My internal memory became full and once i switched off and then on the phone, it just shows yu screen followed by only the "cyanogen" screen. When contacted the customer care they said i need to do a hard reset and that i would lose all my data. Is there any means to recover my photos from internal memory? Kindly let me know how to recover the data. Thanks!!

Its true that you will lose your data if you hard reset your phone. Also, there is no manual recovery option available to get your data back. I would suggest you to clone your phone data first and then move to the resetting process as cloning your phone may help you to get your data back.

basically my phone froze, and once i had reset it everything on its memory had been deleted. Is there any way i can get all my data back?
being brutally honest, unless you have some form of backup
NO

What did you do to reset it?

i have most of my data on microsoft my phone so its ok, just gotta download all my apps again. Might aswell install all the software updates whilst there isnt anything on my phone
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505 (unlocked version). It was using the stock v4.4.2 but it was rooted and the bootloader was unlocked, I also had a different Recovery installed (Can't remember which one but it wasn't Clockwork). I am no longer using the phone so it doesn't contain any data that I need. I was preparing the phone to sell it so I decided to encrypt the storage as I read that that doing this would remove any possibility of old data being taken off.
During encryption setup, I had to enter a PIN before I could have it encrypted so I entered one. Once it finished encrypting (took quite a while), it rebooted and asked me for the PIN to decrypt the device, I entered the PIN. It seemed like it accepted this but then it rebooted. It kept doing this so I thought no big deal as it probably already achieved what I wanted. So I did a factory reset via the Recovery. However, the encrypted partition still persisted after the factory reset.
So then I decided to use Odin (v3.09) along with the latest stock ROM (v4.4.2 I9505XXUGNG8) to write over the whole phone thinking this would reset it. But the encrypted partition still persists and it keeps rebooting after I enter my PIN.
How can I completely factory reset the phone including removing the encrypted storage? I don't need any data on the phone, just need to reset it completely back to factory.
TIA
Probably flash a custom recovery and then:
In TWRP, under "Wipe" menu, there is "Format Data" function, which will effectively remove the encryption from the device
(alongside with all the data of course).
ps the information you had about encrypting your device is wrong. Basically when you delete a file from you phone, there is no way currently possible to get it back. That is caused by TRIM. Not even professional companies can restore it as of yet. So once you delete it, it's really gone.

Ok, I'll give that a go.
This is a similar article to what I read about needing to encrypt the device to truly remove your personal data: http://gadgets.ndtv.com/mobiles/fea...elete-all-data-from-your-android-phone-603731
What about files that haven't been explicitly deleted? Say for example if I left all the files undeleted but I just did a factory reset, will those files be recoverable? That's what I want to protect against.

That articel is mistaken. As of Android 4.3, files that are deleted can't be recovered. A factory reset should be enough. It will also wipe your internal storage.
Thank you. Phone is all sorted now and back to a factory reset
I've been offered a decent price on my note 3 and due to upgrading to the note 5 in October I'm interested.
I want to encrypt before wiping but had some questions.
If i encrypt then do a factory reset, then input his sim in and start it up, will it then ask for the encryption key before he can use it? Or does wiping it also remove the request for a key while still keeping the original data scrambled?
Also something i can't remember from before. When i have done the reset, does it give the option to turn off ready for the first boot being when his sim is in? Or does it automatically restart so i have to allow it to boot then tell it i dont want to log in my details?
Thanks guys

Why would you encrypt the phone? [emoji33]
Factory reset means you need to set up everything from beginning.

I realise the reset starts from the beginning which is fine because I'll be selling to someone else. I needed to know whether it can be turned off right after the reset so i can turn on for the first time with the new persons sim in and he can start inputting his account details from the first boot.
I want to encrypt as apparently just resetting still enables someone to recover data.

If it was me, I will reset my phone. Copy some random files like Movies or audios and Reset again.
Which rewrites the data table..
and I have never tried this Encryption

Do it 3 times or get an app for that.
I would never buy an encrypted phone without pass.
Hello. I'm trying to copy all my apps along with data over to my S7 Edge from my S6. Obviously I can't use Titanium as we don't have root on the S7. I tried using Helium, but I can't get it to connect with the S6. I even tried an adb backup with no luck. So I tried flashing the stock firmware on my S6. Now it won't boot. Just loops. I've read that if I do a factory reset in recovery,* that it should boot. But, I'm worried that if I do a factory reset that I'll loose all my internal storage. If not, then I'm good as I can access my recent titanium* backup. But, if it clears internal data, I'm screwed.
Does anyone know if factory reset will clear my internal SD card? If so, can I access my internal SD card from either recovery or bootloader? I need to get my titanium backup folder somehow. Thanks to anyone who can help.

put it in recovery and you can save your internal storage stuff. pics, files etc just connect to PC and transfer . apps will all be under Google and just gotta relog into some
Boot your S6 into TWRP and mount your internal storage and connect it to your PC and see if you can access it that way. A factory reset won't help you at this point because you flashed the stock firmware using Odin. Also, if you use Odin to flash the stock rom it will wipe your internal storage. So if you still have root on your S6 try to boot into TWRP.

If I remember well there is a Samsung app ("smart switch" I think) that you install on both samsung phones then you put the two phones together so the NFC can talk and then you can transfer
your apps and data from one phone to the other automatically. I did that between a galaxy S5 and a galaxy S5 duo.
Hope it helps.

But he can't use Smart Switch if he can't finish booting.
Got it working. Thanks guys.
My phone was behaving weirdly after may security update. So I decided to factory reset it hoping it would solve the problem. I had no idea my internal storage would be wiped out as well. As some of the files were important is there any way I can recover those files. After erasing there was a screen "encrypting data".
Any kind of help would be appreciated.
I'm afraid that your files are definitely lost and there is no way how to recover them. You would have to somehow get raw data of internal SD and previous encryption key to be able to "undelete" at least some data.

Even if you had a backup of previous encryption key the partition have been reformated
I'm sorry but no you can't
