want an app that will run all his emails accounts in 1 app. As I only have a Gmail account I use the stock app in Lollipop but he's running Marshmallow so thats no good as it doesn't work.
Cheers

Thanks, he installed Aquamail and added all his accounts, even though it was in protected app's when the phone went into standby it didn't give him any notifications when emails arrived, he didn't know he had any emails until he picked up his phone to access it.
So whats the deal? I thought it was only stock gmail that didn't work but it seems when the phone goes into standby it does nothing, is there anyway to turn off the "doze" mode?

Hey, install latest B321 Marshmallow, its fixed in there. :good:
But the phone is not rooted and from what I understand B321 can only be installed on a rooted phone???
So is the gmail flaw fixed on B321 then or does it still not give notifications when in standby?
I use Mail.ru and it serve me well.
Just make sure to protect it from going off in Phone Menager-protected apps.

you dont need root, its official update, you can wait to receive it or you can install it manualy, its safe and it has fixed notifications aswell:good:
i use bluemail totaly in love with it
I'm using K9 all works
To me it is BbHub that I use regularly. A complete overview about my emails, calls, texts, WhatsApp, Twitter or Facebook. A must have for me on daily basis.
Hello. Please, when i double click in gmail notification in aod, i read email but if i reopen app, the email is yet unreaded. When i delete a email from gmail app, random sync with gmail web page... Is this a known bug??? I repaet, random, not always and i din't understand why... Can anyome help me? Thanks
Nobody uses Gmail???
This is not a problem with the S8 but with Android Nougat. Its also not only Gmail related its all notifications on nougat are broken The best way to get SOME notifications back is to go to settings/apps/hamburger menu/special access/optimize battery usage/ and uncheck EVERYTHING. Next step is to (with root) use the app "Root- Push Notification Fixer" and set intervals to lowest possible settings. You will still not get all of them but at least you will get some of them..
Another fix is to install nova launcher and teslaunread to show bubbles on your icons when you have new notifications for that app. I have mine setup for about 7 apps and I ALWAYS get the bubble hours or days before a notification ever comes in (if they ever do).
In order to fix the issue specifically with gmail I use a different email app. I use aquamail, but there are a few good ones out there. I don't have notification or synching issues. I don't use the email on the phone a lot, a few times a day. I found a great improvement over using gmail.
