The learnback keyboard doesn't support mouse input, I must to switch to controller even I'm using the mouse for web content. So do anybody know how to use 3rd party keyboard for shield.
Thanks
I'm sure you know that an ACTUAL keyboard works, right? Wired USB, wireless USB, etc.
I haven't tested this specifically on a Shield TV yet, but I have no doubts it would work well. Might solve your issues.

I use a physical keyboard. However, I think you should be able to sideload something like swiftkey and it supports touch input. Anything that does touch input, works with mouse input.

Is there anyway to get a wireless keyboard/mouse working. I have a media center keyboard with trackball and nothing happens with just plugging in the USB.
Thats strange, I have plugged in many USB devices and have had no issues with them working, keyboard, mouse etc....are you on the newest firmware?
Yes, I am on the latest firmware but keep in mind I am talking about a wireless dongle for a wireless keyboard and not a usb keyboard. Are you using a wireless keyboard or mouse?
i have an old logitech wireless mouse - works goog, but klicking is a little bit hard to do - doubleklick and no good focus on the mouse.....maybe its my old mouse.....but in the german android-hilfe forums some users have the same issues...
A wireless dongle may either draw too much power or more likely require a funky driver. Does it require a special driver on a desktop system?
My suggestion would be to go with a Bluetooth keyboard, they seem to work well. I just got an Apple Bluetooth wireless keyboard lashed up to my A70 today.
Yeah, I imagine it's a driver issue alright. Probably needs a software package to get it running correctly.
I have a wireless keyboard with a built in trackpad that works perfectly. This one is similiar but not the same. I normally have it for my media pc, but it works so well with the archos that I am thinking of buying a new one just for it.
IMO, if you can find a wireless device that works with just plug 'n play on a linux box then there is a good chance that it will work with your Archos.
Good to know guys. I don't think a specific driver is required in windows. I will give it another go.
Thanks for the input guys. I had to insert the usb before booting up and it works. Sure makes typing much much faster. One question though, how do you scroll up and down in Dolphin or any other browser?
Is anybody using a usb keyboard and mouse combo with your Iconia?
I have been thinking about picking this one up:

I am not sure if it will work. Yesterday I used a similar wireless keyboard and it worked but it was a different brand.
I seen a nice small keyboard at best buy and for a mouse i use my handy smandy logitech trackball......;-}
That will most likely work.but there are some android keyboards out there with function buttons for android.I have a solidtek mini keyboard with track pad like on notebook. It works very well and solid built spill resistant.with 3.1 mouse works as well its Bluetooth as well.good Luck

link to it?
I am using a USB hub on my Iconia to connect the keyboard folio case listed on Amazon for the Iconia and a USB mouse, and it works flawlessly. It turns my Iconia into a netbook!
Running the latest CM10, when i connect my mouse either through BT or wired (Razer Orochi) it works fine as a mouse, but also detects as a keyboard. Nothing i've done has been able to get the software keyboard to come up.
any ideas? really frustrating to use like this.
Crazy Talk, you can get the virtual keyboard working again if you go into language & input under settings. Select "Default" under Keyboard & Input Methods and turn off the hardware keyboard. Hope this helps It at least worked for me on my CM10 for my Lenovo K1.
Hi,
I am happy with the Mojo, and are using it mostly for media.
To control, I am using a wireless keyboard with irda adapter connected to the usb v2 port.
Now want to use it for gaming at the same time off course.
The problem is when connecting the gamecontroller in usb v3 port.
Sometimes wifi stopped working, and the keyboard loses connection as well.
Have you tried keyboard (with mouse) and the gamecontroller at the same time?
What are your experience and what type of keyboard are you using?

I use this BT2 keyboard/mouse combo
Works well, Just have to hit esc to get out of virtual keyboard.
Both paired and connected at the same time.
Both time out but come back on with no problems.
I usually have MOJO set up in a desktop setting with a wired keyboard/mouse connected to a USB hub, which in turn, is connected to the MOJO. Also played around with a few wireless keyboard/mice. No issues with having keyboard/mouse/etc connected at same time as the CTRLR's USB dongle. The only problem is getting used to the virtual keyboard disappearing if a keyboard is connected.
To note, I use one of our Mad Catz RAT's that has on-the-device DPI adjustment, letting me adjust pointer speed on the fly.
Performed a backup using Titanium and then connected the irda keyboarb in the usb 2.0 usb port.
Worked without any problems this time

I keep a logitech wireless mouse handy. When I need it I just plug in the dongle to the 2.0 port on back. No issues using the mouse or CTRLR simultaneously.
I'm trying to figure out the best way to have the virtual keyboard hide while I use my bluetooth keyboard/mouse combo. I am using a logitech Mediaboard Pro which was built for the ps3. It doesn't connect with a dongle , it is true blutooth. I'm not sure if that makes any difference with how it effects hiding the virtual keyboard or not. I have been connecting to it with in the settings, blutooth menu. I have tried a couple of the Null keyboard apps in Google play with no luck. Anybody have any suggestions.
Can someone please recommend a decent bluetooth keyboard with touchpad. No usb dongle.
Thanks
The next firmware update should help with that issue - we're hoping to release it very, very soon.

Bluetooth combo keyboards/mouse generally don't come with USB adaptors.
So, I think any BT2 (classic) keyboard will work, mine works fine (a bit too small) but as Nate says have to escape out of the virtual keyboard.
USB keyboard doesn't do this.

I've posted the link to the latest firmware update here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2647180
Install that and it should sort the onscreen keyboard issue as Bluetooth keyboards will now correctly detect as physical keyboards.

Thanks, did the update and I'm really glad by the better support to blutooth keyboard. Now the mojo will remember my blutooth after rebooting. Also I noticed the word suggestion at the bottom of the screen. Is there a quick method of inserting the suggested word other than using the mouse to pick it. Thanks
Mouse mode too!
This is awesome! I had read that the FireTV worked with some Logitech keyboards. I had a Logitech mini keyboard that I originally bought to use with my Logitech Revue. The mini keyboard is really sweet with a small touch pad that works in mouse mode. The post stating that a Logitech diNovo keyboard worked said that the mouse didn't. This initially lead me to believe that my mini keyboard was the one referred to here, but I now think not.
Anyhow, I tried and tried to get it paired via BT. I even side-loaded the standard Settings app and tried pairing it that way, but no dice. Tonight, I wondered if I could get it to work with my Mac. It came with a "Unifying" dongle that I had tried plugging into the FireTV with no success. I downloaded the Unifying software for my Mac and plugged the dongle in. It mentioned something about pairing (don't remember what exactly), so I paired my mini keyboard and was happy to see both the keyboard and mouse portion working just fine. Then I wondered to myself "Gee… I wonder if it’s linked to this dongle now, and will it work if I plug it into my FireTV"... So, I moved the dongle to my FireTV and was shocked! Right away, the arrows worked, and when I put it in mouse mode and touched the pad, I had a circle on the screen following my finger movement! And the Home button on it takes you back to the Home screen, like it was made for FireTV!
This really opens up using the many apps out there that are written with only for touch interfaces! I was able to navigate Xfinity TV Go from across the room using only this mini keyboard... At the moment, you can still get these through Amazon for $49.99 (though I'm new here and can't link to it - Search for "Logitech Mini Controller for Logitech Revue and Google TV" if you want one).

how does the keyboard function within xbmc?
I use a logitech k360 wireless keyboard with my ftv and it works great, also flawless with xbmc.
I'm not a big XBMC user, but it has worked fine when I've used it. Played a show on it last night and when I hit the button marked with the stop icon, (when the menu was overlaid on the video), and the video stopped...
So far, I've mostly used it for apps that are built for touch screen (like Xfinity's TV app).
I just started using the K400R. So far everything seems to be great. I have not tried the multimedia keys yet though. The mouse/touchpad works great as well.

I've the same MK360 combo but am unable to get a USB connection since the FTC OS was changed a few weeks ago. Are you still getting a connection? I'm not sure what really changed from limited connectivity to zero. Thanks for ideas ....
I know your post is 3 years old, but I'm wondering if you were able to "click" using the trackpad or mouse key on the TV730 with your Mac. I can pair mine, and typing as well as some other keys work, but I'm not able to click to choose anything.
