Newbie Questions! - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone. So, this week my LG G2 is arriving and as i don't like stock roms cause of its bloatware and stuff, i want to make the processes to change to a good, smooth and fast ROM to get the maximum performance of this amazing phone.
i'm not a newbie on changing roms, but i AM newbie on this device. my old one was a motorola razr HD xt925 which for start i had to unlock bootloader to be able to flash any custom roms...so i gotta ask here, cause i didnt find a good thread for this (IF there is one, please post here!)
1 - is it needed to unlock bootloader first?
2 - when the phone arrives, what are the processes to direclty flash a custom rom?
3 - idk if this kind of question is allowed, but is there a ROM that stands out for better performance of the device? i like to play high graphic games!
obs: it's a D805.
for now that's it.
thanks guys!

[Q] L7 - Stock Jelly Bean Root / Stable Rom Recommendations

EDIT: Used Framaroot (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2130276) and it seems to have worked fine. Think I am also happy with this stock rom. Sorry for making this post without taking enough time first.
Hi,
Just got an L7 (P700) today and been looking around at Roms but nothing really grabbed me. Installed CWM but then decided to just update to JB using the LG Support Tool.
Firstly I can't seem to find any details on rooting the JB update. Is it just the same "What you desire!" tool or can I not find it for a reason?
Secondly, I can't really find any decent recommendations for roms because the people asking are normally incomprehensible. I would like a rom that is going to be stable with everything working and will not need updating. Ideally it would be CM but any JB rom that is stable I would be interested in. Most of them seem to be in quite heavy development with frequent updates and I would feel I was missing out by not getting them.
Sorry for wasting peoples time with these simple questions and thanks for any responses.

Aoson m1013
Hello Everybody
Can anyone make a nice custim rom for AOSON M1013?
Is it possible for someone to make a cwm and custom ROM for Konka V976 ?
OK this is not a requests thread. This is the forum for the Motorola Defy.
We need S7390G rom (any! custom or stock)
Hi,
We are a little group of French (& European) users, and we have a lot of troubles with our Galaxy Fresh. We tried to mod our phones a little, but we are unable to find a custom rom/stock rom/custom recovery or whatever matching with the devices. [Most of us have S7390G (and I think some have S7390E too)]
On SamMobile, the only Rom are S7390 without letters, and apparently it soft-bricked our devices.
Please we really need it, and it's a bit unfair because android users can mod their phones but us. Please, we need a S7390G stock (or custom)
 Thank you very very very much.
I know it's supposed to be a challenge for developper, and it's probably too easy, but we keep hoping.
If you want to make a good action
Or maybe we should propose you a real challenge, around the S7390G Rom, but for now, I have no ideas.
Mods could you guys close this thread?

ROM suggestion for LG G2 (D802)

Hi, first of all, im getting my phone tomorrow so I havnt tried any ROMs yet. But I am familiar to the whole xda thing thanks to my Galaxy S2. I hope someone can help out
Im looking for a custom ROM that meets the following needs (D802 model):
- great battery life!
- lightweight (dont want it to take too much space since I have the 16GB variant)
- pure performance over looks
- stable, no bugs.
Thats pretty much it, which ROM would u guys think would suit me the best? Oh, and one more question. Whats the difference between "G2 Android Development" and "G2 Android Development (D802)" what goes under the first category then? I have the D802 (Europe) model, so I should be looking under D802 right?
I'll be getting the G2 in a few days too and I will try CM12 and see what LG features are missing and can i live without them.
With my experience with the G2 and some of flashing roms...I advise you to do the following: Get twrp recovery and flash CM12...the LG FlashTool that I used to flash it's a horrific little program...always breaking down! I have now 5.0.2 but if I knew I would get twrp recovery and flashed CM12...
It's an excelent ROM and it's so much easy to flash updates or other roms also...
Thanks for the replies. Can you link me the CM12 rom for D802 model, i couldnt find it myself for some reason.
e: found the CM12 ROM, but it appears that its not bug free?
XenonHD looks very promising, has anyone tried it?

If you want the best battery life use stock 20H.
Its lightweight too, if you purge the unneeded apps.
Its fast, if you dont use stock launcher.
Stable and no bugs.
With root, twrp, xdabbeb camera, adblock, xposed modules and works like a charm, its the best for this device.
Lollipop has some bugs, CM12 a lot of them in daily use.
But if you want more try MIUI V6 by gtbluesky. I love it.
Knife.mstr , thanks for the reply!
What about this one. This seems to be stock 4.4.2 but with bloatware already removed. What do you think of this ROM?
About MIUI...I have to admit, it looks really damn good but for some reason I am afraid to try it How does MIUI effect battery, performance (is it fluid), bugs and so on?

I didnt try it, but can be good.
MIUI 's performance is great. Battery is between stock 20h and 30b. Worst as kitkat but better than stock lollipop. (everything is upon usage)
Only few bugs, like music player drains battery a bit (can be freeze), not every xposed modul can be used.
For me the mipop was hard to use at first, but i liked it. (and can be turned off if you not)
If you run into install bugs, like no sensor or bt or wifi, just return to stock, then reinstall it.
Sometimes 4G dosnt work after update, in this case you need to set in hidden menu *#*#4636#*#* to another network, than return to default, thats fix it.
If you use titanium backup, you can freeze unneded miui apps, like video, or market but use the fun features like deny apps to reach your contacts.

A few thing about threads like this:
These turn into flame wars. Everybody feels their rom is best and will meet your criteria.
Have you searched?
Have you read the features of many different choices?
Have you done your own research on your device?
So here/s the suggestion. read, read, read and then read some more.

Really? Well you should know better than to create such a thread.
Now go out and learn about your new device, as this thread is now closed.

benefits of custom roms for someone who would prefer cyanogenmod?

I was all amped up to finally make the leap from just being rooted (OC3) to installing a custom rom (CM 12.1) and spent a bunch of time researching the process and trying to figure out why my attempts to install a custom recovery were all unsuccessful. Then I came here and discovered why (AT&T locks the bootloader).
Now I'm feeling very deflated. Originally I thought I'd get a Nexus phone but I don't like the new Nexus offerings. The next best alternative to me was to pretty much go AOSP with my S4 (eventually moving to CM 13 once that releases for the S4).
So my main question is this: for someone who was interested in going pretty much as stock Android as possible, what's the best option among roms that I can install on my phone, particularly roms which will continue to give my phone life moving forward in terms of updates (marshmallow and beyond)?
And my secondary question is what, if any, reasons are there for me to install a custom rom if I'm not interested in bling? In other words, what are the functional advantages (e.g. enabling tethering, non-broken xposed, eliminating samsung/at&t bloat, etc)?
Appreciate any info and guidance!
I guess I have a 3rd question - is there any hope that we will ever be able to replace the bootloader and install roms like CM? I have no idea if anyone is working on that and it's just a matter of time or if it's considered to be an impossible task.
I can't answer your first question and I'm not sure why you are asking since you aren't able to install proper custom roms anyway..
You don't need a custom rom for a number of things you mention. Removing bloat can speed up your device, save battery, and put an end to some of the annoyances you get from unwanted apps. Xposed is great for customizing your phone and getting rid of that irritating high volume notification.
Finally, no, there is no hope of unlocking the bootloader. The S4 is old so fewer and fewer people care about it. There is a thread about it in the Verizon s4 forum...
My advice : get rid of your S4. Find a phone that uses stock Android and not all this custom TouchWiz rubbish.
