Has anybody found a way to change recents button to menu button for single press? I thought this would be in options but it seems not. Thanks
Edit: Xposed additions allows it, as far as I can tell, this is the only way for now.
Can you tell which xposed module you used? I've tried several and none seem to work. Thanks!
Could have been GravityBox [LP]:

EDIT: I managed to change my recents button using this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spazedog.xposed.additionsgb&hl=en

I have rooted my Note 3 and remapped the navigation buttons to match the galaxy nexus I came from. Now that I don't have the menu button is there a way (maybe in the build.prop) to enable the onscreen menu button? If not is there a way to enable all onscreen navigation buttons for the note 3? I tried the "qemu.hw.mainkeys=0" approach but it caused system ui to crash. Thanks.
Looking for this as well. Got the same UI crash when adding that kind.
Why would you want to when we have hardware buttons?

I remapped my hardware buttons to match my galaxy nexus onscreen buttons (from left to right: Back, Home, Recent Apps). As you can see I don't have a menu button mapped. A lot of apps have the menu button in the UI but it doesn't show up if your device thinks it has a hardware menu button. So what I am looking for is a way to tell android that I do not have a hardware menu button. Thanks.
could you keep us updated if you find anything? could you make a quick tutorial how you were able to remap the buttons, or does it work exactly like on the s3:

Yes it looks like it is exactly the same. Wish I could have found that guide when I was searching lol.
Do the correct icons appear to the right and left of the home button with this mod?

Unfortunately not. I just turned the touch key lights off in display settings.
Has anyone figured this out yet?

You can either use a custom rom that has the function to remap hardware keys built in or use an xposed module. I believe Wanam has it built in.
Hello everyone!
I am currently using @Lenny Bard's SuperTouchWiz v5 ROM (https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/i9505-develop/rom-untouched-stock-rom-t3419034) and I'm loving the ROM except for one thing:
The leftmost key (to the left of the home button), once short-pressed launches the switch app, the long-press does the menu function (or settings? w/e). I want to swap the two as I am much used to a short press launching the menu function.
Can anyone help or lead me to somewhere which can help me solve my problem? I've been searching around but alas it seems that I cannot fully find the proper solution.
Except for Xposed, there isn't any way to do it. Except if you're a developer.

My installed ROM comes with Magisk manager, any way to make a workaround with it?

Unless there is a Magisk module that allows you to do it, then no.
Well here's what I did which turned the soft press to menu and long press to google search (altho what I wanted was for it to become app switcher but the long press on home button does that already so I guess it's fine )
On system/usr/keylayout/Generic.kl
I replaced Key 139 APP_SWITCH to MENU
and Key 217 to APP_SWITCH
Hi,
Is it possible to invert the functions of the "back" and "multitasking" buttons, modifying a file in "system/usr/keylayout", or something like this?
Yea
GravityBox xposed, but i think some custom roms have this function built-in.

I think not, because the symbols are printed on the phone (I'm talking about touch buttons, not the "on screen" buttons)
I didn't find how to do it, anywhere. But anyway, I don't have got the phone, so I'll try when I'm going to have it
