Hi All,
I recently purchased the Tab 4 (WIFI) SMT330 (UK), and didn't think there would be much problem rooting and installing various ROMS. It seems there is a real lack of ROMS out there for this device.
I am just wondering what the general consensus is, is there a stable ROM out there which is de-bloated? Or is it just a waiting game....the closest I can see is this rom but there seems to be a few bugs?

Someone gave me a Tab 4 WiFi and I've been trying to find ROMS and there is absolutely nothing out there. Blisspop was abandoned so the only thing left really is the stock 5.1.1 firmware and a custom kernel enabling the IR blaster.
I'm also not able to find a recovery for the T330NU either that seems stable.

Hi,
I'm interested in getting a ROM for my Canadian Note 3 N900W8. My friend only pointed me to the Cyanogenmod website and I have no idea which rom to get. I'm looking in the HLTE section. I see nightlies with a risk that they may be unstable but under stable or milestone, there are no roms to download, and the only other option is snapshot. I've already rooted my note 3, and I'm mainly interested in getting the the GPS working with the note 3.
Any recommendations?
Thanks

I use cm12.1 by temasek. Great rom. Nothing is bugfree now days but for me it works far more stable than stock rom. You can try.
Where can i get cm 12.1 (lollipop) for my note 3 sm-n900w8 hltecan, can anybody help me?
Hey! I was just going to post a question about the GPS issues I've been having with TW custom lollipop ROMS. I've tried s6 ports, note 4 ports , edge ports and all of them seem to have GPS issues. I downloaded GPS test and could never get a fix on my location . I figured it was a ROM issue so I went from ROM to ROM until I found xposed deathnote ROM for n900w8 which after flashing would acquire a signal right away . After restoring all my apps I went to flash a custom kernel so I could flash Viper and this is where I found the issue. As soon as I rebooted I lost my GPS so I started flashing kernels and finally found fulgor which not only fixed my GPS issues but is compatible with Viper.
I'm not sure if it's a bug or just the custom kernels not being compatible with n900w8 hardware but the fulgor kernel has been the only one that works.
FYI I had to re flash DOC firmware for my GPS to work . Before that didn't matter what kernel I used I had no lock on my location .
Also if I did a clean install no titanium backup restore my GPS did work with those other ports. I'm not sure if it's a combo of flashing xposed , custom kernel and restoring that was causing my GPS issues. .
Sorry I couldn't provide you with a definite reason why our n900w8 are having these GPS issues, maybe someone with more knowledge can chime in.

Thanks a ton! I've been using XDA for years, rooted/modded an S2, Note 10.1 2014 and my daily driver n900w8. Like how nice and easy CM is great I can do it on an old S2. Still battle with GPS, the unified daemon, etc., but generally sticking with Lollipop. I was considering the Deathnote ROM, but I've never seen the fulgor kernel suggestion before. Will have to check it out. CM 12.1 had much better cell signal and performance, but some other stability issues. Always a trade off!
Do you notice better battery life when the GPS lock works? Still have working NFC with deathnote? Seems like some hit and miss for people. Thanks!

This is the ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3117018
(Xposed) DeathNote Rom Based On darklord for N900W8
My battery is always horrible when in use but great when it's in standby so can't really say. As far as I have tried no LP rom has a working NFC for N900W8 until Samsung releases our kernel source code (someone correct me if I'm wrong?) The developer for the Fulgor kernel has stopped development and is focused on audax kernel so not sure if fulgor will give you the best results. I'm too scared to start flashing kernels again since I have my phone set up perfectly which took me hours of restoring and tweaking lol.. gl

This is one I've been eyeing. Just haven't jumped in yet. Back on stock 5.0.1 when I had a problem flashing a different ROM.
Oddly the stock ROM battery seems to have improved in the last week or so. Standby is also great.
Before that CM 12.1 was better until I got too many stability issues and crashes...
May try it this weekend. Don't use NFC much but would like to implement NFC tags, which is why I'm holding back too.

Hi All,
I have had my Galaxy S 4 (I9505) for a while now but it is still running android 4.3.
I was hoping to update it to 5.0.1 but when I plugged it into my PC, Kies said 'This device is unsupported'
I want to flash a new rom onto it (I have done this in the past with a samsung tablet)
I was just wanting some feedback as to what is regarded as a good rom for it these days. Should I go a standard stock rom from sammobile or are there custom roms out there that perform better?
Thanks for any help and advice.
Daniel
Custom roms give you more performance. Stock roms tend to lag here and there, from what I saw in rom reviews.
If you want a minimalist rom, go for CM12 or Slim roms. They have very few features.
If you want lots of features, go for AICP or Resurrection Remix. These two combine the most popular features from other roms (I personally use Resurrection Remix).
And there are the GPE roms. I don't know how GPE 5.1 is, but on 5.0 the rom was rock solid and everything worked.
I can't say anythinv about stock touchwiz because, since I changed I never went back

Try a custom S6 Touchwiz ROM for your phone model - you'll be pleasantly surprised by the new look, feel and performance. I know I am!
I tried CM but not such a big fan... Experiment a bit until you find what you were ALWAYS looking for!
You try to consider CM 12.1 or GPE Roms. The major disadvantage is the camera quality and some multitasking features on TW, but it's hella fast and smooth.

Roms
I would recommend Cyanogenmod but sometimes it comes with some problems. Check out first which is the stable version for s4.
Also, I would recommend the WickedRom which is great and great performance. And the WanamLite Rom is amazing if you would like to tune your mobile , for example gpu or cpu in higher frequencies or even set custom gestures and etc.( but remember to be careful with those why you might break your phone

it's like you have already a custom rom, or a rooted & modified stock rom !.

go for Resurrection Remix like said: GDReaper, or may be BlissPOP ( with terrible battery drain for me).
I tried just the straight CM 12 rom and it was okay, but once I put on the one of the Optimized CM 12.1 roms I got better battery life and faster performance, but also lost a few features, got a few bugs, but so far so good. It really depends what you want.
If you are willing to have a few crashes, bugs you can put on the newest rom builds, but if you want stable, then going for the older well established ones may be a better option.

I have to correct you here buddy It's almost always better to pick the latest CM build. Because it's a work in progress, every new build has a lot fixes.
I'm curious though to what bugs you are referring to. I used it pretty long and I found it almost to be bugfree. Besides the obvious difficulty's with bluetooth.

Hey Lenny, the official CM builds I have never had an issue with (except nightlies of course) however when we get into the custom ROM world such as Slimroms, modified CM builds etc I do tend to hit a few bugs, such as crashes of apps, however often those builds then become stable.
Hope that makes more sense?
The only good advice is to just use stock roms. It's stable, no bugs, no issues. The only thing that pisses you off is the laggggggg!
Hello everyone,
I personally never owned a Samsung device (always Nexus and mostly with Paranoid Android or Dirty Unicorns ROM) but my girlfriend has one and she defeniately needs it to be flashed :good:
As I am completely new to Samsung devices, I have no idea about all the developers and different ROMs that are out there for the Samsung Note 4 (Snapdragon).
I don't have much time to try around with different ROMs as it isn't my phone.
I need one that is good, stable, fast (and also supports the stylus / samsung apps). So I can flash it quickly and have a happy girlfriend
So that is the reason I an asking in the first place. Else I would just flash around and keep trying until I find the best fit.
I saw CM is officially supporting the Note 4. So that one might be a good solution. But does it have all those stylus samsung stuff?
Any other ROMs I should check out?
Do I need to flash a new radio?
Thanks in advance and sorry for posting another "which ROM" thread. But I can't really test around to find out on my own as it is not my device that I am going to improve !
If n910g, this is highly recommended, although you have to disable or uninstall later all apps that you don't want if you want a debloated rom.

It is N910F.
The link you provided is simply stock android MM?
Yes stock MM, stock is in my experience the most stable and bug free rom build. But the link is for n910g unfortunately.
Stock ROM, and then debloat yourself. Quite honestly speaking, and no offence to anyone, there are no good ROMs available for Note 4. In fact I myself might have not got the phone if I realised the development section is like this. And I am not interested in ported ROMs, so even though there are many available I won't go that way, and I am too dumb to make a ROM for myself, so stock ROM it is.
I agree, stock rom rooted and debloat it, and apply msm tweaks. If you want, xposed as well.

You must flash samsung based rom to have all soen features and samsung apps. I reconnemed kurama rom which in using , its battery friendly, fast and stock based. If you going to flash kurama rom you must flash modem and bootloader for the rom to boot up (only can be flashed from pc with odin)
Hi guys,
So after a break I am going back to the S5 (currently in post) and looking forward to trying a load of roms that have been developed since my last use.
I have downloaded latest CM and LOS releases as well as some ports and stock based/modded roms to try but I'm just curious as to which stock based/modded roms you are currently using/prefer/why?
I ask because if using a Sammy rom I am likely to prefer the S5 stock modded since fingerprint scanner should work for lock or in-app like Banking and Paypal etc (Or do some of the ports also work in-app?)
This isn't supposed to be a "best rom" type thread as that is subjective. I'm just interested in what you are currently using (modded stock). There was previously (as far as I remember) an INDEX thread listing all stock based but I am unable to locate it at the moment.
So, any recommendations to try would be appreciated.
It's in my signiature. Beast, long battery life, little to no lags, but for some reason, came without CSC. Download alexndr's devbase ROM and transfer the csc folder from the devbase to the SuperLITE MM zip.

Unfortunately my S5 has just arrived and it's the Plus model (G901F) not the G900F. SuperLITE was going to be first rom I tried but looks like I can't use it? :crying:

As stated, you did not specify the model number. So, G901F lacks custom roms. THere are 1 or 2 out in the wild, but will take some time to find.
So far tried, CM, LOS, RR, Mokee...and best would be RR in terms of functionally but for some reason the N latest version gets my phone hot hot hot. Im on LOS again but thinking of going to older 6 RR.
Hi guys
Iv got a tab 4 as a gift running kitkat 4.4.2
I would like to install a custom rom as it looks very old and cranky, even though its only a 2014 tablet (why the hell samsung didn't update this I'll never know)
Iv installed Twrp,
I see there seems to be a limited number of roms for this device, any advice would be great.
I was looking at the moonlight rom. Apparently it works with the tab 4 WiFi.
Thanks for your time.

I am looking for a ROM for this device, too. And I didn't find any ROM that is worth rooting my tablet and installing TWRP and things like that... All those ROMs are based on the same system, same android version, except for apps and some theming mods... I don't know why don't they just try to make an AOSP nougat ROM for this device, or porting a TW lollipop ROM to our tablet.
I have Samsung tab 4 Sm-t239 I want to install marshmallow.....presently tab is having android kit kat 4.4.4.....can anybody help
Thanks in advance
