Yep, I've fixed that.
Let me know if you will install it.
You patch this update yourself ?
I am leery about running it.. it patches everything you can imagine.

Nope. Cuz I'm usin' XT1527 firmware on XT1524. So my recovery and modem are different. Thus I can't install this update.
It's untouched. Factory package, extracted from /cache partition.
ahh ok thanks
i seen it downloaded OTA to that folder on my XT1527 device too.
what about Bootloader concerns guys ?
people are talking about that on the stock firmware topic
and they linked to this topic..
and i guess just open TWRP and flash it then right ?

Actually You need fully untouched (factory origin) partitions, ie. recovery, firmware, radio, boot etc.
There shouldn't be any problem with unlocked bootloader.
if you need a stock phone then you have to use the ADB-Side Load method then right ?
and the release notes are vague from Moto
EDIT:
i can confirm the file posted on Mega is the same as the OTA update from Moto.
I got both just now and hex compared them.. using BeyondCompare (HEX)

Thanks for help. So now guys may download and flash without worries.
ya i guess i am running a different modem too.
hmm this is getting complicated hahah
at first i thought you could do a flash like i seen guys doing on a Moto G tutorial..
they backed up all with TWRP then installed stock recovery + stock firmware etc.
then connected to PC with adb fasttools and flashed it that way (have not used that method yet)
that means you put phone into fastboot connection mode and connect with stock recovery.
then the update is flashed over usb while the update is on your PC.
and in the tutorial the guy then re-flashed TWRP and restored back his data.
BUT !
This update patches every single stock apk and pretty much every aspect of the system.
including the modem !
so if you did restore your old modem then it's not patched.
and some of us have a 5.0.2 modem so hmmm
maybe it would be ok (security wise) if the 5.0.2 modem was stage fright patched too ?
When I Trying to INtall the update From TWRP got this error:

How to apply the update manually?
Hi,
I have the xt1524 bought from retail in Europe (Germany). I managed to upgrade it to stock xt1527 retus 5.1, but the stagefright update keeps on failling to install. I have the motorola drivers and adb and fastboot, also unlocked the bootloader. How can I apply this update manually?
Thanks in advance!

You simply can't install this OTA on 1524 hardware.
I suppose you use 1524 modem and other partitions. The script updates every of these partitions.
At first it asserts partitions software, and of course it fails.
If only smb wills to modify the script.

I could solve it, after all, I just reinstall a stock ROM and delete: cache, davilk cache, and Internal (user data)
then I had to install TWRP again
I guess we need to remove the modem patches from the update to allow installation on XT1524 ?
Interrested too : the update did download to my phone.
Got the .zip from /cache and waiting to update the script

Not sure if the script will pass the signature validation.
Though there's another way to update. Apply patches to files one by one, including boot.img, gpt.mbn and flash these patched versions on top of current fw. Excluding modem.
But this might be dangerous due to gpt.mbn flashing.
So guys I recently applied OTA patch to boot.img (i.e. kernel). It's relatively safe to boot it, but there's no 100% guarantee it will work as expected. Who knows what did Moto changed in there.

If You have bootloader unlocked, TWRP and XT1527 firmware on Your XT1524 (or Regular 1527 without Stagefright patch), try to load it without flashing.
fastboot boot boot.img
Don't forget about the full backup.
Warning! I'm not responsible for damages you might made to your device. You're doing it by youself, and to your own responsibility
I have xt1527 android 6.0 stock and bootloader loock and stock recovery

Ur trouble isn't due vy any TWRP version but by yourself.
Bcuz u wiped system parttition, then certainly file build.prop's gone too. So, when TWRP want to get name of device, it can't, then it will cancel flash process. To fix, i suggest u some method:
1. Set "ro.product.device" manually
- Use terminal builtin of TWRP, type follow:
Code:
setprop ro.product.device a500cg
setprop ro.build.product a500cg
- Or, if use adb shell from ur PC:
Code:
adb shell
then type 2 lines as above
After that, choice & flash rom as normaln
2. Edit updater-script
- Open Rom zip via Winrar/7z (Windows) or file roller...(Linux)
- Goto META-INF/com/google/android, u'll see 2 files: update-binary & updater-script.
- Open file "updater-script" via any editor program u have (For Windows, use Notepad++ ONLY), find and delete any line contains "assert" word. On stock, first 10 lines, while custom rom just 1, or 2 lines, in generally.
- When done, save your file, choose "Yes" when a popup promt u want to update your zip.
- Push your new zip to device then choice it to flash
3. Find then flash any "system.img" for your device first via fastboot, then reboot to recovery, then u know what have to do, right
4. Use Asus Flash tool & "raw" file. But this's a longest & hardest way, so avoid it anyway.
Hope can help u. Goodluck

After many failed attempts , I finally decided to go back to the original stock ROM . Maybe I'll try again when there was a bugless custom ROM .
Thanks anyway for all your efforts , it will definitely be useful in the future.

setprop ro.product.device a500cg
setprop ro.build.product a500cg

"Failed to mount '/system' (invalid argument)", Help translating tech talk

To be quick, I have a very specific error in all TWRP versions on LS997 that won't let the system stay mounted while flashing roms, "Failed to mount '/system' (invalid argument)".
I believe I found a fix for it in a dead reddit thread, but I can't understand how to do it on an LG v20.
Help is much appreciated.
It reads
"for anybody that stumbles upon this thread: I got it working by using a parted binary and mkfs.ext4 binary.
I removed the partition and added it again with parted, don't forget to name it correctly. And then I reformatted with mkfs.ext4. Those three links might help:

I’m also looking at the thread, and the miui link is stale because miui cleaned their forum.
I tried erase data (entire partition). I tried wiping system data cache, no matter what I did it was error 7 or unable to mount system.
I’m suspecting it might be which kdz I used for the downgrade but honestly it can’t be the case because I did this before 2 months ago and it was ok, now I can’t do anything.

Issue with flashing magisk on BlurOS (Asus t00j/t00f)

Hi Folks,
I am new to rooting and struggling with a problem. I have an old zenfone 5(ASUS_T00J) model. I am using custom rom BlurOS found in the below thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone-5/development/rom-bluros-version-1-0-zenfone-5-t3619058
I am trying to flash Magisk from TWRP recovery but it's failing with below error:

Updatrer Scripts are in below Google Drive Location:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1X2lupRfMUj-n5pRx2c0h0NQHUvfOXJAP/view?usp=sharing (Updater Binary)
Steps followed by me:
1. Installed latest Magisk manager from GitHub
2. Downloaded the latest zip file prompted by Manager
3. Reboot in TWRP recovery
4. Flashed the newly downloaded zip file
Appologies in advance if this is not the right forum or I have violated any guidelines. Let me know if you need any more details from my side. Thanks in advance.
Update
The issue still remains. Tried to find solutions online. Below methods were suggested. Since, I am new to this, might have tried something silly in the process.
Method 1:
Flash the Rom boot image via TWRP
Result: Did not prompt to provide any partition but Failed with error 'No Partition selected for flashing'. Updated the TWRP to 3.2.3 and tried the same thing again. This time prompted for a partition but no option was available that I could provide there and failed with the same error.
Method 2:
Patching the Boot image of my ROM through magisk patch
Result: Extracted the boot image for BlurOS Custom rom and tried to patch it through magisk Manager. Installation failed with 'Unable to repack boot image'.
Since I updated the TWRP, tried to flash the magisk zip file hoping for some other error (at least). It failed with below error message:
Installing zip file '/sdcard/Download/Magisk-v20.4.zip'
Checking for digest file...
Skipping Digest check: No digest file found

Kindly let me know if you guys have any pointers. Any leads will be appreciated.
Magisk is unable to patch x86 boot.img's, so you have to use "android image kitchen"
Magisk patches Ramdisk file so you have to do:
move x86 ramdisk to ARM boot.img
Patch it via magisk
move patched ramdisk back to x86 boot.img
You can try boot.img's that I made for RR and Lineage in my thread. They are pre-patched with magisk 20.4
Anyways, is BlurOS better than lineage or RR ?

Im using twrp-3.3.1-18-enchilada-Q-mauronofrio because it was the only one that would work for me and yes its the latest version of OOS. I've tried ADB Sideloading and it didn't work either.

There's your problem. It thinks your phone is a OP6, not a 6T. You need to use a 6T recovery. You must be missing a step during the recovery installation.
FunkWizard has an excellent guide.
My Lineage install guide above also has a section on installing TWRP.
