Sorry, simple rooting question, S4 - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Sorry to bother, after four hours, my eyes are starting to bleed. I got a new S4 from Cricket (ATT). 4.4.2 outta the box. Am I reading these 3000 threads correctly, there is no root for me? No way to get root access for the device? Is that right?
Thanks

Look for the thread here about simple rooting for 5.0.1 on ATT S4. It uses the desktop version of KingRoot.
I haven't figured out how to post a good link to another thread in Tspatalk.

[Q] Current Working Root Process for AT&T SGH 1337

I just purchased my AT&T SGH 1337 today. I read where the MotoChopper process would work for rooting but have not seen any recent threads where someone has successfully used it especially after the update that just came out from AT&T. I am not wanting to immediately put on a new rom just want to be able to put some programs on that require root. I hope I dont get flamed. I did a google search and couldnt find anything recent. Any information an assiatance would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Please note the updated threads with this information. After the MF3 OTA update for the Verizon and AT&T S4, there is a new method for gaining root access.

[Q] Galaxy S4 Root

Hey guys.. So I have never really successfully rooted a phone yet but I really need to root this Sprint Galaxy S4. I know there was an OTA update a few days ago so I am concerned that the instructions I am looking at might brick my phone. Is there anyone that could please link me to a thread that will help me successfully root this S4.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for helping me guys!! I just went ahead and Chainfire's rooting method. It was actually easier than I thought it would be. Now I have one last question for you. The whole reason I rooted my device was because I want to use my "Unlimited Data' that I get through Sprint to tether to my laptop. Which app do you guys suggest to do this?
Thanks again!! You guys/gals are awesome!!
Check in dev section. Crawjs hotspot hack. The old versions 3.0 of PDA net work great for USB tether

Noob here and I got questions

If this is in the wrong part of the forum please move it.
So I just got a s4. Switched over from iPhone 5. I blindedly updated to the MF3 firmware. Ive read the sticky threads and managed to root my phone.
But now I'm completely clueless on what I can do. I'm basically in to android for theming but I'm guessing I need a custom Rom.
I also want to get rid of the AT&T bloat ware. How do I do that?
Thanks guys.
Sorry if it's sounds so dumb but this is my first time using android.

Read the "software update" thread. The "sticky" threads you read also have information or lead to information that can help you. Doing a search of the sub forums should get you a lot of results as well. All of the answers you asked are in those threads.
And yes, this should be in the Q & A section, however, for future reference, please use the search function or look at the related topics that appear while posting to find answers before posting in any section. Good luck.

The new phones should already come with MF9. At the least MDL. If they don't do the update at best buy you can do it yourself. It is very easy. And rooting is a sinch..just use Auto root and there is a video tutorial by QBKing77 that is stickiedm follow directions and you can root within 5 mins.

[Q] Newb question -installed a ROM for a different phone

Hey guys....
So I had a bunch of trouble rooting my phone, finally got it done.
But now.. I have come to realize that I installed a ROM for a different phone..
I have a SGH-I337M and my phone now says under model number GT-I19505G..
Everything seems to be working fine right now.. question is. Is this a problem? Did I screw up? Did I get lucky in not bricking my phone and should be more careful next time?
Thanks in advance..

Instead of asking a bunch of questions (in the wrong forum) you need to read and learn about things before you do them. You can start by reading the "pinned" threads in the general and q & a sections. Good luck.
Yes you're being very lucky for not screwing your phone. From now on make sure that you flash the right room for your phone. Read the forum us much as you can

Lol your on point right there with all of those questions. Well he might have flashed a correct working ROM just doesn't know it because it says something else than what he's use to.

Looks like you flashed an international rom. You might want to look into the galaxy s4 forums (not the att or canadian s4 forums) for more info on that rom and whether or not your gonna have issues
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
It's my perception that he has a rogers Canadian phone which is our forum. If I remember correctly, the 1337m can be flashed with some international roms and still be fine. I don't think he has the google s4. So OP I'd advise you to check out the development threads regarding the Canadian s4, but I think you're fine because the unlocked Canadian phone can be flashed with some international roms.

I just don't understand how so many ppl flash wrong Roms. This might sound harsh but if your flashing a wrong ROM then maybe this isn't for you or at least "read up". This is the reason I'm yet to flash a ROM on my gs4. I'm on MF3, I havent read up enough on using SS and the particular Roms my phone can use.
brought to you by my not so sexy GS4 MF3
