Greetings ladies and gentlemen, I'm the owner of a Galaxy S5 900H exynos, running on the latest Lollipop
My friend has an Xperia Z2, which of course can't match the beautiful Amoled screen of our dear galaxy devices..
But, I noticed that the operating system is much much muuuuuch more fluid and stable than the S5 which us bombarded by the heavy touchwiz
My question: Can I have a stock, puuuure stock android without any touchwiz running on ly S5
Is there a way to do it while sticking to a stock rom, or should I consider a custom? I'm more into stock for stability and reliability, if there are custom roms that match that level, I'm willing to give it a go.
So, what do you guys think? What's the best approach?

Hi,
I currently use a ROM based on Google Edition 4.3 and it is fast and stable. I hear that the new stock 4.3 is also much faster.
My question, has anyone used both? How do the speeds match up? I would expect GE 4.3 to be faster due to its smaller foot print, is this correct?
Your advice and comments are appreciated.
For me I m very impressed with 4.3 GE I m using it in 9505. I also used galaxy nexus with stock 4.3 for few days. I must say my 9505 giving same feeling with GE 4.3

Google Edition will always be faster because, compared to touchwiz it is much lighter. Although I have stuck to Stock because I love some of Samsungs software such as MultiWindows, Air Gesture (show notifications by waving at the phone) , AirView.
These are all the reasons I bought an S4. I can't justify installing another ROM so I install a custom launcher and keyboard

I prefer touchwiz..amazing custom kernels available..lots of mod to give it complete makeover..i debloated my rom using rom cleaner leaving only s-stuffs..and, i find battery life better on tw
Tried GE..it sucked for me..missed tw featues and camera...i actually use some of those "gimmicky" features...only advantage i see in GE/AOSP timely updates..
Great feed back guys, thank you.
So first of all, please let me state the fact that I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to rooting and all that good stuff.
I want to ask if it is possible to get the stock Android 5.0 Lollipop on the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
If it is possible, how can I do it and is it worthed?
Is losing all the S-Pen features and air wake-up and all that worthed to stay on a faster, stock Android?
Just find a launcher you like and use that. Rooting just to get rid of TouchWiz is overkill. There are great reasons to root, but that isn't one of them.
I couldn't find any good reason to root the Note 4 so far.
ad blocking, and full sd access are good reasons, among others
Definetly worth flashing stock lollipop get rid of the awful awful lag. This phone is a beast when it comes to lag. Suppose I've been bit spoilt using nexus 6 for the last 2 months which is supper smooth and fast.
However unforunately there is no stock lollipop ROMs to flash for this phone so you are stuck with crappy TW.

Going with AOSP Lollipop is definitely possible. It's great. Looks great. Runs without lag. However, if you own any Samsung wearable like the VR or a Gear 2, or if you use the Spen features then you do not want to use AOSP roms. Samsung baked compatibility into TouchWiz instead of supporting Android so you lose it if you switch.
Note that the Spen can serve basic scrolling and tapping depending on the Kernel you have installed but it is very limited.
Here is what it comes down to.
If you use any TW features or Samsung products with the Note 4 then don't switch.
If you don't use any TW features or Samsung products with the Note 4 then make the switch.
Some Note 4 compatible Lollipop Roms I have used and like are
SlimLP
CM12
Liquid Smooth
Buy a nexus 6 if u don't like TouchWiz or spen then y buy a note other phones with 2k display and 805 snapdragon

Here's my question. Galaxy A7 to comparison with Galaxy Alpha are quite identical when it comes to Chipset/Cpu and Gpu etc. They are very similar so I was wondering if any porting of custom ROMs from Galaxy Alpha could be made. I have no knowledge when it comes to porting so I'm asking here so there could be a discussion. Generally I like A7 it's a well rounded phone, great specs and camera but the touchwiz oh man the touchwiz i hate it so much...
I downloaded nova launcher so i can get close to stock android experience as a temporary fix but it's far from the usability of lets say CM 12.1 which in my opinion was/is the best OS for android machines. What do you think? Also do you see the A7 community growing to the extent of Galaxy S Series or Note series?
P.S Thanks to the developers who are working on ROMs for the A series <3
it would be great if a dev. pulls out the latest touchwiz based rom for our devices lolli will work as well!!!
I'm sorry.. What??? [emoji15]
I think you should be banned!
Just kidding but i don't understand, stock aosp is far better than touchwiz.
I have a nexus 4 and a SGS5 and i only like the S5 because it has a bigger screen and a better camera. If you look at the whole picture i would prefer the N4 over the S5 everyday.. CM makes my S5 worth using but touchwiz makes me hate it!
I can imagine that people that always had Samsung can't live without but not me, I've had many different brands and the N4 is by far the best I've ever had.
Hello, I would like to know how are the android 6 roms, especially aosp/aokp or cm?
I want to buy s4 but i need to know if there will be restarts, fcs or other things on custom MM roms in front of stock LP roms.
Thanks
Depends on what model you plan on getting.
Also, stability varies a lot from user to user.
I personally never have any issues with ROMs I use.
Hi there
I would say that Official Cyanogenmod 13 is a good choice or a more optimised one like JDC is a great choice. They are definitely stable and usable as a faily driver.
In terms of which S4 to buy... I would say hold off the American Carrier ones as they prove to be a pain when flashing custom Roms. I'd say the i9500 may not be the best option as though it has slightly better performance with its octa-core processor than the snapdragon ones, it doesn't have 4g capability which instantly makes the phone feel dated. i9506 seems good as it supports the LTE advanced and is faster than i9505, however the main drawback is the custom rom support is not as good as the i9505 model. Overall I would reccomend the i9505 model with Snapdragon 600 processor, LTE capability and the mass custom Rom support.
Please leave a like if this helped!
I would get I9505. Last I used CM on xperia x8, it was fast but had many random reboots and other problems. Since this I have used stock or stock based custom roms with almost no problems. Sometimes when I read about CM/aosp I still find random reboots posts but also posts presenting no problems. Thats why i am asking
