So I rebuilt my NP today and wasn't quick enough to disable auto-update in the Play Store and "Google Apps for Android TV" updates itself.
For those in the know, this update breaks voice search for every language other then English US.
Is there a way to rollback this app? I can't find it in Apps. I really don't want to have to go though all hopes to set it up from scratch again.
Running rooted stock 5.1.1.

I have the No Limits Marshmallow ROM on a G900W8 in Canada. It's closely based on stock. I keep reading about Google Assistant replacing the current search coming to Marshmallow and Nougat. So how do we get that? I hear it's a pretty cool feature. Will it simply be a Play Store update to Google Search?
Thanks all

It'll probably get it, the feature is being rolled out to Marshmallow and Nougat devices through a Google Play Services update and will replace Now on Tap
Flashed Nougat to my SM-A510FD with ODIN and noticed I'm back to Google Now, which isn't a bad thing per se (more capable still than Assistant) but I kind of miss my new friend. Is it just me? Ran all updates on Play Store, Samsung has no more updates for me, can't seem to get Google Assistant back?!
Add this in build.prop to get google assistant: ro.opa.eligible_device=true

Thank you. I was hoping though to not have to root, for once, so I can get the OTA security patches which stop once you go TWRP. Was Google not rolling out to all devices by now?
Found it! Change language to English (US) , not UK, and clear Google App cache from App Manager, aaand it's back....

Did it set the knox counter to 0x1? I want to install it too but I'm concerned because I don't want to trip the knox counter. I have the phone for about 2 weeks and I don't want to completely mess it up.
I am using the Chinese variant of the MATE 9. It's happily running Oreo & Google APPS for quite some time now. I travel a lot and change my "HiCare region" to whatever region I'm working in. I was NOT offered android nine until I changed my region to China even though I've been physically in 6 Countries in Asia with this phone.
Has anyone done the OTA update with a situation similar to mine. While I want to try Android Pie (9) I don't want to mess up my smooth running machine & Google apps that I have now.
Thank you in advance for any input.
yes, the problem will be

after updating mha-al00 to version 9.0.1.150, google play disappeared from applications, and I haven't figured out how to restore it. GMSinstaller, at least the version I have, stopped working.
Problem solved
To restore google play u need to switching the region to China in appgalery, searching the google play store and updating it. All other google services work fine.
Thanks
Thank you. This is helpful info...and something I was worried about. Per HiCare, I'm being offered version
9.0.1.160
Haven't pulled the trigger...not sure I want to mess with the Google runaround.

Vitek777 or others...
Could you please list the specific steps you took To get google apps functional on a Chinese MATE 9 that was recently upgraded to EMUI 9?
-Did you have to delete your existing google store or other Google apps?
– Did you have to work with GMS installer?
Making this switch to EMUI 9 and trying to install Google apps on the China version is very temperamental. Please provide more very specific details on the steps involved. Thank you for your understanding.
I am not in mainland China now… So VPN service should not be necessary.

After upgrade from my mha-al00 to emui 9 outside of China, only one application was lost - Google Play Market. All other Google apps continued to function normally.
Running the GMS Installer did not solve the problem - he asked to uninstall all Google applications, but could not uninstall Google Play Services and stopped at this point with an error.
Manual stopping Google Play Services did not solve the problem - GMS installer still refused to work, indicating the same error.
I had to restore Google Play Services to reset the settings of the applications, because after a manual stop it was not possible to start it manually.
Next, in order to install the Google Play Market, I went to AppManager, switched the country to China in it (in my country, the Play Market is not visible in the AppManager application list), then did a Google Play Market search and installed it. The rest of the necessary Google applications, I reinstalled already from the Google Play Market.
YIKES !!
Thank you for your step by step directions to restore Google Apps after EMUI 9 upgrade.
After all the trouble getting Google to work again.....was the upgrade to EMUI 9 worth it? Wow...seems like quite a lot of work if the upgrade from EMUI 8 to 9 was not worth it...
Do you recommend the upgrade to 9?
Hello,
As the chinese firmwares are more up to date than the eu ones, I want to use them on my Z17s.
Unfortunately these firmwares exclude the google play etc.
When I tied to install playstore with some installers I found, I'm not able to finish the google sign in to install the google account on the phone
Anyone has a solution to get playstore working??

If you like the stock firmwares and don't mind messing with TWRP and then Magisk (to be able to use things like Google Pay, etc) you may try this firmware, compiled by a Chinese user that combines Android Pie and NubiaUI. It began with NubiaUI 6 but was recently updated with version 7. It's the one I'm using right now and works like a charm:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/nubia-z17/how-to/android-pie-rom-nubia-ui-6-0-nubia-z17s-t3994419
You will have to install the corresponding gapps along with the firmware, but it works.
Hello Everyone!
I'm hoping I can get some good advice on how to fix the issue that has come up.
I will try to be as detailed as I can in describing what has happened.
I started out with my Samsung S5 DUOS rooted on Android 4.4.2 but I had to update due to apps dropping support for 4.4.2.
Using Odin I installed Official Samsung 6.0.1 update for Android 6.0.1, after which I rooted the phone using the correct Chainfire Rooting package,
and after this I also installed the latest correct TWRP Recovery.
When starting up the phone everything was working fine except Google Services Framework and Play Store kept crashing constantly which I then solved by grabbing the APK's from another Samsung S5 running Android 6.0.1 and installed those on my phone. This fixed the crashing issue entirely and everything is now 100% stable and working just fine.
Which brings me to my problem: In the Play Store app it seems now that it is partially in English. I am running the phone set entirely to Swedish language otherwise. So most of the Play Store displays in Swedish, but certain things such as "Downloading" or "Install" or certain menu options of the app itself displays in English rather than Swedish. Also the app name is Play Store rather than "Play Butik" in Swedish. I thought that these APKs had all languages integrated in them and displayed the correct language depending on the language setting of the phone itself.
Any and all help to fix this so that I can have Play Store app run in Swedish would be appreciated very very much.
Kindest regards,
XDAFan.
P.S If I have posted this in the wrong place please move it to where it's supposed to go.
Might be a bug and ruled out with the next version of Playstore. I assume there are quite frequent updates, but performed in the background, like the Play Services updates.

That is an interesting theory! I went to APK Mirror and checked the versions of the APK's that I had pulled from the other (identical) phone and the Play Services APK was a match but the Playstore was outdated(!) so I pulled the latest compatible (Android 6.0+) version of that that I could find on APK Mirror and installed it and that fixed the problem!!
So BIG THANKS for thinking of this as a possible cause of my problem and the solution to it!
Kindest regards,
XDAFan.
