I'm trying to figure out how to reflash the most current version of android onto the metro variant. Not so much to upgrade the version but to simply do a fresh install. My brother received an update and after a factory reset it's still pretty buggy.
I did research in here but do not see a method for this? Could someone be so kind point me in the right direction?
Thank you

Unrooted my tab and trying to get it back to the latest official version, but I'm having loads of trouble. Please help. Thanks!
My model number is A500, Android version is 3.0.1, kernel version is 2.6.36.3-00001-g44a8bac and build number is Acer_A500_1.145.01_COM_GEN2
This is the tab that best buy had on sale a few weeks/months on sale. Only 8GB of on board storage.
I have found threads with official updates, but don't know which is safe to install. They are all the same version but have different build numbers so I don't know which build number corresponds with my tab
I think I know the answer to this already, but can I jump from 3.0.1 to 3.2.1?
Anyways please help. I do appreciate it.
Thanks!
EDIT: 99 views and no replys? Do you guys not know the answer or are just being jerky? This is seriously my first post let alone question on the acer threads. I usually get things pretty easily, but I am having trouble on this one so it's not like I'm being lazy or asking a stupid question. Can someone help either by providing some answers or let me they don't know how to fix this??
Thanks

Not sure if you're still with us -
interested in knowing why you have not rec'd any OTA before now -unless you've been rooted from the start like i was when i got mine!!!
you also have to be stock, as in factory stock! the update checks a whole lotta stuff before it will install . If the system doesnt stack up the update will fail. So if you have deleted or frozen bloatware apps they will need to be restored, along with modded build props etc. factory data reset and full wipe fixes that problem, but Most people want to keep their data if they can and isn't an option. The update itself should leave everything in place. Mine did.
u need a Gen_2 build. I'm not familiar with your build number or upgrade path for 1.145, but you should receive an OTA for 3.1, 3.2 and the latest 2 for 3.2.1.
if u just wanna install one of the updated custom stock roms with root or cwm, you should be fine with any build and yes you can go straight to 3.2.1 from 3.0.1, but no OTA with these roms

This is a known issue and too many reasons to list. But, basically you are not 100% or it thinks that (checksums different) etc.
So, just flash directly to 3.2.1 GEN2
Mods please close. I was able to fix the issue
I was rooted and had to flash to 3.0.1 or 3.1 before unrooting with the iconia apk. Then I used the acer recovery tool to flash stock recovery. But after flashing stock recovery and unrooting I couldn't get any OTA updates. I re-read some the posts and manually updated to 3.2 after decrypting the zip. After updating I checked for new OTA updates and sure enough found both. Now I'm back to stock 3.2.1. Patiently waiting for ICS
Glad you got it working.

Are you wanting to root it or just upgrade the firmware? Have you ever used Odin?
Try connecting to kies if you just want to upgrade firmware.

I:silly:'ve only done that stuff on my old iPhone, but when i switched to android it was like coming from north korea to china. Its just so much freedom I've never experienced before and i'm super happy i'm here( china i guess) but i couldn't imagine what america freedom feels like...and i'm guessing having it rooted and flashing custom Kernel would be like coming to america. I doubt ill ever get around to using those things to there full potential, so i guess ill just upgrade the firmware... unless you have movies or stories of the freedom im missing i doubt ill venture out to go find it. thank you for your info and looking forward to your reply

No custom kernel for us. We have a locked bootloader. We do have custom Roms. I would root but that is just me. I dislike all the bloatware if nothing else. You don't have to use your phone any differently but you never know when you will come across a great app or something and it requires root.
You are on the right firmware for root. Install towelroot, make it rain, download SuperSU from the playstore, install and update the binaries (it will ask you to) choose the normal method. Reboot your phone and you are rooted. I would go a step further and download busybox from the play store, install the app then install busybox, then install safestrap which is our custom recovery.
You can still just run a stock ROM if you wish but you now have the ability to change your phone to a certain degree. At least get rid of some bloatware. Otherwise, I'd try kies first and see if it will update your phone.

So my tablet the SM-T280 has a NOOK version, but all the specifications are matching properly. The NOOK edition, called the SM-T280-NOOK has been upgraded to Marshmallow though, where as the non-NOOK edition only stops at 5.1.1, and I would like to attempt to swap the firmware out for an updated version of Android. I'm reaching out for help finding it as my Google-Fu may not be mastered enough because I was having difficulties and thought this would be the right place with the right people to ask. If you can assist me in finding it, it would be deeply appreciated, and probably from more than just me. Thanks for your time.

I think that is just a fallacy. I realise that some sources on the Web report it has, but I feel this information is incorrect.
I have attempted to find such firmware and it doesn't exist and neither can you purchase a nook with this firmware.
It even states on the software update page the last update was only a security update.

Thank you kindly @ashyx that was the fear lol Just going to go ahead and look into buying a new device that has more development here, probably would work out better in the long run
I had a T-Mobile branded 6t that was some locked so I converted to international version and sim unlocked it. Everything went smoothly except now I randomly get permission resets as well as a Bluetooth issue that won't play any media through headphones ect. When connected via BT the audio still plays through phone. Research suggests it was bug fixed in the latest update. Currently I am on O.O.S 9.0.11. my question and concern is can I safely update to the most current version of OSS. Will doing so brick my phone? How do I safely resolve the BT and permission issues? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. If there is anything specific info wise that I missed or needed I apologise in advance I'm not familiar with troubleshooting. Thanks again.

I also have a t-mobile branded phone that I converted to the international version. You can totally update your phone to 9.0.17 safely. I did this update rooted though using twrp.
I would highly recommend going to the Guides section of the 6T forums since there's a gold mine of info and links.
NOTE: If I were you, don't update to the first stable build of Android 10 yet. It's buggy and unstable. There are threads on this topic as well. :good:

Update: here's the file https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6t/how-to/official-oxygenos-9-0-4-ota-oneplus-6t-t3860953
Exactly what he said, look on the forum for the update to 9.0.17 file and local upgrade, no need to backup or just for security since it will not wipe storage. I'm running this too and works like it should. Don't do Android 10 update yet, it's super buggy.
Just to clarify since I've not come across a solid answer but I've downloaded and moved 9.0.17 to parent directory. I have unlocked bootloader and sim via rebrand to international 9.0.11. I have dev options #1 usb deg #2 verify apps via USB both on. Is that all that needs to ensure a smooth flash in local upgrade? Do I need to turn on advanced reboot? I vaguely remember seeing somewhere about issues concerning adv reboot. I just want to be sure before I flash the update and wipe cache. Thanks again.

I enable advanced reboot to bring up the full menu, as in and in this order(power off, restart, recovery, bootloader, and screenshot)
It's a personal preference for me and at the same time, convenience.
Ok well I will enable it as well and see it it suits me. I suppose I'm going to root so wish me luck lmao

Luck!
BTW: Christmas came early and oneplus just released open beta 2 for Android 10. I just installed it and running great -- of course, I'm going to give it the "weekly workout" and see if the bugs were ironed out and can "leave" pie or revert back.
Seems I've successfully flashed to 9.0.17. hopefully that removes the annoying bug that randomly resets app data and permissions. I believe I fixed the BT issue prior but I'm still aggravated by the app data stuff. Hopefully this works out. I appreciate the assistance and have one last request. Could someone please point me to the proper guide to root my international 9.0.17 6T. Thanks again ?
Hi
Was hoping to get some guidance from anyone who has successfully upgraded the Android version on their Samsung GT-P5110. My daughter needs to install educational software that requires Android 5 or above (due to COVID/Home Schooling). Id love to buy a new tablet but Ive lost my job so hoping to get this old tablet working. Has anyone succesfully upgraded this model? Any help with instructions and links to correct versions of Odin, TWRP and OS Image would be most appreciated. Ive got some tips from this thread but not sure where to get the correct file versions..

Tablet is useless to me now. YouTube no longer works keeps asking to update
