My phone is currently stuck saying:
"Samsung Galaxy Note3
Custom"
History: installed rooted NC2 months ago, phone ran really crappy, had safestrap recovery, decided i'd sit down to install jasmine rom eventually
Today: followed Jasmine 5.0 directions, did a wipe, I believe the wipe told me "cannount unmount internal storage"
did this twice, and phone rebooted.
got a loop of "samsung galaxy note3 custom"
followed this: http://www.androidrootz.com/2013/10/how-to-unrootunbrick-galaxy-note-3.html
(Note: Jasmine never installed, i got tripped up when i tried to wipe cache, etc) I was on 4.4.2
Now I get "samsung galaxy note3 custom" without a loop.
---
I can boot to recovery, but I suppose I have nothing it can install to recover. I am not 100% sure what steps to take. I realize this topic gets posted often, I am sorry. I read through a number of "I bricked my phone" topics before posting this.

Go to sammobile.com and get the 4.4.2 firmware and use Odin (latest version) to install.
You'll have to reroot (which can be done on 4.4.2) and reinstall safestrap.
The above presumes you don't have a backup made with safestrap.

Which version of Odin are you using? I believe you need 3.09 or higher.
How did you make the backups? If via Safestrap...you have to use it to recover. The date of the backup is typically embedded in the file name.
Also if you haven't. ...read this thread

That means you're trying to install an older version of the software. You must load either 4.4.4 or 5.0 because the bootloader was updated to either 4.4.4 or 5.0 at some point.
That means you've lost root.

Thats what I feared, but I guess not the absolute end of the world... Should I essentially just stick with stock Verizon updates from now on?
I cannot get root back past the NC4 bootloader right?

Yes, that is correct. You can load either 4.4.4 or 5.0 via Odin. You can get either version on sammobile. And correct...no root available for either. So all you'll have is stock updates from now on unless someone magically figures out how to get root on those....very unlikely though.

So I tried alot of ways to root my samsung galaxy s4 I337. After multiple attempts I got it to root. With the program called: kingo android root
I wanted to put cm10 on here but I needed a custom recovery i tried odin to put twrp on and It kept on failing giving me errors over and over.
so I found a program called: casual that did a root and custom recovery.
well after that it said reboot. So It did and then It got to odin downloading saying error cant normal boot.
I cant restore my phone, get into recovery, the only way I can get on my phone is if I press power down and the home button. Then it boots up.i want it to be fixed without going through all this haggle.
is there anyway besides kies cuz that aint working to fix my phone.
I check root checker basic and I am no longer rooted.
like I said odin is not working for my phone for whatever reason.
maybe if I wait for 4.3 on the 13th and do the ota update will that help.
im so lost please help me someone.
Need to know what firmware you're on. Mf3? Most likely
This might work, but it will delete everything on your phone and reset it. I hope this works :fingers-crossed:
Follow these steps (On your own risk):
1) get on your phone
2) Make sure you have unknown sources enabled (Settings--More--Security--Unknown Sources)
3) install Safestrap 3.62 (download given below)
4) Open app and click "Install Recovery"
5) then press "Reboot to Recovery"
6) It should boot into Safestrap, if not then turn off your phone and the boot it up as you would to use it and then click the menu button on the phone.
7) Then click Wipe
8) Swipe to Factory Reset
9) Reboot
10) Enjoy!

You are most probably on MF3, therefore you cannot install TWRP or CWM recoveries. You can only use Safestrap as of right now.

I am going to try safestrap and let you guys know if it worked.

You can't install Cyanogenmod. Read through the Safestrap thread and the Q/A thread to see what works.

Thanks guys,
This means a lot with the help. Now if I can get the WiFi to work on the hyperdrive rom. I'll be good as gold tell y'all what from. Going from a jailbreak iOS themer to android rooting user. It's very different and a lot of looking into and reading.
Now back into looking to get this WiFi to work. Just wanted to say thanks
Did you flash the ATT compatibility package zip that you should have downloaded along side of the Hyperdrive rom ,after those two zips did you flash the MF3 kernel module zip.
I use the Hyperdrive rom now and don't have any issues

here is my issue now.
I rooted with kinggo android root. Then for custom recover I have Safestrap. I rooted to see what all i could do but after trying different Roms I have noticed I don't care. Much for it.
I unrooted via the kinggo app. And verified with root checker.
But i want to go back to full stock. I noticed Safestrap is still there running in background. But the custom logo is gone.
I just want to go back to stock and have nothing to do with root.
I used the code to remove safestrap. and used kingo to unroot. but when I get the offical files for odin and try to push them into my phone. yes I am in download mode when I enter download mode i get:
odin mode
product name: SGH - 1337
current binary: Samsung official
system status: official
CSB-CONFIG-LSB: 0X30
write protection enabled
when I enter odin put thi the tar file for 4.2.2 I get a pass then a fail. the message log says: <ID:0/003> File analysis..
<ID:0/003> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/003> Initialzation..
<ID:0/003> Get PIT for mapping..
<ID:0/003> Firmware update start..

<ID:0/003> NAND Write Start!!
<ID:0/003>
<ID:0/003> Complete(Write) operation failed.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
and then there is this in red on my phone:
start [224, 1440]
SW REV. CHECK FAIL : fused : 2, Binary : 1
I know I changed the topic. but after thinking there is really nothing that bennifets me with being rooted. and personally I would rather be stock.
can you guys please help.
hey guys i was wondering if anyone could help me with installing the latest build of xnote 10.0 for my n9005
i am currently using the xnote 7.0 rom which is 4.3
my baseband is n900AUCUBMJ5
kernel is 3.4.0-1625098 [email protected]#1
and my version of xnote is XXUDML2
i currently have safestrap installed as my recovery
i am rooted as well
the xnote note instructions read as the following
"
]ONLY IF COMING FROM ANDROID 4.3
FIRST DO THIS, SKIP IF ALREADY DONE CLICK H E R E
So you need a 4.4.2 official firmware already installed, a working KITKAT recovery and ROOT to backup EFS (use chainfire root for KITKAT)
1- Untick reactivation lock in security settings
2- do a EFS backup from your KitKat firmware
3- check the MD5 of your downloaded X-Note zip
4- reboot recovery
5- wipe data (don't do other wipes)
6- install zip and choose the rom in your sd
7- follow aroma, wait for first boot, done."
so my question is do i need to follow those instructions in order to flash from the old xnote 7 to xnote 10 and if so where do i find the download link for the 4.4.2 official poland firmware. (will the langauge be in polish) and will it completely wipe my device in any part of this process and do i need to install a different or newer recovery
thanks for all the help in advance

theres a couple of threads in the general section of this forum to download 4.4.2 - The language won't be Polish as you get to choose on setup wizard.
It won't wipe your device using Odin to flash it - although it's advisable you do wipe.
Lastest CWM by Chenglu - PhilZ Adavanced CWM - TWRP are all Kitkat compatible now. -- remember you don't need to root to install a custom recovery.

i understand how to flash roms pretty well and have been following the xda community for about two years now ive learned and read enough posts to not be a complete idiot anymore. this process however has kinda screwed with my head and im nervous to attempt to update to 10.0 without clearer instructions

Ah OK thought so, due to the bootloader being locked you can't write to the device hence the error. I wouldn't advise trying to write N9005 ROMs for now. I'm gonna guess however that due to the BL lock and since no 4.4.2 is out yet for the ATT version you won't be able to upgrade because of the requirement for the new 4.4.2 BL to boot up xnote 10.
Your really better off asking on the safestrap thread though as most people in this part won't know due to us having the international model.

7 used 4.3's Bootloader IIRC, 8 onwards uses the new KK bootloader. ATT has the JB bootloader, but doesn't yet have access to the new 4.4.2 bootloader.

In regards to CM - I honestly have no idea if it's compatible with the ATT model - but from having a quick glance around the ATT Note 3 forum I can't see that it is. And checking the new unified build tree it shows it's only compatible with "hltespr(Sprint), hltetmo(T-Mobile), hltevzw(Verizon), htlexx(N9005) - However, that's not to say that there is no definite method. One may come via Safestrap or possibly already and I have just missed it.
No problem with helping, just sorry couldn't help you get xnote 10

its alright not your fault and alrighty i mean ive searched around for cm for att and didnt find it either.
in all reality i just wanted 10.0 to get 4.42 because i assumed that my battery drain would be better on it. i love 7.0 its a great rom i just wish there was a real fix for my audio out wakelock issues that suck my battery dry. i have a 10,000ma zero lemon battery on my phone and it still only lasts me about a day. like its at about 20 percent when i charge it before bed every night
OK, I have been searching for several days for a solution to the issue I'm dealing with, with no luck so far.
Goal: Have a Rooted s4 working with Gear 2 watch.
I have 2 s4's I can work with both At&t SGH-I337:
one on 4.4.2 UCUFNC1
the other, 4.2.2 UCUAMDL (attempted to update, system said "interrupted" after downloading the large file, now Kies says its up to date, and won't take any updates)
after much reading and digging, its been tough finding what would work with baseband MDL model - too many "my phone is bricked!" comments afterward has me worried to proceed!
any suggestions and guidance would be greatly appreciated!
thanks!!!
For the one on nc1, you're going to have to flash the Odin mk2 tar file. Then root with saferoot. You can then decide if you want to install safestrap and flash a rooted nb1 rom. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=49687770 also, see this

To add on to above post, for the MDL firmware phone get twrp and flash something like ShoStock-i. It is based on one of the newest international firmwares and include the needed files for Gear Manager that should allow your Gear 2 to work. I have the Gear 1 with using ShoStock-i and it works perfectly. Should not be any different for your Gear 2 with Tizen. Gear Manager will work on your Tizen watch with it.

sigh... Unfortunately, even though I was able to verify root on NC1, I am have not been able to get wifi tether to work (I get "settings has stopped" error, after following the process of replacing tetheringprovision.apk file that I did on my MDL model).
So I have the MDL 4.2.2 model that provides hotspot but doesn't work with Gear 2, and NC1 that's vice versa.
I've looked into flashing a prerooted custom 4.4.2 ROM with working tether like Maple Leaf among others mentioned in this thread, but ODIN fails when I try to install CWM (FAIL Auth). Also tried the ES File Explorer option to create a hotspot network, still get the settings has stopped, I read that even when its says that, it's still actually providing a signal, but not on mine for sure (not finding any using different devices).
I tried this:

followed the steps to the TEE on NC1 phone and still get an ODIN error. ODIN says md5 file is valid, after "firmware update start..", it lists:
sbl2.mbn
NAND Write Start!!
sbl2.mbn
sbl3.mbn
rpm.mbn
aboot.mbn
complete(write) operation failed.
<OSM> all threads completed (suesseed 0 / failed 1)
Now it says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and Try again."
Followed the process to on Kies to upgrade firmware with model number and SN, but it tries to load MDL version and says "This devices version cannot be updated"
Tried emergency recovery but device doesn't show on the list.
been working on this for a couple of days now- staying patient- I'm sure it's something simple I'm missing... Thanks so much for your suggestions guys!
SOLVED!
I finally accomplished what I was going for:
I managed to unbrick my 4.4.2 NC1 by flashing 4.4.2 NB1 via ODIN, then took the OTA update again to NC1, rooted with Towelroot, then, after finding out that AT&T no longer blocks hotspot with the new mobile share plans (which I have), everything is working fine= rooted 4.4.2 NC1 with working hotspot and compatibility with Gear 2.
thanks again for the suggestions!
Today I got a warranty replacement S5. I used Oden 3.09 to try and flash stock software builds and they all fail.
I tried:
ALL_VZW_G900VVRU1ANCG_G900VVZW1ANCG_964333_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
G900VVRU1ANE9_G900VVZW1ANE9_G900VVRU1ANE9_HOME.tar.md5
The phone reads: SW REV CHECK FAIL : [aboot]Fused > Binary 1
ODEN reads:
SingleDownload.
aboot.mbn
NAND Write Start!!
Fail! (Auth)
Complete(Write) operation Failed.
The phone has Android 5.0 on it
Baseband Version G900VVRU2BPB1
Is there any reason I can't Use oden to flash this phone?

You should have done a little reading around these forums first. It would have saved you a lot of time and trouble. You are on PB1 and the bootloader is locked down tight. You cannot downgrade from there to a previous version like the two you tried to flash. To get your phone back working you will have to flash the full PB1 stock software build.

After I flash the full stock PB1 build, Can I then downgrade in order to root the device? Oh and where do I find this build? search is not helping.

try this link it should help you a little, and a little more research. "Verizon s5 xda" that's what I usually Google and give me everything I need. Remember that, Google it's your best friend.

Thanks much for the link. I read through it and was able to get the phone rooted. I did run into 2 minor issues that I need to research in order to fix:
1. Swapping Kingroot for SuperSu does not work as SuperSU can't download and install the binary. I keep getting told to reboot and try again. I reinstalled Kingroot and it's working.
2. I'm getting the error about unauthorized activity. I know it has to do with KNOX and want to remove it, but can't manage to get safestrap to install. The installation app tells me that the installation completes successfully, but when I reopen the app, i am told that safestrap is not installed. Without it I can't install the 2 zip files in the instructions. For now I'm just ignoring the warning in notification screen and all is fine. I'm a little hesitant to monkey with KNOX for fear of voiding my warranty and not being able to take advantage of my extended protection plan.
Other than those 2 issues, everything is working great. Thanks again for the assistance.

I know issue #1 now that your king root is working try again with SuMe, it should work, don't download Su apk SuMe will do it.
issue #2 I am not sure about it, but here's something that may help you 7. Install This zip Knox_Removal_SU_BB_INIT.D.zip If you dont want a custom rom your done!
8. If you want to flash a custom rom make a backup In safestrap. Then in safestrap Click Wipe then Click Advanced Wipe Then Wipe System,Wipe Data,Wipe Cache Then Install any rom of your choosing as long as it is a Verizon S5 TocuchWiz Based Rom CM builds will not work! If you want you can try this it is stable. If for some reason you get an error flashing zips install this zip G900V_Fix Safestrap.zip in safestrap then you will be able to install roms. That zip wipes system and formats it so you will need to install a rom or backup before leaving safestrap
VZW_BPB1_ODEX_DEODEX_V8.zip This is a fully stock rom just like you had except it is Pre Rooted Knox free Deodexed with Tethering Fix, SDWrite Fix. Other than that all the bloat is still there but now your rooted you can remove it or flash different rom whatever
9. After flashing any rom I would head over to my Safestrap Thread and flash the latest version of Safestrap

Step 8 safetrap fix (or so it says)
And this is for the rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/development/vzwstock-based-tw-rom-3-4-16-t3329029
For # 2 I read that security Log manager is the app that actually causes the messages to popup. I went into System APK manager and froze the app. Going back in, I notice that the Frozen screen is blank. I hope I didn't do something wrong.

Just install the rom with flashfire... the deodex one... and download the originaltar.img just in case something goes wrong or that you mess something up.
it's also located at the first link I posted
I purchased SuMe and it did it's magic. I am happy. good program. Also I have not received any warning messages about unauthorized activity. I will have to remove knox at some point, but for now all is good.

Glad u made it... me says adios senior...
I wanted to flash TWRP, but sadly i get this message, i tried some of the TWRP versions but all of them says the same, i wanted to install an custom ROM because the Stock Lollipop ROM has problems with some apps like Messenger, recent version gives me error when trying to install, it happens with other apps too
Also i want to ask. Is there an way to disable the "Secure Download : Enable"? i think it's because of that, i searched on many sites and even on XDA but i didn't found anything, if you have an way to root Stock Lollipop ROM, it could be really nice.
Did you read everything from the thread?
