I finally updated to 5.0 about a month ago and after hearing all this business about stagefright and a possible security update for it. I went to where normally you would check for system updates under the ABOUT PHONE section, and there is no option for it? Any idea where it went to and how to get that option back in the menu? The other strange thing is that the last item in the About Phone menu is "Configuration Version" and it says Not Available. I have a Note 4 at work and it has info there and I imagine there should be on the Note 3 too.
Thanks in advance.
The "System updates" option is the last option (right below About Phone) in the Settings menu.
There is no System Updates below About Phone.. About Phone is the bottom menu item.
Normal Note3 bottom of Settings menu vs bottom of my menu.

Another "Anomaly" in my menus, check out the bottom item. "CONFIGURATION VERSION" First screen is normal...second one is mine.
I talked to the Samsung Rep at the local Best Buy and he was stumped. He reflashed my phone and nothing changed. He called somebody at Samsung and they couldn't figure it out either. Only thing they could come up with was possibly Verizon had hidden the System update option. Well after looking at my son-in-law's phone (the normal screen shots) we can see that is not the case at all. I had been previously rooted at 4.3 with TowelRoot but removed it and all traces of anything that was associated with or used root privledges. I them upgraded to latest VZW Rom with Samsung Smart Switch software. I can't believe that I am the only person to have experienced this. I guess I will have to do the dreaded full erase/factory reset and see what happens.
Well the factory data reset worked. Nevermind.

Hello everyone, I bring you this topic knowing that our G2s have some sort of crippled multi-user functionality.
But I was used to use the full multi-user support on my Galaxy Note since 4.2.2 (or any other Android with 4.2.2) which differs from LGs by a mile.
LGs implementation is limited to show only the apps you allow without means of changing wallpaper, pulling down the notification shade, etc. Android 4.2.2 can handle more than what LG gave us, like having a totally new and independent full session, including Sync accounts and apps which I found very convenient.
However when I tried the procedure described here it errors out for some reason with a "couldn't create user" error.
But when you get into the System Settings you get to see the new option "Users and Restrictions"

If you go there you'll see:
If you click Add User:
If you click OK:
Obviously that's because of the error I got inside Terminal. I also disabled LG's Guest Mode in case it had something to do with it but it was a no go.
I'll try some other methods and keep you posted. Any ideas are welcome.
Cheers!
this is neat, @Rayan are you already has the fix?
Nope, unfortunately I have not found a solution yet.
I have tried all methods available but no solution yet.

My stupid knock on stopped working, I tried checking for dead spots on the screen and testing proximity sensor. Both are working all the way so I was going to just update touch firmware as people suggest but my hidden menu is gone! I typed in the right number, but instead of the usual options it oy says null and when I click on it, it just says no implementation. How do I fix this or how can I update touch firmware without using the menu??
Are you on a custom Rom, in root explorer go to system/app and check if the hiddenmenu.apk/odex are there?

They are both in my system/app folder, but they don't show up anywhere. Like they are physically there but not installed and when I click it prompts me to install the apk which I do and then nothing shows up still. I'm on cloudystock with a ls980
I have now run afoul of this problem as well... the .apk is in the system folder, I can use the dialer code 3845#*801# to access the menu, but when it comes up all I see is null as the first and only item in the list. If you tap on null, it pops up a small box that says 'Not Implementation'. This is on OptimusG3 ROM V1.3.2 with the default kernel.
The thing is, this worked just fine all morning. Now, after lunch, poof! All gone.

Update: Reflashed the ROM and the Hidden Menu was restored. No idea what caused the problem though...
I updated to marshmallow and every time i boot up the device i receive this: "Unable to use fingerprints. Device restarted. Enter password, then fingerprints can be used next time device locked."
It is my problem or it is normal ?
Tried removing the fingerprints and setting them up again from scratch?
Yes ... didnt work
Find out which app controls fingerprint, and clear cache and data
Can't find it... isnt that a setting, Can i even clear it?

I'M not sure it' s a bug.
Since the 1st version by firefds I got the same message when reboot !
I flashed many versions of MM. .. and always!
I don't use Fingerprint so don't know if it's a MM bug or not, but if more than one person is getting the same error, it looks like it might be
Fingerprints
I dont think this is a bug. I have the same issue, and 2 of my family/friends, also with S5MM kindly setup prints on their devices and had the same result.
Perhaps its why they ask you for a backup password when you set "fingerprints" up.?............(cant think of why a backup password otherwise......you cant forget your finger..
....unless you accidently chopped off relevant finger & then went and "lost" it!!!!) I am afraid we have to live with this
I recently bought a used Galaxy s10 Plus and it came with Android 10. But it suddenly started forcing a bunch of updates that I could only postpone with the message saying it would automatically install them on a certain date. This happened several times all the way up to the device Forcing me to install Android 11. Problem is my Battery life significantly decreased after all the updating. My SOT went down around 2 to 2.5 hours from when it was running on Android 10.
I can return the item and request an exchange within 25 days no problem but if I do this I need to be sure how to disable the force updates on my new device so the same issue doesn't occur. Can anyone tell me how to disable automatic force updates? Only option I had was to postpone them but the device still automatically forced the update.
Thank you in advanced!
Disable it here

And disable in update auto-download over wifi.
Assuming you know how to enter developer settings.
Tap build number 5 times. And enter the password or pin if it asks you for it.

That's strange I did this already since I searched online for a solution but it still gave me the updates.
Hey fellas,
I've done some flashing on android before, but only on smartphones, instead of a car multimedia. My model is ZED AN817DK.
It looks like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

}
The launcher it came with is kinda disgusting, so I installed Nova Launcher instead.
Regardless, the system barely works, even on the stock settings / factory reset status.
Apps are crashing, changing the audio option in Waze takes a whole 2 minutes to even open up the menu for the option
(the app works but the input is unresponsive for 2 minutes until the menu appears).
I've tried contacting the shop I bought it in and they sent me a "firmware" update in the form of an APK file that will not launch in the device. I don't think I saw an option in it's administrator settings or anywhere else to update firmware via file (only check for firmware update - and it's always "up to date").
So I think I'll resort to flash a custom rom on this. I'm a bit worried since in the scenario where things go wrong I rely only on a pen hole style reset button which I don't fully trust to reset successfully if a custom rom is installed.
Is there a general flashing guide for these devices? How safe is it, as in what are the chances of completely bricking the device?
Are there general or common roms that work well on these devices?
