I'm trying to TOT my VS980 like I have countless times for replacements and for some reason the usual method to get into download mode doesn't want to work. I power the phone off fully, hold the volume up button, then plug in my USB. It says download mode for a moment but then goes to a black screen and my PC opens about 10-15 different windows telling me "I need to format the disk in drive E: before you can use it."

I've tried the usual things, uninstalling and reinstalling drivers and haven't had any luck in case its driver/PC related. The phone is currently running DR87s Euphoria 5.1.1 build and I have no issues with ADB working or getting into the devices file system when its booted.
Any suggestions? I've been looking around for quite some time but can't find much on my specific issue.
Right now you have bricked your phone, however all you have to do is download srk tools and unbrick your phone.

This is the way how to unbrick samsung galaxy s
If you have a black screen like the one shown above and you cant boot into recovery and download mode there are three things you need to do:
1. Take Battery out
2. Connect phone to computer
3.Whilst putting battery in press Vol-Down+Power+Home button
This will boot you SGS into download mode and you can just flash a rom with odin
This won't help you if you hardbricked your phone (what usually is defined as not being able to get into download mode at all).
Add "softbrick" in title.

I think Softbrick is the term people use for the state. I had the same problem on Friday night and got a thread by searching for Phone-!-Computer on Google.
To clarify on the OP:
Step 2 is optional IMHO, I attached the phone after I got into download mode.
Also, to explain step 3: Press the three buttons, and keep them pressed while inserting the battery, and and the phone should get into download mode instantly.
Just what i was looking for, but i need the stock firmware for the fascinate sch-i500
Hi people.
I from Chile and sorry if I have bad english.
I bought an LG G2 D805
The problem is that the device came wrong flashed.
They wanted to put Lollipop and caused a brick.
When you turn on the device immediately get the recovery TWRP with the following

When I connect the device to the computer in recovery mode I can not use the MTP for the same reason as shown in the image.
In the recovery, selecting the install mode, appears in storage: internal storage (0)
I can enter the download mode (bootloader) so even I have hopes of saving the device.
I used various tutorials to fix the device and none has worked.
I used the method with LG Launcher .. and nothing
with flashtool, various methods (kdz and TOT) ... and nothing
I used ubuntu but recognizes it as computed Lg G802 and that caught my attention.
I think I can not fix the device while the recovery not moutn the data.
never before he had had problems following their tutorials but I have not found a solution for this problem and I need your help.
THANKS IN ADVANCE
Hi guys, as i said, my girlfriend's galaxy s4 is stucked in a bootloop when she was playing farmville.
The phone is completely stock and with the last firmware.
I cannot enter into recovery, just can go to download mode, in which the phone is perfectly stable (is stable also when is charging on the pc).
I've tried almost everything and one time i was able to boot the device and enter to the home launcher, turn two pages and then bootloop.
Sometimes (two or three) the device stuck on a green screen like this:

}
I've tried to:
- reflash the stock firmware with odin, i get no problems and the device PASS the installation but the problem isn't resolved.
- remove sd card
- change battery
- play with the power button
I've no idea on how to fix this, why i can enter into download mode and bootloops finish?
A big thanks to everyone.
Probably hardware failure. You can try to flash the rom with .pit file and re-partition as a last resort. If it still wont boot then, then you have hardware failure.
Thanks Lenny, but how is it possible that in download mode the phone is perfectly stable?
Hi all
I had a LG G2 ( d802 ) which was broken and I tried to meddle with it a bit. It isn't booting up and when it booted, either it stucks at bootlogo or boots up to PIN screen, locks itself up and reboots.
So after couple of failings I finally booted it up in download mode and tried to flash stock rom (kdz file) from there. It succesfully flashed, booted up and stuck at welcome screen again and shut itself down. When I tried to open it, the phone still stucks at bootlogo. However when I connect it in download mode to my computer and look to the Windows Disk Management, device storage is fragmented into a lot of pieces. Is there a fix for this ?

All of this pieces belongs to the phone ( all of disk 2 ) and there is more, I couldnt fit all of them into a single image.
Yeah this is exactly what happened to me the past few days. Whatever you do, don't delete those random partitions. They will render your phone completely inoperable.
I tried this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERZvlJIC9dE without much luck. Still lots of fragmentation and could not enter download mode for more than a couple of seconds or recovery either.
So I'm stick in a bit of a rut here, I have tried using LGUP (including patched versions, Uppercut, COM41, different KDZ files) to reset my VS995 LG V20. No matter what, it stops at some point and says "Error: 0x2BC, Invalid command response code = 0x800002022". This has happened at 12%, 29%, and 30%.

I have also tried using the LG flash tool (according to this guide), and it stopped at 4% at Step 14, even though it was supposed to go to 150%. It gives an error "0x2000, VS9951CA01.dz file does NOT support...", but I cannot read the rest of the line because the window cannot be resized.
What are my options here? I've scoured the forums everywhere and can't find any method that will work. If someone is willing to offer help, I can offer $5 or so via PayPal for your time and effort, as I have reached the end of what I know to try.
The solution was to use a different USB port... sometimes the solution is the most obvious one
