I had been looking at this phone for a while on ebay and despite well... ebay... I had temporary lapse of good judgement and maybe a bit of alcohol and pulled the trigger.
I got the phone thinking it was a SM-N910F, everything I'd read said it would work on US AT&T sans some bands for LTE.
The phone came and it was in good condition. The box and the serial label behind the battery all say SM-N910F.
I turned the phone on, it has a beautiful screen, everything seems to work fine, works with wifi no problems, so far so good.
I turned it off, popped in my ATT SIM and turned back on and, uh oh, got an invalid SIM error.
Ok so next step, I go to the ATT store, they check the IMEI and confirm that yes it will work on their network and they give me a new SIM for good measure. Their new SIM still shows invalid in the phone and the sales guy is confused but then I tell him I got the phone off ebay and he gives me a look of pity. No problem though I wanted the international phone so I could learn about flashing ROMs and such without leaving me with a non-working brick and no communications device.
So I read through XDA posts and various tutorials over the web and try to find out why it's not accepting my SIM.
I flash TWRP, and root the phone, that worked fine.
Then I decide that maybe upgrading the firmware to Lollipop and flashing a new ROM might fix the problem. I go to Sammobile, download N910FXXU1BOB4_N910FOXA1BOB4_DBT because that seemed like a good one that would work. Then try flashing it via ODIN.
ODIN Fails, SECURE_CHECK_FAIL : aboot. Some more reading later I find out that usually happens because you're trying to flash the wrong thing.
So I dig further. I can still get into the stock kitkat software on the phone so I download *Samsung* Phone Info and check out what I've currently got on the phone, but now I'm totally confused because I don't know what to make of it and this is where I need some help.
I've got screenshots but due to being new I can't post a link, I can email them if they'll help.
Settings > Device Info shows SM-N910F with baseband of N910FXXU1ANK4... that looks right
but then I fire up Phone Info and it shows a phone model of SM-N910P which would be a Sprint CDMA phone? and a country CSC of CHN?
so this phone is truly international
European phone, Chinese CSC, with USA Sprint firmware?
Where do I even begin, can anyone suggest what I can do to untangle the mess?
Have you check the box "OEM unlocking" in the developer options menu? This allowed me to use Odin the first time on my tmobile note 4.
If you don't have a developer options menu in your settings, go to about device and press build number 7 times until it tells you you are now a developer.
try a European version BTU from sam i have the same model SM-N910F root is an issue i'm looking at.
as the SM-N910F is Euro i would use that firmware.
Hope it helps.

My i9500 has driven my crazy since yesterday, I even stayed up all night trying to find a way to restoring its IMEI. So here's the problem:
I was playing a game called "Friendly Fire" and decided to turn off its notifications using Application Manager. Everything was fine until a few hours later when I opened up my phone and saw the mobile signal was gone, only a circle with the diagonal dash inside it left. At that time I thought it was fine but then suddenly it popped up the message "Please enter SIM card unlock number" or sth like that, which was an error indeed because my i9500 is an unlocked version. I though it was the mobile network who locked the SIM, but when I tried putting the SIM into other phones, they all worked! And so I started to find a way to unlock my i9500 by ServiceMode Menu but I could never reach the ServiceMode Menu, it only showed a blank screen. I checked my IMEI and it now said "null/null". I had never rooted or flashed any ROM on it so it was really really strange. So I reached a topic on "how to solve the null/null IMEI" on i9500 because it seemed that many people got this problem. However, nothing helped I even rooted my phone to see whether I can back up then restore the 'efs' folder. Well, I did manage to do so but the IMEI would not change at all. The strange thing is that when the phone was just booted up, if I enter *#06# the IMEI shows "null/null", but if I enter *#1234# first then *#06# it shows the generic IMEI (0049...), which was useless as well. I tried different methods, flashing to different official stock rom, but nothing worked. Also, when I flashed an official stock rom, Kies did not show the right region of the firmware but "XXX" for every firmware I tried. And of course, my mobile signal was lost so I could not make any call/text/3G/LTE/etc., but the rest (wifi, bluetooth, gaming, etc.) was okay, it is basically an ipod touch right now
I wonder if anyone can help me with my problem? I know my real IMEI number (at the back of the phone) and that's it. I bought it from another country so it would not be possible for me to bring it to the Samsung store where I got it from. I could not remember the country where its first firmware came from Is there any way to find out that?
Many thanks for reading my trouble :crying:
Well this weird, I am wondering if an android virus could do that....

I bought it in the U.S. in July, from an official Samsung store. Well, the box containing the phone and the phone itself were "made in China", I thought most products have those words? It would be ridiculous if that is the problem because it also has a line like "Korean product"...
I wonder if Octopusbox or SPTbox may fix the problem? I don't know those two things very well though.
I had the same problem on a different samsung phone (Note 2) and i was getting imei 0049 or something like that, Basically my imei had changed or gone. The issue i found out to be a baseband issue so what i had done was downloaded a few compatible basebands and flashed them via odin and eventually got my imei back. There is also this link for you to have a look at http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/77400-booting-issues-and-imei-loose/ just in case it helps. Hope you get sorted.

According to your description, you can have a try resert your Samsung galaxy s 4 and then restart it to see weather it is OK? If it still not fine, send it to Samsung After-sales service
Hey,
I flashed my device some time ago and I broke the glass. I sent to a repair shop and since then I'm stuck on roaming and I can't register to my network (Videotron).
When I use auto connect, it uses Videotron PRTNR which is videotron's partner network (rogers).
I want to install the stock firmware but I've tried to install about 7 of them from sammobile or samsung-updates, all of them show BMC (BELL) or EUR at the end of the firmware version in kies.
Kies refuses to let me install the stock firmware from the firmware upgrade and initialization it says "This version of the device cannot be updated."
I want to be absolutely sure it's not my firmware that's causing the problem before accusing the repair shop....
Does anybody have any idea?

The way you worded your post is confusing. Did the glass shop break your phone or did your flashing cause the issue? We need to know exactly what you did and a lot more information about your phone configuration if you want good advice. You didn't even tell us which S5 variant you have, the specific firmware versions you refer to or give us a verbatim log of what Odin said when you tried to install (an unspecified) firmware version. All of which are critical details.
Some obvious first steps, try your SIM in another unlocked phone to confirm that the SIM and your account are working properly. Also try a friend's SIM in your phone and see what the result is. Check your phone settings for inadvertent changes of course. And list what your phone settings are for us! Clear your system cache from recovery mode.
If you still have problems, try writing a stock firmware with Odin, followed by a factory data reset. Then give us a detailed, step by step description of what you tried and the results for a start.

My apologies for the lack of information
I have the SM-G900W8 model, using Videotron as my network provider. I believe the roaming issue did not exist before the repair, but they won't believe me since I have a custom rom installed.
While my phone was being repair I've used a galaxy S3 and it started roaming... I thought it was normal since the phone is from Bell (Unlocked) and maybe the network aren't compatible.
I tried what you suggested and inserted my Sim card into my girlfriend's Videotron Galaxy S3 and it still says roaming. I guess the problem must be with the sim card or videotron's network?
And about the roms I tried on my S5 :
=> with Phoenix rom v2, the problem is there.
=> With a couple of original SM-G900W8 stock rom (found on sammobile website) flashed with odin , the problem is still there.
I did try to clear the cache etc...
I forgot, the latest rom I flashed is named G900W8VLU1ANF4_G900W8OYA1ANF4_G900W8VLU1ANF4_HOME.tar.md5.
Please let me know if I forgot something :fingers-crossed:

Critical point that. If I understand your reply, the problem remains when you try your SIM in your girlfriend's phone. That shows the problem to be independent of your phone i.e. it is a problem with your SIM or more likely, account. Especially if your girlfriend doesn't have this issue with her own SIM.
Talk to your carrier's support department and if they can't resolve it immediately, open a ticket for them to look into it further. Based on what you described it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the glass repair people. It's just an account problem that happened to occur while your glass was being repaired.
Let us know what support says or if anything changes. If you're ambitious, post your network settings here for review, just in case they impact on the issue in some way. Still it seems to be an account issue.

I am also with Videotron.
Try to use the Search for Network, not the auto connect and see if Videotron is available from that menu.
If it is not, be sure that there is a Videotron cell tower near you otherwise it will default to Videotron PRTNR which is the normal behavior if the Videotron signal is out of reach.

The firmware that I found on sammobile and that I flashed on my S5 is G900W8VLU1ANF4_G900W8OYA1ANF4_VTR.zip (note the VTR at the end which is the Videotron variant).
Ok, I'm going to try to make a long story short, i hope that i've posted in the correct forum, I've been scouring this forum and others but nothing I've found has quite fixed my issue.
Got my S4 locked to Bell in Canada. Heard it was really easy to unlock [service menu *#0011# method] but once I got to Indonesia [for travel] expecting to be able to use my phone I found that the service menu was no longer available. Ok, no problem, there must be other ways;
I ended up paying for an unlock code from a site, it didn't work. In fact, immediately after I press 'unlock' it would say 'network unlock unsuccessful'.
I thought they gave me a faulty code but when the code I bought FROM Bell was the exact same one, and had the exact same problem I figured it was likely 'region locked'
I ended up flashing a stock rom with odin, one from a weird unlocking site, and eventually I got it working. The only problem was that whenever I'd go into screen lock I'd lose reception and have to airplane mode on and off to get it again.
After Indonesia I went to Turkey, was unable to connect at all with one of their service providers, but had no problems with Vodafone. I think this may have been a side effect of regionlock away app, I needed to use that as well.
Once I got back to Canada I went custom recovery with cwm and flashed Cyanogenmod. This was fine, no reception problems, 10.2 - 11 was all good.
NOW I am in Poland, and getting the same problem I had in the first place. Whatever Cyanogenmod did, re-locked my device, in some way, I'm guessing.
I'm now rooted, with TWP recovery, running Android 4.4.4 Dave GPE rom, and would REALLY like to be able to use my Polish sim card with this fantastic setup. Chainfire's regionlock away app does not work, gives me a CSC error message. My phone now says it's an i9505 instead of i337m
Anything I have overlooked? Any way I can get this fully unlocked and working the way I want it to?
*NOTE* I can't access *#0011# service menu, even though I flashed [i think] stock dialer.
You are not in the correct section
You need to be in this section.

I can help you a little though. If the unlocking methodes fail, then it's usually because you don't have an older modem. You need to look for the modem you should flash in order for it to work. Afterwards you can flash the modem again you are on now. If you can't find it, just flash an old modem and try.
I find it hard to believe that Cyanogenmod could have caused this though.
Cool, that will be my next phase of attack. I appreciate the redirect and thoughts (Y)
Hi I'm looking desperately for help with these 2 major isssues, any advice will be much appreciated.
I recently bought this phone SM-N9005 and worked perfectly until I realized my gps doesn't work properly. After a brief research I discovered a youtube guide with positive responses so I gave it a shot. =hC8jNb38gaY . This included ServideMod digging via *#9090# -> insert Q -> insert 0000 -> UE settings -> setting -> system -> NV rebuild -> ALL . After that my sim card was no more functional just as any other I then tried. So this is my first major problem:
1) INVALID SIM CARD The sim card was doing just fine before that and is still doing when put into other devices, but no matter which sim card I try the problem still persists. So I tried factory resets, loading different firmwares... which led to problem:
2) CAN'T LOAD DIFFERENT FIRMWARE I think I was doing all accordingly to guides but still can't force my phone with different firmware. I got it rooted, and everytime I try to use Odin it just gets stuck at "Complete write" fail or FAIL Auth.
The only firmware I could load into it was the early leak of loli 5.0 N9005XXUGBNL8 . I then tried several of them so I could use for example AryaMod (which gets always stuck shortly after start of the installation - i think because i cant load demanded firmware) but to no avail. The so far tried firmwares were the stock ones;
N9005XXUGBOJ6_N9005XEOGBOJ1_N9005XXUGBOJ1_HOME.tar
N9005ZSUGOH3_N9005OZSGOH3_N9005ZSUGOH3_HOME.tar
N9005XXUGBOI6_N9005ETLGBOA2_N9005XXUGBOH1_HOME.tar
N9005XXUGBOI6_N9005O2CGBOF2_N9005XXUGBOH1_HOME.tar
And the only working is the one mentioned above from early loli 5.0 leak : BL_N9005XXUGBNL8_CL3643614_QB3415922_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar, which I currently have. Any other attempt to load meets with the same failure. I tried different versions of Odin, starting them as admin, different usb ports, wiping before, rooting it but just can't load any other. : /
So finally I'd like to ask: Is there any way to revert damages I did by doing that ServiceMod thingy? To get rid of that INVALID SIM CARD notice? I'd like to do it myself if possible.
And secondly, why can't I get any other firmware working? Is it wrong choice of firmware not compatibile with my phone or I just overlooked something during installation?
If you reached it all the way here, thank you. Please share any advices you might have.
Oh btw this is from *#1234# if its of any help : AP: N9005XXUGBNL8 CP: N900PVPUEOC5

...Well this is odd, the model number is everywhere stated as N9005 but in download mode it's N900P !
The mei number matches but it's short of one last number. The mei in back has 14 digits and in system 15.
Hey,
I got the same issue a few months ago,
It was the "pin" behind the cover that didn't reach for the antenna on the other side
This crappy video helped me a lot
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUsXU28IDdM
Update: I just discovered I can only install the N900P firmware so right now the both AP and CP is N900PVPUEOK2.
But the firmware selection for 900P seems rather limited to USA region. Back then I had czech (maybe european version with czech language?) version.
Info about phone now says my phone is N900P even though my phone is 9005 and so was the firmware for it.
DISCLAMER: I AM NOT A DEVOLPER AND MAY NOT BE ABLE TO HELP YOU ON YOU DEVICE. UNSUCCESSFUL ATTEMPTS TO FLASH FIRMWARE ON THIS DEVICE CAN AND WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE. BACK UP EVERYTHING IN EVRY CONCIEVABLE WAY.
After days of trying to do this with all the outdated guides and miscommunications and edits in post i decided to try and make a streamlined guide to help others.
NOTE: If your are looking for anything else other than a stock bloat free unlocked firmware then look elsewhere.
Also if you are using rev 1 booloader then this will ireversablly upgrade you to rev 2 bootloader not a real problem just a note
Download 3B's patched Odin 3.13 https://drive.google.com/file/d/17wH1YHcGsOCxbDGYDoy9VlnqO_Xi6IOm/view?usp=drivesdk
Download samfirm.exe
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1XdboeTqk8pSZyJQVt-IHVHFfznJ9eOQk/view?usp=drivesdk
Thanks to @zxz0O0
If you can't find your own drivers don't do this
1. Extract B3 Odin
2. Extract and run samfirm.exe
3. Make sure auto is checked use SM-G955u1 as model number and XAA as country code then search. It should find you the absolute latest firmware
Hit download and choose file destination. This can take a while.
4. extract firmware.zip
5. Run 3B's Odin and add file to there respective locations. I.e. Ap file in Ap slot etc. Use the non home CDC
6. The only thing you need ticked in Odin are already set by default
7. Boot phone into download mode power+bixby+volume down while the device is off
8. Read the screen that pops up very carefully and decide to continue at you own risk by pressing volume up
9. Connect phone via USB 2.0 port do not use a USB 3.0 port it will not work
Make sure Odin recognizes device if it doesn't then u have a driver issue
10. Press start and wait patiently
11. Phone will reboot it self setup device and insert sim card. You will probably get a notification say phone not allowed a quick call to the service provider you trying to use is all that's in order here
12. Enjoy your carrier unlocked stock SM-G955u1 on your preferred network
I AM NOT RESPOSIBLE FOR ANYTHING YOU DO TO YOUR OWN DEVICE YOU WERE WARNED.
So this gets rid of all bloatware?
From my knowledge, Verizon does not, and has not ever carrier locked their phones. Seems like a lot of trouble just to debloat.. Am I missing something here?
Any idea why it stucks at "SetupConnection.."
This worked GREAT! My Verizon S8+was working fine on AT&T before I did this, but I was stuck on Android 7.0. So thank you so much for this. There's only one thing that bothers me is in my drop down menu there's a notification that says "Sprint OMADM Checking Device Status." Which really isn't a big deal, it's just annoying. Another thing I worry about is, i'm using it on a GSM network, is it actively searching for a CDMA network at the same time and draining my battery? Any input would be appreciated, and thank you again!

This being quite an old post I was wondering ...
I am currently on G950USQS5CSB1 with CSC XAS/XAA/VZW.
Currently I have no carrier bloat (good), I am on Mint with no issues (good) and I get prompt OTA's I assume for carrier VZW but I lack wifi calling which I would like (bad).
I have downloaded G950U1UES5CSB2 for G950U1
Will this work using the 3B modded Odin as described without having to flash the combination files?
normal and Prince Comsy Odin both failed.
Thanks
edit: Took the dive .... worked great thanks, now on G950U1 and have wifi calling and VoLTE
This is great, minus one thing, it installed facebook on my phone, which I didn't have before and never wanted and it won't let me uninstall it..
I'm hoping you are still monitoring this old thread. I have a Verizon Galaxy S8 and followed your instructions exactly (except that I downloaded the files for SM-G950U1 (my current model is SM-G950U). When I start Odin, it gets stuck at "SetupConnection" and never goes any further. Thoughts?

This would be great if it worked. However I have my doubts. You would first need to have the phone be from Verizon or be on another carrier and *unlocked* first before changing any CSC using the US OPEN firmware which allows you to simply put a sim card in and switch carriers by swapping sims and letting Samsung reconfigure the phone. The BEST setup is a SPRINT phone.. unlocked.. then converting to U / U1 firmware. You then have every possibility when it comes to carriers sitting at your finger tips!
Good Luck

Your post dont even make sense. The Verizon s8 at the time came sim unlocked. All you had to do was swap the csc. But worked unlocked out of the box. Why would a sprint device be the best setup. All the us s8s are identical. Sounds like you come from LG which is true on devices and versatility. Not Samsung.
