HI Guys,
I've recently installed the PumpkinAuto 4.4.4 unit,
I am using Nova Launcher instead of the standard one.
Not rooted (yet)
I'm also using Doubletwist as my media player as it syncs perfectly with iTunes over WiFi
I Use the Tasker app to achieve most things that were bugging me. Like the radio app stays on when you play media,
so It now is closed when the media player starts. and the media player pauses when the RAdio starts.
The main bug is that the unit and tasker will not send the media command to Doubletwist to pause music when you key-off.
I've tried all things I can think of with Tasker, "Event" or "State", display off, display not on, power off, power not on, daydream, sleep, etc
but nothing will send a pause command when you key off or hold the Off button on the unit.
I assume it's due to the machine actually sleeping before the command can be sent?
Any help would be appreciated.
The other small issue is I'd like to be able to change is the Text size, as due to the smaller resolution of the unit (800pix) you do a lot of scrolling up and down.
I've previously had 7" tab 2's installed and am happy with the small text.
thanks in advance

I love using a2dp in my car stereo... sound quality is great, and I love carrying my tunes wirelessly from the Mogul to the car speakers (Sony BT25000 stereo head unit installed in car).
Only problem is that I try to keep the screen off to save battery power, but everytime I press a command on my stereo (pause, next, previous, etc...), it wakes up the phone and I need to screen toggle it off again each time!
This is very annoying, so I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this problem, and is there a workaround?
I was thinking of writing some sort of MortScript to constantly check if the screen is on, and if so apply a screen toggle command, but it seems like this may create the problem of an infinity loop when I DO want to use it (turn on device, mortscript turns off screen off right away, repeat). Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Either use CorePlayer instead or install a screensaver program like slide2lock

Why would Slide2Unlock be any better than the regular locking feature that comes built in to WM? Slide2 is slick looking, but isn't it just a fancy interface for something that is done natively (and with less memory overhead)? I've never used it so maybe I've got the wrong idea, but it doesn't seem to address my problem here, which is that I want to keep the screen off (not just prevent screen taps) to save my battery!
Are you sure that CorePlayer won't wake up as well? I'm under the impression that the OS is waking it up, regardless of whether I'm using Windows Media Player or not.
I'd love to be wrong about both of these points, so can anyone confirm any of this?
CorePlayer doesn't wake the screen when using AVRCP. Try it and see.
Problem is, Coreplayer costs $$, and I can't justify buying it since TCPMP is free (and is modded to play native streaming youtube, which I beleive the coreplayer version does not do at the moment), and Media Player works with A2DP as well as Voice Command (can cue up songs by saying them... Example: "Play Dream Theater" or "Next Track"- but this works only with WMP).
So, I've gotten used to using both players in different situations and intend to keep using them both, so you can understand why paying for a "third" media player seems a bit silly.
I tried using Slide2Unlock since it had some features to shut off the screen after 5 seconds, which should do the trick for me (when the device wakes up from a command, it would shut back off after a few seconds).
This works well in theory, but the problem is that when the screen wakes up from a remote media command, the slide2unlock seems to lose focus, and is no longer the active program running in the foreground, because it does NOT shut the screen back off! If I tap the screen (which theoretically makes Slide2Lock the active app again), then it works, but having to tap the screen each time isn't any better than before... doesn't this negate the purpose of having it here?
Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Maybe I'll have to try having 3 media players (sigh)... its nice having options on Windows Mobile, but there should be a better way!
solved!!
Mortplayer to the rescue!
Holy cow that Mort guy thought of EVERYTHING!
Mortplayer supports AVRCP and has a setting to shut the screen in a matter of seconds if there is no activity!
It also has a very small memory footprint, and has a lot of great controls (remembers the track and last location since last time program closed, very skinnable, has a today plugin, etc...), just WOW... all for free?!
I still have tcpmp for video and windows media for voice command, but I don't mind having mortplayer as my primary audio player, especially since its so great and the price is right!
Anyone with my problem should get this app ASAP.
Hello
i need to know if there is any possibility to continue the playing of the windows media player when i turn off my mobile phone (so that the touchscreen can not be used, but phone still on)
the problem is that im going to work every morning and plugin my earphones to turn on the music for the way. i leave the phone in my jacket and because it is not turned off so you can use the touchscreen it happens very often that the touchscreen is touched and that the song turns louder, the next song comes, aso..... i do not like this, this is why i ask for a configuration that i save the screen so it cant be touched and i can hear music at the same time.
is there anything out?
You can set a key to disable the screen by using the "Menu" "Options..." "Keys" menu.
The last item (not sure, I'm using a french WM) is about Activating/Deactivating the screen.
Hope this will help you.
Another option is to use a bluetooth headset, which will keep the music playing even when you hit the power button. Another thing to consider would be a program such as Slide 2 Unlock, which can turn off the lcd according to a preset delay, but I'm not sure if media player would keep playing or not. Good luck!
I just use the audioprogram from htc with batterystatus, when I turn my phone off. the music keeps playing and my screen is off and keys locked
yea, the new HTC audio manager plugin (touchflo cab) allows you to turn off the screen while still playing the music. its a plus as a really nice audio player also.
Just assign a button in WMP to "Toggle Screen" this will do what youre looking for. No need for an entirely new media player.

Sorry to Bump this up but can someone tell me how to listen to music in audio manager while screen is off please, i searched and searched and the only answers i see are use another player (which I dont wantm I orefer audio manager) and "mine works when my screen is off" (thanks for the help???) Did anyone have the same problem as me and fix it? Thanks in advance
Play Media Player while phone is (otherwise) off.
I had a ROM loaded on my phone that allowed MS Mediaplayer to stay active while my Tilt was 'off'. In fact, it was listed as a feature of that ROM. So I know that it's possible. Someone knows how to do it.
I use my music player quite a lot, and am looking for ways to improve on the experience on Android phones.
What I wish to do is to be able to control the music in the following ways, regardless of whether the screen is turn off or on, and regardless of whether the music program is running in the foreground or background.
- long press volume up button: go to next song
- long press volume down button: goo to previous song
- press both button together: toggle between play and pause.
- normal volume up and down still controls the volume
I found a program in the market place, but it only works when the music player is in the foreground, and the screen must be on.
I use this feature a lot on my iPhone before bed, and hope I can do the same on my SGS.
Is there such a program you're aware of in the Market place?
that's interesting
however, I find it easier using my Bluetooth A2DP for that sort of things.
it works both in my car and my stereo headset
i can remote control the play of the music before/next, stop, pause, play, random, volume, etc
best is, if a phone comes in, it automatically switches to phone mode, and when the call is over, it resumes back to music mode.
The only single problem i've found is, i don't know now to answer the 2nd call via bluetooth, if 2 people are calling me at the same time.
I don't use Bluetooth. Also, I love connecting the music player to a proper sounding speaker system in my bedroom and lounge.
Hey guys have a very specific issue.
I have a galaxy note 3 with sprint. My car is subaru impresa 2013.
The issue is when my phone connects to the car media through blue tooth. When I turn on my car the phone pairs automatically. And the music starts playing right away. The phone determine which app to use based on a which app I used to play music last time. Right now I using the Samsung music app and Google Music app.
Issue 1
When the music is playing occasionally you hear a crackling noise for a second. Which kind of disturbs the flow of the music. I monitored the phone to see if it was any sort of notifications that would trigger the interruption but no notifications happen at that time. I also went to blue tooth settings and only enabled the media Audio profile. That did not seem to fix the issue. This lead to a the second issue.
issue 2
When the phone is playing music while connected to the car media it would stop the music and not play. At that point the phones home button stops working. So you cannot go back to the main screen unless you restart (pull the battery the power button does not work either) the phone or use the back button to the right of home button.
Issue 3
When the phone connects to the car media automatically car media does not read the song info. For example artist and title. I have to restart the blue tooth in order for that info to appear on the car media screen. This also presents you from changing songs from your wheel buttons.. basically if you can see the song info on the car screen then you can switch songs. If you cannot see the song info on the car screen then you can't use the controls to switch songs.
Please if any one know what's going on I would appreciate your input... I have few more days to swap the phone if this is hardware issue.
I installed the Sony XAV-AX200 system in my vehicle a few days ago. Coming from a very traditional car stereo that was not smart in any way, that only did CD, radio, and mp3, this is a very different experience. I've been learning the quirks of this system, and I thought that perhaps if I organized my observations here, it might benefit someone thinking of this system. Feel free to add, answer questions, etc. I intend to update/add as I observe more.
This was installed in a 2004 vehicle with no "smart" anything, no steering wheel controls, nada. My unit has been flashed to the firmware version 1.01, published May 10, 2018, available at the Sony support page.
The Good:
Sounds great
Works well with factory Pioneer amp/speakers/subwoofer.
Decent radio reception
Plays FLAC and mp3 files from usb flash drive
Works with both Android Auto and Car Play
Real volume knob and forward/back buttons
The Quirks:
There is no power button. There is no way to turn this system off. Has anyone ever wired a switch into the power line, to give them a way to actually turn these "smart" stereos off? I'm considering it.
If you do not manually go into a menu, then select to turn off current source, before you turn off the ignition, whatever you had playing last time will auto play when you start the car. There seems to be no way to disable this obnoxious behavior. You just get blasted with whatever, when you turn on the key.
Mp3 and flac files only play from your phone or from a usb flash drive. They will not play from a CD-R disc. This is truly bizarre.
Tips:
Works with a USB 3.0 hub, with a few caveats. I have a small Targus USB 3 hub plugged into the port on the back of the unit, and then two dash ports plugged into the hub. Either a flash drive (full of FLAC files so far) or my Android phone will work if plugged into either dash-mounted port.
However, if you have a flash drive that is hooked up through the hub, playing music, and then you also plug in your Android phone through the hub, Android Auto takes over.
While the music you have already playing from the flash drive will keep playing in the background, and indeed further music files in the folder keep playing (if you don't start playing something from your phone), you lose all access to control the music.
The USB icon disappears from the home screen as long as your Android phone is plugged in.
While the music from the flash drive will keep playing indefinitely (if you don't play media from your phone) when you unplug your phone, the music from the flash drive will stop until you tap the "USB" icon on your home screen, and it will not resume from where it was, but will start at the beginning of the drive, alphabetically.
Album art does work, but you must turn it on in the settings on the unit. Album art displays as a background image while music is playing from a usb drive.
At least on the FLAC files I've been playing, album art only seems to work if it is 400x400 pixels in size or smaller, and is embedded into the file's tags. folder.jpg files in the album folders are ignored, and larger embedded images are also not displayed on the unit.
I had some albums in FLAC format that would not play. This turned to be due to the way they were saved. I had to open them in an audio editing app and export them as 96 kHz, 24 bits files, which is the max this unit can play.
XAV-AX200 and Android 9 Pie
EDIT: This only fixed it on the first call. On subsequent calls, it doesn't help.
FYI, in case someone else experiences this: After my phone (Essential Ph-1) updated to Android 9, Pie, the next time I connected to my XAV-AX200 via Bluetooth, while talking on the phone, there was horrible roar of feedback every time the phone call was routed through the stereo by Bluetooth. I solved this problem by turning the microphone gain from medium to low on the stereo. Hope this helps someone else.
Hi, thank you for sharing, but you better search for the Sony XAV-100 and XAV-200 threads in the android Auto forums and specifically for posts of Superdavex who made all kind of improvements. See also his github repository: https://github.com/superdavex/Sony-XAV-AX100
I guess you find more owners and info there.
To power off the unit, long press (a second or two) on the top left button.

That does not work on the XAV-AX200. It does work on the XAV-AX100.

Not really strange, if you think of this unit as a tablet stuck to the front of a basic CD player.
The CD player plays CD audio, the tablet has no access to the disc, it just changes the audio input when needed.
Yes, it is very strange. My last several very cheap car stereos could do this simple task. If Sony was capable of playing mp3 cdr discs for the last 20 years, they should still be able to do so.
thanks for your tips and information about it.
Help with XAV-AX200 please. Keeps rebooting when connect phone.
I bought is on eBay and updated the firmware to the latest. EVERY TIME I hook up my phone to the USB, it keeps rebooting the unit. I have tried Note 8, Note 4, and iPhone 6. Any ideas short of returning it? I have the unit out on a table to test it using a power supply at 12v. Works fine until connect a phone to the short usb in the back. I have the red/yellow on 12v and the black grounded to the unit.

I have XAV-AX200C2 and the power off function as is stated here works for me.
