BOOTLOOP/Brick LG G2 (D802) - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So here's what happened i was flashing the LLAMA Sweet Kernel for my D802 from RenderKernel (KK Bootsack loki signed, KK Bootloader) then i got stuck on LG Logo at first i thought it was fine but it hasn't move for like 30 mins. Then i tried to reboot and enter recovery mode. I can't enter recovery mode i tried it several times turned off first then Volume Down + Power button its not working anymore. But i can access DOWNLOAD MODE which is good i think.
Can someone please help me sort this thing out i just need to have TWRP recovery and i can handle the rest. How could i flash it using download mode. Thank you guys
LG G2 D802

Euphoria ROM
LLAMA Sweet Kernel

Try installing the stock LG Mobile Support Tool and USB drivers.
Open the support tool program, connect the phone in download mode, click on "Options" in the top right-hand corner, select upgrade recovery, and, hopefully, the program will download and install the correct firmware for your phone.

Will this one completely delete everything? Or change the current ROM i've been using // Will this one also delete media files photos/music etc?
Is there any way that i can just flash TWRP on download mode so that i will just flash bootloader/bootstack or kernel thats causing this bootloop/brick.
Thanks

Yes, it will wipe everything.

So There's no other way to save my media files. i mean there's no other way to flash any recovery to my phone even though i can access download mode? Is that it sir?

have you tried re flashing twrp?

How can i re-flash it? ROM not loading stuck on Boot Logo, can't go to recovery. Only download mode working i already installed drivers and its been detected. I just dont know if there's a way to flash twrp on download mode.

I read some posts where it will delete data, others say it won't. I would just assume that flashing stock would return to stock and delete data.
Not sure how to flash twrp from download mode.

[Q] Flash stock with security error

Ok, so I flashed cleanrom ex, and on reboot I got a security error.
I tried to get to recovery, but it wipes data and immediately reboots.
I've tried flashing the stock rom, but lg flash tool tells me it's the wrong device (now thinks it's a D802).
I've been trying to get into TWRP on scrosler and samsunggalaxystig's advice, first by repeatedly trying an adb reboot recovery, then by writing a batch script to do it repeatedly in order to catch it before it reboots.
Problem is, I don't know if I had already had ADB drivers installed on this computer for the G2 (had rooted while at work), and despite installing them more than once, I don't think the device actually has enough time to be recognized as I still have an unrecognized "g2" in device manager while TWRP is wiping.
Any ideas? Is there any way I can force the install of the ADB driver without having it connected for more than 20 seconds? Spitballing... would it be possible to actually flash a D802 image so I could then root, change the build.prop to D800, and then flash the D800 image?
Totally at a loss at this point.
did you solve your problem? i have a similar problem and i just bricked an s3. this g2 is brand new and now it's bricked too! if you have found a solution please respond... :crying:

Why did flashing a rom leads you to that error? Sorry but not familiar with your roms but is this rom really for your LG G2 model?

twrp corrupted my cache partition and the phone could not boot. i tried to flash cwm while in twrp and i guess i messed up recovery and/or boot partitions. al i could get was fastboot. i flashed a boot.img i got from somewhere in here. now it says security error and it does not boot. it does not enter into fasboot. i can enter into recovery mode but it is the stock lg recovery and if i choose "delete all data", which is the only option, it gives an error and restarts.
if i try to flash stock firmware as described in this post it stops at 49%.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can someone help me I successful in installing twrp though autorec apk and the same for rooting my g2. I flashed cm with nightlies and noticed that twrp had a update. I downloaded the zip and try flashing it like flash a recovery in flashify but that din't work and readed that zip flashing though twrp didn't work but renumber this video and though it would update my recovery to 2.7.1 but it was successful in doing so but when I got to recovery it was 2.7.0. That not the problem form there I tried to boot into my system. Then it turn off though that I passed power off instead but when turn my g2 back on I found that I had a security error show up then turn back off. So can someone help show me a tutorial on unbick or a way to remove error. Also I have the d800 and i have some idea without going though unbicking a hard factory rest or flasing twrp form there site in fastboot. Finally that lg mobile support tool say that im up to date. I think doing the autorec twrp recovery locked as my phones recovery like trying to flash a rom with a locked bootloader.
Ok guys i trying to help cause it happen to me too, sorry for my english too slow but i try, when you try go twrp with volume up+power buttom it still show security errow, that ok your device not hardbrick yet, when you try volume down+power buttom it show hard reset it does mean it clear all rom, picture in internal but it go to twrp again, and them just flash another rom in your device and it done, have great day piece
I had the same problem on my G2 was using twrp to flash cyanogenmod not sure what i did and phone rebooted to show security error message. I entered recovery mode (power and volume down release when logo pops up and press power and volume down again hold for a second then tap both buttons a few times) pulled up the option to factory reset so i did and it booted me into twrp and allowed me to flash cyanogenmod correctly this time and the phone started back up with no problems. hope this can help someone else as well.
Anybody know the solution?
I also have the security error boot loop after flashing KK baseband files... I tried to enter recovery mode by holding vol down & power button but it wont work...
it does work when i enter download mode (vol up + power button), but i don't want to have to download the stock LG ROM..
anybody know how to by pass the security error boot loop to allow me to reflash?

if you still bricked. try this
get your tools from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476
keep reading or follow above thread. both will work.
best of luck.
After all the drivers installed correctly
make sure your phone is connected to the
com41 port change it if it already not ( Under device manager > Go to Ports (COM & LPT). You should see LGE AndroidNet etc... Right click it and go to Properties > Port Settings > Advanced > Change COM Port Number to COM41 > OK > OK > Close Device Manager )
run flash tool
1. choose type CDMA
2. chose PhoneMode: DIAG
leave rest as it is.
3. choose your kdz file.
then go to download mode
1. power off
2. press and hold vol + key and plug usb cable
3. done )
We have go 2 flashing modes.
1. Normal Flash is for flash with keeping data
2. CSE flash is totally new start preffered.
hope this helps.
thanks but it was a long time ago and I further messed up things, ended up sending it for warranty. they have replaced the device.
me too messed up my cell 1st i was on cloudy g2 v2.1 installed cm11 nightlies but the camera was not so good so then installed cloudy g2 v2.1 n since then i was having problem regarding sound during call and also some hard noise like siren starts randomly, i searched alot but didnt got any solution. wiped all many times (including internal storage ). but no luck then i thought i might be baseband error so i just downloaded auto recovery n flashed it n then stuck into security error but thank GOD i had custom rom in my sd card that time i flashed it back but still em having the sound error.

Hey guys, I was in the same boat for a little but was able to fix it by downloading the 801C firmware and flashing it. The firmware file should be a KDZ extension and you should also download LG Flash Tool 2014. Turn the phone on by holding the Power button and Volum up while it is plugged into your computer(It has to be plugged into a computer with LG phone drivers or it won't work).
Follow this tutorial and you will be set.
http://www.droidviews.com/how-to-restore-lg-g2-to-stock-firmware/
Start at step 17 on Method 1 and you should be golden.
Hope this helps guys!

Stuck in Clockworkmod Recovery

Hi, I've tried to install Android 4.1.2 on my LG E610 L5. The rom I chose was 20d + root + cwm. It worked just fine, but I've accidentally let it update itself, not knowing you should do that on rooted devices. Not whenever I turn on the phone it shows me cwm recovery menu. Rebooting doesn't work and I can't get into stock recovery mode. I've tried hard reset, clearing cash and data, flashing another rom, nothing works. Is there anything I can do other than giving it to service and paying for getting it fixed? Cwm version is 6.0.2.8, I can link to specific download link if that made a difference.

I'd try that, but KDZ won't detect my phone. I can't boot up the system and there's no download mode in cwm. Is there any way to flash stock recovery using cwm?
I basically need anything that would make my phone show up and be detected by kdz. May be rom or different recovery.

okay first of all you need to go to google and find the right driver for your phone
next take the battery out of your phone and then plug it in to your computer while holding the volume up buttons
next go to your computers drivers via ( Start->right click on computer and go to properties->then go to hardware then drivers-> look for something called modem and if your phone is under it then disable it)
next open the KDZ updtaer
install that mx thing
then open KDZ updater set it to 3GQCT and EMERGENCY
then select your KDZ updater
launch update
it may say errors but let it finish.
Phone's display shows LG logo. Left for an hour, nothing happened. If I try to do KDZ update, it says "PHONE WAS NOT FOUND! "

So if You have CWM, turn your phone off, take your Memory card, put it in adapter microSD -> SD , put it in card reader, copy to your card some working ROM you like,, then put Your card again in phone, place battery in,
Then Turn on Your phone , and make it to CWM boot, then do as is:
Start CWM recovery
Wipe data / factory reset
Wipe Cache

Mounts and storage
Mount system
format / system
install zip from sdcard
choose zip from sdcard external
Select soft from memory card

Then reboot Your phone and It should works fine.

How can I get into fastboot mode? None of the "press volume button and power for 30 seconds" methods work. @edit From what I've read, LG L5 doesn't have fastboot. Damn it.
Did you tried to remove the battery and enter emergency mode ?

OK, so that's really interesting. I've connected the phone to the PC, uninstalled drivers and let Windows Update install it's own. Doing so, instead of being stuck on LG logo, I was now in fastboot mode, despite being said LG L5 doesn't have fastboot. Anyways, I've flashed stock recovery.img I've found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37363473&postcount=1023. Using Vol- and power button I put it in download mode and managed to install clean soft from official LG website with KDZ. I'm not really sure how it worked, but it did.

Ok every one iv posted a simulare problem a month ago, when you use kdz, and it flashes stock, if after the flashing it stays in a boot loop all you need to do is leave the phone on boot with the lg logo for 10 mins.
After that unplug your phone, put the battery back in.
Now all you need to do is a factory reset, press and hold Vol down + menu, press power after the phone vibritas let go of the power button and keep holdind Vol down + menu for 10 seconds.
The phone will factory reset and boot up normaly.
This works on all versions of L3/L5/L7

I had no idea what I was doing back then, so I haven't tried a simple solution, but you can try flashing a ROM. The fact you boot straight into recovery is a sign of no/corrupt system, so flashing a different one may fix it. Pick one from Original Development and follow the instructions.

[Q] Help with bricked g2

I'm sorry if there is a post for this already, I have been using this website for a while and until now never had to post because all my questions were answered. This time I am not able to find an answer or even a thread with the same circumstances as mine. I rooted and installed a custom rom but didn't like it. I tried going back to stock but accidentally wiped the phone so the backups and the roms were gone. I had TWRP installed but it wouldn't allow me to sideload via adb and when I tried to enter download mode, it would enter it but go to a screen that just said firmware update and stayed stuck on there. So I went out and bought a OTG usb cable to read the rom off a flash drive and I installed it but now instead of going to recovery it goes to a black screen that just says fastboot mode udc start. Download mode still does the same firmware update screen. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

I just saw this. I have done the same thing. But I have been able to recover with TOT file. The trick to enter download mode is to hold the volume up button when you power on the phone. If you can get the phone to stay off, then hold volume up, while holding vol up plug in your data cable. You should get DL mode. If you do this while the LG Flash Tool is open, then go to control panel and find the COM port for the LG phone, open properties and advanced, change the COM port to COM41. Once that is done, also once the flash tool files are loaded and the COM41 box says ready, unplug your phone then replug your phone. You may have to also hold volume down here, I can't remember. But the first time is to let the drivers configure. The second time lets the flash tool see the COM port and it should start flashing. It will get around 80% and reboot. The flash is done and the tool will eventually report an error.
I installed the KK baseband as instructed, even also came from the stock ZVC update, rooted via IORoot25. It's a shame as I've heard great things about this ROM.
Hope that helps.

[Q] n900w8 Won't boot into recovery mode

A few months ago I rooted my N900w8, installed custom recovery (cwm), and flashed Android L. Today I tried to update the recovery, planning on updating the ROM as well. But now no custom recovery works at all, even the one I had running before. When trying to boot into recovery it says booting recovery... like it should, and then the screen just goes blank, then the phone restarts. Sometimes getting stuck in a bootloop trying to boot to recovery, but usually just regularly booting and boots normally to Android L. So now I am unable to update my ROM because not a single custom recovery has worked and therefore I cant flash the .img files. Please Help!

I had the same issue except when I try to load recovery it would "forward" itself to download mode.
This may work for you, try re-flashing the latest CWM update with Odin. Place your phone in download mode by powering it off and holding Volume Down + Home + Power. Press volume up to proceed.
1. Download and extract
2. Run Odin as Administrator (Download if you don't have already)
3. Select CMW file from your download folder and place it in the "AP" section.
4. Start
When finished, Reboot holding Volume UP + Menu + Power Button. Vola!
Let me know if this works for you.

Yeah depending on which recovery I flash it'll either forward to download mode, get stuck in a boot loop trying to start recovery, or restart and load the ROM.
Unfortunately it still isn't working :/ I used the tool from this page (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2446269) to convert the .img to a flashable odin file. Used the proper Canadian touch recovery (also tried recovery without touch) from this page (https://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager) and no luck. Tried to enter recovery mode, it says entering recovery mode, goes black for a few seconds, vibrates then restarts the phone in regular boot mode :/ Any more idea's?
Do I need to be flashing a recovery that supports Android 5.0.2 for it to work? Im so puzzled.
YES!! Finally I was able to get a TWRP 2.8.5.0 working. Downloaded latest version from the main TWRP site and flashed using ODIN, did not use the converting tool above, downloaded the TWRP as a .tar flashable file from their site. Thanks for the help!
Do I need to close this thread or anything? This is my first time posting on xda

Congratulations on solving your own problem! ^_^
I just figured to share my part when i experienced the same issue. I feel like it has somehow corrupt itself after it finished flashing which results in an empty directory for the recovery mode.

LG G2 - D802 cannot enter Recovery Mode / Download Mode key combination while booting

Hello all,
I have an LG G2 - D802 with CM-12.1 and TWRP as Recovery partition.
After the phone has undergone several software and one hardware bricks, I suppose there is something wrong with the phone's partitions because I cannot access the Recovery partition or the Download Mode when booting by using the key combination.
I found out by trying to do a clean flash of CM13 on the phone via TWRP and External memory via Mini USB - USB Memory stick and when I have deleted all partitions including the Internal Storage, System, Data, Cache & Dalvik Cache, I tried to flash the CM13+GoogleApps but then I have booted the phone I could see only the LG logo for a few seconds and then a black - on screen.
When I plugged the phone on my PC I could see a lot of partitions and I have followed a guide I found in the forum to unbrick. Then miraculously the phone had booted into the TWRP recovery without pressing any key combination. After that, I have restored to my precious backup.
Specifically then I'm trying to boot to Download Mode (to flash the Official LG Firmware and unroot), I turn the phone off, I press the Volume Up + Power, then when I see the LG logo I unpress and press the Power button but the phone keeps booting to my CM12.1 OS.
The same occurs when I 'm trying to boot to the Recovery parition (TWRP), however I can boot there via the CM's advanced reboot menu.
The reason I wanted to flash the Official Firmware and unroot is because I thought it will bring the Recovery and Download mode back..
How can I flash the correct images for the Download Mode and Recovery mode on the phone?
Also should I leave the Internal Storage intact instead of formatting via TWRP before I flash the new CM13?
thanks,

hi,
thanks for replying..
the quick reboot app can boot into Download Mode only for Samsung devices and do you mean SRK tool?
that's how I have unbricked my phone the other day when it showed all those partitions when I got it bricked..
so how can I use it to reflash the download mode and make the combination work?
also how can I go back to stock if I cannot enter the download mode?
and will the partitions be created if I'm using the download mode to flash the stock firmware?

I use quick reboot to boot into recovery....
yes srktools
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development/tools-srk-tool-useful-toos-lg-root-twrp-t3079076
not sure how but it has nuke download so it can enter download mode.
i think when using flash tools it wipes everything and installs everything needed..
so you must try the srk nuke download. i have no idea how to use. i only know you can try that or.. a search for a way to get download mode...if you get error 9006 i think then you need to short circuit the motherboard to get download mode..

I have been there my friend, that was my Hardware Brick; I had a black screen and I had to short the circuit to get all those partitions back, then I could see all the partitions and reflash all the img via Linux.
Maybe I will try the SRK tool..
